Can't suspend activity, sleep ... MBP 10.4.7
Hi all, first of all sorry for my bad english...
Few days ago my battery crash: after 5 min my computer shutdown. They exchange my bat and now i cant make my computer sleep...
When i close my computer or when i click on "suspend activity", the screen goes black and few seconds after my ipod try to sync and my computer comes back power on.
The little light on the front if full bright instead of blinking.
This problem has start when ive tried to sleep the computer without battery.
Ive notice when i try to sleep my computer some lines in the "CONSOLE":
Jul 30 11:47:45 ordinateur-de-bibyfok mDNSResponder: Repeated transitions for interface en0 (192.168.1.70); delaying packets by 5 seconds
Jul 30 11:47:45 ordinateur-de-bibyfok mDNSResponder: Repeated transitions for interface en2 (10.37.129.2); delaying packets by 5 seconds
and i got something special in the network: (ive not setup this, i dont know where does it come from oO)
http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/8675/image1sz6.jpg
its possible something completly different but its a way to search...
ive tried to sleep the computer with a new fresh account, same problem.
Everything is ok: permitions, Hardware test etc.
Could someone help me ?
Thanks.
Allright, you were right the host guest adaptater
belongs to parralels, but ive completly uninstall
parallels using appzapper, reboot but still cant
sleep my computer... :/
Something must be wrong -- when I uninstalled Parallels Desktop, that network interface disappeared in the Network control panel. You may want to double check that's it's been completely removed.
As for the sleep problem, I didn't have exactly the same problem you're having, but on my MacBook Pro, it was freezing upon trying to wake up. The way I fixed it was to reset the power manager. Article 303319 provides instructions on how to do this.

HELP... Since last week, I can not awake from sleep. After reading a review I downloaded Deep Sleep, but after the first deep sleep, my MBP (late 2011 with Mountain Lion), developed a problem restarting from sleep. I straight away uninstalled Deep Sleep, but the problem has increased.
Now when I try to awake from sleep, a grey screen with the apple logo appears with a progress bar underneath it, which slowly moves to the forelast indicator, then it stops and a audio signal starts. Three bleeps and pause.
Then when I press the on/off botton and restart the system, the underneath error reports appears with the heading RAPPORTD unexpectedly failed.
Can any one help?

How can I suspend an App instalation
How can I suspend an App's instalation in my Ipad 2 that doesn't respond, I was installing an App, in the Ipad appeared a grey Icon named Waiting (esperando) and the App screen said Installing, but the process never ends.
I have rebooted the Ipad several times but the instalation continues freezed
What can I do???
Thanks
PedroApps stuck in waiting or won't download
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad. -
Why my iphone's iMessage and Facetime can't be activated?
hi, I just bought an iphone4 from the Mississauga apple store two days ago, the iMessage and Facetime can't be activated, so these things are what I tried: (my SIM card matches with my iphone, have a valid carrier, and I paid my bill and have a valid phone number)
1. I connected my iphone to the wifi, and make sure it works,
2. created an account on apple store, and make sure it has been logged on,
3. logged that e-mail account that I used to creat apple account on to my iphone ---> Mail,
4. go to Settings ---> iMessage, and turned it on, and did whatever it told me to do, then it just saying:"Waiting for activation..." for 2 or 3 hours, and told me that activation failed, and the same thing goes with the Facetime.
I tried with each of them 3 times, none of them are working, so I give up, and asked my friend use to working at the ginues bar in an apple store to help me, so:
He download iTunes onto my PC, connected my iphone to my PC, and logged my apple account onto iTunes, then did the PC and iphone thing which I don't really understand, and redo what I did above, and my iMessage and Facetime still can't work, and use he's iphone to call mine with facetime, use mine to call his with facetime, none of the calls worked.
At the end, we even dialed #*5005*7672# to check the SMS service centre number.
***BTW, I CANNOT even send text messages to my friends, I can only call them.
Is there anything else I can try to make the iMessage and facetime working? Or should I just go to the store and ask for an exchange or refund?
T_T, I just can't believe I can't even send out text messages with the iphone which even the unsmart phones can do.
Help me, plzzzzzz
KateHey Bogdannae,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
You might need to user recovery mode since it is staying at the Apple logo.

