Can't stay logged in...

Still trying to get used to the new format around here, however one thing is really annoying, every time I exit the site and come back, I have to log in again.  In the past I would have to log in each day, I was surprised by even that, but now it's every time I come back to the site.  Is there anyway to disable this, I'd prefer to be logged in all the time, like on most forums.

I am kinda unwilling to prove it right now, but it may be that you need not Quit your browser but merely close all the tabs with ASC content.
I have been logged out without quitting the browser, but am unsure wether it was a timeout thing or the tab closing.
Either way, deggie is right. The site has no way of knowing if you are in some public place, such as a cube farm, or not - better fiscally safe than sorry.
Would be interesting to know if there is an actual timeout period for login. I pretty sure I have experienced a timeout. but thought it normal at the time.

How can i stay logged in on iPhone Skype after i delete the app from the 'current' apps?
    Thanks for ur answers !

You are correct. There is no other way to recover this material, and yes it would have been a good idea to backup the iPhone prior to the restore. Remember that a restore to a previous date deletes everything on the device and puts it back to the state of things on the date you choose. The texts and contacts would be gone. Did you possibly sync the contacts with a supported application on the computer? That is the only other way to recover contacts. They are designed to be synced with a supported application on the computer, or with a cloud service such as iCloud, Google or Yahoo.

  • Can't stay logged in to this site

Couldn't find a better place to post this so here it is...
I can't stay logged into this forum from my work or home desktop. As soon as I close the browser, I have to log back in. I don't think it's a security setting because I have no trouble staying logged into other forums/sites on either computer. This is the only site I have trouble with. A search revealed a few people with the same problem but no solutions. Also, I didn't see a setting or checkbox to keep me logged in. Any ideas on how I can stay logged in? TIA.

This is surprising. This is the first forum (of many) that I've ever seen that won't allow me to stay logged in. Is there any good reason to do this? One of many Apple quirks I guess. Sometimes I wonder if they do some things just to be different.

  • Safari... can't stay logged into sites after navigating away, or switching to/from other applications.

Ok so I have a Macbook Pro(2009) with Safari Version 5.1.2 and I can't stay logged into websites. For example.... If I'm logged into facebook, I then navigate to google and then back to facebook, I will then be logged out. Now before you say it, yes, I check the keep me logged in buttons on sites and this is not even close to being exclusive to facebook, just merely an example. This also occurs if I stay on the web page I'm signed in on then open up, lets say, itunes. When I then go back to the webpage, I'm signed out again. This is rediculously frustrating. It makes safari completely unusable with any application or with multiple webpages. I usually love safari and never wanted to switch to any other browser but I don't think I can hold out much longer with this. Also, I'm not sure if theres any other info that someone would need to help diagnose this bug but let me know and I'll post it. Thanks for any help in advance.

I, too, have this problem. I have used Macs for years and have never had this problem before. It has just started and I'm not sure if I did a Safari update recently which might have created the issue. From reading on-line posts, this apparently has existed for years and now it is just my turn.
Firefox works fine; I stay logged in on Firefox 'forever' but I prefer Safari. If it continues, I'll be using Firefox.

  • Can't Stay Logged In After Shutting Down My Computer

I don't know if I have Mountain Lion but this is the only place I can find to post a question. I have 10.6.8 on my MacBook. I got a new hard drive and now every time I shut down the computer it makes me log in again when I turn the computer back on. The only option to stay logged in is in Accounts in System Preferences. I have "Automatic" checked and my name in the box. Still, it asks for a password every time. I went to the Apple store and the guy I talked to tried it and it didn't work. He looked online and couldn't find it. How do I stay logged in. I've looked at everything on the login page and I can't find anything checked or unchecked that needs to be changed. I went to "Security" in System Preferences and the disable automatic login box is unchecked. I'm so frustrated. Do you know what I am doing wrong or why it won't keep me logged in?

If you are using 10.6.8, you have Snow Leopard.
Shut down the computer or put it to sleep?
I am currently in the Mountain Lion partition on my hard drive, but I boot into my Snow Leopard partition every night, so I can look tonight.
You have checked the two obvious places to check.
Without being able to see Snow Leopard now, I suggest you try some basic maintenance to see if it helps. At least that square will be filled.
Run Disk Utility/Repair Permissions. Repeat until it shows no repairs were made. Clearing the log in between runs can make the process less confusing.

  • Can't stay logged in on any site

Never had this problem before. I could easily stay logged in to my email, facebook and a few forums but now I have to log in everytime even when i tick the box to stay logged in for 2 weeks. Its very frustrating. I hope someone has some suggestions. Thanks in advance.

It all started after I scanned my computer using ClamXav.
When I'm leaving these sites I often just close the window. I've been doing the same for a long time now and have never had to log back in. Now its after everytime I close a tab or quit Safari. I've tried resetting safari and reentering my usernames and passwords for yahoo mail, facebook and a few forums I use and its the same. Autofill is on and the websites I've tried since resetting are listed there but it won't keep me logged in.

  • I can't stay logged in to Netflix between two sessions

Since a few days I can no longer stay permanently logged in in Netflix even though I check the "stay connected" option. Any solution?

    I would do a things:
    Clear cookies
    Clear cache
Update Microsoft Silverlight (runs the Netflix stream)

  • I can't stay logged in in the forum

Recently I am always logged out when I close my browser. (Chrome).
It doesn't ask my password so I assume the cookie was successfully written but nevertheless when I close the browser I have to sign in again next time I use the forum.
In the past I was automatically logged in but that is no more the case.
    What could have caused this?

