CAN'T SWITCH TO THUMBNAIL VIEW IN ORGANIZE AN ALBUM

Just loaded Tiger on my Titanium and it did not come with
iLife or iPhoto 5, so I'm stuck with iPhoto 2 for a while...
One thing I noticed after moving from Panther to Tiger is when
I chose Organize for an Album, the pics are no longer thumbnails and each pic is big making moving them around and
rearranging the order rather difficult as I have to use the scroll bar to get to the one I want to move and then drag it
up or down... The thumbnail view was so handy, How can I toggle back to the thumbnailview in Organize... I've tried
everything I can think of with no luck.... HELP???

THANK YEW!!! God bless this forum and all you helpful MAC freaks!!!

  • Milky / Cloudy ghosted view & can't switch to story view

I do layout work on a magazine and export stories for the editor using a Dropbox Incopy workflow. I use Indesign CS6 and the editor uses Incopy CS6.
The editor was complaining that when she opened the files, everything looks "milky" or "cloudy" and it takes forever to open and crashes a lot upon opening. I have a Creative Cloud subscription but it doesn't include InCopy, so I downloaded a demo and tried opening our Indesign file and here's what I've noticed:
When my application default is set to Story view, I have the same problem my editor describes. There is only one tab, and it says Story view, even though what I'm seeing is Layout view. Everything has is covered in transparent white but if you change to preview mode, it goes away and you can see the document correctly.
If I change my app preference to Layout view (with no docs open) and then open the Indesign file, it opens correctly in Layout view with the 3 tabs for the 3 views. And it looks right in Standard mode. However, if I try to select Galley view, it takes a really long time to switch (spinning beach ball) but it does work eventually. If I select a small story and check it out, then try to switch to Story view, it just hangs and I have to force quit.
This is a 64-page journal that is mostly text. All of the Incopy stories are exported to the Links folder in the dropbox, and the Links folder is on the same level as the Indesign file. We are opening the Indesign file via Incopy; we don't use assignments.
Is this a known software problem, or perhaps a plugin incompatibility? My editor obviously has the same problem and is using an older mac than I am.
    I'm using InCopy CS6 version 8.0.1.
My Mac is about 3 weeks old - it's a quad-core MacBook Pro 15 inch Retina display with 16 GB of RAM.

Anne Marie Concepcion was kind enough to look at my files, and correctly identified the problem. The problem was that we had a LOT of tracked changes in all of the stories, and it was a 64-page document with lots of stories in it. So, there were thousands of tracked changes that were just too much for Incopy to parse.
We were using tracked changes but not checking and accepting them. I didn't realize this was necessary; I thought it was just as a backup in case we wondered who changed something and when.
As Anne Marie suggested, I opened the Indesign file, checked out all the stories, and accepted all the tracked changes. Going forward, I need to make sure I accept the tracked changes from time to time, to clear out the backlog.
I reopened the file from InCopy and it worked fine; I could access all 3 views and it displayed properly. So, if anyone else has the same problem I had, try accepting your tracked changes.

  • When I open a new tab, I used to see 9 thumbnails of my most visted sites, but now I do not (just a generic "new browser tab" page). How can I restore the thumbnail view?

I have an HP laptop, windows 7 64-bit OS. I had to open Explorer this AM to download a driver update (for audio on my computer, which instead eliminated the sound on my computer - still trying to fix that). I downloaded an update to DVDSoftVideo yesterday, which seems to sometimes change the taskbar area, even tho I always opt to not download optional toolbars (ASK toolbar for one - even tho I unchecked it, it still shows up now on the toolbar).
I don't know what is related to what.
Further, I clcked on the Firefox icon at the top left, and chose the menu view, now cannot find how to go back to the new view of just the icon.

You can look at one of these extensions:

  • Avi files missing from view in Organizer

I recently installed Premiere Elements 8 and Photoshop Elements 8.  I captured 1 hour of video from my DV camcorder  The capture resulted in 43 avi files being transferred to my Vista PC.  The files all show up fine in the Premiere Elements editor project view and timeline.  But only 23 of the videos show up in Elements Organizer.  I have tried reimporting all the files to Organizer, but Organizer says they already exist.  I have selected to show all files, but no luck.
I looked at another folder where I had captured 18 avi files with the trial version of Pre8, and Organizer only shows me 10 of the files.
I've tried everything I can think of to make sure I'm not filtering these files from view.
    What am I missing?

