Can't stay connected

Hi. bought my wife a Toshiba Satellite laptop.  For some reason, she cannot stay connected to the internet via wireless even though she is getting an "excellent strenght" signal. (using befw11s4v4 router). Hard wired to the router is not a problem.  I have two other laptops which have no problems.  The other two notebooks are not used when the Toshiba is in use so there is no conflict.  (running XP by the way).  No file sharing programs are being used. Never had this problem until I bought the toshiba.  Could this be a wireless card problem or is there some kind of tweek I can do?  Would appreciate any advise.
Thanks

If it show connected status under wireless network connection .....check the Ip address under the same ........ if getting any valid Ip address like 192.168.1.X ....with gateway 192.168.1.1 ....... try to ping the gateway address & try going online
Try above settings after disabling the firewall & antivirus software ....

  • HELP!!! CAN'T STAY CONNECT WITH 54GS

I recently did a clean install and installed my wireless router again.   I can't stay connected using this.  I can very rarely get online for a minute or two.  I have spent many hours on the phone with Linksys and they can't seem to figure it out.   I had no connection problems before the clean install.  Are we missing something?  When I connected this computer to the main router I had no trouble staying online.  I hope someone can help me with this.

Are you facing problem on wired as well as wireless connection??
Check the configuration once again .... if required upgrade .... download the latest firmware from linksys website .... ...after upgrade reset & reconfigure the router ...
Observe the connection now ....hope it will work,......

  • Can not stay connected to Airport express

I have an airport exress that is less then 9 months old.  I have my internet provide wirlessely so my macbook pro picks up the signal and i share it with the airport exress.  With the AE set to bridge mode.  This was all working fine for the last 3 months, but now for some reason I can not stay connected with any of my devices wirelessly with the AE.  I try to connect with my Iphone 4s and when i click on the network to connect i never recieve a check mark on the left all it does is give me the moving circle.  I try to search the web on the phone and it will work for a second then not work for who know how long then work for a second ect.... i have hard rebooted the AE, reset network settings in my phone, reset smc and pram.  when i access the ae through airport utility on my mac the internet shows green and the AE show amber becuase it says it does not have a valid ip address.  I access the AE from my phone and the AE shows the same and the internet will go from green to amber and back.  Also it will not stay connected to the AE i try to change setting on the AE through my phone and as long as i do it quickly it works fine, but if i wait anylonger then 10-30 seconds the phone drops the AE and i have to start over even though it will pick it up again with in  a second or two.  this is the same for ipad, three iphones, dell computer, and a android phone.

Simply reconfigure your Airport Express to either use for airtunes only or to extend the range of the existing network. This effectively connects the Airport Express to your main wireless router as a basic access node rather than a separate router creating its own network.
If you consult the User Guide that came with your Airport Express you'll find additional information on how to setup an Express to simply extend a local wireless network rather than function independently.

  • Please help. I can't stay connected to internet idk what to do

Hello, i just bought my macbook pro. Its a Mac OS X ver. 10.5.7 with a 2.26GHz processor.
    I have a Netgear 54mbps wireless router WGR614 v8 and a Motorola SB5100 SURFboard Cable modem.
Now the problem im having is with the internet connection with my mac. I live in Virginia and It was working before i went on vacation to tennessee which is an hour behind virginia. It was able to connect with no problems. It was also connecting fine in tennessee as well. But when i came back to Virginia, the mac would connect to my router or atleast say its connected but i can't use the internet at all. I would load either firefox, safari, or itunes store and the page would begin to load and then stop loading in the middle. As if it was freezing, dropping the connection or something. When i look through the airport connectivity, it would stay connected to my router with still no access to the internet. I also checked to make sure i was in the correct time zone with my mac and it was correct.I have a wii, xbox, original pc that are connected to router that operate perfectly. its just my macbook wont connect wirelessly when it used to before i went to tennesse and took it with me. Some of the error messages that i get when i try to use the internet via macbook now are "can't open page because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection" but then minutes later it would connect again, then internet would work. But shortly after it would stop working for a while. and the process continues like a cycle. PLEASE HELP BECAUSE IM CLUELESS. i've looked at many forums but no solution.

Also when i am able to temporarily connect to the internet, it runs super slow and then shortly afterward it looses connection completely. My Mac is no more than 2 feet away from my router and modem

  • IPod Touch can't stay connected to iTunes

I just bought an iPod touch but when I try to connect it to my WinXP laptop, it won't stay connected for more than a few seconds. I hear the iPod make a sound when it sees that it is connected to my laptop and it appears in the iTunes list for 10-30 seconds before disconnecting. After several tries to stay connected, sometimes iTunes claims that it can't connect to the "iPhone" and gives me an error 0xE8000001.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes. No success.
I tried different USB ports. No success.
It seemed to work fine for the first few days after purchase but now this problem has come up

    Hi, DJSchmike.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are experiencing issues with iTunes disconnecting your older iPod nanos automatically.  This can be difficult to troubleshoot and you have already processed some great steps with no resolution.  The next step would be troubleshooting USB connections and security software conflicts.  Here are some troubleshooting guides that I would recommend going through.

