Can't Start Up: staying in the blue screen for 8 hours...

HELP!!!!
My powerbook G4 can't start up
All goes well during StartUp untill it gets to a Blue Screen
then it stays there
its been 8 hours so far...
( i can see the mouse pointer )
This is my 3rd try -- but every time it just stuck in the blue screen stage
Please help.

First, I'd review the troubleshooting procedures on this page:
http://www.apple.com/support/powerbook/
Other things to try: remove the main battery and let the PB sit with the A/C adaptor connected for several hours. This will make sure the backup battery has some charge assuming it's not completely dead.
Then try starting the computer with the SHIFT key depressed ("Safe mode"). This does some directory repair. If you get a desktop via a safe boot, do not try to use the computer just yet. Do a normal restart, then see if it is usable.
If you have your system disks or the disks you used to install Tiger, dee if the computer will boot from them by holding the "C" key during boot.
How full is you hard drive? You need a minimum of 15 percent free space for the OS to work with any efficiency.
Because there are several variants of the 17" G4 PowerBook, it would be helpful to people here if you would add the processor speed to your equipment line. Showing how much RAM you have is also useful. That way you can get help faster because people don't have to ask first.

  • When I try powering up my phone it stays on the logo screen for a few seconds then turn off, whats wrong with it?

When I try to power up my iphone 4 32g, it will stay on the apple screen for a few seconds then turn off. even when I try connecting it to my computer it turns on for a few seconds then turns off. Whats wrong with it? and what do I do about it?

Have you tried charging it with another known working USB sync cable?  After letting it sit to "charge" for at least 30 minutes, have you tried resetting the device by pressing and holding both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • My iPhone was downloading iOS8 and it has been frozen on the loading screen for 5 hours

My iPhone was downloading iOS8 and it has been frozen on the loading screen for 5 hours, I have plugged it into my iMac but the iMac can't cancel the download without me typing in my password on my phone, which conveniently isn't working
It won't power off or on or anything, it is just stuck on the white background with black apple sign!!

    Hi esmelicious,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know it can be frustrating when you run into issues updating to the new iOS. In your specific situation, I would recommend placing your iPhone in what is called recovery rode and restore it from there. Please use the steps and information located in the attached link to restore using recovery mode.

  • My computer won't turn on, it just stays on the blue screen, whats wrong?

This has happened before, but the problem was supposed to go away. A window pops up randomly and says "start-up disk is full" and i just click "OK" and move on. But then today i turned off  my computer and about 30mins. later I turned it back on and it got stuck on the blue screen. WHAT DO I DO?????

Reboot holding the Shift Key down and target some large files like Movies to copy to a external storage drive, then delete them from the boot drive and reboot a couple of times so OS X realizes there is new space available and boots normally again.

  • So after updating my ipod touch 3rd gen to 4.3.1 i noticed a lag everytime i turn it back on. it stays on the lock screen for minutes sometimes hours. the screen is usually unresponsive the only things usually changing are the time and battery percentage.

so aafter upsating my touch to 4.3.1 i have noticed everytime i restart the ipod there is a huge lag at the lock screen. the screen only updates itself every three to five minutes only updating the time and battery status. i cannot do anything, usually it will stay like this for minutes sometimes hours. i have tried restoring it and thought updating will fix the problem but it hasn't yet. i currently have ios 4.3.3. recently i had a friend look into the ipod and he told me on a folder called damaged files he found this, 37c3ad com.apple.autowake.plist. how can i fix this?

  • Trying to restore my phone, but it's been on the same screen for 5 hours "syncing contacts"?

Something's probably wrong with the program; Close it and reboot, or you may need to reinstall iTunes.

It goes to the restart in safe/safe with networking/normal mode.  When I choose any of these windows screen comes up and the lttle blue balls start to roll.  then screen goes blank as if windows is to start but goes back to the resrat in safe/etcmode.  Help...

Did you burn the DVD from ISO?
Did Windows get fully installed & updated? added Apple Boot Camp after?
If you still don't have 10.6, you won't have Boot Camp 3.x drivers (and later) for Windows 7.

  • My Apple TV 2 has been stuck at the update screen for 18 hours, what can I do?

