Can't sync iphoto-6 ?

I have OSX Tiger 10.4.11 with iphoto-6. I can sync music and applications and my address book from itunes but not my iphoto album. I get "unknown error (-50} in a window .why is this? it let's me sync photos from from my picture folder but not iphoto.....I am checking all the right boxes...Can anyone help? I have the latest itunes versions and itouch up to date.

Hi Chris,
Thanks a lot for your reply.  Unfortunately, I didn't have much luck with that.  Also tried rebooting and trying steps from scratch, as well as ensuring that the drive was mounted/connected first by navigating to it in a finder window, but no luck.
Next thing I tried was to make a symbolic link to the iPhoto library within the /Users/<my user directory>/Pictures directory, but this didn't work, either.
I also noticed that iPhoto didn't seem to keep the album organization that I created in the Photos app on my iPhone (e.g. I created an album "Honeymoon" on my phone, which is now empty on the phone itself.  But, there is no "Honeymoon" album in iPhoto after importing).
So, even if I could choose the iPhoto library, it seems that the next issue might be that I'd have to try to remember/find all of the pics that I had saved in each of those folders, in order to "refill" them on my iPhone.
Still stuck here ...
Cheers,
Steve

  • Can't sync iPhoto albums with Sony Bridge for Mac

When I connect the Sony Xperia Z3 compact to the mac the Sony Bridge for Mac shows up. I select the option to explore iPhoto. At first nothing shows up (Sony developers, it would be nice to at least show a spinner or progress bar) but after a while events appear. However all other picture categories (faces, albums, pictures or last importation) don't show up.
Since I prefer to organize pictures by albums rather than events I can't sync anything, as I have no options to check. I'm using Sony Bridge for Mac 3.8.3(3831) and iPhoto 9.5.3 (902.17). Does somebody know how to solve this?
    Solved!

    Hi Asle!
I'm very sorry to hear that you have a problem with BFM.
I will try to help but I need some more information.
    (1) The build number of your phone
    (2) The android version you are using
    (3) The version of iPhoto
It would also be very nice if you can send me the error logs.
Here’s how to get error logs from Sony Bridge for Mac:
    1. In BfM, hold the "alt" key down while selecting the "Phone" menu. Select "Clear logs" to remove all old logs and get a clean start
    2. Reproduce the problem you're having, whether it's connecting the phone, importing photos, doing backup...
    3. In BfM, hold the "alt" key down while selecting the ”Xperia” menu. Select "Export logs"
    4. On the computers desktop there should now be a file named "SonyBridgeForMacLogs_[date].zip
    5. PM that file to me
    Best regards

  • Can't sync iPhoto content

I can access my shared iTunes library remotely, and in iTunes/AppleTV/iPhoto, I have selected libraries to sync. But no photos are on the ATV. I'd like to use my pics as a screensaver, but....
It seems like I've set this up right. Ideas?
PROBLEM SOLVED, I WAS SETUP FOR A SHARED LIBRARY. NOT REAL INTUITIVE, THAT...

Each user needs to have a separate User Account on the Mac. If you set up Fast User Switching you can move between them quickly without having to log out and log in, though obviously this uses up more CPU power.
To set up a new User Account go to System Preferences>Users & Groups and click the + sign below the accounts list. probably any accounts other than yours should be non-admin - they will need your permission to install software.
Then each person has their own User Account and can make their iCloud account the primary account.

  • Can't sync iPhoto albums to iPhone

    Here's one I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere:
iTunes can sync my Schedules / Calendars / Bookmarks fine. But it has a problem with photos.
I can sync photos from my "Pictures" folder - but not from iPhoto. iTunes doesn't see any iPhoto albums at all, so there's no way to select or sync them. The list is blank, even though I have plenty of photo albums in iPhoto, just waitin' to be synced. (sunc?)
Does anyone else have this problem?
How can I get iTunes to see my iPhoto albums?

