Can't start dreamweaver CS3

My laptop crashed and I bought a new one.  So I popped in the dreamweaver disk and reinstalled it.  It said it was successful, but when I click to run it, absolutely nothing happens.  If I hit ctrl-alt-del and look at the processes, it says that dreamweaver is loaded into memory.
If I hit alt-tab it also is no there.   I tried re-installing it but it still does not work
Any ideas?
Thanks.

  • How can I activate Dreamweaver CS3 on a second Apple Mac when the original Mac has gone wrong?

    I have Dreamweaver CS3.
I have used it on my laptop and my desktop Macs.
In the past, I have simply deactivated it on one Mac to use it on the other.
My laptop, which has Dreamweaver activated on it, has a graphics card problem and is in for repair.
I cannot use the Dreamweaver installed on my desktop computer because I cannot de-activate it on the laptop (which is being repaired by Apple and which Apple say they can't access to de-activate it, because there is no screen display).
This is obviously going to be a future problem if one of the Macs blows up while Dreamweaver is activated on it. I will not be able to use the Dreamweaver I bought nor service my website.
    Help! ?

You could always download the trial version until the laptop is fixed. But, I don't know if you can even save a file from CS5 that would be compatible in 3.  It is sucky to not have the single user, two activation license. This is one of the things I applaud Adobe for. Most major software licenses are meant for a single machine, and not so concerned about users - that they know it's unlikely that several users would share a machine.it does happen, but it's also quite an inconvenience.  The two activation solution takes into account a more realistic scenario for a single user. The other option being used with some programs is the dongle, which I also like, even though many others don't for various and valid reasons. Anyway, I just looked at a page in cs4 and it doesn't really save in any particular version, HTML is HTML. I just don't know what will happen if someone goes to open it in CS3 - will it open less any CS4 code, not open, erase the code on save? Will it be the same for 5? Just wondering as you may be able to use the trial.

  • Can someone with Dreamweaver cs3 open a cs5 file?

    Hi:
Work just upgraded me to DreamWeaver CS5 but I work on files that I share with another web author and they have DreamWeaver CS3.  If I edit a file and save it in DreamWeaver 5, will the other author be able to open the file in DreamWeaver CS3?  I have not loaded my new software at work yet because I was afraid there might be a problem.    This is our work intranet so I need to be careful I don't screw the site up. We save our files with the extension .shtml.
    Thanks
    Jeff

Yes, provided you use DW's Check In/Check Out feature so that you don't overwrite each other's work.
There are no proprietary file formats like Microsoft Office.
HTML code is HTML code and can be read by any human being or text editor.
The only caveats are if you use emerging technologies such as HTML5. CS5 can handle that but CS3 will struggle.

  • Can´t start Photoshop CS3 Windows

When I start PS CS3, by initializing the pallets ("Paletten werden initialisiert" (German message) the window closed and does nothing more.
After uninstalling and new installation the same happened.
    What can I do?
Is there an uninstalling tool from adobe, which removes all registry keys?
I hope you can help me.
    Greetings from Germany

Try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.ef4a07f/1
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

You can use the CS3Clean script:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb401574
It's designed for removing beta versions, but should also
    work with the
final release. Read the instructions carefully. The script
    will remove
all CS3 programs on your computer.

    On a Mac, I think it's called MacFileCache-AD76BB20.dat.
It's located in your user's configuration folder. For
    example, on

  • I can't close Dreamweaver CS3 ?

    Hello,
if somebody could help me ?
Il changed my PC (HP Pavilion 2070-EF - Vista 32), it worked perfectly with my "old" PC.  But now, when I used a long time Dreamweaver, sometimes (often...), it is impossible to close the main window. I have to close it by CRTL+ALT+SUPPR... Where is the problem ?
    thank you for help

  • Can't Uninstall Dreamweaver!

This is ridiculous. After having issues getting setup.exe to
    start (had to set explorer as my default browser for it to work;
    don't ask me why), I now have a problem where I can't re-install
dreamweaver as it thinks dreamweaver is already installed. I've
removed absolutely all application files (including those in
Documents & Settings, and those scattered amongst the program
files folder including associations in the 'Common' folder)
including performing a full system search for files & folders
including the word dreamweaver, additionally, I've used regseeker
to scan the registry for all keys including the word, or somehow
associated with the word dreamweaver (over 1000 registry keys
    gone).
    All that and I still can't install Dreamweaver CS3. Here's a
screenshot of what I'm getting as my error...
    http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/5600/dwnw9.png
I'm guessing there's probably some kind of hidden DLL in the
windows directory which although doesn't contain the word
dreamweaver in the name, is probably associated with dreamweaver
and so the setup.exe probably checks for that file.
Would anyone happen to know how I can either satisfy this
setup.exe or some how force it to install?

