Can't sync after computer upgrade

Hi,
Friday night I got a new MacBook pro. Yesterday I used the transfer function to move all of my files from my old MacBook to the new one.
This morning, I can't sync my iPad. My iPod does sync, so it isn't the ports on the MacBook or the cables.
I tried restarting both the iPad and the MacBook, and it still won't sync.
The iPad charges off the wall adaptor and when the cable is first plugged into the MacBook comes up with the charging screen, so it doesn't look like the iPad connector is broken.
Any suggestions on how to get them to sync?
Thanks,
Frank

Hi,
I have the same problem since I upgraded my OS from 10.5 to 10.6. Both my iPad and iPhone 4 are no longer detected by iTunes. I uninstalled iTunes and removed the Apple Mobile Device as described in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747 and that worked fine. both devices were detected and sync. However, the same problem came back the next day. I followed the same steps and once again I could sync. As you would have guessed, today it is no longer detected... looking for a permanent solution

  • Itouch unable to sync after computer upgrade

I recently had my computer upgraded which included wiping my old system, now my itouch library won't sync. I stored my entire library on my itouch during the upgrade and want to put it back. It states my computer is "NEW" and will not let me sync from the itouch to the computer, only offer ability to sync from computer to itouch wiping the itouch which is not what i want. If I loose my library on the computer that is fine but want to save what is on itouch.
    Please help

The ipod touch is not a backup device.
Did you wipe your computer without making sure that you had a backup copy of all dos/pics/music/etc?
What about your regular backup of your computer?
Use your backup copy to put everything back on the computer.
When you sync the ipod, it will be erased and the music replaced with the music from the new computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases - without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases

  • Can't Sync after IOS5 Upgrade - Device driver software was not successfully installed

I upgraded to OS5 and now can't sync. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and rebooting and still get an error saying Apple Mobile Device USB Driver was not successfully installed. This is on Windows7 64bit Anyone else had this problem?

I am still having issues completing a sync with my iPhone4 regardless of which USB port I use. I started the upgrade to iOS5 and the update to the phone completed. However, I am unable to get the phone to sync to load all of my apps to the phone. I have tried unstalling and reinstalling iTunes, including deleting any files which may have been missed by the uninstall. I have repeated this process over 5 times using IE, Chrome and Firefox just to make sure it was not a driver issue. Every time, when I connect the iPhone, I get the message it is installing the device driver for iPhone, following by the error mssage "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver Failed" Does anyone out there have any ideas?
    Thnaks!

  • Hey there, I have an iPhone 3g that was synced to my computer. My computer got stolen with all my music on it. I have a new computer but I can't sync my computer to my iPhone. How can I recover everything that's on my iPhone 3g to my computer?

Hey there, I have an iPhone 3g that was synced to my computer. My computer got stolen with all my music on it. I have a new computer but I can't sync my computer to my iPhone. How can I recover everything that's on my iPhone 3g to my computer?

If your backup copy of your computer was not stolen, then use it to put everything back.
Otherwise, authorize your computer for your itunes account, connect iphone, do not sync, Click:  File>Transfer Purchases
This will transfer itunes purchases from the iphone to the computer.
Enter at least one unique contact and calendar entry on the new computer.  When you first sync, then you should get the option to merge the data.

  • Hi we setup ISE in our lab. We have 2 PSN registered but one of the node is out of sync after I upgraded form 1.1 to 1.2

Hi we setup ISE in our lab. We have 2 PSN registered but one of the node is out of sync after I upgraded form 1.1 to 1.2

For out of sync issues, which most likely are due to time changes or NTP sync issues, you must correct the system time and perform a manual sync up through the UI.
For certificate expiry issues, you must install a valid certificate and perform a manual sync up through the UI.
For a node that has been down for more than six hours, you must restart the node, check for connectivity issues, and perform a manual sync up through the UI.

  • Can't sync iPhone after computer upgrade

I just upgraded my notebook hard drive and started everything on the computer - including my iTunes library - over from scratch. Unfortunately, even though this is the same computer I was using before (albeit with a new hard drive, and upgraded to Leopard), the iPhone doesn't seem to be recognizing it as such: I can't sync or play music through iTunes.
Is there any way, short of wiping the iPhone and all of that jazz, to get the phone working with my computer? This is definitely not the sort of user experience I've come to expect from Apple.