I logged-on to the forum last night, yet with a fresh browser just now I found I had to try to log in.  I say "try", because the login process never finished - it just sat there and spun.  So I closed that IE browser window and opened another one, clicked the "Sign In" link again, then it went briefly to the login screen, then here, where I could post.
As far as I can tell, nothing's improved.
This web site development stuff has apparently become nearly impossible to do (even the US Government can't manage it).
As a 37 year software engineering veteran I find this situation apalling!  Adobe people, you need to take a hard look at what's going on here!  Your company has been able to maintain a state of the art package (e.g., Photoshop) for over 20 years.  Maybe you should ask the folks over in the Photoshop team what things they go through to make sure they can keep engineering that complex product without it coming down in flames.

  • How can I stay logged into Apple Support

Is there any way that I don't have to re-enter my password each time I want to use Apple Support?  When I go to use Support, my ID is entered automatically but the password has to be put in.
    Thanks for any advice.

I opened up Keychain in Utilities and double clicked on the link in question.  It opened up as shown in the attached. I then tried to click on 'show password'
and the top box opened up.  I tried entering my present iMac password but it wouldn't accept it.  Any hints at this point?
I do appreciate you hanging in here in what is turning out to be a lengthy thread.  Cheers/Bill

  • Won't Stay Logged In - Can't Save Password

I'm using Chrome. I can't stay logged in since the new bt log in changes.
On my home pc I normally just have one bookmarked link that takes me straight to my inbox.
With the new changes, I keep having to re-log in, sometimes even minutes after last logging in. There's also no option for Chrome to remember my password and no option on the website to remember my log in details.

  • Since I updated Firefox I have to constantly re log-in to my Yahoo account such as email. Every time I leave the page I have to log-in to get back into it. I also run OPERA and I do not have that problem with them. I stay logged in. Any suggestions?

I have windows Vista and have the updated version of Firefox. I also can run OPERA and LUNASCAPE with no problems. When running Firefox I have to constant re log-in to my Yahoo account every time I leave the page. For example: I log in to check my email on Yahoo and then leave my email page. Then when I return to recheck my email I have to log in all over again. I can't stay logged in. If I run my OPERA browser I stay logged in for days without having to sign in all over again.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

  • How to stay logged in to ebay

I can't stay logged in to ebay while using safari 5.05. Same problem with previous versions of safari. Move away from the ebay page and you have to log in again.

    Hi Richard
If you haven't already - remove all ebay cookies via Safari-Preferences-Security-Show Cookies; using the filter to reveal just ebay ones.
After that - ebay will still occasionally think you need to log in, sometimes from intentional security efforts, and sometimes mid-listing due a problem with their site & safari (I've never found a good way out of that, although often opening a new tab/window  shows me still logged in & able to do most things, including sometimes) saving a draft.
If you still find yourself logged out every time, there must be something else amiss - start by testing briefly in a New User Account

  • Staying Logged In on My Iphone

I've looked at the forum here for answers on why I can't stay logged in to websites through Safari such as Facebook or Hotmail without having to reenter my username and password many, many times...since i get logged out if select an item to look at, or after looking at an email. I read in the forum about cookie problems in the updated 1.1.4 Safari...but the only answers seem to be about adjusting term-vt100 in installer... which involves third party applications and jailbreaking. Is there anyway of fixing this problem on a non-jailbreaked phone in safari? This was never a problem a couple of months ago, when iphone would keep me logged into web sites for a much longer period of time. I've also cleared out my cache, cookies and history, and enabled cookies to always...so what else can i do? it makes it virtually impossible to use facebook on iphone for example. Joe

If I remember correctly, Apple forgot to change the permissions of the cookies folder.
There is no fix for it without jailbreaking. I'm sure Apple fixed it in 2.0 (since they rewrote the thing).
It also depends on the site, too. Facebook used to be fine. Then there was a period where it was impossible to do stuff like send a message, etc. since it would log you out...but now it seems to be fine.

  • How can I get MY LOGIN to stay logged in for twoweeks or more.....Currently I have to log in every time I go to firefox with ID & Password. The box does not affect it.

When I click on the Firefox logo it owns screen and the mail box button appears. I click on that and it requires me to enter my e-mail address and password. There is a box with a checkmark in it to stay logged in but it doesn't work. Whether it is once a day or 4 times a day I go to Firefox to look at mail I have to put in the full e-mail address and password even though the box is checked to stay logged in. I really like firefox as a browser but we have to fix this for me to stay with FireFox.

Apps can only be updated using the same Apple ID and password they were originally purchased with.

  • Can't get Safari to stay logged in to sites.

I want to make the Switch from Google Chrome to Safari, but this has proved impossible so far, because Safari will not stay logged in to a lote of sites.  It seems that various Internet forums are the worst offenders, but I've noticed it on occasion with my Gmail account and a few other things as well.
I've tried most of the obvious things: Deleting cache, cookies, and whatnot; turning on "always accept cookies," rather than the default about ignoring ones you don't manually visit, which shouldn't be necessary anyway; deleting some entries from Keychain Access; even deleting Safari's settings .plist file.  None of those have worked.  It almost seemed good again for a brief moment, but then I once again got stuck in an endless loop of logging in (i.e. navigate to forum page, goes back to login page, I log in, navigate to forum page, goes back to login page, repeat ad nauseam.)
I don't have this problem with any other browser I've used, and it's pretty much a deal breaker w/r/t using Safari as a default browser.  I've read quite a lot about this being a very common problem, but I couldn't find any great answers, not to mention that a lot of the stuff I found was years old.
    Any ideas?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.
