Can't start multiway audio

I'm trying to start a 3-way audio chat, we are all running 10.4.3. We can all connect to each other fine doing 1-1 chats. I'm initiating, and I have a 300+ KB/s. The absoluet slowest connection in our trio is a 97 KB/s upload speed.
If I try to invite both people at the same time, then one person can connect but one person can't. It gives me the "xxxxx did not respond" message. If I try to invite one person, and then the other person, sometimes I get the same problem. Other times the little "+" button is grayed out, so I can't even try to add that person to the chat.
Any ideas what is going on? We all have 1.2 GHz+ G4's with 90+ KB/s connection speed, so we meet the requirements. And we can all connect to each other fine using 1-1 chats.
Thanks for any help.

Hi bobmcfred,
The iChat min speed for 1-1 chats is 100kbps. (This tends to be a average figure in Real world practice).
The min for 4 way (multichats) is 384kbs. (See second table in the link above)
The slow uplink speed is just not fast enough.
Which one gets accepted will depend on who answers first.

  • ThinkPad E545 - After Win 8.1 update: Can't start Dolby Audio ...

I have just updated my ThinkPad E545 to Windows 8.1 today.  Every time after computer boots up, I get an Error message starting like "Dolby Advanced Audio - Can't start Dolby Audio. If this problem will stay restart the computer. I have Czech Wins that's why it should be little bit different. After restart the computer the note is there again. I found discussion where are helps like Uninstall Conexant, restart and then Install again. But the problem is still there. Maybe I do some mistake. Can anyone help me?

    hi Sperl19,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Your Dolby may not be synced with the Audio driver after the update,
Since Audio driver may had been updated by the 8.1 but not the Dolby app.
    Here's what to do:
    Open Device Manager
Uninstall the Audio Device Under Audio inputs and outputs
Then proceed to Control Panel / Programs / Uninstall a Program
                         Uninstall all Dolby Related programs
                                 Restart if Prompted
    Now install this software driver
     Conexant Audio Driver
Now open Drive C: on the upper right hand side of the screen you will find a Search pane
Type in "aa" and hit search
You should find 1 of the result as dolby or if not post a screen shot of the results here
If ever you found it install that and it should bring your dolby back
    Hope this helps
    Cheers!

  • I can't start an audio or video in ichat 6 on Lion

I chat used to work for me.  Now I can't start up audio or video chats.
The error message I get is
"iChat can’t start the audio chat."
"Your computer is busy in another chat."
    I have tried the following
    restart ichat
    reinstall ichat
    remove ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iChat*
I am using gtalk as my account.
    Any help would be awesome
    Nathan

    Hi,
In Snow Leopard iChat and Face Time could be open at the same time and in fact use the camera (and or mic) at the same time.
I am not sure this is possible in Lion so I would launch Face Time and check that it is Off in the Preferences.
Although deleting all the com.apple.ichat  .plists is excessive it should have closed any Open Chat (or what it thought was open) when you restarted.  (Although you don't say you have restarted iChat since deleting them)
However there is one setting that may have upset this.
In System Preference > General Pane (Used to be the Appearance pane) is a check box to Cause any Open window on Quit to be reopened on any app launch.
If any window is Minimised to the DOCK that is where it is put back.  (If it is trying to reconnect an audio or Video Chat this may be an Invite window)
As iChat can do Video and Audio Chats Peer-to-Peer it is pointless deleting com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist or the Jabber one or in fact the Yahoo one as once a chat is started you can log out of the relevant Buddy List (Make that Account Off Line).
It is possible that this a a new style Message in Lion to Say "Your Camera/Mic is in use in another application"
As Reinstalling (Hopefully iChat 6) and deleting all the .plist  and then restarting should have given you a clean slate, as it were, it is difficult to see what the issue could be or what to suggest next.