Hi gurus,
what is the use Sort key,
where we can see that activity. in GL Accounts, Vendor, customer master sort key where we can see effects. what is the use, how it will sort, where i can see.
Thanks for your reply.
AnilDear Anil,
Sort key is the one that fills the "Assignment field" of a line item automatically.
For example, for the GR / IR accounts, we normally give the "Purchase Order" as the sort key. This will make the line items in the GR/IR account to be filled with the Purchase order and the Item number.
The automatic clearing (F.13) works with the assignment field. In case the net of two line items (Dr - Cr) is equal to zero and the assignment field of these two lines are the same, then the system will automatically clear these two lines. Hence "Sort key " fills the assignment field and is very useful in automatic clearing

How can we achive active/active cluster setup with Oracle
Hi Experts,
How can we achieve active/active database setup with oracle WITHOUT USING RAC.. As far as I know it's impossible (unless I'm wrong)..
We are using Oracle 11.2.0.1 64bit on Windows 2008 server. We deployed Oracle FailSafe but that's more of an active/passive solution based on a windows cluster.
The other solution we were thinking about is to use DataGuard and replication.. two servers.. the oracle instance running on one server generating logs, and the other server receive the logs and apply them to the physical standby db.. Still, this is not a real active/active setup.
So, is it possible to run 2 servers in an active/active cluster and have the oracle database in an active/active setup or have the instance running on multiple nodes (at the same time)?
ThanksLet me give you a brief explanation of what the situation is and you can be the judge..
My client have four databases with the smallest one being 20GB and the biggest around the 35gb (SGA 750mb to 1.4gb (Tiny by DB standards) and probably on a normal day, you can run all four of them on a decent desktop).. The DBs are used to keep track of people information. Through out the year, the databases are almost sitting idle, and by idle I mean, the odd update here and there, the odd report..etc. No hard real processing of any sort. Two days of the year (end of year) we have all the operators consolidating records and what's not and they will be pounding away entering data and updating the tables - with hourly reports that goes to 3rd parties. The client expects a 99.99 up time and availability during those 2 days.
Now, tell me, How can I justify using RAC and spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in licensing and what ever extra costs introduced by the complexity of the environment for the above scenario knowing that I don't have any real use for RAC for 363 days of the year; and we MIGHT need it for 2 days of the year? This is the dilemma we're facing.
Thanks

How many times can I suspend (without billing) my service?
I know I can suspend it twice for at most 90 days each time. I'm wondering though whether it is possible to suspend it more than twice in a year as long as it's not for more than 180 days overall.
Since I have a smartphone and I'm on the more everything family plan, suspending without billing means that the bill will be 40 dollars less/month, right?
Thanks!hybridhoneylp we'll make sure that everything is crystal clear! You're right on track, the maximum amount the line can be suspended without billing is 180 days within a 12 month rolling period. So you can suspend the line multiple time as long as the time frame does not extend beyond the 180 days. Suspending without billing will stop the monthly charges and the time the line is suspended will be added to the end of the contract. For all the details, please visit http://vz.to/1kuSN3C

Can no longer connect my MBP to a local file server
I can no longer connect to a particular computer on my local network from my MBP(Mid 2010 running 10.6.6). I am trying to connect to a Mac G4 tower running 10.4.11. This has worked in the past but now does not.
An older MBP(Mid 2007 running 10.6.6) has no problem connecting to the G4. My Mid 2010 MBP can connect to the older MBP. The Mid 2010 MBP can also connect via smb to a PC on my local network. All of my systems can connect as clients to the Mid 2010 MBP.
The G4 does show up in the Mid 2010 Finder window sidebar under Shared. I can ping the G4 from the Mid 2010. I can even ssh into the G4 using the CLI from the Mid 2010. When I try to connect to the G4, either via the Shared Icon in the sidebar or via Cmd-K, I instantly get a "Connection failed" message. I have, via afp, tried both the server name and the IP, both of which work fine on the older MBP. No effect. I ran full Applejack on my Mid 2010. No effect. I reapplied the 10.6.6 Combo Updater. No effect. I deleted all references to the G4 in my keychain, but the "Connection failed" message comes before any attempt at authentication. Grasping that straw had no effect. I do have Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner but hesitate to nuke all my caches before trying something else. Ideas anyone? Thanks.I forgot to add: I also tried a different user account on the Mid 2010 MBP to connect to the G4. No effect.

