Can't swipe to next article on scrollable frame?

Hi,
I'm not sure what's happening here. I've got a page with a scrolling frame which covers the whole page, frame is set to scrolling, scroll direction is vertical only. I've just updated some of the scrollabe content and now when I view on iPad I can't swipe to the next article, the swipe to next article worked fine yesterday, all content and links work OK I just can't get off the page now... any suggestions?

So Okay,
Excuse the lame design (only 10 minutes of my lunch break left)
So I quickly mocked up a 768x1024 doc (Horizontal)
Made a Scrollable frame 732x952px to sit on the page bleed at the bottom and within left and right margins
Created 4000px Deep worth of fake content (Grouped and pasted into the scrolling frame)
Set to vertical scroll only
Popped a stickly overlay on top and a background image underneath
All in seperate layers.
Imported as a PNG article
and here are the results.
All images are screen grabs and the last demonstrates that even with a scrolling frame this long - if you import as png you can still horizontally swipe off it
All's good!
Tim

  • In the vertical page with scrollable content, i can´t swipe to next article. why?

in the vertical version of the page with one scrollable content frame, i can´t swipe to next article. the scrollable content frame has in both versions the exact size of the page. in the horizontal version this works perfectly. Used folio builder v22, pdf and smothscrolling off.

Thanks for the answer. But i found out, that it was my fault. A status of an object was outside the scrolling content frame. But thank you for the possibilty to ask questions.

  • Scrollable Content and Swipe to next article Problem.

I have multiple scroll trays on my page that when pulled out take up all the space on the screen.  Since interactive content always sits on top of static content how does one workaround not being able to swipe to next article.
At the moment I create dummy buttons that sit on top of the interactive content that have navto properties but my user would not usually figure out to tap instead of swipe to next article.
Thanks for listening to my first post.

This really needs to be fixed especially for vertically scrolling frames when swiping horizontally and vice versa.
With the new choices in the scrollable frame overlay it should be obvious that if you swipe in the other direction you want to go to new page.

  • Swipe to next article in horizontal scroll. frame

    Hi,
If the reader reaches the end of an horizontal scrollable frame, the swipe to the next article does not work (neither does two finger swipe work). Instead, swiping to the next page on the end of an vertical scroll. frame works fine (v29 viewer).
    One more thing to fix.
    Kind regards,
    Yves

    Yves,
Are you testing in Adobe Content Viewer or a custom viewer? We specifically did work to make swiping to the next article work inside a horizontal scrollable frame.

  • I can't swipe to next page after placing my edge animation in dps

I've created an animation in Edge and exported it as a .oam file. I've placed it into dps (full page size) and although it plays fine I'm no unable to swipe between pages.
Initially I thought instead of using the animation at the full page size I could use it smaller so I would be able to swipe the area outside of the animated object. My problem with this is that the background of the page is a coloured gradient and as I've not managed to export my animation with a transparent background I need to set the background up in Edge also. This leaves me with the problem of how to navigate to the next page?
Im new to Edge (as you can probably tell) so any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hey Ross,
There's currently a bug when using DPS where the poster image won't clear from the composition and remains in the background when it plays in DPS. Does your animation automatically play? If so I have a workaround for you.
If you set your poster image to transparent, and your stage to transparent, the animation will play on a transparent background. Create a 1x1 transparent png and import it into your EA composition. In the publish settings, set this PNG file to be your poster image.
Also be sure to set your stage colour to 0% alpha.
Publish and you should be good to go.
As for not being able to swipe, Animate compositions import as "Web Overlays" which means overlay in the most literal sense; they are placed on top of your publication so any interactivity you have may interfere with the gestures of your publication as created in ID. You can opt to turn interactivity off in the web overlay panel in ID, though this might defeat the purpose of your placed composition. It sounds like in your case if you're able to get the transparent stage to work this might remedy some of the problems you were having.

  • Scrollable frame prevents swipe to next page

    Hello
Does anybody else find when they create a PDF format for the iPad that scrollable frames don't work as well as in auto format.
I have placed a large scrollable frame which takes up 3/4 of my page. When I swipe to the next page the scrollable frame wont let me swipe?
    Cheers

bugs and behaviour like this is a suspicious sign of a wrong architecture,
too many cooks/programmers ruining the menu (a German spoke word), or
    incomplete testing.
DPS is a massive complex system.but for these, data models and information
    architecture are critical to success.
I see movement at adobe here. there are more and more people from adobe
responding to problems, actually engineering on these forums and more
concise product management. one can feel that.
but sometimes, these "funny" things happen... they don't matter to the big
publishers still on sprint 15 or enterprise level publishers with their own
track if DPS (visible in the cryptic version number for the WIRED reader
    and others).
but they matter to the designers, makers, thinkers and people on the
bleeding edge of DPS actually trying to produce stuff and stumble upon
    these things.

  • Problem with V19 Scrollable Frame

I have a magazine that worked find on V18 of producer tools, since I upgraded to V19 I am having ptoblems.
I have a standard page size 2048x1536 (iPad 3), and I have the whole page set as a scrollable frame with a background placed behind it. Then all my content for the page is pasted into the scrollable frame which runs much lower than the 2048 page length. You can then scroll the page within the scrollable frame rather than having a long page to scroll down. This also creates a nice layering effect where the content moves on top of a static background.
This worked fine for me on V18 producer tools, but now when I load my magazine onto my iPad, I'm scrolling through articles and when I hit the page with the scrollable frame you can no longer scroll left or right and you're stuck on the page...
Any idea how I can fix this as I have a client that has seen and likes the layering effect? Last thing I want to do is have to remove it and just make a long page.