  • G780 - Windows 8.1 update - Can't Start Dolby Audio Driver

I just updated my G780 to Windows 8.1 this morning.  every time I boot up the computer, I get an Error message stating" Dolby Advanced Audio - Unable to start the Dolby Audio driver.  Please restart the computer or reinstall the driver if the problem persists.  I have restrtaed the computer and I do not know where the driver is for this or where to install it. Please help.  Computer is just over a month old.

    hi
The Driver I gave you is very huge (185MB)
This is because it contains the dolby installer,
It depends on the Version where it will be located after installing the audio driver
and what name it will have,
Try Searching then for Dolby but make sure you open you drive C: and do the search
    or otherwise
          Try Navigating these folders
Open My Computer or ThisPC open you Drive C:
Now we'll look for the dolby Advanced audio installer
Look for these folders as these are through my experience where it goes
Also when you find the right folder you will find two of them together (Dolby Advanced Audio and Dolby Home Theater) just install what came with your system the dolby advanced audio.
C: Drivers / Conexant (Then look inside on all the folders inside it lkook for anything says like dolby)
C: Conexant (Then look inside on all the folders inside it lkook for anything says like dolby)
C: Program files x86 / Conexant (Then look inside on all the folders inside it lkook for anything says like dolby)
C: Program files x86 / Conexant (Then look inside on all the folders inside it lkook for anything says like dolby)
Trust me its in your PC now you just need to look for the installer

  • How can I set the audio conference to automatically start AS HOST when the meeting starts?

I can easily setup an audio conference for any meeting, and set that conference to start.  However, there doesn't seem to be a way for the conference to start as the moderator (or, host) when the meeting starts.  This means I still have to dial in to the conference with a land line or cell phone and enter my host code to get the audio conference started.
The only audio conference provider at my company is The Conferencing Center.  I don't seem to have a TCC account.  What do I do to get this working?  It's nuts to have to use a land line just to get the audio going.

There are a number of integrated audio providers other than TCC, and those can be enabled in the Admin section of Connect. However, using the fully integrated bridge does still require that a Host/Leader be dialled in before audio will broadcast (or something other than hold music).
If you don't want to have to call in, I'd recommend that you use Universal Voice to tell Connect the dial in steps and give it the Host/Leader pin.Setting Up Universal Voice - Adobe Connect User Community.
The downside to this is that there will no longer be a dial out option for participants.

  • In GB, I need to insert an audio track. When I try, it obliterates part of the adjacent bridge (track). How can I insert an audio track in an audio timeline without stepping all over clean material? Is it possible to recover the "clean" track bridge?

Am doing an audio timeline in GB. Need to insert a corrected section of track. When I try the insert, it knocks out the top part of the adjacent track bridge/element. How can I insert cleanly in a timeline? Is it possible to "recover" the good track that was "stepped on?"

    Undo what?
    Insert in a new track?
I don't think so. I've started an audio book and I'm doing chapter long segments (assuming I can make simple corrections, such as ones made in iMovie and numerous other video editing programs. Routine edits in GB are simple and intuitive. I cannot wrap my mind around the fact that I'm prevented from doing a simple drag and drop, import or paste a two-sentence audio clip. Nor can I find any reference to straightforward audio elements.
Any suggestions you might have would be appreciated.

  • FMLE 3.2 and 3.1 can't detect an audio device with Windows 8.1

FMLE 3.2 and 3.1 can't detect an audio device with Windows 8.1 x64 on an MSI GT72-2QD laptop. I tried 2 different webcams but the result was the same. Both the internal mic and the ones going with the webcams work fine with other software but when I try FMLE it looks as follows:
It says that there's no audio device connected (although the mics work fine elsewhere), the dropout is blank and the audio parameters are grayed out and inactive even with the "audio" box checked. Both versions of FMLE work fine with the same cams on a desktop which has all the same tech specs but uses Win 7 x64. Running FMLE in Win7 compatibility mode or reinstalling with register cleaning doesn't help. What can be done about it?

    Hi Bob,
Thanks for the advice. It succeeded.
The steps I made was to make a disk copy of my original Windows XP disk using Disk Utilty. Then I renamed the disk copy into .iso. I copied the ISO file to my usb flash drive.
Than I started Parallels 7, created a new VM, selected the correct drive to install from (the usb flash drive) and volia, it worked.
    Finally...

