Can't  Sync Apps

I wiped and loaded my computer with Windows 7 RC, but now I can't get my iPhone apps to sync. At first I copied my iTunes library from Windows Vista to Windows 7 and tried to sync, but it wouldn't allow my music/apps. It said I needed to authorize the computer. So I authorized it and iTunes said including this computer I have used 4 of 5 authorizations. Tried syncing again, and it keeps coming up with the same error.
After I paid to have my music un-DRM'd it synced the music, but I still get the error with the apps. I have deleted and redownloaded the apps on the Windows 7 machine, which downloaded fine, but it still says it's not authorized to use them.
I could just download them through the phone, but then I wouldn't be able to back them up since iTunes wants to delete them everytime I wanna sync.
Anyone know how I might be able to fix this problem other then reverting back to Vista?
Thanks!

I will try some of the obvious questions right off the bat;
Have you tried running iTunes under compatibility mode? Some people have reported issues with iTunes under Windows 7, particularly with synchs. I imagine Apple will put out an update to this later. Try running in Compatibility mode (for Vista or XP), and if that doesn't get it, also try running as Administrator (right click, run as Admin). Those are the first two things I would try.
You might try looking at the threads over at the official Windows 7 RC Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . There are a couple of them relating to iTunes and a few on synch issues in particular. The search function under the forums works pretty well, so it shouldn't be too hard to find those threads.

  • No app store present on iPod Touch 4th gen and can't sync apps in iTunes, tried restoring/updating

I've tried everything I know to fix this problem with no luck so far, I'm hoping someone can help. Note that iTunes has been updated to the latest version (and my friend's computer is running Windows 7, if that helps at all).
My friend has an iPod Touch 4th generation. A while back he asked me to help him get apps onto the iPod, and I discovered that the App Store on the iPod itself was nowhere to be found, nor can he remember ever having one. In addition to this, he can't sync apps onto the iPod from within iTunes - the option to sync in the apps tab is greyed out. The music/movies/etc. sync just fine, however. At the time, his iPod had iOS 4.1.
After checking for parental restrictions in his iTunes and the iPod, I found that his iPod has a restrictions password set, which he doesn't know. His parents have no memory of setting restrictions and don't know the password, either.
I read online that the only way to remove the restrictions password is to restore the iPod, and since this seemed to be a good idea anyway due to the odd issue with iTunes refusing to sync apps, we restored the iPod and updated to iOS 5.1 today. Unfortunately, the App Store is still nowhere to be found, and we still can't sync apps in iTunes. The iPod still claims a restrictions password has been set as well.
I have checked and double-checked that no restrictions are set in iTunes preferences. My friend created a new iTunes account, so that shouldn't be the problem. While we're hoping to get both iTunes sync and the iPod App Store app working properly, right now he just wants to be able to get apps onto his iPod.
Does anyone have any ideas why his iPod didn't come with an App Store app, why it still doesn't have the Store after restoring, why iTunes won't sync apps, or why the restrictions password is still set after the restore? I've honestly run out of ideas as to how to fix this.
Before I posted this, I did a little more looking online about the restrictions password, which is apparently restored along with a backup. Neither of us were present during the restore (we had to leave for a couple of hours after the restore had been started), so I'm only asking this because I don't have his iPod or computer with me at the moment to test it myself - is there a way to manually cancel restoring from a backup during the process? If so, I need to restore the iPod a second time.
In the meantime, any ideas about my other three questions?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Edit: His iTunes account is authorized, by the way.

What exactly happmens when you try? Error message?

  • How can I sync apps from my iTunes on Macbook Air without syncing apps from the iPad 2 to my Macbook Air?

How can I sync apps from my iTunes on Macbook Air without syncing apps from the iPad 2 to my Macbook Air? (As my Macbook Air is only 64GB and my iPad is 64GB and that my Macbook Air only has 40 GB left...) Or is there no other way but to sync apps from iTunes to iPad without syncing apps from iPad to iTunes(it says Backing Up , then it says Converting files to iTunes, then it shows the name of the app on the bottom...)

Yes, sign in with the same Apple ID as your stolen one in the new iPod Touch.