  • How can i stay connected to a wi-fi network?

my problem is that everytime i turn on my ipad i have to reenter the id and password of my network to stay connected.how can i resolve this?thx

So...my boyfirend just informed me on how to fix this problem.  So I'm responding to my own post to help anyone else with the same issue.
Under network preferences (Its at the bottom of the list when you click on the wireless symbol on the top bar), click advanced and it will pull up a list of wireless networks you have saved.  Click and drag the wireless network you want to use to the top of the list and click apply.
You should have no more problems staying connected to your preffered wireless network!

  • Internet Connect via PPPoE-- can I stay connected?

I connect to the internet via PPPoE and I'm wondering two things. First, is there any way to make it so the window that says "do you wish to stay connected to the internet?" no longer comes up? It comes up every 30 minutes or so, and is incredibly annoying, especially if I'm watching a movie or something.
Second, (though this may be the answer to the first question), is there any way to stay connected to PPPoE continuously. My computer automatically boots me after a while of inactivity if I leave my computer alone, and I'd like to turn this off.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Open the Network pane of System Preferences and choose Built-in Ethernet. From here, choose PPPoE, and then check if there is a reminder set here; if so, turn it off.

  • IPod 2 can't stay connected to wifi after iOS6

I download iOS6, worked fine for a few hours. Went out to eat, came home and now it cant stay connected to the wifi. I have rebooted my wifi and my ipod already. It will connect and a few seconds disconnect and bring us a strange brower Apple page that says "hmmm the page you're looking fopr cant be found"
Please help! I have no way to connec it to the internet now

Have you tried connecting to other WiFi connections? If so does it do the same?
If not, it might just be to do with the amount of periphirals on your current router and subsequently your router is kicking off you iPhone.
Or you could try changing your broadcasting channel in your internet router settings and see if this fixes it

  • Can't stay connected to Linksys RE1000 extender after upgrading to Yosemite

Ever since upgrading to Yosemite I'm having trouble staying connected to the WIFI network that I have extended through a Cisco (Linksys) RE1000 Wireless-N extender. It was working fine prior to the upgrade to the final version (even through all Yosemite preview versions).
I've reset and resetup the RE1000 and I continue to have the problem. The WIFI seems to work fine when I connect to other WIFI networks, it's just this one for some reason.
    Anyone using one of these?

I've reset and it says it doesn't work with Yosemite... currently engaged in a twitter conversation with @LinksysCares.
So you buy an extender (two years ago) and already it's become useless.
    Thanks Apple & Linksys.

  • Can't Stay Connected to WIFI with brand new MBA

I just set up my new MBA, and cannot stay connected to wifi, no matter what I do. Sitting next to my MBA is my IPAD and IPhone which both show wifi connection working. I have followed the advice from the community posted in August ( wish I knew the MBA wifi problem before buying), with no luck. No other devices shows wifi connectivity problems, router works great, and I cannot download any patches due to connectivity issue.  UGH.  Any wisdom to share?
    Thanks

  • My wife and I share our Mac OS 10.6.8 since downloading Skype on her account she can not stay connected to any web site she pulls up. I removed Skype from here account but it stll happens. What can I do to clear this up?

My wife and I share the same Mac OS 10.6.8 and since downloading Skype on her accout she came not asty connected to any web site for more than a few seconds. I have remove Skype from her account but not mine. I don't have the problem on my accout and I still have Skype loaded. How can I fix this problem?

O.k. Thanks for the clarification. I poked around in my TimeCapsule router's settings (TimeCapsule is an Apple Airport Extreme router with attached hard drive for wireless backup/storage). Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I can disable multicasting with the TimeCapsule. I can change the multicasting 'rate'. Settings are Low, Medium, High. It's currently set to Low.
I did a few web searches, and found an Apple.com article: <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3789?viewlocale=en_US> which explained how to disable Bonjour Service Advertisements. I believe this is the same thing as 'Multicasting'. The process is a modification of "/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist", and a restart of the Mac is required afterwards.
I'm a bit concerned that disabling multicasting will interfere with my AppleTVs and iTunes music sharing, but I may try it next time I'm up for a computer workout. This task will require editing of system preference files, could require multiple restarts, might interfere with my AppleTVs, could interfere with my iTunes file sharing, doesn't have a documented relationship to my problem.
This is way to difficult for something that should just work. Did you say you had read something about a relationship between this bonjour multicasting and smb connectivity? If it was online could you post the link?
I'm currently able to connect to the drive using NFS, but I have to manually configure that connection each time I reboot (can't get the 'Disk Utility' configured to do it automatically). While it's working with NFS, it's not my preferred connect method (for various reasons).

  • Connected to wifi but can't stay connected to internet

I currently have a curve 9300, and my service provider is Telus Mobility. I am connected to wifi and up till about 3 days ago everything was working fine, now it shows I am connected, but I can only get on internet for about 5 mins, I have to shut off all my connections then reconnect them for it to work again. Any ideas as to the problem?

OK...then, with your WiFi radio OFF (e.g., solely running on your carrier data network), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you!
If not, then I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, does the behavior still present? If not, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
If the behavior does still present in Safe Mode, then you may want to try this procedure to perhaps narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
    Good luck!