I have this problem as well, but I have my iPhoto set up in a funny way. I used ACLs to share the photo library between my account and my wife's account (why Apple doesn't make this easier, I don't know, as lots of families share photos). If I am syncing successfully on my account and then switch to my wife's account, none of the photo albums show up in iTunes for syncing. If I quit iTunes, launch iPhoto, quit, and relaunch iTunes it works fine. But then I have to do the same thing once I switch back to my account.

  • Can I sync iphoto library between two Mac's?

I have two Macs (an iMac and a Macbook Pro) and want to sync the iPhoto (6.0.6) library between the two so whenever I change one the other is updated. I thought about using iDisk but my library is apx 5gb. I am new to Macs- is there a utility built into OSX 10.4.9 or hopefully some freeware or very-cheap ware... preferably automated. Thank you very much.

No you cannot sync an iPhoto library between two macs. If you do you will corrupt the iPhoto Library file. iPhoto is a consumer level app, and this feature is not supported.
What you can do is share the photos but not the library. Each machine will need to have it's own library file.
The easiest way to do it this is to enable sharing (in the iPhoto Preferences) on both machines (one sharing the library, the other looking for the share). When you do this the shared library will appear in the Source (or left-hand) pane and pics can be dragged from that to the library in the other machine.

  • Can't sync iphoto with iphone or ipad

I have had to create a photos folder to upload my photos to upload to iphone and ipad, if I try to sync from iphoto I get an unknown error - what can I do to fix it? with my ipad I can't get face or place recognition either

    Greetings,
What is the error message you get?
Remove the iPod Photo Cache folder and try to sync with iPhoto again: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314
If the issue persists try rebuilding your iPhoto Library following this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2638. Use the bottom 3 rebuild options.
    Hope that helps.

  • Can I sync IPhoto albums between two computers via ICloud?

I have some pictures on my MacBook Pro, and some on my desktop.  Other than offloading to a hard drive and trying to duplicate the two drives, is there a way to create albums and have them show up on both computers via the cloud??

  • Can I sync Iphoto library automatically?

Im pretty new to apple, so forgive me if this is a stupid question........
I have a photo library on an external hard drive on my network. I have two laptops that access it, 1 is vista with photoshop, and the other is a macbook pro with iphoto 09. Ideally I would like to import my photos directly to the network drive, then have each laptop update on start up. Can I set that up in Iphoto somehow? So when I open Iphoto it checks for changes to the directory I point it to?
    Thanks for the help

    Um, sort of.
Buut you need to clarify terms:
have a photo library on an external hard drive on my network.
This is a Library of Photos, yes? Not an +iPhoto Library+ ?
    If so,
Can I set that up in Iphoto somehow? So when I open Iphoto it checks for changes to the directory I point it to?
No, but you can do it the other way round: use an app like Hazel, or AppleScripts and Folder Actions to Watch that directory, and to update the iPhoto Library when that directory changes.

  • Can't sync iphoto folders to iphone

    hi all -
macbook running 10.6.8, using iphoto 8.1.2, fully updated itunes on the macbook, and fully updated iphone 4.
trying to sync specific folders from iphoto on the macbook back onto the iphone. currently, the CONTENTS of the three folders (46 photos total) in iphoto show up in the iphone's photo library, AND the three folders show up on the phone, but the folders are empty.
ALSO trying to figure out how to set it so that when i plug in the iphone to the macbook, ALL photos are automatically imported to iphoto and deleted from the iphone, and then the three folders on the macbook are sync'd back onto the iphone.
any help is appreciated. this isn't an issue with my son's (my tech support) iphone 4 and his older version of iphoto, on his older laptop.
    thanks.

  • When you can't sync iphoto with your iphone

When itunes gives you an error while trying to sync your pix from iphoto just go into the iphoto library and delate the folder named "iPod Photo Cache".
When you rename an album in iphoto, since the cache file doesnt change, you end up having a mismatch which messes up itunes' mind, therefore just delate that folder (it will automatically recreate with new titles once you sync your iphone again) and everything is going to be alright!

