Can't sync events created on the iPhone back to Outlook or iCal

after upgraded my two iPhones to 1.1.4 I cannot sync events created in the iPhone back into Outlook on my Vista machine or iCal on my Macbook (for the second iPhone). I searched the forum but found no answer other than a RESTORE... I already needed a RESTORE in one of the iPhones as music data got corrupted after upgrade (it created a huge OTHER file.
1.1.4 fixed bugs and added quite a few!
any advice out there other than RESTORE? As always the helpful agent from apple support suggests restoring the iPhone and denies anybody else having issues.

The first question I wold have to trouble shoot your problems is: Do you have an active open account on Outlook? Do you have more then one account active on outlook? When you connect your iPhone to iTunes and go to the second Tab...What boxes do you have selected? Are you set up to Auto or Manual Sync?
Currently I have one active account in Outlook that is displaying my MSN account that was IMAP'd through izymail.com. All of my sync modes are set to manual so that I can control what and when my sync occurs. All of my boxes are checked in the second tab to sync to the outlook account that I have established. If this does not help then please answer the questions above so that I or someone else can assist you further.

  • Can't sync events entered on the iPhone into Outlook

I am trying to use Outlook 2003 to backup my calendar. I have not been able to get it to sync, have tried everything that has been suggested on the forum, but no luck. I would be happy if I could just get the calendar events that I have entered in my iPhone to download to Outlook so that I have a backup of it, but the option in iTunes that says "Put new events created on this iPhone into the calendar" is greyed out. Is there some way for me to just take my calendar as it stands on the iPhone and push it into Outlook...or some calendar that could sit on my desktop?

i have itunee 11 and iphone 4 and i can't sync my apps to the iphone. it just stops on "determining apps to sync".please help

it is an itouch, i buy apps from the app store, they are purchased, they show up in my app section but when i try to sync them to my itouch they do not show up in on the itouch. i have tried to atuthorize and deauthorize the computer also few times, rebooted computer and still nothing. when i restore the firmware and have everything reinstall all over again the apps music and such, all show up. however if i buy a new app and try to sync it with the itouch it does not show up despite the fact that the computer states 'installing "......" whatever app. it happens with numerous apps, there is no rhyme and reason to why certain apps just do not show up on the itouch. the authorize/deauthorize deal does nothing to rectify the situtaion. any other ideas ?

  • Why does my calendar not sync events created on my iphone

When I create an event on my iPhone 4 and then sync it to my MacBook, the event is not showing up in iCal.  I have "Sync all Calendars" checked in iTunes under info when my phone is connected.  This problem just started after I installed Snow Leopard.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
        1.    First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
        2.    Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
        3.    If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

  • Can you sync email sent from the iPhone to Mail.app?

When you send an email from iPhone, can you have it sync'd to the Sent folder of your Mail.app on your Mac? I had a look through the iPhone user guide and couldn't find the answer to this quesion.

It seems this is an unfair
    disadvantage for POP users.
    disconnekt,
I think your perception on this issue comes from an unwillingness to accept that POP email was never designed to take advantage of the features you want. It was conceived as a single client/server email retrieval system. It was nothing to do with "fairness". It is what it is.
Your desire to have the ability to receive, manipulate, and send email using different devices (iphone/desktop/laptop) yet have all those changes synchronized regardless of which device is used is a valid one. Many people (including myself) feel that way. However, I doubt Apple will spend significant development resources in finding a POP solution to this because it has already been done.
    It's called IMAP accounts.
In fact, apple has adopted this protocol in it's own email services, .mac My guess is that most development resources will likely be spent along enhancing functionality in their chosen platform, not POP
Unfortunately, that still leaves you in your current situation. If you can accept what POP is (and what it is not), you can take action on a possible solution rather than wait/hope one will be developed for you. I would advise slowly transitioning to an IMAP account as this seems to be more suited to your needs. I had 4 POP accounts exclusively until I got tired of being limited to checking and sending all my mail from home. I didn't want to check or send mail on my laptop, because once I did, those messages would have already been "downloaded/uploaded" and thus unavailable/unseen when I checked mail on my home computer. My mail ended up scattered across 2 devices. (sound familiar?) I dreaded changing email accounts because I felt I would lose important contacts in the process. In reality, it was no more devastating than a home address change when you move (which I'm sure you've done before)
    Here's how I did it:
    1. Get an IMAP account. (.mac is one. There are many)
    2. Most POP accounts allow for auto email forwarding, enable this feature to funneled all your mail to your new IMAP account.
    3. Create a signature announcing your new email address and use this on all outgoing email.
    4. Continue this until you feel comfortable dropping your old POP account. (I have yet to delete mine and it's been almost 2 years.)
Also note, that you could actually keep your old POP account indefinitely. Senders would just notice that all outgoing mail to you is addressed to a different domain then all incoming mail received from you.
Make the change. Based on what you've want you'll be glad you did.

  • HT201269 How can i sync my contacts from the iPhone to my mac pro?

    Hi
I am trying to sync my contacts on my IPhone to the mac pro but it seems not work.
Any one faced this issue and solved, Please advice.
    Regards

If you want your contacts to remain in sync across iOS devices, then you can use any Exchange-type of account.  For example, once you have a "clean" set of contacts with no duplicates, you could upload that into iCloud so that any change you make from your iPad would be reflected on your iPhone.  You don't have to use iCloud for e-mail since your devices can pull a contact from iCloud for use with GMail or Yahoo.
But you can also set GMail up as an Exchange account if you don't want to use iCloud.  The GMail account type in iOS is not Exchange, but you can set it up that way:
    http://support.google.com/mobile/bin/answer.py?l=en&topic=14252&answer=138740
The benefit of doing this is (a) your Google contacts remain in sync across all your devices, and (b) your GMail will then support Push notification.  Just one caveat, when you do this then the default behavior when you delete an e-mail is such that it is archived to your "All Mail" folder in GMail.  The only way to change this behavior is to use your device's Safari to navigate to m.google.com/sync and change the setting on Google's server for each of your devices.  This is a one-time thing, but important if you want trashed e-mails to really go to Trash.
As far as Contact Management Software options to clean things up, Google search is the only recommendation I have

  • How can I sync my contacts from the iPhone to google contacts while checking for duplicates?

