Can't sync cause of unknown error 13019

I just updated my i-pod touch with 3.1.3 and now when I try and sync it won't finish and all it says is unknown error 13019. I have restarted my computer and changed USB cables. Everything is updated, I don't know what to do.

Even though you've got a 3.1.3, the following document is still a good place to start with a 13019:

What does unknown error 13019 mean?

Check out this Apple article -> iTunes: Error 13019 during sync
Try disabling automatic syncing of the iPod from iTunes preferences. Also, take a look at what's syncing to the iPod when you see the error and try to uncheck that to see if the error stops. There might be a bad file in that group of content.

Are you on a local area network or single machine? If you don't have read/write permissions on your own Movies folder there is a problem with your user account. If you are on a stand alone machine the user who set up the mac would be the administrator and would normally have rights to change the permissions on your folder. If you are supposed to be an administrator but can't change permissions try creating a 'root' user. Check out apple documentation for root user accounts though, you can really mess up your system if you don't know what you are doing. If you are a network user it will take someone with an administrator level account to change permissions.

  • How can you get your music synced from iTunes to your iPod when a window pop ups on the screen saying"The iPod "Edward's iPod" cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (13019))?

I had 429 songs already on my iPod Touch. When I was in the process of syncing a song from my iTunes Library on to my iPod, a window popped up on the screen saying, ""The iPod "Edward's iPod" cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (13019)). I click "Device" on my iTunes Library to make sure the song was in my iPod. It showed the song that was recently synced now listed under "Device", but when I physically looked for the song on my iPod Touch, it does not appear on there at all. It all started when I decided to put a Playlist I created in the iTunes Library and transferred it on to my iPod. Do you know why it may affected my syncing process and is there any way where I could get the syncing function back to normal so that I can continue adding songs on my iPod? Thank you for listening.    P.S. My iPod iOS version is 4.3.5.

  • Nano 5 cannot by synced with unknown error 13019; can't download restore

I know there are variations on this problem, but I didn't see any quite like what I'm experiencing.
New Nano 5. Connected it to itunes it synced ok. The next time I attempted to resync, I got unknown error 13019 and it wouldn't sync. I reset the Nano, still got error. I attempted to restore it and the restore download timed out. Tried that at different times with same results. Can you download the restore from the apple web site rather than thru itunes, or is it limited to that? Any other suggestions.
    Thanks

  • HT1351 I have tried numerous times to resolve an issue with my wife's iPod (5th gen#.  When I connect to iTunes I get a pop up error message that goes like this - The iPod "Linda's iOod" cannot be synced.  An unknown error occured #13019)...What do I do?

I have had very much trouble adding music to my wife's iPod.  Every time I connect to iTunes, I get an error message that reads ...The iPod "Linda's iPod" cannot be synced.  An unknown error occured (13019)...I have tried diagnostics, help and what ever iTunes has to offer and cannot fix the issue.  I want to add a new playlist with new music.  When I connect her iPod, the playlist shows up on her device.  When I disconnect, I can not find it in order to play it.  Help me.

Some other posts seem to indicate that the cause is related to voice memos.  You may want to try the remedy described in this document

although it says it's for the 6th gen iPod nano.

  • The iPhone cannot be synced. Unknown error (13019) - anyone run into this?

The iPhone cannot be synced. Unknown error (13019) - anyone run into this?

    Stephen's got you covered.
I've also seen the following reported cause/workaround:
After several Google searches I found the iPad syncing problem to be caused by iPhoto 9.4 not handling the & correctly in names. It's not recognizing them as & which is causing problems with XML. You can manually change them or wait for Apple to issue a fix to iPhoto 9.4. I started to do the manual fix & I just have too many to change.
(Manual renaming isn't going to be an easy/good workaround for a bunch of folks, though.)

  • Nano cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (13019)

Touch and nano cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (13019).

Ive fixed this issue before. The steps are kinda long but they work.
This is for windows computers with iPod nano that get the error 13019 during or after a sync with iTunes.
    -Open itunes
    --click, edit, click preferences
    --select advanced
---make a note of the iTunes media folder location on a notepad.
---put a check in organize files
---take the check out of copy files
    ---click ok
--Click file, at the top of iTunes
--move mouse over library, select organize, and consolidate files. ( This ensures all music in you iTunes will be in the iTunes media folder later.)
At this point, if you have playlists you want to save:
-Create a folder on your desktop, call it, playlists
--Hover you mouse over your playlist in iTunes, should be at the bottom of the blue/grey column on the left.
--right click the playlist, select export playlist
--Navigate to your desktop and open the playlist folder and save.
---Do this for each playlist you want to save
    -Close itunes
-Click your start button, and open computer or my computer
--Using what you wrote down on your note pad, follow the path to the "iTunes folder", NOT the iTunes media folder
    --Open the iTunes folder.
    --Stop here
-You will see icons that look like folders and you will see icons that look like files-
    -You will KEEP the FOLDERS
    -You will DELETE the FILES
--If it makes you more comfortable you can cut the files out and paste on your desktop, but as of now we do not need the files any longer as we have the playlists backed up. Remember-Keep the folders.
    --That was the magic--
    -Disconnect your iPod if connected.
-When you open your iTunes, it will be empty, that is OK. We are recreating the library. Everything will come back in a few seconds.
    -Click file at the top
--Select, add FOLDER to library, not to be confused with add file.
--In the window that pops up, locate and click on computer or my computer
--From here follow the path to the iTunes media folder on your note pad, but do not open the iTunes media folder.
--Click the iTunes music/media folder one time so it highlights.
--On the bottom right you will have option to select folder, or choose folder or OK. Hit that button.
All your music will start to import back into iTunes.
    -Plug in iPod after completed
--a message pops up about being synced with a different library.
    --Click erase and sync
--Watch all your songs go on your iPod with no error message.
From here you may sync your iPod the way you want with out worrying about the persnickety error 13019!!!!!
    Hope this helps!!!
    Julian
    p.s. Follow the directions exactly.
p.s.s. To add your playlists back to itunes:
-Click file at the top of the screen
--move your mouse over library, selece import playlist
--on the new screen that pops up, navigate to your desktop
--open the playlist folder, select the first playlist, hit ok
    --repeat for each playlist exported

  • Unknown Error 13019 when syncing Iphone 4 with Itunes

Hello. I used to have absolutely no problem syncing podcasts/music/videos with my phone. Then one day, my friend came over with his ipod and synced with my library and now it no longer allows me to change those 3 things. It will backup my phone just fine as well as allow me to update my ringtones and update my apps, but I always get that unknown error 13019 right before it finishes syncing and it won't update my library with any changes to music/podcasts/movies.
I've tried reinstalling and that doesn't fix it. Any help would be fine. Also, the media I had on my phone prior to my friend syncing his ipod stays on my phone to this day, I just can't add to it or change it in anyway.
    Thanks in advance
