Can't sync items in iTunes library with iPod Touch

I've purchased items from the iTunes store, but have been able to transfer them to my iPod Touch. Whenever I try I get a message that says that 2 of my items could not sync. How do I get these items onto my iPod Touch?

That's because those items were purchased with other accounts.

Can I sync the same iTunes library on both my iMac and my MacBook Pro?  I've been connecting my iPhone to each and it's causing problems for me with them being different, despite my purchases always being under the same Apple ID.

The easy way to do this is to keep the library on an external drive which you can plug into either computer.  Of course this isn't always the desirable solution.  You can try routinely copying the library from computer to computer though this gets tiresome.

  • Replacing iTunes library with iPod library?

replacing iTunes library with iPod library?
Can anyone tell me how I can replace my entire iTunes music library with my iPod music?

The transfer of purchased content to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7, look under under File>"Transfer Purchases from iPod". A paragraph on it has been added to this article: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
The transfer of non iTMS content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there's a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to your Mac at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
If you prefer something more automated there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others as well, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    iPodRip Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
    iPod.iTunes Mac Only
    PodView Mac Only

    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    PodUtil Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac & Windows
If your library is currently empty and your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting to iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. For the duration of the transfer change your update setting to manual so you can use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it: iTunes Keyboard Shortcuts for OSX
Whichever of these transfer methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.

  • I can't sync a TV show to my ipod touch

I can't sync a tv show to my ipod touch. I checked all the settings, and tried to manually drag the show to my ipod but still nothing. A message box keeps popping up saying," "Magic Bullet" was not copied to the ipod "Bee's" because it cannot by played on this iPod."  Any help is appreciated.

This is what it says. You don't have to convert it.
All HD purchases from the iTunes Store also include an iPod/iPhone-compatible Standard Definition version to accompany the HD version. When syncing an HD purchase from the iTunes Store, iTunes will automatically sync the SD video for devices that require SD content.
If this doesn't work, I don't know what the problem is. You could try deleting from iTunes and re-downloading the item from the store. (in iTunes: STORE > Purchased > Download Previous Purchases.)

  • I can't get my iPad to bring up my iTunes library. my iPod touch shows my whole library. I also download my  purchases from iTunes, but where is my whole library? I have backed up to iCloud... Or so I think.

I can't get my whole iTunes library to show up on my iPad. It does show up on my iPod touch. I have backed it up to i cloud as best I know how.
I can get my past purchases to show, but not playlists or CD's previously loaded.

Actually when you have created an ad hoc network using Internet Sharing your Mac is supposed to have a self-assigned IP.
What I suggest that you do is turn everything off on the Mac and tell the iPad to forget the Internet Sharing network, then restart the Mac and the iPad. Next slowly restart Internet Sharing on the Mac and when that is set up corectly try to connect to the network from scratch with the iPad. If you password protect your Internet Sharing network I suggest that you use the Other... option on the iPad; enter the network's name, select the correct protection scheme and finally enter the password and Join.
This issue should have nothing to do with your modem or router, this is all Mac and iPad.

  • Can I sync my entire iTunes library to an iPad *without* transferring the music?

Is there any way to sync (or transfer) the iTunes library from my iMac to my iPad without copying over all the music files?  I'd like to have access to the artists, albums and song titles for my entire collection on my iPad, so that I can tell at a glance what I do and don't have when buying new CDs in a music store.  With thousands of CDs and 62,000 songs in my collection, it becomes difficult to keep all that data in my head.
I'd like to use the iTunes capabilities of the iPad to see my entire collection, with perhaps some sync-able subset of all those titles actually present on the device available for me to play.
I know a lot of this will eventually change, to some degree, with iCloud, but I imagine others with extensive music collections have encountered similar problems in the past.
    Thanks!

If your iPod is set to sync automatically with iTunes you need to take care connecting to an empty library. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content only from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide

  • How can I use a newer itunes library with an older version of itunes on a different computer?

Hi there. We are running iTunes 10 on our (1.5-year-old) iMacs with the entire music library there.
I also have an old iMac G4 (for those of you who remember what that is :-) sitting in the living room that we use for watching DVDs and listening to music. The G4 is running iTunes 9, as it obviously is stuck with OX Tiger. I've last updated the music library on that machine probably about a year ago at which stage it still worked (by copying the library across from the other computer).
Now it doesn't work anymore. If I copy iTunes library over, I get an error message saying 'this library was created with a newer version of iTunes'. So that's no good. So what can I do without having to re-purchase and re-import music and re-set up playlistst etc? Surely that must be possible, they cannot just forbid me to use my own music that I've even purchased through iTunes? Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Felicity.

In the iTunes folder on the G5...
    Delete the file iTunes library.itl.
Move the iTunes library.xml (or iTunes Music library.xml) to the desktop.
    Start iTunes.
iTunes menu File > Library > Import playlist and select the iTunes library.xml you moved to the desktop.
You can then delete the file on the desktop.

