Can't submit my job - no cluster listed

Hi,
I'm having problems with Compressor (3.5) where when I click submit it brings up the submit screen but for the 'cluster' dropdown box it doesn't give any options, therefore the submit button is greyed out. I've tried manually adding the host but it doesn't make a change to the list. I've tried stopping and starting sharing through Qmaster (through the control panel) no luck. The only thing that I've done since it last worked is installed "Final Cut Studio Maintenance Pack" and run Compressor Repair which is supposed to "diagnose and repair the fragile links between Compressor and Qmaster" - ya it didn't work!! Any ideas?
Cheers,
Phil

did you blow out the preferences?
Do that first, for both compressor and Qmaster.
if that doesn't work, remove them and reinstall. Digital Rebellion publishes some excellent software for removing the apps selectively. It's important to completely remove them before reinstalling. Otherwise you can end up with the same preference errors causing the same problems.

  • Submit remote job to HDInsight cluster using its IP address.

    Hi there,
    I am using HDInsight and trying to submit jobs in it. I am able to submit jobs using the API provided by Azure. This works fine. Also, I am able to submit job in remote machine by opening the remote machine using VM.
    I am now trying to submit the job to the HDInsight cluster from my machine using the IP address of the remote machine. I am not able to submit any job into it. It throws out some sort of error.
    Please help me on this.

    Hi Sudhir,
    Thanks for looking into this.
    We can submit job in hadoop cluster using the IP address by the following method.
    1) Configure certain XML files like core-site.xml,Hdfs-site.xml, Yarn-site.xml in cluster machine(namenode) with the IP address of the machine. I also make the similar change in the configuration files in my machine under the location "..\\etc\\hadoopcluster_IPAddress".
    2)Now, execute the command pig --config "..\\etc\\hadoopcluster_IPAddress" in my machine(which is connected to namenode machine of the cluster through LAN). Now, the Map-reduce job gets executed in remote machine.
    I am trying a similar approach for submitting the job in HDInsight cluster. I use the Headnode IP address and modified the configuration files and used the same command as above. But, I am wondering why it not working.
    I am able to get the job successfully executed to my cluster machine and job submission in HDInsight cluster fails.
    Please help me on this issue.

  • Can we submit the module pool code in background as a job.

    Hi All,
    Is there any possiblity that, we can capture the module pool program screen element, and run the process in background as a job using the same logic as module pool program.
    In other words, can we have any feasible solution to have push button on the transaction screen of a module pool  program, after clicking which, it will capture all the screen elements of module pool program and using the same logic of module pool program it will submit a job in background and process the data.
    Any hep will be appreciated.
    Thanks in adv.
    Regard,
    Vivek.

    Hi Prasenjit,
    Thanks for your reply.
    My question is, can we use "SUBMIT" statement in module pool program so as it will submit job in backgroung.
    The same logic of module pool we will write in executable statement and submit in background using SUBMIT. will this thing is feasible. I am trying the same. Anyways thanks.

  • How can I delete printed job list Delete jobs grayed

    How can I delete printed job list Delete jobs grayed

    Apple lets you see a list of what is printed out but there is no way to erase the list and mine is two years of all that printed out. I want to erase it but there is no place to get rid of the list or the items on it. Epson said it was an Apple problem. Apple doesn't seem to know the answer. You can only delete jobs when it is not grayed out and it is usually for those you have not printed . I am hoping someone can figure it out.

  • I can't submit (button is gray)

    Everything is all right, (I think) Settings destination, targets, ... But I simply can not submit.

    Hi there,
    My first post. I had the same problem - when I clicked on submit in Compressor the drop down box appeared and in the Cluster box it said "none" and the submit button was greyed out. I've fixed mine and it works perfectly now. Here's how:
    Go to System Preferences and select Sharing. A box appears with your computer's name at the top and a list of things you can share. Select File Sharing and to the right, it will say something like: FTP Access:On with a message underneath which contains your computer's IP address e.g 10.6.4.3. Make a note of this number.
    Open Compressor and go to Compressor > Preferences. The Preferences Dialogue Box appears and at the bottom it says: Enter IP addresses or ranges for manually selected computers. Click on the + button at bottom left and then enter your computer's name and the IP address you noted earlier. Online will probably appear under status.
    Next time you start a job in Compressor and click on submit the drop down box will now say This computer in the Cluster box and the submit button will no longer be greyed out - BINGO
    this is what I did and it worked for me. Good luck.

