Can't Successfully install 10.4.7

ever since this update came out, its been giving me major problems installing.
I just installed the 10.4.7 Combo Update from 10.4.0, it asked me to restart... then during startup, verbose login showed that it fell into a loop of some sort..
It kept saying something like "unable to find root image, sleeping, retrying" ?
so i booted to my other drive, ran disk utility, it said that drive's Keys were out of order and it couldn't rebuild the Catalog B tree.
So then i ran Diskwarror, and it rebuilt the Drive... still no boot, verbose login is now saying something like "abnormal termination, booting into Singer User mode: No directory or file found"
This same problem has happened to me 4 times on 3 different hard drives ever since they released it!!!!!!!!!!!! i've had to reinstall 10.4.0 on each drive EVERY TIME!!!
WHY CAN"T I UPDATE TO 10.4.7!?!?!?! I'm going insane!!!

Repairing Disk Permissions. Not exactly a topic that you would expect to spark much controversy. Yet, surprisingly, it is the focal point of a rather heated debate.
The command itself is innocuous enough. It is included as part of the First Aid component of Disk Utility. Apple's Help for Disk Utility states: "User permissions associated with files, folders, or applications can become damaged and prevent a file or application from opening. Permissions problems can also cause your computer to run slowly. Using Disk Utility, you may be able to fix these permissions problems...Repairing permissions may also be recommended after updating the system or installing new software."
Consistent with this, many users and Web sites (including MacFixIt and at least some postings on MacinTouch) recommend the use of Repair Disk Permissions, not only for specific signs of trouble, but as a part of generic troubleshooting and ongoing maintenance for your Mac.
In contrast, other members of the Mac community (writing in locations such as the Daring Fireball , Unsanity, and the MDJ) argue that running this command just for maintenance, in the absence of any particular symptom, is essentially worthless. Some critics go even further and claim there is no justification for ever selecting to repair permissions. Not only is it useless, they contend, but it may even cause new problems to appear. This viewpoint is often expressed with inflammatory rhetoric such as "covering yourself in Vaseline and rolling around naked in the dirt and repairing permissions are just as likely to fix your Mac OS X problem" (Unsanity).
Regardless of who's right or wrong, I don't believe that insulting users is merited here, especially when these users are simply following advice suggested by Apple itself. As it turns out, I also do not agree with the position of these critics. So, although I may be stepping into a minefield, here's my own take on this subject and my resulting recommendations. Which operating system? Cloud or disk version or download version?
Any error messages? what do they say?
Download or disk: It should be a case of double click the installer, enter your serial and let the installer finish.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. Have been trying to install Adobe Air v3.4. Goes through the dowload and install process, then I get an error message saying that install cannot be completed. I have uninstalled the previous version, but still can't get a successful install.

How can i successfully install linux on my ppc g5

so... i have a pretty old machine. however it's still in great condition, all parts intact. it's running 10.5.8. there are the obvious issues due to lack of support for this os and all compatible software. i also had to leave it in storage for a while. when i brought it home i had to replace my main hdd with the os and all software.
at one time i ran cubase sx3, reason and a number of plugins and softsynths with only 2g ram and little to no problems. i also used final cut pro a lot at the time with little issues other than rendering time.
now i'm stuck with an old machine, old os and no software unless of course i find what i want pirated which i prefer not to do.
that's what prompted my decision to research linux. i have watched a lot of youtube videos and read many threads about this. there are quite a few distros available for ppc. there are many people using them successfully on similar machines to mine with less ram and some with slower processors. i've even seen it done on g4's and g3's. well, i seem to be having some issues trying to install.
for startes i can't boot from a disk unless i remove my main drive with osx on it. none of the key combinations upon startup work. yes i have a wired keyboard (non apple). i've also read and seen that you can boot from a usb stick on this machine but i'm not haivng any luck with that. i'm not sure that i've created the image correctly.
i've made sure to burn the disks at the slowest speed possible as well. however, i can't be entirely sure that the iso wasn't corrupt. i tried 4 different ones at this point.
somebody please help!

Might be time to replace the PRAM Battery, 4 years is close to their lifespan, far less if ever without AC power, & can cause strange startup problems...

FWIW, I've not been able to boot my G5 Quad from USB, though the tbix method works on several G4s I have.

