Can't stand iOS 7, can I reset to iOS 6?
I'm having all sorts of trouble with iOS 7. Really dislike it. Any way I can go back to another version?

I was updating my iPod Touch 5 iOS from Ver 7.0.3 to Ver 7.0.4 and myiPod locked up. I can not reset or restore the unit. The only thing it will do is show me a graphic of thr lightning cable facing up to an arrow and then to a circular blue iTunes icon. I interpert this to mean "connect the iPod to my computer thru the USB cable while iTunes is running. I do this and nothing changes. Total lock up. Any ideas?

I have an iphone 3gs - yes, an older iphone.
This morning apple had a msg that asked if I wanted to upgrade to the new ios 6.1 (?). I said yes. Now I can't use my phone. I've tried hitting the power and other buttons. I get a white apple on the screen. can't reset phone - doesn't work. what can I do besides take phone into Apple? This *****! I realize (now from reading internet) that my phone/system may be uncompatible. Help!I have a 3GS (a true classic design!) and have upgraded it to 6.1 today. The process did not go without a glitch - it took a few attempts to get the app's to sync but after detecting the ones causing an issue and deleting them it works - so far! I have had issues about 50% of the numerous times a new OS is uploaded to this phone and always take the new OS with trepidation. But at least you know there is a 3GS with 6.1 working OK.
I suggest you do a fresh restart to the phone several times - without it being connected to the computer - to see if it gets its act together and starts. I think it will. Hold down the top 'power' button and front round control button until it shuts down - goes blank and dead. Then press the top power button to re-activate - reboot - it.
If that does not work then plug into your itunes computer, navigate in iTunes to see your iPhone and hopefully you will be able to sync it or at least 'restore iPhone' from the 'summary' tab.
If you can not get onto the iphone perhaps you will still be able to sync if in iTunes by going - 'file' - 'devices' - 'sync iphone' or failing that try transfer purchases' and ultimately 'restore from back-up'.
I had technical problems with my old 3GS (suffered a failed wireless antenna) so I took it to an Apple Store and they issued me with a service-replacement/reconditioned phone for a very modest charge. So if worst come to the worst get a new phone that way! -
iPhone 4s will not boot after trying to install ios7 beta 4. Stops at apple logo with progress line under it. how can I reset it or get it back up to do a restore then try the iOS 7 beta 4 install again. Issue was probably caused by disconnection
Obviously since you have iOS 7 you're a developer. As a developer, you signed a NDA with Apple not to discuss the iOS on a public forum. Please log in to the Developer Forum using your credentials and ask for help there, lest you risk having your credentials terminated.

You can wipe the device without updating:
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content & Settings
I would be remiss not to mention that iOS 7.0.6 patches a security flaw.
If you choose not to update, your device will be at risk.

I have been an iPhone user since the first iPhone. In fact, i was first in line in 2007 at the Boston Apple Store at Chestnut Hill Mall.
I've never experienced such strange behavior by the autocorrect feature. Granted there is the occasional annoying autocorrect, but this is out of control. I can't even make it through a sentence without getting frustrated and wanting to throw the brand new iPhone 4S accross the room!

I turned on a couple keyboards looking for the Emoji keyboard last night... So my assumption is that the "keyboards > language selection" is linked to the dictionaries the system uses for autocorrect? Well, whatever the case, I turned everything off except English and Emoji and that seemed to correct the problem.
If anyone else is having a blond moment, like me, consider user error first. LOL

if i factory reset my ipod touch(5th gen), can i reset it to the option 'set up as a new ipod', and then i can just go into the app store/itunes store and log into my apple ID so i can just restore my music and apps and not icloud with photos, contacts, ect. and then later i can add contacts that i need/want instead of them restoring them from icloud?
The reason i asked this question is because i have been wondering this a lot ever since i got an exchange on this ipod (and ive only had it for a few weeks now) because my last ipod had a lot of problems. so after i restored my ipod with my computer/itunes, i downloaded apps that i wanted, and then when i went to the storage to see how much storage was left, it said 0 bytes. i was freaking out because i didnt know how that could be, i mean, cause like, that is impossible when i just 'purchased' it, that the space was full but i looked and all my pictures were on this ipod and i already put them on my computer so i dont need them anymore thats why i wanna reset it now so there is nothing on it so i can have more space for stuff to do and download on it.
it is updated to iOS 8 but that happened when i purchased it, so i didnt have a choice to update it even though i didnt want to update to iOS 8...

-sierraHey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact Apple ID Support, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
You will need to show patience with the procedure and be prepared to demonstrate without question that the account belongs to you. Don’t expect access to be restored immediately and if you aren’t the owner of the Apple ID registered to the device the account won’t be reset.

You need to use the old ID and password to delete the iCloud account. After you delete the old account, you can sign in with the new ID in iCloud.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