    Hi ALL,
    I am maintaining my cube from PLSQL with following options
    1. buildtype = "BACKGROUND"
    2. trackstatus = "true"
    3. maxjobqueues = 3
    i get following error when i see the "olapsys.xml_load_log" table
    ***Error Occured: Failed to Build(Refresh) DB_OWNER.MY_ANALYTICAL_WORKSPACE Analytic Workspace. Can not start a job.
    Can anybody explain when and why this error occurs? I have wasted a lot of time searching for this issue, but have found no person facing such issue.
    Hi Keith, it will be great if you can answer this one.
    My database version is 10.2.0.4.0 and AWM version is also 10.2.0.3.0

    Applies to:
    Oracle OLAP - Version: 10.1 to 11.1
    This problem can occur on any platform.
    Symptoms
    - We have an AW maintenance / refresh script or procedure that contains BuildType="BACKGROUND", so that the AW maintenance task will be sent to the Oracle Job queue.
    - When we execute the AW maintenance / refresh script or procedure, we do not get any errors in the foreground, the script/procedure has been executed successfully.
    - However when we look into the build/refresh log (see <Note 351688.1> for details) we see that the maintenance/refresh task failed with:
    13:29:39 Failed to Submit a Job to Build(Refresh) Analytic Workspace <schema>.<AW Name>.
    13:29:39 ***Error Occured in BUILD_DRIVER
    - In the generated SQL trace for the session of the user who launches the AW build/refresh script or procedure, we see that ORA-27486 insufficient privileges error occurred at creation of the job.
    We see from the relevant bit of the SQL trace that err=27486 occured while executing the #20 statement which is 'begin DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_JOB ...', and the statement is parsed and tried to be executed as user having uid=91:

    ERROR #20:err=27486 tim=465202984
    Cause
    User who tries to create a job (executes DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_JOB() procedure) does not have the sufficient privileges.
    Solution
    1. Identify the user under which the job is supposed to be created. This user is not necessarily the same as the user who launched AW build/refresh script or procedure. Get the corresponding username from one of the %_USERS views e.g. from ALL_USERS.
    e.g.
    SELECT user_id,username FROM all_users WHERE user_id=91;
    2. Identify the system privileges currently assigned to the user by connecting as the user whom the privileges need to be determined, and execute:
    SELECT * FROM SESSION_PRIVS ORDER BY PRIVILEGE;
    3. Ensure that the CREATE JOB privilege is listed.
    The CREATE JOB privilege can be granted in various ways to a user:
    - via role OLAP_USER or via role OLAP_DBA (see view ROLE_SYS_PRIVS for what privs are assigned to a role):
    GRANT OLAP_USER TO <username>;
    - explicitly
    GRANT CREATE JOB TO <username>;

    Can any body tell me if that authorization is given to the user, can he submit any other job from front end?
    As you can see if he can, it will conflict security issues of business. So If he is not permitted to execute these kind of statements in any other program, would he be confined to using diff user in this program only?
    Or is there any other way-out to confine the user for getting this authorization for a single T-code or such?

  • Submit background job in APEX -- count on all_jobs return shadow jobs.

    Hi, I am trying to submit a job in APEX. The setups are as below:
    On Submit - After Computation and Validations
    Run Process: Once Per Page Visit
    Process:
    DECLARE
    v_instance_cnt NUMBER;
    job_no NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    SELECT COUNT(0)
    INTO v_instance_cnt
    FROM user_jobs
    WHERE what LIKE 'pagl_refresh.master_refresh%';
    IF NVL(v_instance_cnt,0) = 0 THEN
    DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT(job_no, 'pagl_refresh.master_refresh('''||:G_BSYS_USER_NAME||''');');
    :P3_MESSAGE:= 'Job has submitted. Number is '||TO_CHAR(job_no);
    ELSE
    :P3_MESSAGE :='The refresh is in progress. Please wait ... ('||to_char(v_instance_cnt);
    END IF;
    END;
    Now, if I run the process, the :P3_MESSAGE message returns "'The refresh is in progress. Please wait ... (5)." . This is due to the count is 5 instead of expected 0.
    If I SELECT count(*) FROM dba_jobs WHERE lower(what) LIKE 'pagl_refresh.master_refresh%'; in SQLPLUS, it returns 0. Same result from all_jobs as well.
    My suspect is that it returns job counts include those that has been removed before. Yet, how APEX can see this? Does APEX use some special way to look into Job queue?
    Please help
    Thanks

    From the looks of it, the job is being submitted and run - although I would check the elapsed time to see if it's anywhere close to the 20-30 minutes you anticipate. Assuming not, I would suggest that the problem is in one of the following areas:
    1. The way in which you are passing in the arguments is not conforming to the expected input format or values and it's therefore not executing as expected.
    2. Your process implictly relies on the state of your apex application in some manner, which is not being reproduced within the procedure when the job is submitted.
    In the former case, I would check the procedure's specification against the page items types being passed in - you might have to explicitly convert some of your arguments into the appropriate type
    In the latter case, well... bearing in mind that we don't know what your procedure looks like and it's therefore kind of difficult to diagnose the problem, you'll possibly need to pass your session information into the procedure as additional parameters and re-create your session from within the code.