The files are all in the same folder on the second of two internal 500 GB hard drives.  They are all together in the same folder, labeled as "My Project 01.avi" up to "My Project 43.avi"
I figured out a way to see the missing files in Organizer by selecting the "thumbnail" view instead of the "batch" or "folder" view.  What I discovered is that all the files that have been "missing" appear as stacks of files, but I can't see an option to unstack them like you can do with photos in Photoshop elements.
For example, I have a file that I couldn't see in Organizer called "My Project 11.avi".  When I look at this file in the Premier Elements 8, under the project view, it shows as a movie with duration of 2:59:22.  But when I look at it in thumbnail view in Organizer, it shows a stack of files.  When you expand the stack, you see three files, each labeled with the same filename, "My Project 11.avi"   The files are 1:21, 0:08, and 1:31 in length, i.e the same total time.  Collectively, they make up the same clip as I see in PE8.  When you pick batch or folder view, the clip disappears for the Organizer view.  The same exact scenario holds for 20 of the other clips in my folder.
I'm really confused by this....I don't want to have to hunt down clips so I can tag them.  And I don't understand why the clip is split up and stacked.  When I captured the video, I opted to split scenes by timecode, but these are continuous clips shot without interruption.  I did not select auto-analyzer.
So why would these clips appear as stacks?  It doesn't look to me like the user can even select to stack videos.
And either way, why would Organizer only show them when thumbnail view is selected?
    thanks

  • Finder: Changing from thumbnail view to column view takes me back to the root folder.

    Hi,
I was hoping someone could help me with this as it's getting a bit tedious having to re-navigate back to the folder I was in. This problem is only occuring when I am working from an external NAS Drive.
I need to switch between thumbnail view and column view regularly, but whenever I change from thumnails to column - finder jumps back to the root folder, meaning I have to work my way back to where I was.
I can't figure out how to stop this happening! It doesn't happen when changing from column to thumbnails, only the other way round..
    Thanks for any suggestions!
    Sarah.

    Hi Barney,
Thanks for your reply Unfortunately though I already use AFP on the NAS drive and still have the problem, so it seems this is an issue with both AFP and CIFS..

  • DW 11.0 Build 4993 - why can't I use Design view with an HTML file?

Subject line basically says it all: I started a new HTML file, but I can't switch to design view.  Anyone have any idea why?  Thanks!

Which operating system? Mac or PC?
Can you post a set of reproducible steps so we can follow what you're doing?

  • Thumbnail view to Develop view... can I?

    Hey all,
I must admit I am mystified by Lightroom's UI. But I am learning, slowly.
One thing I have not yet figured out is how to get efficiently from the thumbnail view to the edit ("Develop") views. So I am constantly switching. All day long I go:
    1 - GO TO LIBRARY
    2 - SELECT THUMBNAILS
    3 - FIND THE IMAGE
    4 - GO TO DEVELOP
5 - Do my thing (mainly crop and straighten)
    6 - GO TO 1
This seems a lot of extra clicks. I would just like spend my time in one environment where I can do what I need, not constantly having to switch (twice for each image) from Library to Develop. Is there any way to do this? Is there a better workflow that I am missing?
I need the thumbnail view becasue I find the long ribbon useless. I come back with 400 pictures froma shoot and scrolling left and right in that ribbon is worse than useless: I get lost and it takes me more time that not doing it at all.
I am sure I am missing better ways to work. Any input appreciated.
    Michael

Cmd/Ctrl+F11 opens the second display window, which can be configured to show a Grid view. Clicking on a thumbnail in the second window opens that photo into Develop module.

  • In photoshop elements 12 i try to select multiple people to view in organize but can only select one

in photoshop elements 12 i try to select multiple people to view in organize but can only select one person at a time.  if I try to select two or more people to see their pictures, I get nothing.  I try to use CTL-click, but that does not work

    Hi,
Try switching to Media view and then go to Find -> By Details.
Set the field to People and select the persons name.
You add further people by clicking on the + sign
The two options above the search criteria allow you to select all photos containing at least one or only ones with all of your selections.
The search can be saved in case you want to repeat it a later time.
    Hope that helps

  • Can not switch from organizer mode to editor mode in adobe premiere elements 12.