Now aren't I just fantastic, 99,000 google searches later, I
manage to work it myself without the help of any resource. I
decided to run Filemon which monitors file access by applications.
I started capturing activity after I launched setup.exe and stopped
it once I saw the dreamweaver currently installed error (screenshot
in original post). At first glance I didn't see anything unusual,
but then I noticed that setup.exe had accessed a file named caps.db
quite a lot which was located in C:\Program Files\Common
    Files\Adobe\caps\caps.db
I decided to remove the whole folder as caps.db was the only
thing inside the 'caps' folder. I then restarted setup.exe and bam,
no error. I'm currently installing dreamweaver now. If I don't post
back here, it means deleting caps.db hasn't affected any other
adobe applications, otherwise, I'll probably post back and let you
    know :)
I hope this helps someone else as after googling, I'd found a
few others experiencing the same thing but with photoshop (it's all
    very much the same).

  • Cannot install Dreamweaver CS3 on Vista

I'm running a desktop PC with Windows Vista Premium. I had
Dreamweaver 8 installed and want to upgrade to Dreamweaver CS3. So
I uninstalled Dreamweaver 8 and ran the setup for CS3. After the
setup extracted all he necessary setup files I saw a message saying
"initializing setup" and then...nothing. Setup just quit. I tried
several times. I've never installed any of the CS3 beta
versions...but I ran the CS3 cleanup anyway. No luck. Searched the
registry for any extra Dreamweaver entries. Nothing. The only Adobe
software I have installed is Acrobat 8 Pro and Photoshop CS2. Just
can't get Dreamweaver CS3 to install. Any ideas?

  • Dreamweaver CS3 won't run with OS 10.9

How can I use Dreamweaver CS3 with OS 10.9?

You can't. Or at least, you shouldn't.
I'm pretty sure CS3 would require "Rosetta" which Mac OS X hasn't supported since Snow Leopard (OS 10.6)
It ran on some of the early Intel Macs, but you should be using CS4 or newer with Mavericks and a 64 bit Intel Mac.

  • Getting Started with Dreamweaver CS3

I just purchased Dreamweaver CS3 online but have not yet
received it. I need to get a website up quickly but have never used
Dreamweaver. Can anyone point me to tutorials or other information
that I can review in advance? I tried to download a free trial of
dreamweaver 8 (CS3 not yet a available), assuming the
interface/functionality is similar, but can't find anything.
Any help that can get me quickly started is much
    appreciated.

I really want to emphasize this excellent suggestion from
    Geoff. I know you
are anxious to get started, but make sure you do that with an
    extreme bias
towards learning the underlying HTML and CSS. The more you
    know about this,
the shallower your learning curve with DW will be.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 not starting after install

My previous Acer computer (Intel dual core, 2gb ram, XP Pro SP3) ran DW just fine, but it died a hardware death. My new computer is an HP 6005 Pro, pre-installed with an XP Pro (SP3) downgrade, AMD dual core 2.8 gb processor, 1.75 gb ram...
The install went fine, but when I click on the icon (either the shortcut or the exe in the root folder) nothing happens. The hourglass starts for a few seconds then disappears and  nothing.  My other Adobe software includes PS CS2, Audition, PS 6, Bridge and Bridge CS3 (this versionof Bridge is from the DW CS3 insatll...PSCS2 is an upgrade so I had to install PS 6 first then the upgrade.  Is PS6 and Bridge interfering and/or can I uninstall PS6 and Bridge?)
Where do I go from here?  I'm praying it's not an incompatiblity with the AMD processor!! I built and published my website with this DW and I'm stuck!!!
    Thanks,
    HG Guy

    PZ,
I tried a re-install with both firewall and antivirus turned off (ZoneAlarm and Avira).  No change, Dreamweaver will not start (but shows up in the Process tab in Task Manager) and will not allow Photoshop CS2 to run (i.e. Ps starts but freezes when opened) until the Dw process is stopped.  Bridge CS3 will open and did open a file after a second attempt in Ps (the first resulted in the usual freezing of Ps), but after closing Ps and restarting Ps once again would freeze until stopping in Task Manager. Stopping Bridge in Task Manager would then allow Ps to open normally.  Adobe Device Central will open but will not close except through the Task Manager.  Extension Manager opens and closes fine and doesn't interfere with Ps
I can click on Dreamweaver (which does not start but is listed in the Process tab) and then open Photoshop 6 and use it with no problems.
Very frustrating! Something in CS3 is interfering with CS2!
I did download and ran the Adobe Support Advisor. It reported:

Also when I click on the "package for support" to generate a key for support it quites at 30% and says information is too large for this configuration and to go to Adobe Support for more information...
So what should I do next?  Call an Adobe tech support person?
Is this maybe a problem with XP SP3? I have read in places that SP3 introduced anomolies, should I roll back to SP2 (if I even can?)

A google search of the problem suggested it may be an error related to the number of times I can reinstall this product due to licensing issues.
Absolutely not. You are misinterpreting things. The activation check never happens when just running the installer, only much later. It means what it says - there is another "install" pending/ active on your system, meaning somewhere there is an (invisible) process still blocking things. Either way, since you haven't provided any real technical info, we can't advise specifically. if you are on Windows, you may want to check your task manager and terminate any setup.exe and msiexec.exe processes plus potentially may need to manually fix/ delete some registry keys. For anything beyond that you will have to be much more specific.
