Can't start my oracle-xe server

Hi there!!
My name is Mamadou SADIO and i'm a new oracle server user. After i've finished installing my server and configure it, when i tried to install it, i recieved this message
Starting Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Instance.
Failed to start Oracle Net Listener using /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin/tnslsnr and Oracle Express Database using /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin/sqlplus.
I have installed ubuntu 10.10 on my eMachine E627.
Could someone help me please to resolve this problem???

exported ORACLE_HOME in the command That as well as adding ORACLE_HOME to PATH, and setting ORACLE_SID are pretty much a must in *nix, there are shell scripts set up in OH/bin to do just that- oracle_env.sh for most shell flavors, or oracle_env.csh for those using cshell ...

  • How can I start using Oracle Express Edition

Good afternoon, how can I start using Oracle Express Edition? I have it installed it but I can not enter any user or key that allows me to manage the program from the Internet. I have understood that this version is free.
Correct me I'm wrong and please do noted me. In my country this course very expensive and I'm looking to learn on my own.

    Hi
During installation wizard asked you about password for SYS and SYSTEM user, you had to set it. If you forgot you can loggin to ORACLE via SQL plus without password:
    c:\>SQLPLUS / sys as sysdba
after connect you can set new password for any user, for example (SYSTEM user):
    ALTER USER SYSTEM identified by NEW_PASSWORD;
After this you can login to APEX (Internet enviroment)
Remember Oracle it's not only Internet frontend, it's huge tools with many functions. If you need study Oracle you need many time and zest but it is worth-while.
Yes Oracle XE is free (read licence agreement).

  • Problem starting the Oracle Management Server service

    Hi
I have configured the Oracle Management Server (since I need to use the Jobs functionality) in an Oracle 9i home installed in my desktop. Then I have tried to put the service to work; it always starts and stops at once; the message also states that some services are automatically shutted down when they are not in use...
Also, I noticed that I cannot use the typical option when creating the repository for OMS because it does not accept the domain my computer is in (dgsaude.min-saude.pt) since it seems to be an invalid domain name...
I am a little under pressure here...Please help

Thank you very much; I will take a look at documentation; anyway, just a question I am in doubt about..the tasks I need to automate have to do with deleting the contents of some local tables, then run some SqlPlus queries to fill those tables again (I run them locally by using a database link to another database); final tables will be connected to an www site and refreshed. As I have understood, I can do this using DBMS_JOBS (for which, I think, I would need to learn some PL/SQL...) or configure the OMS to do it (which, as you said, can be a bit of a pickle in the start...). Given the situation, which one of these tools would you advise me to use?
    Thank You
    Andre

  • How can I start the Oracle services for windows?

I started the oracle services by order :
    ifs:
    1.tnslistener
    2.iasdb
    3.oid
    4.processmanager
    5.OEMwebsite
    mid:
    1.webcache
    2.discoverer
    3.processmanager
    Is the order correct?

    Hi Michael,
I think, then, that the problem is one of permissions. What I've done on Windows 7 installations is to go to the InDesign application folder (in program files), select the InDesign.exe file, use the Context menu (right-click) to display the Properties panel, and then turn on the Run This Program as an Administrator option in the Privelege Level section of the Compatibility tab. Click the Change Settings for All Users button to apply the change (assuming that your current user profile is an Administrator).
Let me know if that helps!
    Thanks,
    Ole

Have you also set the environment variable JAVA_HOME to your JDK 1.5 install dir ?
BTW: In your OC4J install dir you will find the script oc4j.cmd in the directory bin. With the help of this script you can start OC4J in a DOS box with the command:
    oc4j -start
And you can shutdown OC4J with the following command:
    oc4j -shutdown
Before you can use this script, you have to set two environment variables:
ORACLE_HOME to the OC4J installation dir
JAVA_HOME to the JDK installation dir

I followed Linux installation guide, Page 4-4, 4-5 to set up dbora script & link to rc0.d, rc2.d & rc3.d. But Oracle doesn't start when Linux starts. I can run "./dbora start" or "./dbora stop" and it works. I think somehow in Linux has problem to execute dbora script. Anyone knows why & how to set it up?? Thanks..

My dbstart is opening the datbase, lsnrctl is working okie, it is showing the services for orcl database, tnsnames.ora is okie.
But when i try to connect using sqlplus from the linux machine or from 98 machine thro' telnet or enterprise manager of 98, it is giving error ORA-01034 oracle not avaiable.
    Any guidence.

  • Can't Start a Local Weblogic server.

I have been trying for over a week now to figure this out. I have found no information on this issue and I don't know enough about WebLogic to find out what is going on.
I have a local weblogic 10.3.5 server on my work laptop that I need to use to be able to debug in eclipse. The problem is when I try to start the server I get these odd errors, pasted below. I have no idea what the server is attempting to do when it gets this error. How I've gotten along so far, is I found a way to get around this, but only from the command line, which won't work in eclipse. If I open up oracle quickstart, create a new domain, have quickstart start the admin server on the new domain, the server starts up, then I kill the server in the same command prompt, and go to the first domain and start it, it starts. But if I just go straight to the main domain and try to start it I get the below errors. Does anyone know, or could point me in the right direction, on what could be causing this or what I need to do to fix it? Thanks.

    ipmitool -U username -I lanplus -H xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx power on
so, I thought that the IPMI method works! However when I tried via the OVMM GUI environment, I got the following error. Actually the server stopped, most probably because of the acpi, but with an error, and after that It couldn't start again.
    Caused by: com.oracle.ovm.mgr.api.exception.IllegalOperationException: OVMAPI_4004E Server Failed Command: dispatch https://?uname?:[email protected]:8899/api/3 remote_power_off xxx xxx xxx xxx, Status: org.apache.xmlrpc.XmlRpcException: exceptions.RuntimeError:Failed to run: ipmitool -I lan/lanplus -H 192.168.1.5 ['power', 'off'] [Fri Jan 03 15:06:08 EET 2014
The server is a FUJITSU RX200 S5 and  I am not sure if it is certified for OVM, but that shouldn't matter for the starting and stooping via the IPMI.  Anyway has anyone else experienced similar problems? Is there a way to alter the ipmitool cmd options that OVMM uses?
    Thanks,
    Nikos
