Can't start CS2 on Vista laptop ... HELP!

Hello, and thanks in advance for any help.
I just installed CS2 on my HP laptop with Vista and, seemingly, everything installed correctly. When I start CS2, it loads as it should. After it completes loading, I instantly get the message:
"Adobe Photoshop CS2 has stopped working."
"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
Of course none is ever available.
Then when I click OK, it closes the program and I get this message:
"To help protect your computer, Data Execution Prevention has closed Adobe Photoshop CS2. Click to learn more."
I tried to uninstall the software, but I get a similar message about "Windows Installer has stopped working ..." But it only does this for Photoshop. Anything else I can install/uninstall with no issues.
Here are the steps I have taken to remedy:
1) Restart
2) Uninstall (of course didn't work)
3) System Restore
4) Reinstall after system restore
5) Delete preferences (using shift/alt/ctrl) when Photoshop starts.
6) Turn off DEP for Photoshop
7) Turn off DEP for ALL Adobe executables
8) Another system restore
9) Reinstall to C:\progra~2\Adobe
10) Pulled some hair out
Any suggestions? Questions? I have to get this running by Friday. Even if it means buying new software or hardware.

Sounds to me like it is in fact suffering from some locked registry entries getting in the way. With regards to the uninstall that can be solved easily by using the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility and having it remove the repsective entries for Photoshop and otehr Adobe products (may require to use the tool a couple of times). For everything else, tools like Sysinternals' Process Monitor may offer some insights by tracking which files and registry keys PS is trying to access that may cause the crash and flase alarm. I also recomemnd you check your settings for your user temporary folders. It is not beyond reason to assume that your temp directory is being monitored by some tool and when PS attempts to place its swap files there, it crashes because it is prevented from doing so....

How can i set up a Vista Laptop to be controled by ARD?

I looked around and only found some info on using free VNC, but i still can not get the hang of how to set up my laptop with Vista to enable ARD to see it,
I have a iMac with Leopard with ARD, a MBP 17 and a HP Laptop, i used Airport xtream, but i can not even see the machines connected to it to get the IP to connect via ARD.
Any Advise would be appreciated, thanks

Your iMac with ARD... this is the bona fide, ($300/$500) "Remote Desktop.app" admin install, or do you mean that you have ARD "Remote Management" access enabled or have tried to control Vista with Microsoft's similarly-named "[Remote Desktop Connection|http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/remote-desktop/default.mspx]" app? (Just making sure—it would be a very different conversation otherwise.)
Remote Desktop does lots of fancy stuff, but for the Observe and Control mechanisms it behaves as a plain-jane VNC client. It can connect to any standards-compliant VNC server. You should, for example, be able to run a different VNC client on your Mac and have a similar success/failure experience; perhaps the excelent [Chicken of the VNC|http://sourceforge.net/projects/cotvnc>. If you have the same failures, we'll still help, but ARD is obviously not the culprit. In any case, the usual suspects for windows VNC servers include UltraVNC, realVNC \[paid ver. required for vista\], and TightVNC. They all have caviats, but they're fairly well documented. Vista itself throws VNC under the bus "in favor of security" but again, you'll find lots of users in the same boat; unable to get the VNC server working on the Vista side. Your statement that you "couldn't even see the machines connected to it to get the IP" was bit confusing though, as devices don't need to be running a VNC server to at least show up in a scan (IP printers should appear, for example). Are you sure they're on the same subnet of the same lan/being otherwise scanned for correctly; or if remote, are you sure the remote Vista laptop is directly addressable with NAT from the web?

Can't start up my MacBook, please help.

I was watching "The Office" on my laptop and out of nowhere my MacBook just froze. I was able to move the mouse around but nothing on the keyboard was working. So after a while of waiting for it to begin working I decided to attempt to restart my computer. When I restarted the computer it took a long time to boot up and when it finally did a message saying "no bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key". This happens from time to time and I am usually able to fix it by holding the alt/option button but for some reason it does not work this time. I have tried multiple times but I can't seem to get past the "no bootable device" message. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Now it is showing that the mac wants to start internet recovery. What does this mean?

Can not start X when the laptop boots from battery

Hi,
I have just found out recently that X doesn't start when i boot my laptop from battery. After the daemons are run, X is started and then shows me a blank black screen. Ctrl-Alt-Del or Ctrl-Alt-Backspace don't work. And i can't change tty like Ctrl-Alt-F1 to escape to the console. It just hangs.
When power cable is plugged then the laptop works just fine. Even if i pull the cable out afterwards, it continues working on battery mode.
What can be the reason ? Has anyone the same problem ?

Can't start up 3G!! Help please!

Ok- so I just got an ipad and want to sign up for a cellular data plan. I click settings, 'Cellular Data ' then I hit 'View Account' ...(while connected to WiFi) and it comes up as 'this may take a few seconds to load' but then takes about 2 full minutes, and then it says 'connection failed. server was lost. try again later"...but i know the server wasn't lost because i can still get on to the internet for email and such.
am i doing something wrong?? please help!

If you are in the USA it uses the 3G service to set up the account. Do you have 3G service available where you are? Does the ATT and #G and bars show in upper left?

Iphone can't start up! Blackout! HELP!