I have been using Outlook to sync contacts and it works well.  Now I would like to get rid of Outlook and put the contacts that I have into my gmail and Yahoo contact accounts and keep all 3 in sync.  When I do it the first time, I'd like to be able to check for duplicates.  Is there a way to do this?

  • Events created on my iPhone 5 calendar are no longer syncing with iCal.

Events created on my iPhone 5 calendar are no longer syncing with iCal on my Macbook Pro (Lion OSX). It works fine the other way around.
I can't understand why, and cannot find a solution. Please help!

You can no longer sync via iTunes. That method of sync was removed (and the 1000+ post thread is arguments over things tangientally related to that).
You need to sync via other means than iTunes, then.
One option is to use iCloud. If you sign into iCloud on all your devices, and then make sure your calendars are in the "iCloud" section on your devices, they should sync.
If you don't want to use iCloud, you could use Google calendars, they operate much the same way (but may be less reliable).
Or if you use Exchange for work, you could sync that way.
Or if none of those are acceptable, you could install OS X Server and set up the calendar server on your local network and use it to sync. This is fairly straightforward "for setting up a UNIX calendar server" but it's not trivial and beyond the scope of a forum post to explain it all

  • Calendar Items Created on the iPhone do not Correctly Sync to Outlook 2003

I have a first generation iPhone that I upgraded the firmware to version 2.0. This problem didn't exist until after I upgraded.
I only sync my iPhone with one Outlook 2003 calendar. Soon after the upgraded, I noticed there were 3 calendars showing on my phone:
    - Calendar
    - Home
    - _ModCal24c5.Home
Since Calendar seems to be my main calendar and the other two were empty, I deleted Home and _ModCal24c5.Home. Now, when I create a calendar item on my iPhone and sync, it appears not to have transferred to my PC.
If I search for the iPhone calendar item in Outlook, it shows up in the active appointments list and I can copy it over to the Calendar folder. But then later, I notice that other meetings I set up in Outlook have disappeared. Erased both on the iPhone and in Outlook even though they were there and I never deleted the meeting in either the phone or the application.
Pretty much, the Outlook Calendar iPhone synch is screwy. I'm afraid to investigate my Contacts list since some entries may have disappeared, too.

I have been unable to sync Outlook 2002 and iPhone 2G since I upgraded to 7.7 and 2.0. Don't want to have to upgrade outlook but will do so if I know it will work. Anybody not having the problem???
I have spent hours trying to resolve. Please help

  • Can you send an event created on your iphone to a contact from your iphone?

Can you send an event created on your iphone to a contact from your iphone? If so I can't figure it out. I have asked this question before and somebody told me you could if you were a mobileme or exchange user. Well I am a mobileme user and if it can be done, I can't figure it out.
    Any help appreciated.

From the calendar app on my iphone? I know I can do it from iCal and from mobileme. When I look at the event on my iphone I can look at the invitees, but I do not see where I can add or delete an invitee. Maybe I am just missing it.

So I have found a common denominator to this phenomenon. After having the same problem, I started to recopy my playlist of 500+ songs in groups of 10-20, 30+, 75+, and then over a 100+. Any music I have purchased from iTunes won't copy, but everything else did. Unsure if I made a playlist called "Purchased" at some point or this is an iTunes default, I also noticed it had some of the songs contained in my other playlist and was showing on my iPhone. Regardless of what I did such as dragging music from that playlist to the other and clearing songs from that playlist, I removed it altogether from the iPhone itself vs. doing through iTunes. After that, music copied fine to my playlist.
So, my theory is that iTunes is getting tripped up on purchased tracks already showing on the phone and all songs are showing grayed out/dotted circle because iTunes can't resolve the conflict with purchased tracks.
Hope this makes sense and is helpful.

    Yes, windows to Mac too.

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

    Hi silverk,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand the need for all of your calendars to be up to date across all of your devices and how frustrating it can be when they are not syncing as you would expect. In this situation I would suggest reading over and using the attached article for troubleshooting.

  • Hi all, i can't sync over wifi between my iPhone 4 and Windows 7 64 bit, wifi sync works with the same phone and my Windows 8 machine, tried solutions from other threads with no luck, just thought i'd see if anyone else had any ideas, thanks.

Hi all, i can't sync over wifi between my iPhone 4 and Windows 7 64 bit, wifi sync works with the same phone and my Windows 8 machine so the problem seems confined to Windows 7. I've tried solutions from other threads -
Making sure everything is allowed through firewall
    Rebooting phone/laptop/router
    Disabling ipv6
Disabling all networks except the one curently on
    Re-installing iTunes
    Restoring iPhone
No luck with any of those unfortunately so i just thought i'd see if anyone else is still without wifi sync after trying those as well and if you ever found a fix, thanks.

I just wanted to leave a note that it's working now. I'm not sure if it was the latest iTunes update that got it working or that i decided to start a new library instead of using the one i had backed up on Windows 8 (it didn't occur to me to check using the old library when i re-installed iTunes). But if anyone is having this problem, it might be worth trying again with a new installation of iTunes to see if the latest update works for you, and if not, try using a fresh library instead of a backup (by fresh library i mean discard your old library completely and start a new library, not just restore as new iPhone, a whole new library).