I updated my ipod and now it says my ipod can't be activated because activation server cannot be reached. How do I get it back on track?
Hello,
Try reseting your device.
Hold the power button and the home button down until the device shuts off, then power it back on and see if the problem is resolved.
I just refreshed your post, so if this does not help you, it is now at the top of the list for a short while, other people should be able to try and help you.

Can Appletalk be active on two network ports for printing?
Here's the core of my question: Can I keep Appletalk active on my Airport network port (in order to print to a wireless print server on an HP Laserjet 2100M) and simultaneously keep it active on my Ethernet port (in order to print to a Brother HL 2700CN networked through my router)?
Nothing I have read gives me to believe I can have Appletalk active on more than one network port. If that is the case, my second question would be:
I there some other way to print to either printer on the network without having to turn off Appletalk manually on the ports not being used?
Here's the configuration I'm facing
G4 Quicksilver 10.3.9
HP Laserjet 2100M with wireless Belkin DP-311P print server
Brother HL-2700CN wired to Belkin Wireless-G router
I would appreciate any help on this, even if it's the simple response, "No, you can't print to both without manually de/activating Appletalk."for file sharing between computers running 10.4.x and 10.3.x.
actually, not for that either. 10.4 has dropped support for AppleTalk-only File Sharing to make way for Intel Macs and their protocols. 10.4 does still support AppleTalk printing.
AppleTalk would be required to print to older Apple LaserWriters that do not support LPD/LPR printing. In all but two cases, the printers have no Ethernet port, so a Bridge device or software would be required:
Personal LaserWriter NTR
Personal LaserWriter 320
LaserWriter Select 310
LaserWriter Select 360
LaserWriter 4/600 PS
LaserWriter IIf
LaserWriter IIg (Ethernet)
LaserWriter Pro 600
LaserWriter Pro 630 (Ethernet)
Some third-party wireless Access points do not pass AppleTalk packets at all, and cannot be used to print to that class of older LaserWriters.
In 10.3.9 and previous, AppleTalk may still be used for File Sharing with older Macs.

+Sorry for my English, is not my native language.+
Hi,
I expose my problem:
I can't go from 65 Mbps with the wireless connection. I can't move from that connection speed.
Laptop configuration:
* Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits (with all updates installed).
* All drivers updated properly.
* With the latest version of BIOS.
Router:
* Tp-link TL-WR1043ND, installed 3 meters above the laptop (without obstacles).
Configuration of router:
* WPA2-PSK AES.
* 802.11n
* Maximum output power.
* Channel: 11 (not automatic, this channel is relatively free).
* Channel width: 40 Mhz.
* Maximum tx rate: 300 Mbps.
Other information:
* The wireless card drivers are correctly then updated (ver. 5.60.48.35).
* The router has updated firmware.
* I have tried all settings of the wireless card.
* Bluetooth off (without interferences).
* {color:#ff0000}There are other computers on the network that connects 150 and 300 Mbps (with the same network configuration).{color}
Thanks in advance,
Greetings.

If you had the same problem with factory settings you should test another router. Maybe its a malfunction of router or something else (not compatible to your WLAN card).
Furthermore ask the manufacture of your router if they know something about this.
In worst case its a hardware malfunction of your notebook. You should contact nearest service centre. I believe they can fix it under warranty, because A660 is pretty new notebook.
Good luck! :) -
Personal File Sharing can't be activated
Hi all,
Just got a Macbook and try to connect with a G4 MDD together with a wireless router. I found that the personal file sharing setting in preference in G4 can't be activated. It stays "starting up" status forever. However Bonjour is fine: my Macbook can share the iTune library, printer sharing is fine, windows sharing is fine too. And the G4 can share Macbook's folders. Have tried reset PRAM, reset PMU, runs Disk Utilities but still no use. Any idea? Before you go the "archive and (re)install" route, try just reapplying the OS 10.4.11 combo update for PPC and see if that fixes you up. Just as the knowledge base article recommends, run Disk Utility first to verify disk (to make sure it is not in need of repair before you start), then run repair permissions. Then, after done with either the "archive and install" or the "combo update", rerun repair permissions again.