  • Can only hear 1 audio track?

I,m new to Elements 10 and have just started editing. I just dragged a clip onto my timeline but can only hear one audio channel. I know there are two tracks, how can I mix both through?
    thanks.  Darrell

Hi Steve,  thanks for your help. but this has really got me beat. When I play the track straight off my computer I hear all audio tracks. But then I “get media”  bring the clip in and listen off the elements timeline – I only hear track one???
So my computer must be fine?
When you say “Can I see both right and left channel in the wave form? Its hard to tell – am I meant to be looking at the “green strip “ on the timeline?  Its so very small.  - I see a yellow line and a grey line underneath?  what am I looking at.  Its very frustrating because I am trying to edit a friends concert  and the music is on track one – but the atmos and applause is on the other 3 tracks – but all I can hear is the music
    any suggestions?
    cheers mate

  • Can't Start Pulseaudio

    Hi,
I don't know why but I can't start pulseaudio or alsamixer. I used to be able to start them, but I forgot what I had to do to get them running. I was just using it as a simple volume control when I had it working.
    I've tried:
    [gulliver@myhost ~]$ pulseaudio --start
E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon startup failed.
    [gulliver@myhost ~]$ start-pulseaudio-x11

    [gulliver@myhost ~]$ pulseaudio
E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Unknown command: (eg. when X is not active)
E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Failed to initialize daemon.
    [gulliver@myhost ~]$
    Verbose isn't any different.
In another thread I read somebody trying.  I got a pretty large output.

I have an app called ipieta which was originally downloaded onto an ipod. I gave the ipod to someone else, but now that I've had the iphone I can not get the audio even though it is downloaded into itunes music like it said to do.  It won't work.  I've tried more than several times to get help but nothing helps. Do I need to deauthorize the ipod or perhaps erase all the downloaded ipieta stuff and start over?
    Thanks for any suggestions

Sorry. There's nothing anyone can do. The current version of the facebook app will not run on 4.2.1. The iPhone 3G won't run anything higher than 4.2.1. You're stuck.
Maybe it's time to buy yourself a new iPod Touch.

Hello Sorry for the inconvenience, but I have a problem in Java I can not open files, audio chat, which type of jnlp after the last update of the Java 2012-004
Please help me in solving this problem.

Make sure Java is enable in your browser's security settings.
Open Java Preferences (in Utilities folder)
Make sure Web-start applications are enabled.
Drag Java 32-bit to the top of the list.
jnlp isn't an audio file format. It's just a java web-start program (Java Network Launching Protocol).

  • IPhoto 11 slideshow music: Can I start music after 1st slide?

Can I start the music at the second slide in IPHOTO 11 slideshow?

No. However, you can add a  track of dead air (silence) of a few seconds and use that track with the other track in a custom playlist. You may have to experiment with the length depending on the length of the sideshow if you use Scale to Music.  If you set a definite slide display time create the dead air track to that length.
You can use a 3rd party audio editor or Garageband to create the dead air track.

I can't start or receive iMess by my cellphone numbers but before I could.

I too presented the same topic earlier this year. In my world, the audio takes priority and syncing the visuals to fit. I copied this shortcut from my previous questions- hope it helps. I haven't made the jump yet to the Pro Software, but still on my wish list. If this shortcut doesn't work, SDMacUser was very helpful with explanations. http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7824582#7824582

I want to start with audio on a timeline and add photos. Why is this not possible in the new confusing version of iMovie?
    Yrs,
    Unspeakably Frustrated

Yes, you can do this. Drag the music track to the background and start adding your pictures. A great way to do this is to use beat markers so your photos will change on the beat.
A really fast way to do this is to line up your photos in an iPhoto album in the order you want them. You can drag the whole album into iMovie at once.
Here is a tutorial on the beat marker feature.
Here is a sample of a slideshow made by dragging in the music first, adding beat markers, and then adding photos.