After successfully installing and registering my new adobe premiere elements 12 and had created the organizer, I still can't switch from organizer mode to editor mode to edit a file (photo).

    Alfredo Agorilla
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? Have you updated 12 to 12.1 Update via a project's Help Menu/Update? If not, please do so.
    You wrote
I still can't switch from organizer mode to editor mode to edit a file (photo).
Just how are you trying to do that...
    a. Are you in the Elements Organizer 12 workspace, right clicking the photo's thumbnail, and selecting Edit with Premiere Elements Editor
    or
    b. Something else.
Is there an error message that results when you try to switch "from organizer mode to editor mode" and cannot?
When you mention "....to edit a file (photo)", I wonder if you are not trying to get to Photoshop Elements 12 Editor, not Premiere Elements 12 Editor, from the Elements Organizer 12.
Please supply a step by step of what you are doing so that we can be sure that we are in sync on the details that we are using to work through your issue.
    Thank you.

  • Organizer Thumbnail view

Each time I switch between the Single Photo View to the Thumbnail view I have to reposition the slider to get the thumbnails to show the file name, etc.  Is there an option or preference setting that will keep the slider where I put it so when Organizer opens, it opens with the thumbnails the size I want?
Its really annoying to have to keep resetting the silder.
Second question - is there an option to show the thumbnails at the bottom of the screen (Single Photo View) in a "filmstrip" like configuration similar to what Lightroom does so I don't have to keep switching from Single View to Thumbnail view?
I'm really new to Elements and maybe I've just missed an option setting - or it seems like Lightroom's workspace is better?
    Thanks

    Hi,
You could try this as a sort of filmstrip:-
    1. Select the images you want to review
    2. Use F11 to switch to full screen mode (Cmd & F11 for MAC)
    3. Use Ctrl & F to toggle the image thumbnails appearing on the right hand side of the screen in a strip
    4. Use Esc key when finished
    Hope that helps

  • How can i see the previews of a folder's images from the Thumbnail View?

I mean, in windows XP if you set the Thumbnail View, inside the icon of the folder you can see the preview of the images inside ( like this http://mowd.idv.tw/LonghornPDC/folder_preview.JPG )...
Is there a way to do it on Mac OS X? Maybe some plug-in, some file manager: anything...i often have to check out thousands of photos to find the reference for an illustration, and it's pretty frustrating having to open up every folder...
    Thanks in advance
    iMac 24"   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

but none of these two options allows me to see a folder's images BEFORE opening it...
You want to go back and try that again... just right click on the folder - you don't have to open it - and choose 'Show In PicturePopPro2'.
Check out the icons on the menu bar - you can get a contact sheet view, move from shot to shot using the arrow keys... it'll do what you want.

  • Can't see several thumbnails in photoshop elements organizer grid

Can't see several thumbnails in photoshop elements organizer grid but when I open a non-viewable thumnail in the editor I can see it in the grid.
After opening the image in the editor it appears in the Organizer grid.

Seems like the thumbnail cache is corrupted in some way. Start by trying to Repair and Optimize the catalog (File > Manage Catalogs).

  • How to switch music from thumbnail view to list view

In the music app in the main library, how do you switch the music from thumbnail view with the album art and name arranged in a grid, into a traditional list view, if at all possible?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

... I did inadvertently find a way to view by list, although a bit unconventional. When I went into Playlists, I found I could tap on "All Songs." This had all my music in listed, alphabetical order. Hey, it works so I'm okay with this "fix." Poring thru album artwork makes me crazy! TNX Rat ! :--D

  • Sort order switches when changing from List to Thumbnail View

I can't seem to get the Thumbnail view to "lock" to the same sort order as the list view.  I arrange by file name (or ingest date, or reverse media duration, or any of the other sortable metadata fields) in list view, but then when I click to the thumbnail view, the order seems to arbitrariliy change to some sort of preset.  What's worse, it appears to be changing to something that's in a jumbled order.
This isn't a big deal if I only have 10 clips.  If I have 100, or 1,000 clips though, they have to be in a sortable order for the thumbnail view to be of any use.
    Thanks,
    Eli

    Hi,
Thanks for your post. Our current design doesn't support keeping order between list view and icon view. It would be good if you can drop that as a feature request / bug into the the forum.
