Can't start ... tried a bunch of things ... what about network startup??

Greetings and salutations all you helpful folks,
I am battling away trying to get my ibook G4 to start.
I have mounted it as a terminal and it works fine as that, and I have retrieved all the data that I need from the hard drive but now I would like to fix it and use it again.
So, I have tried running disk utility but it says that there is nothing wrong and the volume checks.
I have tried putting G4 OSX install disk in but it won't boot from the CD with the "C" held down.
I then have to use open firmware to eject the CD to try the next thing, whatever that might be ...
but when the computer is in terminal mode I can get it to read the cd in the drive just fine, but when it boots on it's own it just doesn't seem to want to do it. It does spin the disk and seem to read it but then I get a message that says that I need to restart my computer and so I do and nothing better happens.
So, on a whim I tried my G5 disks from my iSight. I don't know why, I'm just desperate. And it told me it couldn't install that software and would I like to restart from the network or the harddrive.
and this started some questions in my head.
This G4 is on a network with a G5. What does "network start up" mean? Can I convince this little laptop to use the G5 as it's startup disk? Would that work? Could that work?
Next question, I seem to have to problems starting up into Open Firmware/ Is there something I can do in that mode that might check out my drive and or repair it and/or get it to boot from the CD?
I really need this little laptop on my system. It is used by other folks for simple things like internet and mail and ordering and now that it is down they are fighting for my machine ... aargh!!
help? any help is reallly needed now. HOw can these drives be dead or non functioning when I can read them and spin them from another computer? I feel like this is just a software problem and I should be able to get by it ... but it has me stumped. not hard considering how much of a computer non-techno geek that I am. Just a user am I. And a frustrated one at that!!

boot from the Mac OS X Install DVD that originally came in the box with your MacBook Pro (by holding down the C key as it starts up). When the desktop appears, select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu and erase your internal disk. After it’s been erased, reformat it. After it’s been reformatted, exit Disk Utility and reïnstall the version of Mac OS X from that DVD onto your internal disk. After that version of Mac OS X has been reïnstalled, boot from your internal disk and run Software Update to get it up-to-date within that version; that should allow you to redownload and reïnstall Mavericks, if desired. If Mavericks is reïnstalled, run Software Update again to get it up to date.
If you no longer have the two grey installation DVDs, you can purchase a replacement set from either Apple or iFixit.

Can't start (or create?) iCloud account, what am I doing wrong?

I want to take full advantage of all the functions in my iPod touch. But when I try to start up iCloud I keep getting the error message that 'due to server problems' I cannot do it. That has been happening for as long as I have the iPod. There is no iCloud app as far as I can see. Do I have to download that first? I am at a loss here. Thanks in advance for any help.

The 'sign in with your Apple id' thing drives me up the wall. I CAN NOT SIGN IN. I keep getting 'wrong user or password'. So I JUST SUCCESSFULLY changed my password. Tried to log in on my iPod but NO, STILL "WRONG USER OR PASSWORD'.
I am ready to throw this ipod through the window, NOW!! Sorry for this. It is just so terribly FRUSTRATING!!!!!

Can I Manage virtual machines using SCCM? What about Amazon ec2 instances?

Hi All,
As part of my lab environment, I would like to discover and manage virtual machines within ESXi platform and a few on Hyper-V. As part of this,
1] Do we need SC-VMM to create/discover/manage virtual machines or can this be done by using just SCCM 2012 module?
2] Does SCCM provide any connectors to public cloud services (ex: Amazon EC2 or Google Cloud services)? Can this be done using SCCM?
Any help on this would be appreciated. thanks

A few follow up questions just to make sure I understand you correctly:
a] Statement: I understand SCCM can manage OS within any VM (I just realized my set up has discovered 2 VM's running Win 2008 OS via AD discovery method). My confusion began after going thru SC-VMM docs. I assumed, once you have SC-VMM set up, it will discover/manage
either ESXi servers or Citrix or other vendor hypervisors and then discover VM's within the hypervisors. But as you said, SCCM can manage OS within any VM.
b] Q: my sccm set up is part of domain 'A' and its discovering systems/users as part of domain 'A'. Is there a way to discover systems as part of domain 'B'? When I look into 'discovery methods' -> Active directory system discovery -> Add a new container
-> path -> select a new container -> it selects only domain 'A'
As a result I'm not able to add a secondary domain for system discovery. IS this how its supposed to be? Discovery runs only within one domain? (or) am I missing something here?
c] When you said 'Yes, I do think (I'm not familiar with all things VMM though) that there is a connector to EC2', did you mean a connector from SCCM or a connector from VMM component?

Can't start Photoshop without deleting preferences file

Hi gang,
I have a Macbook Pro running Lion, OS X 10.7 that I purchased two months ago so it's relatively new. Just bought Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended and installed it on the computer a day ago. Software will not operate unless I hold option+command+shift when starting so that the preferences file is deleted. I'm hoping someone knows how to help me reset things.
I suspect that the problem stems from a plugin that I deposited into the plugins folder, because the software was working at first. I didn't piece this together until after the fact, but once I fired up the software a couple times after installing it, it worked fine each time. I noodled around and checked some things out to see what's new in CS5, then I went ahead and deposited a favorite plugin into the plugins folder. Things stopped working after this. Not positive the plugin is related, but thought I should mention it.
I removed the plugin of course, to no avail. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software three times. No difference. When I open the software without deleting the prefs file, it's just buggy and non-responsive. Can't start a new project, and thing just end up crashing every time. The software is useless without deleting the prefs file when firing it up.
Is there any hope of restoring things to normal? Thanks very much!

Are Photoshop and OS fully updated?
As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by keeping command-alt-shift pressed on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.

Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)
If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.

I think, sys admin means a superuser for the Enterprise manager.

Right click 'computer' in your PC/laptop (whichever). Click 'Manage', then 'Services and Applications', then 'Services', you should see 'Apple Mobile Device' running or stopped. If you couldn't find 'Apple Mobile Device', it means you haven't download iTunes into your PC/laptop (whichever).

Now the iPod is unusable with the Recovery mode loop. The full error below:
"iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes."
I can see my IPOD under devices on the left pane of iTunes while the error displays. But when I click OK, the IPOD disappears under DEVICES as does the DEVICES category.

I Have seen people report this issue when they try to sync their devices but in never seen it when trying to restore an unresponsive iPad. I would sguggest trying recovery mode now.
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
This procedure will totally erase the iPad so I hope that you have a backup that you can restore from....assuming that it works, that is.

Are you trying to call yourself to test FaceTime? If so, you must have a second E-Mail address registered with your Apple ID. In other words, there must be a different E-Mail address on each unit.