  • How can I use an existing iTunes library with a new iTunes account

My daughter is going to college, and wants to untangle herself from the family iTunes account. Right now, we have three iPods with libraries on three computers, all using my iTunes account - and have had no problems.
She has signed up for a new account, but her previously purchased songs (on my account) won't play on her computer (new computer, iTunes is currently almost empty library), because it is authorized to HER iTunes account.
What is the best way to import her iTunes library that was created using my account onto her new computer? (Old library is on a PC, she now has an iBook, purchased used on eBay.) Is there any way to get these songs to play using her new account info? Can I maybe copy them somewhere without the metadata and then move them into her library? I realize that would lose ratings and other info, but would it get rid of the block? I'm not trying to do anything dishonest - these are personal iPods, personal computers, all within one family, we've paid for all music on them.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated!
(I posted this in the iTouch discussion, and then thought it wuold be better answered over here.)

Then can her computer be authorized to both accounts?
Absolutely. You can authorize any given computer to up to five iTunes Store accounts.
If purchases are made on her account, to a computer authorized to my account, can I put those songs on my iPod?
If you connect your iPod to her computer, yes. Tracks download only to the computer from which they're purchased, regardless of which iTunes Store account is used for the purchase. Or you could copy the tracks from her computer to yours and then authorize your computer to her iTunes Store account. But that's sort of defeating the original purpose, it would seem to me.
is it better to buy music through Amazon downloads and/or actually purchasing CDs to avoid the security features iTunes puts on its music?
That's certainly an option. If it's an entire album I want, I buy CDs. That way I can import them at the quality I want and to whichever of my systems I want. Amazon or one of the other download stores that offer tracks as MP3 are also an option, though for me download stores are best when you just want a couple of tracks off a given CD.

  • Can AppleTV sync to an itunes library without any computers being on?

I want the AppleTV, but does a computer running itunes have to be turned on in order for it to run?
My iTunes library is on a shared drive using my airport extreme N. My computer connects to it as a share. Can the appletv do the same, or does a computer have to be turned on with itunes running? Thanks.

Even though the appletv can theoretically access the itunes library on the airport disk? Kinda odd...

  • Can't sync music library with iPod Touch

I gave my iPod to my son. He erased my music library and put his on. He gave iPod back. I erased all his music and tried to reload my music library. I updated iTunes from Apple website. Could not successfully transfer ANY music.
I searched through discussions and found some suggestions. I restored iPod to original settings, removed everything.
Apps I originally had on the iPod and some new ones synced beautifully. Music library would not. Unclicked manually managed iTunes. Unclicked Sync all iTunes in library. Clicked APPLY where applicable. Uninstalled iTunes on PC and reinstalled. iTunes will not sync.
I cannot put a checkmark on all songs in the library. The checkmarks will only go so far down and then quit. There are too many to do that manually.
it has 59.42 GB capacity, 4.3.1 software version.
So what do I do to syn my music library? And what are the exclamation marks appearing to the left of the column for check marks? Sometimes they appear and sometimes not.
I would appreciate any help you can give me. I am at my wit's end. Thank you.

For anyone who might read my post and have the same problem, the above link, second option to try work like a charm. I have my music back. I had to go looking for it and clicking on one of the pieces to play it in iTunes worked. Not all the music was located right away but it was still findable.

  • Help!  Can't sync due to itunes says my ipod is already synced with another

I deleted and reinstalled i-tunes. Now, when I try to sync, it says my i-pod is synced with another computer. How do I get it to recognize this as the only computer that it is synced with?

Assuming that everything on the iPod is still in your iTunes library, just go ahead and let it re-sync the iPod and now it will be associated with the new library.
Is there anything on the iPod that you do not have safely stored on your computer?

  • How Can I Sync To Another iTunes Library

We upgraded my manager's iPhone to iOS5...we had to do it from my PC because his iTunes install, even after a reinstall, doesn't want to sync his phone...it gets stuck on backing up 2 of 8. Suffice to say, he can't sync his music. We took it to my PC and tried to sync his music and it said something to the fact that his phone couldn't sync between two libraries and it was going to erase and then re-sync his iPhone. We do NOT want to do this but we do want his music back on the phone.
    Suggestions?

    Any suggestions at all?

  • When I try to transfer songs from itunes library to ipod touch it says sync in progress but songs are not on my ipod touch?

When I  transfer music from itunes library to my ipod touch, it says sync in progress on ipod touch, however, the songs don't show up on ipod touch. • Can't transfer movie from itunes library onto ipod

I recently downloaded a movie from itunes onto my laptop. When I tried to manually drag the movie from the library to my ipod i got the following message" The ipod is currently linked to another itunes library. In order to copy the movie to this ipod, you must link this ipod with this itunes library. Doing this will remove 24 tv shows from this ipod. How can I get the movie onto my ipod without erasing the tv shows?

Make sure "Manually manage Music and videos" box is checked under Summary tab.
If the box is already checked and you are still not able to drag it over, highlight the video in movie library and go to iTunes menu ADVANCED and select "Create iPod or iPhone version".  Drag the newly created version over.