  • Can't sync apps or music iphone 4S ios_5

I can't sync apps or music to my 4S.  I had upgraded my 4 to ios5, made a good backup, and tried to restore backup to the 4S.  It says it is syncing (for an hour), but there are no apps on the phone other than built-in apps, and no music or audio content of any kind.  Videos sync, as do contacts and notes.
    I have tried the following:
    Multiple syncs
    delete itunes plist
    delete and reinstall itunes
repair permissions (Power mac dual g5 2.0Ghz, 10.5.8, all software updated)
restore iphone 4S from scratch 3 times
tried the "dual restore" trick at least 6 times
Bought apps on phone and on computer (this has worked in past for certain itunes errors)
deauthorize and reauthorize computer for store
Here's where it gets weird - if I click the "apps" tab then 14GB of apps show up on the summary as loaded on the phone, but they're not.  If I download a previously owned app, the data for the app is already on the iphone (1password pro, angry birds, etc.).  I still can't sync so re-downloading all of the apps is not going to work for me.
I am at my wit's end - Genius Bar was unable to assist.  Any tips are appreciated.
    Thanks!

I have the same problem with the apps.  I can't find the way to make them work on my IPhone 4s.
    I have also tried:
    Multiple syncs,
Restoring several times to factory settings and back to different back-ups
Plugging the USB cable in a different port,
Removed data (pictures and videos) to allow more memory space,
    Uninstalling and reinstalling ITunes,
    Deauthorize and reauthorize my computer
When my phone is plugged in and it's in sync mode, the apps tab on the ITunes is grayed out (meaning that is not getting included).  We have two old 3G iPhone and an IPad that sync from the same computer and they work fine.
Please help if you have had any success!
    Thank you!

when trying to sync my iPhone i get a message saying : iTunes can't sync apps to iPhone because the apps installed on the phone could not be determine. what is going on?

I received the same error message after I had recently updated iTunes to 10.5.1 and I had wirelessly updated 13 apps.  I had to go into iTunes and select Apps, on the bottom right it said I needed to update 13 apps.  I updated the apps via iTunes and then synced again without an issue.

  • ITunes can not sync apps to the iPhone because it can not be determined which apps are installed on the iPhone.

    Hello.
    I get this error message
iTunes can not sync apps to the iPhone because it can not be determined which apps are installed on the iPhone.
iTunes kann keine Apps mit dem iPhone synchronisieren weil nicht festgestellt werden kann welche Apps auf dem iPhone installiert sind.
    Need Help

Basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore.  Have the first two been tried?
How about simply unplugging the iPhone and plugging it back in to sync?
What has been done in an attempt to troubleshoot the issue?

  • I authorized 2 laptops to my iPhone 5 but one can only sync music while the other can only sync apps!

I have an iPhone 5 and I have authorized 2 laptops to sync with it.
The problem is I can only sync apps I have downloaded from one laptop while music from the other laptop. I can't sync music and apps to my iPhone from the same laptop.
    How do I solve this?
Note: The first laptop I synced with is also shared with my wife's iPhone 4.
    Thanks in advance.

you can only really sync your phone with one device, well strictly not true but its the better practice.
    first point, be careful here.
second, plug your iPhone into the first machine and check the settings related to synchronising with 'that' machine.
then do the same with the second.
you will find that one is setup to sync apps and the other to sync music. I'd recommend that you go to the one that has your music stored on it, get it to download all of your apps and use this machine as your main machine from now on.
Using two seperate machines must be confusing and could lead to you suddenly loosing all of you data if you sync completely with one machine that does contain everything you want!

  • Just upgraded from Ipad1 to 3rd Gen. Can't sync apps. Device is trying to sync and shows almost 25 apps as 'waiting' but there is no further progress.  Help!!

Please help if anyone knows how to sync apps on Ipad3. I've tried syncing device to i-cloud and it shows as though it is fully updated.  However, on the device there are almost 25 icons for apps which are greyed out and show the message 'waiting' under them.  I can't pause any of the downloads.  Also, the device is trying to download an app which I've previously deleted.  As a result, I can't use the device for anything web-related as it just locks up.
Has anyone got any suggestions?   Another forum suggested to untick 'auto sync apps' re-sync then tick 'auto sync apps and re-sync again.  This hasn't worked.

For the first time sync I would recommend turning off icloud and doing a usb sync with itunes on a mac or pc, if possible.  How robust is the wireless network you are using?

  • I decided to change my apple id on my iphone 5 to have a seperate account from the other people in my family. I changed all of the setting to the new id and I can't sync apps or music to my phone and i dont know what else to do. Please help!!!

If you didn't already do so, authorize your computer for the new ID by opening iTunes and going to Store>Authorize This Computer.  Then sync your phone with iTunes.

