Can't Sync Certain Songs (2nd Gen)

Just bought a brand new 2nd Gen shuffle. I seem unable to sync certain songs to it. I'm not certain, but it seems to be songs that were copied into iTunes from audio CD's. Is this blocked in some misguided attempt at digital rights management? These are songs from CD's I own, which iTunes had no problem importing. Or is there some technical issue with imported songs that I need to address?

What format are the songs that won't move? Some formats that play in iTunes are not compatible with the 1st generation iPod shuffle, Aiff and Apple Lossless for instance. Apple Lossless is not supported on the 2nd generation shuffle:

  • Can't sync certain songs on my Vista pc

I just got a new laptop running Vista and I've moved my 2nd Gen. iPod Nano to it and I'm getting error messsages about certain songs. I put my iTunes library from my old pc to my new one and once I erased my iPod, I tried putting the songs back. I got an error message saying that "Some of the items in the iTunes library, including "(song name here)", were not copied to the iPod "(iPod name here)" because you are not authorized to play them on this computer.". I got the same message again after purchasing a new song from the iTunes Store. Can anyone help me?? Thanks.

I had a copy of the 7.1something installer on my extra harddrive, so I just reinstalled it, and now my iPod is syncing fine again...
Still, if anyone knows how to fix the 7.2 problem let me know...

  • Can't sync my shuffle 2nd gen of i tunes

i cnat sync my shuffle @nd gen, i just downloaded the newest version of i tunes but it does not wor. Itunes detect it but unable too sync.

If you have the sidebar visible, as describe in my first reply, the shuffle appears in the sidebar under DEVICES.  When you click on it to select it, it become highlighted in the sidebar.  Over to the right, it shows the Summary (or Settings) screen for the shuffle.
If you don't have the sidebar visible (it is hidden), near the upper right corner of the window, there is what I call the "device button."  If there is only your shuffle connected, it should say iPod.  Click it to select the shuffle.  The iTunes window shows the Summary (or Settings) screen for the shuffle.
Either way, your shuffle is selected in iTunes.

  • I can't sync certain songs to my iPod now that I've upgraded to 7.2

Songs that I had bought from the iTunes store in the past won't sync to my 2 gig ipod nano now that I have installed iTunes 7.2. I don't understand why, since I burned those songs to a CD and reimported them as .mp3s, just like I would a regular CD...

  • During sync, iPod touch 2nd gen shows error code for 2 apps: 0xe8008001

In attempting to sync my iPod 2nd Gen, two games - JellyCar 3 and TreesofDoom will not sync and the message: The app "jelly car 3" was not installed on the ipod touch because an unknown error occured (0xe8008001).  I have not been able to locate this specific error on the support site.Any help is certainly appreciated

    Sounds like this:
    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

  • ITunes "canceling sync," certain songs won't sync to iPhone 4

Despite not making any hardware or software changes, I find myself not being able to sync certain songs to my iPhone 4. The sync process goes through all the steps as usual, and then on the last step, syncing music, after a few songs copy it says "Canceling sync." There is no pop-up error, so I just have to notice when "Canceling sync" shows up for a couple seconds to know that not everything copied that I wanted to.
My music library is on an external hard drive, as it has been for quite a while. The songs that don't sync to the iPhone are from a variety of sources: iTunes purchases, non-iTunes purchases, GarageBand tracks, CD rips. They all play on iTunes. They can be synced to and play on my iPods (a Shuffle and a Classic). I've tried closing and reopening iTunes, resetting the iPhone, ejecting and reconnecting the external hard drive, resetting the computer. Same problem every time.
The missing songs do show up on the iPhone, but they're in grey and can't be played. Most of them used to be on the iPhone and played with no problem. What am I doing wrong?

    Hi,
I had one music that was not syncing to my iPad. The artwork was a picture of me and my daugther (we recorded the music together on a studio).
I can only sync this music after deleting the artwork!
Maybe the artwork file you used for these songs could be the problem. Try change or deleting the artwork of these songs.
    Hope it helps!
    Regards.

  • Can't delete certain songs off my iPhone

A few months ago I clicked the "Show all music" it the music settings on my iPhone. After a few weeks I no longer wanted all the music to show up so I turned it off. Now I can't get certain songs off my phone. I am unable to swipe left on these songs and they don't show up on iTunes or on the One This iPhone tab. All of the songs appear to be songs that I have since deleted from my iTunes library. I have tried removing all songs from the iPhone yet the pesky songs are still there. I also tried unclicking the Sync Music in the Music tab of my iPhone but nothing seems to get theses songs to go away.
    Please help.

This will delete all the music from the device:
    Settings > General > Usage > Music > Edit > > Delete

  • My Itunes keeps telling me I can't play certain songs because I already have five computers authorized, but I don't???

My Itunes keeps telling me I can't play certain songs because I already have five computers authorized, but I don't???  How do I fix this.  I know over the years, I have had a lot of different computers at my work and that is the only place I use my Itunes at.  So how do you unauthorize a computer that isn't even around anymore??

Make sure that yo have the boxed chanced to only sync the checked music. It appears that it is trying to sync ore than those.
You can try unsycing all music and resyncing.

  • Can I sync the songs from two different Apple IDs (HK and JP) into one iPhone?

I want to buy some songs from a HK Apple ID and a JP Apple ID.
I just hope the songs of two Apple ID can appear in one iPhone.
But I don't want can I sync the songs from two different Apple IDs (HK and JP) into one iPhone.

Are you currently in Japan or Hong Kong ? You have to be in a country (and have a billing address in that country on your account) to buy or download from its store, that is included in the store's terms.
You can sync content from different accounts from your computer's iTunes library.

  • Looking for a stopwatch app that can run on iPod Touch 2nd Gen (using ios 4.2.1), do any exist?

Looking for a stopwatch app that can run on iPod Touch 2nd Gen (using ios 4.2.1), do any exist?

To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

Add the ability to randomly select a new background from a pre selected group of photos every time the player is turned on or each day.
I would love that feature. I can't stand useing my computer with a single wall paper anymore (I have 500 anime pics that i rotate between every 2 mins ) If you could make the vision rotate background every x minutes or every time the player is turned on, it would be totally amazeningly sweet!!!! (i might have to go out and buy one then :P)
I just hope that creative has better firmware support with the vision than they have had with the touch.
    Once again, great review

  • Error (-50) Can't Sync Some Songs to iPhone 4

I have about 4,000 songs in my iTunes Library syncing to my iPhone. They would all sync well until I added one album, The Very Best of Eagles. Whenever it syncs now, it gives me an error saying "iTunes can't sync the song "Wasted Time" to the iPhone "Esteban Valle's iPhone 4" because an unknown error occurred (-50)"
I have already restored my iPhone and set up as new iPhone, reinstalled iTunes, and reencoded the album to no avail. Everything else syncs okay until it gets to this song, "Wasted Time"
What more can I do to fix this?

Actually guys, it's pretty dumb. I had imported also the disc "Hotel California" in the same session, and it turns out that that album had the song in question. I deleted the whole album and will try to reimport it. Anyway, mine's fixed, although now Im ****** I had to restore my iPhone . I'm gonna try to restore back to the old backup again.
Anyway I'll leave the question as unanswered because I know lots of other people are having this problem too, and it will encourage more answers.