    Which totally sucks, BTW.
If you use JPG or PNG then it works but you lose the razor sharp text and pinch and zoom that PDF provides.
I really don't get this one, either. Especially since the scrollable frames option gives you the ability to make it vertical only. That should eliminate any "confusion" as to which way to you want to scroll and which way you want to swipe.

  • Trouble nesting video in scrollable frame

Hi I'm having trouble getting a video into a scrollable frame. I am using a scrollable frame to make a pull out tab on my page. When I cut and paste the video and a tab into the container frame the only folio overlay option i am given is video, it will not let me make the frame scrollable. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You can get around this by creating a scrollable frame with dummy content.
Delete all the content after setting the scrollable frame options and then
    pasting the video inŠ.BUTŠ
You may want to rethink this by using an MSO instead. AFAIC, using a
scrollable frame for this is not a great idea and can, depending upon the
size of the scrollable area, interfere with the navigation to the next
    article or page.

  • How can you prevent that you can swipe to the next article?

    Hi,
    I'm creating a folio for a fair.
The purpose is that the clients can choose from a menu which "presentation/article" they would like to view. Then when the article is at his end it should go back to the menu at the beginning.
But now when you are at the end of an article and you swipe to the left you automatically go to the next article.
So my question is: Is there a way to put a "stop" at the end of an article so that the people can't swipe further and so they have no other option than to go back or to click on the home button??
    Thanks a lot!!

My solution for a simililar scenario was to create a full page, 2-state dumb MSO set to play the slide-show once. Then the home button (or any navigation buttons) was available to tap, while the page itself was resistant to any swipes.

  • Horizontal Swipe to 1st Page of Next Article

    Hi.
I have two articles in a folio. Both individual articles swipe vertically within the article. When I horizontally swipe from Article One to Article Two, how do set it so that you can only swipe to the 1st page of that article Two (even if I had previously been viewing the 3rd page of Article Two)...   and visa versa?

You can't. At least not without tweaking the whole Content Viewer's framework, which is only available for Enterprise customers. And even then, I think it would be highly advised not to mess with this carefully growing convention in its user interface. Of course, you can turn each article/page completely into HTML content and script your and your reader's brain out. But as a best practice, you can't and shouldn't. The user needs to retain their sense of 'position' in a publication and each article.

  • Swipe to chosen article/Hidden article

Would be great if it was possible have arcticles or pages that could only be accessible by hiperlinks i think is the main thing i couldn't do to transport my design to DPS.
The other thing would be nice in some apps is be able to choose the state where swipe goes to, example:
I'm in an article with 3 pages, in the 3rd page of this article I swipe and goes to seconde page of an second article, or first page (in this case always first page, not only when i do it for first time). It's really strange when i open the app, go to an article swipe to next one, go to page in that article, go back change page in previous artcle and when i go forward again i'm in the page i left, not first page.

    Yves,
Are you testing in Adobe Content Viewer or a custom viewer? We specifically did work to make swiping to the next article work inside a horizontal scrollable frame.

  • Pan & Zoom, can't go to next stack

    Hello,
we've a big problem. In our folio we built Pan & Zoom-Overlays over the whole size. Now we can't go to the next stack. We can't touch and move the folio wheather on iPad2 nor on iPad3. In our last published folios there was no problem.
    What can we do?
    Thanks for your ideas.
    Neele

@Neele – by the "next stack", do you mean the next article, the next page on that article?
For v20 of the tools what is working (tested right now):
Create navigation elements (buttons) that lead to the next/prvious page and/or article.
I used the "navto://articlename#pagenumber-1" by URL approach.
Place those buttons inside scrollable frames.
Scrollable frames will stay in front of the frame with the image you could pan & zoom.
Set the scroll direction to "None"
Set the scroll indicators to "None"
See the following steps by screen grabs (German UI):
    1. Background frame with image set to Pan & Zoom, above it a scrollable frame with a button inside
    2. Second step to define the scrollable frame:
    3. Define your button with the appropriate target. In my case a "navto://articlename#pagenumber-1"
    4. Preview in the Adobe Content Viewer of the page pressing (tabbing) the button
(Don't care about the other elements around the image; just other elements I played around with)
    5. Preview in Adobe Content Viewer: using the pan effect of the frame that holds the image (scrollable frame with the button stays on top, buton is still working)

  • Scrollable frame in PDF-based folio prevents page swipe

Can someone confirm for me that scrollable frames in a PDF-based folio prevent one from being able to use that area to swipe to the next page?
    Thanks,

    I confirm too.
We publish a weekly magazine for iPad2 and iPad3.
iPad2 folio is a jpg one, and we use pdf format for iPad3.
Scrollable full page contents work fine on iPad2 but prevent swiping on iPad3.
Our solution: creating "cold zones" on the edges of the pages using buttons (setting them "navto://nowhere"). I think it's the simpliest way to make it work.

  • When I power up my ipad air the apple logo comes up like it should then the lock screen only comes up for a second or less so I can't swipe it fast enough.

When I power up my iPad Air the Apple Logo comes up like it should then the lock screen only comes up for a second or less so I can't swipe it fast enough to get to the home page. The lock screen just disappears. I have to hit the sleep/wake or home button to bring the lock screen back up so I can swipe it. Have others found this situation with the iPad Air. I have an iPad 2 and it does not happen at all. The Apple store checked it out. One rep said to me this is unusual and had a tech check it out and they said this is normal. If the iPad is suppose to be user friendly, why this extra step to get to the lock screen? Are other owners of the iPad Air having the same problem? If so, what have you done to correct it?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