  • Can't sync apps to 1st gen ipod touch

I have a 1st gen ipod touch and can no longer sync apps. My itunes says that the software is not compatible even though i have the latest updates. Is this a lost cause or can i fix it.
Apps I have previously had will no longer sync either
    HELP

I too have a 1st gen and running 3.1.3. I've tried to download various apps and get the banner warning. What really is disappointing is the fact 2nd gen and up is supported. There really wasn't much of a time difference in the release dates so this is another example of apple FORCING it''s bread and butter to keep shelling out cash. I've resorted to just using this thing for what it is. A MP3 player. When it dies, I'll start using my Android phone for music. My 4 teens have all been told, make your ipod last as I'm not buying a replacement. Those who have drunk their kookaid I hope suffer a hardware failure when it matters most. Shame on you apple for treating your customers this way. . I've had enough and I hope you lose more market share as time goes on to a more open and as far as I'm concerned, a better produce, Android. Good night.

  • Can't sync apps, music or videos on my iPhone4 with iTunes 10.2.2

I just updated iTunes to 10.2.2 (on 10.2.1 everything was going smoothly) and now it seems that i can't sync anything to my iPhone 4 (fw 4.3.2). I'm using a Windows 7 32-bit OS.
After selecting any app from the apps tab, iTunes will display the next messages:
    - It will sync the phone just after pressing the apply button;
    - Prepairing to sync;
    - Copying "Angry birds" (this lasts for like 1 second);
    - Determining apps to sync;
    - Finishing sync.
After this process, on my iPhone, there will not be any new apps installed or any other files (music, videos) copied.
Any ideeas why is this happening?

Same Problem but with my iPod Touch 4th gen and that I can't sync my music. I tried re-installing itunes, Creating new playlists, added the music to the playlist then synced but it will not sync my music. I get 'determining tracks to sync' but skips to 'finishing sync'. I can take music off my iPod but can't add it. Fix this apple, this is very frustrating!

  • Can't sync apps - authorisation failure

    Hi there,
i discovered a strage problem. since a couple of days i can't sync my iphone with itunes. well to be more specific, itunes says: This computer is no longer authorized for applications that are installed on the iPhone. Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from iTunes Store?
Sure I will, but everytime i'll try to authorise the store replies: This Computer is allready authorised.
I actually can't restore the software one my iphone, because if i do i will loose my apps i just bought a couple of days ago. And there a not sync with iTunes yet. By the way. I can't find "Search for purchased items" in iTunes anymore. Did anybody see it.
Another thing. I have iTunes 8.1.1 and I have authorize problems with the US store and the German store (i live in both countries!)
    Does anyone can help.
    Cheers
    Jan

If you update your iPhone without backing up your apps, you will not actually lose the apps, you will only lose any data you have placed in those apps. The App Store recognizes when an app has been purchased under your iTunes account. (Unlike iTunes itself, which is beyond me.) Anyways, you can always re-download any apps that you have previously purchased for free.
As far as the "authorized" issue you are facing, it may be solved simply by "de-autorizing" your current machine via iTunes then signing back into your iTunes account.

  • How can I sync apps from Mac to iPhone and visa versa.

    Hi,
Firstly I'm not having any problems syncing apps to my iPhone.
I'm very OCD and would like to have it so that If I install an app onto my Mac, it sync to my iPhone. And then if I delete it from my Mac and plug my phone in to sync, it will delete it from my iPhone.
Basically I want my iMac to be the hub of the apps, so everything I see on my iMac will be on my phone.
Let me know if you have a solution for this!
    Tim

As far as installing is concerned, if you install an iPhone app on your Mac and sync your iPhone to your Mac using either USB or WiFi the app will be installed on your phone. You can also go (on the phone) to Settings/iTunes & App Store and turn on Automatic Downloads for apps. Then whenever you buy or download an app on your computer or another Apple device it will automatically be installed on your iPhone.
For uninstalling, there are 2 ways to uninstall; one is on the phone (which you said you don't want to do) and the other is to connect the phone to iTunes, click on it, then on Apps, and uncheck any apps you don't want on the phone, then sync.

  • Can I sync apps to two iPhone with two apple accnt?

As title, can I do that? How? thanks.

Apps can not be shared between two accounts. You can only use apps with the account you used to buy them. You can use apps on more than one phone if you sync to the same account in itunes on both devices.