I am in Singapore... I got my phone 6days back.
Yesterday after i sent one sms out & when i pressed the "Sleep/wake up" button.
No image/ nothing happens to the phone. Wonder if the sleep/wake up button got stuck... or what...
Tried holding/ pressing.. etc but it just can't boot up.

sounds like the battery is dead... hook it up to a charger for at least 15 mins ... if you see the low battery image appear let it charge up completely
you can also wake up the iphone using the Home button... so if it also is not waking the phone then it should be charged up!

How can i connect a windwos vista laptop with time capsule. Both are still in the same network

i have a running wlan network. In this network are a macbook pro, a Vista notebook and the time capsule. The Macbook runs perfectly with the time capsule, but how can I connect the vista machine with the time capsule?

The TC is SMB (windows networking protocol) compatible.
Is the issue wireless? Can you get internet via the TC?
Are you trying to access the hard disk?
Did you load the airport utility for windows..? If not please do so.. that at least is the first step. It loads bonjour for windows, and a connection agent.
Sometimes that is all that is required.
Open a windows explorer and type in the address bar
\\TCname or \\TCIPaddress .. obviously replacing the generic name with actual name or IP.
You might need to change all the names to SMB standard via the utility. Short no spaces pure alphanumeric.
You might need to fix the permissions.. ie turn on the guest account if security isn't an issue.
You might need to fix networking in the vista .. shudder.. notebook.. to ensure it is not blocking the TC.

Hi!! You should try the recovery feature in W7. Some times it can be accessed through safe mode. On my model it's easier to use the system repair disc. You can find out how to create that here.

These are basic things you need to know if your going to own a Toshiba laptop.
PS Some day I'm going to convince staff to make a sticky of these things; which would cut their work in half, but then I wouldn't have any thing to do.
Here's what the recovery looks like. You have 5 options to help you. The Dos option can really help if you are familiar with Dos. In Dos you can do a chkdsk---sfc /scannow--- and a whole lot more. Start with the Repair option first and work your way down.

New Laptop w Vista - Need help transfering Palm and other software to Vista

I got a new laptop that runs Vista. My Palm TX has been the Palm and all other software fine on my Windows XP desktop computer.
How do I move all my Palm info over to the laptop without starting a lot of problems.

To sync on your new 32-bit desktop you will need to download the Vista-compatible Palm Desktop 6.2.
You will also need to install Documents To Go v.10 on the new desktop as well...should be fine with Vista. From what I've seen of Beyond Contacts, you will need to upgrade to 3.0083 to gain Vista support. I don't know if that's a paid upgrade or not.
If any of your other third-party apps also have a desktop component or install a conduit for synchronization, you'll need to check with each of them to verify compatibility with Vista and Palm Desktop 6.2.
When you connect to the new computer for the first time after you install Palm Desktop software, just select the TX's current Hotsync ID to sync with, and the data on the TX should automatically migrate into your new installation. But it's always best to be safe rather than sorry. Get a copy of NVBackup (google and download from any legit source such as www.palmgear.com ), and run a complete backup onto a SD card. That way, you'll be minutes away from a full Restore if anything does happen in the transition.
Lastly, if you plan to sync with your two computers, you will need to be careful and only use one of them for full 2-way synchronization, and use the other purely as a clone to hold a copy of the data on the handheld, using Handheld Overwrites Desktop conduit settings on that second computer. Otherwise data corruption is sure to result. This Palm Knowledgebase Article discusses how to Hotsync one device on two different desktops:

Vista-windows wireless service can't start......

Hi I have 2 XP desktops and a Vista Home laptop all sharing internet through a lynksys wireless router for weeks. I've had no problems untill a couple days ago, the Vista laptop suddenly couldnt see the network let alone connect to it. The WIFI light is on. Ive tried the useless repair connection button but it says "windows wireless service is not running on this computer" so i click repair only to be told it cant fix the problem. Is ther a way to start the service? I cant find it in services.mcs or msconfig. I ran sfc /scannow and it said there were errors but they couldnt be fixed. Ive tried everything and called Dell tech support but they say it has to be an OS error and all i can do is backup and reinstall the whole OS but I would prefer not to. Any ideas? Please help!!!!!!

As you all had the same problem, I had it too. I got a nasty virus/spyware and my anti-virus didn't got it.
After removing the virus/spyware, and when I wasn't able to use my wireless internet connection became really really frustrating including the fact that no internet resource was available on this issue.
After investigating a little, I tried to restore my windows services to the original state. After typing 'windows vista default services' in Google I found a script that supposed to do what I was needed. That site contained also a description for each windows service, so this way I found out about the wireless service that was shut-down, and that couldn't be started because of a missing dependency (that couldn't be started using the windows software (I forgot the name for it .
So looking at the script (the one for defaulting the state of windows services), and finding the name for that dependency that was stopped by that mallware, I did it a try and it worked.
So, funny thing, I'm not a windows fan ("Long live UNIX"), my expertise with windows is fairy limited, and with a little luck I figured out.
Why I was so stubborn? I had to chat with my girlfriend
Funny thing though is that some one stoled my laptop 1 mo later and I lost my girlfriend too )
Regarding the answer to the question if your computer is still infected.... I have no idea....