Loopback Adapter might not be required if your PC has a static IP address.
But because so many home PCs have internet connections from Comcast, Time Warner (etc.) they usually have dynamic addresses.
Oracle needs to use the same address all the time. Loopback Adapter is like a "soft" Ethernet card where you can assign your own address. You don't need to download anything, it's already on your machine. You just need to enable it and configure it. I don't recall how I set mine up (did it years ago). Do some searches in these forums, it's not difficult.
But that may not be your problem. You didn't post what errors you were getting, so it may be something else entirely.
And be sure to read the installation guide that "oradba" linked to.

Can't successfully install Photoshop under month-to-month subscription

I bought a month to month subscription for Photoshop CS6 several days ago, but I haven't yet been able to use the previously-installed copy, so I deleted it. Now I try to install again, and I get, "Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Support advizor to detect..." Then Adobe Support Advisor says, "Inspection could not identify any issues. Please contact Adobe Support..." Monthly subscription continues to tick away, but I can't use Photoshop. This is on Mac OS 10.6.8 on an older Mac Pro with 10 GB RAM. Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

If the installer is failing to initialize then you will need to manually review the PDApp.log as the Adobe Support Advisor does not review or upload this file for support. I can not successfully install Elements 11. Help

I have paid and downloaded Elements 11, but I am unable to get it loaded. After waiting, and waiting, and waiting for the download to complete it tells me that I am missing certain items and to try installing again. I have spent some 3 hours trying to download and install. No software should be this difficult to install. Please help if you can.

You have an Amazon wish list button available as an add on and I can't successfully install it.

I've tried adding it on from the Amazon site and also from the Firefox "add-ons" page. It shows the install bar moving across, says do I want to restart Firefox. I click to restart, it restarts and the button isn't there. With the Amazon toolbar, I do all that and there's the toolbar when Firefox restarts (after I go to "view" and click on "Amazon toolbar". I've tried clicking on the "add ons toolbar" under "view" also, and that does nothing to help my problem.
It could be Amazon no longer allows just the button, but if that's the case, then Firefox shouldn't show it as an available add on.

If it gets far enough to reject your serial number, it won't help to download it. It must have installed ok.
What is the message you get (DON'T tell us the serial number!!)?
Does it mention a "qualifying product" by any chance?

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (Although the procedure is for Vista and 7 and you've got XP, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

For the past month I have been trying to get a webserver up and running on my Solaris 10 server. I want to use Joomla to design and impliment the webpage and I know I need Apache2, Mysql and php5. It seems as if it would be fairly simple ut for some reason I can get apache2 running and MySQL, however, when I try to finish it off with PHP5 I cant get it to work. I can install it successfully with a package install. when that didnt work I read to attempt compiling and installing from source. This fails during the compile. I have tried a few suggestion and procedures all of which have failed. Does anyone know of a work around or a good working procedure for successfully installing this software on a Solaris platform?? Hey...thanks for taking the time to send the link but my problem is not based on the different scenarios from the link. Here are my specifics. All apps up to date, mac meets all requirements. I installed Logic 8 from box set. Went through all the CDs as the installer requested them. When the install was over no icons on my tray at bottom of desktop, no icons in the applications folder. I did see that my hard drive is about 50gb smaller than when I started. I can't uninstall abnything because there are no icons to remove from the application folder. I can't even locate any folders other than the folders created for all the jampack and audio file.
When I put the install cd back in the installer sees that logic has been installed and stays grayed out and I can't select it to reinstall it. I have checked every folder I can think of looking for the folder containing all the software for Logic but it is nowhere to be found.
Its as if logic is in limbo on my machine. It isn't visible to me but is taking up space and can't be removed cause it can't be seen.

Can't Sync after IOS5 Upgrade - Device driver software was not successfully installed

I upgraded to OS5 and now can't sync. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and rebooting and still get an error saying Apple Mobile Device USB Driver was not successfully installed. This is on Windows7 64bit Anyone else had this problem?

I am still having issues completing a sync with my iPhone4 regardless of which USB port I use. I started the upgrade to iOS5 and the update to the phone completed. However, I am unable to get the phone to sync to load all of my apps to the phone. I have tried unstalling and reinstalling iTunes, including deleting any files which may have been missed by the uninstall. I have repeated this process over 5 times using IE, Chrome and Firefox just to make sure it was not a driver issue. Every time, when I connect the iPhone, I get the message it is installing the device driver for iPhone, following by the error mssage "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver Failed" Does anyone out there have any ideas?