    SQL> set serverout on
    SQL> /
    Job # = 462Job runs successfully. i.e. the procedure chs_job_test is executed OK. Problem is when we query the USER_JOBS view, we don't see any record for Job 462??
    Why is this??
    Where can we get information of the jobs submitted???
    If an error occured when running job, from where, which DD View we can get this?

    If you submit a job without specifying the NEXT_DATE and INTERVAL, Oracle treats it as a "single execution" job. It is removed from the job queue once it is completed.

  • Win32 API to get cluster List from domain

    Hi ,
      we are using NetServerEnum API to retrive the list of cluster from domain. But it failed with error 2127 on windows 2008 server and the cluster /list command also failed with same error.
    But if we pass domain name to cluster .exe then it works.
    So is there any win32 API other than NetserverEnum which will give the list of clusters in a domain.

    Hi,
    can you also use powershell here?
    Get-Cluster -domain yourdomainFQDN.com
    This will give you all failover cluster in the specified DNS domain.
    Hope that helps.

  • Submit Multiple Job Definitions/Job Chains with same Time window/Submit frame in mass

    Hi,
    We have a requirement to submit multiple Job Definition/Job Chains which are part of common Time Window/Submit frame/Queue....
    Ex. We have over 50+ different jobs/job chains which will runs Monday to Friday for every 2 hours on same Queue "XXX_Queue".  Instead of submitting each job/job chain manually, we would like to know if we could use any script that can achieve our requirement? since we have couple of other jobs which fall under same scenarios...
    We are on M33.104 version. Please let me know if any one has any scripts or alternate way of submitting multiple jobs/job chains in mass.
    Thanks in advance!
    Nidhi.

    Hi Nidhish,
    Here is some code to set some stuff on a job:
    //Get the partition, for global this is not necessary as global is default
    Partition part = jcsSession.getPartitionByName("GLOBAL");
    //Get the job definition
    JobDefinition jobdef=jcsSession.getJobDefinitionByName(part, "System_Info");
    //Get the submit frame
    SubmitFrame sf = jcsSession.getSubmitFrameByName(part, "SF_Every_Year");
    //Get the time window
    TimeWindow tw = jcsSession.getTimeWindowByName(part, "System_Week_WorkingHours");
    //Set the start time
    DateTimeZone dtz = new DateTimeZone(2015, 10, 18, 15, 0, 0, 0);
    //Get the Queue
    Queue SystemQ=jcsSession.getQueueByName(part, "System");
    //Create the Job
    Job infoJob=jobdef.prepare();
    //Attach queue to job
    infoJob.setQueue(SystemQ);
    //Attach submit frame, time window, start time
    infoJob.setSubmitFrame(sf);
    infoJob.setTimeWindow(tw);
    infoJob.setRequestedStartTime(dtz);
    //Print out the jobid of the job

  • Can't Submit or Start Compression Project

    When I try to compress video, I click the first 'submit' button.  The project name/cluster/priority window drops down.  But I can't 'submit' from there.   The 'submit' button is not highlighted.

    I ended up having to download Firefox because some of the features of the Wiki site we use does not work with Safari. I'm guessing that is the same issue with WebCT.
    I found the information that answered my own question.
    Thanks anyway!

  • Trying to submit a job for Compressor

    I'm having trouble submitting my sequence once it's been imported into Compressor.
    After performing the necessary steps then clicking on the submit button the window
    displays the name and priority, but for the cluster it displays "no value". So I click on submit again, then a warning appears stating: "Unable to submit to queue"
    Please restart or verify your Compressor installation is correct.
    I've tried to restart which didn't work either.
    I've also tried going into the QMaster under system preferences, but that seems to be fine. Please help me!

    I have been experiencing the same issue with Compressor, unable to submit a job to be compressed.
    This issue started recently, after the Pro App update.
    I am using Compressor 3.5, there are no current updates available in "Software Update".
    I have not tried reinstalling Final Cut Studio yet, I would like to avoid that if possible. I'm sure there is a software update fix coming soon... In the mean time, I am unable to use compressor.
