Can't start emCCR - JAVA_HOME doesn't contain java

Hi all,
Just a quick question regarding a problem I'm recently having with the Oracle Configuration Manager. I have it setup normally to run every fifteen minutes as is the default, I believe in Oracle's docs. However, it's now bombing out complaining that JAVA_HOME doesn't contain java. Problem is, JAVA_HOME is setup to go where it always has been and it is correct. JAVA_HOME is currently set to "/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/jdk/bin". This has worked in the past. I don't understand why emCCR is suddenly not picking this up. It does that even if i run emCCR interactively from a shell, just by running "/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/ccr/bin/emCCR start". This directly contains the java executables as it always has. Does anyone have any ideas or has seen this before? Seems very strange to me - any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
dave

Hi,
Before installing Oracle Configuration Manager, ensure that all the following pre-installation requirements are met:
•You must ensure that the required JDK version (1.2.2 or later on Unix, and 1.3.1 or later on Windows) is present in the ORACLE_HOME directory of the system on which Oracle Configuration Manager is being installed or the JAVA_HOME environment variable is pointing to the appropriate JDK directory.
•You must have your Customer Support Identifier (CSI) and your Oracle MetaLinkUserName with you as they are required when installing Oracle Configuration Manager in Connected mode.
•You must specify a valid Country Code when installing Oracle Configuration Manager in Connected mode. Country codes are associated with the Oracle MetaLinkUserName. Refer to the Oracle Metalink site (http://metalink.oracle.com) if you encounter registration failures and are uncertain that the correct country code has been specified. The country associated with the Oracle MetaLinkUserName can be found in the Profile section under the Licenses link. For a list of valid country codes,
see this link

  • Can Java be started in a directory that contains non ascii char

I installed a product developed using Java in a folder whose name contains non-ascii chars, such as Japanese chars or german chars.
This will cause error said: unable initialise java virtual machine, error code -1
Some one said Java doesn't like being started in a directory that contains non ascii characters. There appears to be no way of passing it unicode parameters.
Is there anyone once hit the similiar issue or know the root cause of such problem?
    Thanks

Yes you can use your web start application console. To enter data which is required for your application it is better idea to use java application which runs in console mode althou you may try to run console of windows and then read data from its input stream.

Well first off you shouldn't have had to pay for a download (just an assumption from the word "purchased".
If you are trying to install iOS 5 on your iPod touch, it won't work they arent compatible. I suggest checking what version of software you are trying to install and posting it in this forum so people can have a better understanding.

    Hello,
You are hitting a known issue that has been fixed in OC4J 10.1.3.1.
The work around is to remove the *.lock file in the $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home/persistence directory.
Let me know if that does not work after this.

  • NT service start of weblogic doesn't work (command line start works)...

    Hi,
We have WL 6 running on NT 4, and the server installed as a NT service.
We have some servlets sitting in the DefaultWebApp directory, but when we
start the WebLogic NT service we get an ERROR 400:
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    10.4.5 400 Bad Request
The request could not be understood by the server due to malformed syntax.
The client SHOULD NOT repeat the request without modifications.
The log states that the default context did not load properly. Maybe about
10% of the time, everything works fine
and we can access our servlets. When the error happens, we can't even
access the console, it still gives the same error 400. Interestingly, when
I start weblogic through DOS, it works 100% of the time with no error 400!
I installed SP1 and I still get the same behavior. I tried resetting the
config.xml....but sometimes I get the reverse behavior..where the service
works all the time and the DOS method doesn't work. Could there be
something with the servlets (they're pretty straight)? Some other parameter
or setting that I'm missing? Or is this just a bug?
    Thanks for any help,
    Ven

This is a known bug in the Windows native convenience programs.
If you start the server with the startWebLogic.cmd script or
from your own Java command line you'll get farther.
WebLogic Server 5.1.0 isn't certified yet on the 1.3 JDK because
1.3 had not been released in production form at the time of
the WebLogic Server 5.1.0 release. Our experience is that it
works well enough to do development work. Certification (and
support for deployment) is targeted for an upcoming service pack.

  • Can't start NT service for Directory Server using other acc. than LocalSys.

    Hi!
I'm using Directory Server 5.1 on a Windows 2000 machine.
I wrote a Plug-In for DS that needs Administrator Access to the NT Domain. So I tried to run the DS-Service as Administrator but the service can not start. I just keeps in status "starting...".
I don't get any error message and the errorlog doesn't contain anything.
    Has anyone an idea?
    Thanks!

I forgot to tell one thing: I use SSL, without SSL I do not have this problem. Perhaps it's only the popup I get when starting DS, where I have to enter the certificate password?

    Applies to:
    Oracle OLAP - Version: 10.1 to 11.1
This problem can occur on any platform.
    Symptoms
    - We have an AW maintenance / refresh script or procedure that contains BuildType="BACKGROUND", so that the AW maintenance task will be sent to the Oracle Job queue.
    - When we execute the AW maintenance / refresh script or procedure, we do not get any errors in the foreground, the script/procedure has been executed successfully.
    - However when we look into the build/refresh log (see <Note 351688.1> for details) we see that the maintenance/refresh task failed with:
    13:29:39 Failed to Submit a Job to Build(Refresh) Analytic Workspace <schema>.<AW Name>.
    13:29:39 ***Error Occured in BUILD_DRIVER
    - In the generated SQL trace for the session of the user who launches the AW build/refresh script or procedure, we see that ORA-27486 insufficient privileges error occurred at creation of the job.
We see from the relevant bit of the SQL trace that err=27486 occured while executing the #20 statement which is 'begin DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_JOB ...', and the statement is parsed and tried to be executed as user having uid=91:

    ERROR #20:err=27486 tim=465202984
    Cause
User who tries to create a job (executes DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_JOB() procedure) does not have the sufficient privileges.
    Solution
    1. Identify the user under which the job is supposed to be created. This user is not necessarily the same as the user who launched AW build/refresh script or procedure. Get the corresponding username from one of the %_USERS views e.g. from ALL_USERS.
    e.g.
    SELECT user_id,username FROM all_users WHERE user_id=91;
    2. Identify the system privileges currently assigned to the user by connecting as the user whom the privileges need to be determined, and execute:
    SELECT * FROM SESSION_PRIVS ORDER BY PRIVILEGE;
    3. Ensure that the CREATE JOB privilege is listed.
The CREATE JOB privilege can be granted in various ways to a user:
    - via role OLAP_USER or via role OLAP_DBA (see view ROLE_SYS_PRIVS for what privs are assigned to a role):
    GRANT OLAP_USER TO <username>;
    - explicitly
    GRANT CREATE JOB TO <username>;
