2. Download and servers won't start in MAPP either.

If you're running Mac OS X Server 10.6 Snow Leopard Server, then MySQL is included, and is started with the Server Admin tool.
If you're using Mac OS X, then what's going on here depends on which MySQL port you're using. MAPP? Would you mean the MAMP tools here?

Problems with Mobile Me System Preferences after installing Snow Leopard

I installed Snow Leopard yesterday, and noticed that my calendar was no longer syncing between my mac and my iphone. I opened the system preferences/mobile me pane and my .mac account came up, but when I tried to hit the "sync" pane it just froze. It did this repeatedly. I trashed the system preferences file and tried again, with the same result.
Any ideas? I'd really like my calendars to continue syncing across devices.

I had same issue, this cured it for me...
- Open MobileMe in System Preferences
- Click Advanced
- Click Reset Sync Data
- Select Calendar from drop down menu/pop up list
- (In my case I changed the arrow, to copy all calendar events from my mac to mobileme)
This resets the data in mobile me.
After this the sync function worked as normal & my iPhone syncing was ok as well...

I just updated to the new operating system which i'm starting to think was a bad idea, because it reset all my settings and I don't know how to fix them.

so when I go to safari>preferences>security>uncheck box labled enable java script links on webpages don't work and pictures and links son't want to appear on websites. this made it so webpages don't want to work past loading the content in text format. I have to check enable java script to go the webpages to work right so images and links work again but when I try to apply for this job the error message pops up saying I need to enable cookies and java script.
SO I GUESS MY QUESTION IS IF JAVA SCRIPT IS ALREADY ENABLED HOW TO I ENABLE COOKIES?

Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder. Restart Skype. N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

This is a cropped image - of course hungarian, because I'm hungarian, but I think many of us could see this as well. How this is possible? "The Skype can not start because the system is not available" *** What kind of system? The Skype was on a P2P system, where is impossible that the system is not available! This is why the skype was much better than the Microsoft's messenger. Then they bought it, and make it wrong...
I found a solution for this problem, this can happen if my client is not updated. But IT IS!
How does it works? Can we use the **bleep** Skype how we would like to use? Or this time we need to find an other application (like Viber), and using that while they not buying that as well, just because that is better?

All of the sudden my System Preferences in Mavericks has stopped working and I get the error message:
You can't open the application "System Preferences.app" because it is not supported on this type of Mac.
It was working fine before this, and I have run Permissions Repair, restarted to another partition and run Diskwarrior and TechTool Pro, but none of those has helped. Anyone have any ideas why this happened, and what I can do to fix it?

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. Lion is required to see the iCloud Preference Pane: this is an upgrade, not an update, and has to be paid for. If you want to install Lion, go to the Mac App Store and purchase and download it there ($29.99).
First check that your Mac meets the requirements for Lion:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space

You installed Time Machine or Time Capsule? Time Machine is part of Leopard (OS X 10.5.x). If you are referring to Time Capsule, you set it up via AirPort Utility. You should have the install disk. If you are talking about Time Machine, can you confirm you have OS X 10.5.x? Your signature indicates you only have Tiger (OS X 10.4.11). If that is correct, you need to upgrade to Leopard.

Can't open "sound" in system preferences

I've had a problem with the earphone jack today.(A red light was appearing when i took off the earphones) Anyway i seem to fix it but i can't open Sound from System Preferences. It's like stucked. Everything else is working but i can't change anything about Sound.
What should i do?

you can try removing the audio settings, and see if you get get into settings.
to do so, open the terminal (applications, utilities)

Deleted mysql binary log files - can't start mysql

Hi all,
I had mysql running and used it for quite a while.
Since my disk ran out of space, I deleted all the mysql-bin.0000* files in the mysql data folder and configured that mysql should not use binary logs anymore.
Quite a mistake I assume; since now I can't start mysql(d) anymore.
I've tried a lot by now:
- re-installed mysql
- deleted everything in the mysql data folder
But I'm a bit stuck - and can't repair it anymore.. (there is not data loss, everything is backed up - that's not the problem).
Can someone please guide me in a good direction?

Disclaimer: I tried for many hours now, but since I'm quite new - I don't have a clue anymore what to do.

These are systemd, not mysql errors, and are quite useless as such -- you already know that mysql does not work Look for /var/log/mysqld.log or $datadir/<hostname>.err -- next time, of course, 'cos there's just one thing to do now: restore your mysql data folder, as there should be much more than binary logs Or, should you prefer to start from scratch, try to use mysql_install_db and then start mysql again.
For future reference, you can safely delete old binary logs from inside mysql using PURGE MASTER LOGS command, and/or consider using expire_logs_days config option.

Does it open in the guest user? If it's not enabled, you can do it from the apple >> system preferences >> users and groups. Open the lock, select the guest user account and check the box to allow logging into it.

They are DVDs with video files from a little more than 2 GB per file, were burned in Snow Leopard, with UDF file system, now that I updated to Mavericks when I try to read disks displays the directory in the finder a moment and then disappear and does not display them show them more. It is impossible to read the discs, but only those who were burned with UDF file system. Thank you for your help.
