Can't sync itunes on my laptop with my iphone

I have a ihone 4 running IOS 5.0.1 not happy that I can no longer use the blue tooth in my car but that is another story. when I plug my iphone into the laptop and hit the sync button. It says it is syncing but doesnot transfer any of my music that I wa susing on my ipod before I had a iphone, onto my Iphone. what is the deal here? Am i missing some simple settingI ned to adust?

Check windows update for updates. Check with the manufacturer of your machine for driver and device updates. Consider upgrading to Windows 7. Completely remove iTunes and All Apple software and re-install. Try disabling your antivirus software, etc.
This is really beyond the scope of this forum. Maybe someone in the iTunes forum can point you in the right direction, or maybe a Windows Vista forum.

I guess there are a few ways to do this. I make my iMac the "home" for calendar and contact info. I make sure it is current and accurate. I sync my iPhone and my iPad2 to it frequently. If I enter new calendar data on the iPhone or iPad when I get home I sync them to the iMac to be sure it is current.
We use BusyCal at home so all our Mac's are automatically synced to one another and we sync our mobile devices to the computers. So I sync my iPhone and iPad to the iMac and all of them have the same information.
We do not use Mobile Me or another other web based service for calendar syncing since we feel that give us less control and more complexity.

Once you get a complete iTunes folder on the external drive, start iTunes with the option/alt key held down and select the iTunes Library.itl file on the external drive. You will also need to do this with your main computer or the libraries will become unsynchronized.
Alternatively you can make a separate library using the same media on the second computer. Start as you have been doing, let iTunes create a new, blank library file which will be on hte internal drive, set the media folder location in preferences to be the one on the external drive, then add the files to the new iTunes library. Unless you are a super-organized individual, or you don't care if your libraries do not have the same content, you are better off using a single library file that is on the external, not setting up separate library files.

It's not clear initially which is the fundamental error here. But based on the fact that the 8007371b can be fixed by the System Update Readiness Tool, we might try a manual install of that first. There's information on how to do that in the *Information for Advanced Users* section of the following document.

Installing the tool will run the tool.
After the installation of the tool, restart the PC. Then go back to Windows Update, and attempt to stock up again on Windows Updates. Do they download and install correctly? If so, because you might be a reasonable way behind on updates, keep going back to Windows update until it stops offering you new updates.
Once you're stocked up again, restart the PC again, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Can't sync iTunes 11.1.2.32 to iPhone

Hello, I am attempting to sync albums in iTunes 11.1.2.32 to my iPhone 4S iOS 7.0.3. I have 59 total albums in iTunes, but only 21 (305 songs) have synced on the iPhone.
I have tried syncing the entire iTunes (912 songs) and selectively syncing songs (785 songs) to see if they worked, but neither has.
I have also tried completely removing all albums from my iPhone and resyncing in both ways, but both were unsuccessful.
I currently have 7.61 GB free on the phone, so space isn't an issue.
Does anyone know of conflicts or ways to resolve issues between the 2?

Yup, I just tried to transfer some files over to my iPod touch 5gen with iTunes 11.1.2.32 and as far as I can tell, it has just unmapped all the music. After ten minutes of staring at "preparing files", I clicked the cancel button and was rewarded with absolutely no playable music I strongly suspect this is related to the latest iTunes version. How this ever got released for public download without testing is beyond me. Rebooting my ipod has only applied the problem to every single song on the machine. Apple seems to be having a lot of problems with this, so of course they have said nothing about it and let people stumble into it, it seems. Hopefully this will be resolved soon but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.
EDIT: I just tried running a backup on the ipod, and it now seems to be synching all my music back. I'll let you know if it works.

Just got an iphone today. Never used one before. Always only had droids. Looked online for how to sync google contacts with iphone, but the instructions I found didn't work for me. They said to go to itunes and select my phone from 'the list.' I see no list. I clicked on everything I saw but couldn't find any way to sync with google contacts. Any suggestions is appreciated.
P.S. All I need to do is bring my google contacts to the iphone. I don't have any iphone contacts yet so I don't need to combine them.

I think they were repyling to Ducman's suggestion, not the Google article suggestion (BTW, that article from Google is no longer needed under iOS 7, just using the standard GMail account setup in iOS now syncs your contacts).
Also, syncing contacts through iTunes is no longer possible if you're using Mavericks, in case the OP has a Mac.

I received the iPad a little over a year ago as a gift from my parents. I loved it so much that I purchased the iPhone4S and I was wondering if it were possible to transfer the Apps that I previously purchased on the iPad to my iPhone. If this isn't possible can I ask why not? I don't understand why purchasing something and paying good money for it doesn't make it truly yours to be used on your devices. I want to give the iPad to my little sister and have my parents set up a new account and "refresh" the iPad (if you can even do that) for her but I'm afraid of losing the Apps that I paid good money for just for them to dissappear. I just want to make the iPad something my sister can call her own. Right now it is connected to me and my account so I would like to change this as well if possible. If you want to have the mostly same content on both devices - it probably makes more sense to restore your iPad from the iPhone backup. this will put all of your app settings and email settings onto the iPad and any app data and game saves as well will transfer to the iPad.
You still want to sync the iPad so that all of the apps and photos that are in your iTunes library transfer over to the iPad. Restoring from the backup doesn't restore apps, music, synced photos, movies, books, TV shows and podcasts - you will still need to sync that content to the iPad.
I have pretty much have the same content on my iPad and on my Touch, but I eliminated the Movies and TV shows from the Touch and some apps as well. Remember that iPhone specific apps may run OK on the iPad - they will run in the iPhone smaller screen size and while you can double the size by tapping on the 2X button in the apps, they will be lower resolution because you just doubling the size of the pixels and the apps look kind of crappy on the iPad - they may work - they just look bad.
I do not auto sync at all. Nor does iTunes open automatically when my iDevices are connected. I start iTunes on my own and I select all of the content - piece by piece - app by app and so on - as I go along. Once you get through the initial set up - iTunes remembers each device and it's content for the next time that you sync.