Okay, I solved my problem. Not obvious or easy, but here's what I did. (I'm cutting and pasting the instructions I found that I followed, along with additional clarification from me below):
I went to my iPhoto library in the Finder. There's a file named AlbumData.xml. If you double click it, it should open in Safari. When I opened mine, at the top it said that it was displaying everything up to line so-and-so where there was an error. Good! Now I'm on to something. Next, I used the Find function in Safari to search for "AlbumName". The last "AlbumName" it found was just before the end of the file, so I went back to the next to last "AlbumName" and made note of the album name immediately after it. Then, I opened iPhoto, found the corresponding album in iPhoto to the next to last album name in the AlbumData.xml. Then I changed the name of the album immediately after it (which should have been the last album name in the AlbumData.xml file, but was not displayed because there was an error). Closed iPhoto, opened iTunes, everything works!
Additional clarification: You'll note that when you open the xml file in Safari (drag and drop - and I had two files, oddly, I used the one without a number 2) it says at the top "BELOW IS A RENDERING OF THE PAGE UP TO THE FIRST ERROR". Scanning into the final lines I noticed that a slideshow was what the instructions seemed to be about - a "12 months" sort of deal. I deleted that slideshow from my iPhoto, and voila, all restored when I synced my iPhone with iTunes.
The point is, whatever is at the end of the safari presentation of the xml file is what you should focus on....

  • Can I sync iphoto with icloud?

This must be a very common question but I don't want to use google to store photos. I would like to have them synced everywhere - from my iphoto library on my mac to iCloud, from my iod device to both icloud and iphoto on my mac.....
Is this possible and is there a way of removing duplicate photos??
I'd be very grateful for any advice.
    Thank you.
    Simon (from the UK)

    Hello Simon,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
The option to store your photos in iCloud is called iCloud Photo Library, currently in beta.  If you'd like to learn more about iCloud Photo Library beta, please take a look at the information in the link below.

  • Can I sync iphoto library on two MacBooks?

I didn't find an answer in the community.
I don't want to move an library and I don't want 2 people accessing the same library...
My sister got my old MacBookPro with our iphoto library.
I have a new Air and the same iphoto library.
But of course now we start to import diffenrent new photos in what was once one single library.
How can I still synchronize these two macs?
Once a month is enough, it doesn't have to be some cloud thing.
Can it be done with a cable or our home-wifi?
It would also be ok, if I import all new photos on the air and then copy the whole library once a month to the Pro, but this seems rather ... pedestrian?
    Thanks!

That's the way to go, but it doesn't have to be pedstrian.
What you're doing there is the same as backing up the Air to the Pro. To make a lot faster use an app that does incremental back ups. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate

  • Can't sync with iCloud and iphoto

i have an iphone 4, fully updated with ios5 at its newest update whatever that is.
i just backed up my whole iphone to the cloud and then reset the whole phone and restored it from the cloud. so now everythign on my phone is from the cloud. i even bought itunes match.
my one problem is, now i can't sync iphoto with my phone. i usually like to have my iphone have my last 20 events from iphoto, but now that my whole phone is on the cloud, when i connect it to my computer, it starts to sync from itunes instead of icloud, and then changes everything.
i connected my phone to the computer and itunes popped up and it started syncing everything from itunes and replacing everything. so i had to stop it, and restore my whole phone again
it's so complicated. i just want to have my phone sync with the cloud, but i also want iphoto to sync with my phone, but it seems i can only do that through itunes, which i can't sync with itunes if i'm syncing with the icloud

    Brad...
now i can't sync iphoto with my phone
    You can sync from iPhoto.
    Tap Settings > iCloud
Make sure Photo Stream is switched on.
when i connect it to my computer, it starts to sync from itunes instead of icloud, and then changes everything.
Once you have iCloud setup, there's no need to connect your iPhone to a computer and sync media using iTunes. Everything is synced via a W-Fi network.