    Brendan,
If you replaced your hard drive, the iPhone is going to think it's connected to a different computer. So in order to sync, it will need to erase the content from your iPhone and re-sync it. If you set up all of your iTunes info (and the other info you normally sync to the iPhone), all you will need to do is sync the information back to your iPhone from the computer.
    Hope this helps,
    Jennifer B.

  • Can't syn after I upgrade to IOS 5

I upgrade to IOS 5 lately and realise I can't syn my iPhone to Outlook. I am using Windows 7. It has been syncing fine till I upgrade. I have tried un-installing iTunes and even re-formating my computer to re-install Windows but it still does not help. There is no error message when syncing but just take a long time to sync, after that, I checked and realise the calendar and notes entries are just not being updated. Despite I have already tick and checked the boxes in iTunes but still no use. Am very desperate, do advice. Thanks!

When reading about the antivirus, I didn't equate that to the iPhone. Since antivirus software cannot run in the background on an iPhone, that isn't it and if pop-up blockers was enabled before I doubt that has anything to do with it either.
Is the statement in PDF format?

  • Why won't my ringtones sync after stupid upgrade?

I completed the stupid upgrade and not half my ringtones won't sync to phone, they show up in my 'library' and on my phone in itunes, but not actually on my stupid iphone. ***

You can only sync with one computer and the iPod see the computer as a new computer
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
If all the synced  media like apps and music are on the rebuilt computer then just backup the iPod and restore from that backup

  • Can not sync after deleting three iTunes files using ifun box app

Hi, I was having trouble with the new version of iTunes not recognizing my iPhone 5s. Using ifun box I deleted 3 files as suggested on a previous post. I can see my phone now but I can't sync it because it says I dont have enough free space to hold all of the selected items. Can anyone help me to sync my phone without having to restore it? Thx...

    Good day BroJustice,
You can find out how your iPhone's memory is being used using the methods described in this thread -
Can someone tell me where can I view how much m... | Apple Support Communities
You might, for instance, delete photos, movies or music from the iPhone if you no longer need it. Apps that you no longer use could also be removed.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • [SOLVED] can't boot after kernel upgrade

I'm on 3.5.4-1-ARCH, then I upgrade to linux-3.5.6-1 and reboot. The result is a message that cant load "autofs4" module. And a "uname -r" says me: 3.5.4-1-ARCH instead of 3.5.6!!
I've tried to run depmod after the upgrade with de same result.

It sounds as if the new kernel did not find its way to your boot partition.  This could have been because the boot partition was not mounted when you did the upgrade (in which case the file is in the /boot mount point of your root partition) or that you are not booting from the partition you are expecting (Do you, per chance, have two boot partitions?)
Regardless, boot from an install media and fix it from the command line.  if the files are in /boot of the root partition rather then one the boot partition, mount both volumes and just move the files.  If there are multiple boot partitions, move the files to the correct partition.  Once you reboot, fix the /etc/fstab to point to the correct boot partition.

I had to re-install software on my computer after it locked me out. I removed my IPod from my Apple I.D. under my account in ITunes due to re-naming my computer. Now, my IPod Classic will not sync. It shows up under my computer and even shows in ITunes when connected. Please help!

Permissions on that "Shared" folder should be:
    you can: r/w
    owner: system - r/w
    group: wheel - r/w
    others: r/w
    This should help:

  • Can not sync with computer after installing IOS 8 on iPhone 5s

I cannot sync with my computer after installing IOS 8 on iPhone 5s. In iTunes I get a dialogue box that says that the computer is not authorized (it is) I deauthorize and then authorize and it comes up again that the compeer cannot synch because it is not authorized. ???

If it's not an authorized Apple charging cord, it may no longer work.  When I updated the iOS on my iPhone 5, it did the same thing; iOS 8 is just better at recognizing non-Apple cords.  There are a couple that are still recognized, but most no longer work.  I'd already seen it happen when I upgraded to an iPad Air -- it will definitely only accept authorized Apple cables -- so I knew what was happening.