I read about the 4.4.4 update yesterday. I always actively install new updates as soon as they're issued. This time my Apple TV has been stuck on step 1 of the update. The progress bar has been at about 90% since yesterday. Right below it says not to unplug the device while updating. No other controls respond. What do I do? I'm afriad to brick if I unplug it. Anyone has any tips for me?
PS. I do not have any jailbreaks on it. It's stock.

I have the same problem updated my Apple TV 2 yesterday and it got stuck on the Apple and the apple tv is blinking at a steady.  Restored in iTunes hooked it back up to my tv, input all my settings, wifi, apple id, and netflix.  and did not do anything else, came back in and the light was blinking steady on the apple tv again and stuck on the Apple logo.  Restored in itunes again and hooked back up, just hooked up my wifi settings and manually rebooted.  Same thing got stuck on the apple logo.  What to do?

  • HT1492 Start-up disk is full and can't go past the blue screen; can't delete read-only files on single-user mode. Please help.

I have had my Mac mini for about 6 years and I guess it had enough of me (haha), so the start-up disk got full and it shut down before I could empty files on my drive. Unfortunately, all these years I hadn't backed up anything and now I can't access anything since it won't boot past the apple logo (and the blue screen for that matter). I have tried rebooting (holding shift as the mac mini loads), but that didn't help since the start-up disk will still be full and stuck on the blue screen. I am now trying the single-user mode (holding command key+s), and I tried to delete files in the trash bin but all of the files are read-only and access is denied! so I basically can't delete anything on the mac mini (it says "Root device is mounted read-only"). So the key here is to change the permissions but I don't know how to exactly do that. Can someone help me figure this out? (and type the command in the unix language please!!) [ Note: We have two users on this mac mini if that helps.]

    Run the following command:
    mount -uw /
    This isn't a permissions issue.

  • My MacBook pro is less then a year old and when I try to shut it down it gives me the blue screen and the loading spinner but the doesn't do anything or shut down. I've already tried to reinstall Mac os x but that didn't work any ideas?

It stays on the blue screen forever until I manually shut it down

Cooper, please start a new thread.  You'll get a wider audience and won't confuse Quintonaturner  with issues that don't pertain to them.  You don't know they have Office.  Many Mac users don't.  http://www.neooffice.org is a nice alternative, and so is http://docs.google.com/ as long as you don't have Exchange servers that aren't Mac OS X Mail compatible.

  • So my imac is stuck at the blue screen

  • After wakeup I get a blue screen for a sec then my desktop after; normal?

Hi, I dont remember this happening before, but then who knows.
But, when I wake my computer up from its nap, I first get a blue screen for a second than my desktop appears. Is there a malfunction of some sort?

    Hi poops,
I am hoping it is normal, my iSight wakes from sleep the very same way as yours...
I also access an eMac on a regular basis, and when you wake it from sleep it just goes straight to desktop in an instance, while ours go to the blue screen for what seems like an eternity but only a second or so before going to desktop. This is explained by our Energy Saver Preferences, I have my display (5 minutes) and computer (15 minutes) go into sleep mode, while the eMac lets the display go into sleep mode but computer is set to never sleep.
I would say don't worry, if it bothers you, set your System Preferences > Energy Saver > Sleep > Computer 'Never' but set your display to sleep... Good luck, Rick
BTW - I think it is a good idea not to use a screen saver

  • I tried to soft reset my ipod touch with the top button and the screen button.  it turned off and went to the blue screen with the apple.  now it won't do anything-it has stayed on that scren for 4 hours now.  does anyone know how i can fix this?

i tried to soft reset my ipod touch with the top button and the screen button.  it turned off and then went to the blue screen with the apple like it should.  however, it now just stays on that screen.  it has a sort of clock looking thing at the bottom of the apple that does not move either.  it has stayed on this screen for over 4 hours.  i also can not hard reset it in itunes.  i am not really goood at this sort of thing.  does anyone have this problem or a possible solution?  thanks

    Frozen or unresponsive iPod touch
    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
    Restart..  Reset..  Restore...
Try this First... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the iPod Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the iPod On...
If that does not help... See Here:
