Can't sync movie purchase to AppleTV (cannot be played)

I purchased several movies this evening from the iTunes Store, including King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters.  When tryingt o sync to my 1st gen AppleTV, all the movies sync except that one, where I get the following error:
I've sent Apple support an e-mail regarding this, but I haven't heard back from them.  Any ideas how I can fix this?

I ended up resolving this by re-downloading the movie.  I don't know what caused the original issue, but that solved it.
For the record, the movie is only available in 720P.

  • Movies purchased on iTunes cannot be played on dvd

I purchased a few movies on iTunes recently, then backed them up to dvd for two reasons, one was for backup and the other was so I could watch the movie on my television using my DVD player. The backup seems to work, because I can play the movie on my computer from the disc (dvd). However, when I put the dvd in the dvd player and press play, I get an error message that the disc cannot be played. Does anyone have any information on what steps need to be taken to play iTunes purchased movies on a DVD player?

    runtheplanet,
iTunes movies are in Quicktime format (H.264), and not playable on DVD payers. DVD content is MPEG 2, and it is multiplexed, where the video and audio are combined in a single data stream that can be read by the DVD player.
In order to play Quicktime content on a DVD, that content must first be transcoded to the MPEG 2 format and multiplexed. The single stream is then burned to the DVD.
Purchased iTunes content, however, is protected against transcoding. In other words, you cannot burn iTunes movies to a standard video DVD. Your only options for watching purchased iTunes movies on your TV are to 1) connect your computer to the TV, then play the content on your computer, or 2) Use an AppleTV.

  • How can I sync my purchased audiobooks between multiple computers?

How can I sync my purchased audiobooks between multiple computers? The new iCloud feature seems to make it possible to sync all my other content (purchased from iTunes) but there is no way/option for audiobooks. Any clues?

Copy them to a disk/hard drive/flash drive/etc, then copy it to the other computer.

Is the manually manage music and videos option still selected from under the iPod's Summary tab?  What happens when you try to drag files over to your iPod Classic?

Yes, if the movie has been downloaded to the iPad, then you can watch it without Wi-Fi.

This means they aren't in Apple-friendly format, that is, MOV, MP4 or M4V. Are they MKV, AVI or WMV files?
There are two things you can do:
    - convert them into MP4's via HandBrake, the best and fastest converter available (see http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/benchmark-excellent-multimedia-converter-handb rake-vs-commercial-apps for why it should be preferred to even commercial titles)
    - use third-party players: It's Playing, AVPlayerHD, GoodPlayer and Buzz Player are generally the best commercial ones and QQPlayerHD / MoliPlayer the best free ones. (See for example http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/free-multimedia-player-moliplayer-ipad-fixed-a nd-enhanced-now-its-recommended and http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/review-brand-new-free-video-player-qqplayerhd for reviews of the latter two apps.)

  • HT2729 itouch 5 will not sync movies purchased from itunes that are in my itunes library.

My new itouch5 will not sync movies purchased from itunes thatsare saved in my itunes library.

    Mike, Hi
Thanks for yoursuggestions. I did see that article, tried correcting the permissions, looked at a few of the other things, but this doesn't make sense. This would only be the second computer that had these purchased songs on them. SO the 5 computer limit should have nothing to do with it.
The weird thing is how the computer tells me that it's not authorized to play the purchased songs and gives me the opportunity to put in either an AOL code or an Apple ID code to authorize this computer to play the song. I do it. I get a message that, congratulations, the computer has been successfully authorized to play the song. But then it simply does not play and when you try to play it it just recycles right back to the original message saying that the computer is not authorized.

    Yes there is.
Go to the iTunes Store on your computer.  Click the "Purchased" link about halfway down on the far right side.  Click the "All" tab on top.  The song is there.  Re-download it.

  • Can digital camera movies (MPEGs) be downloaded to and played on Apple TV?

Can digital camera movies (MPEGs) be downloaded to and played on Apple TV? I know that it can play downloaded "real" movies, but what about movies made on digital cameras

Some cameras will record in mpeg4, however they may have unsupported audio formats or otherwise not fit the specifications required for the tv. In essence some cameras may produce video that will play directly on the tv.
If your files are mpeg4 and won't play, itunes will most likely convert them to the correct format (advanced/convert for Apple TV), if they are mpeg1, mpegstreamclip will convert them for you. If your files are mpeg2, mpegstreamclip will still do the job but you will need to install the Quicktime mpeg2 playback component ($20)

  • HT4352 how can I move a movie purchased on AppleTV 2nd Gen to my Mac computer

I am using an AppleTV 2nd Gen, and I purchased Skyfall and wish to move it to my Mac to watch.  How can I do this.  I have Home Sharing on correctly, however the AppleTV2 does not show on the iTunes sidebar and I do not see the movie in my purchased content.  Any ideas?

    Welcome to the Apple Community..
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

  • Cannot sync music purchased on AppleTV to iTunes with 2.0.2

Prior to 2.0.2, music purchased through AppleTV would sync just fine with iTunes (Windows XP). Now, music purchased through AppleTV after I updated to 2.0.2 does not sync with iTunes, nor does it show up in the "Purchased on AppleTV" list in iTunes. Interestingly enough, an interactive booklet associated with one of the albums synced just fine while the music did not.
I've authorized, deauthorized, logged out, logged in, updated iTunes, pretty much everything I can think of. I'm using a wired network and have disabled all firewalls. The purchased music lists and plays just fine through AppleTV.
Not sure if this is related to the other recent sync problems I've read here. Any ideas?
    -Ben

The lack of an ability to browse AppleTV files and drag and drop into a folder/iTunes or wherever would be so handy in situations like this. If you have a technical issue like this and things won't transfer 'automatically' theer would seem to be no way to pull them over manually.
A couple of weeks ago I came home to find all my synced material and direct AppleTV purchases deleted from AppleTV - I had done nothing to cause this and the box was empty of media - fortunately the purchass had synced back the night before automatically, but had they not done so I would have lost them.
I haven't bought anything via AppleTV since. It's fine to purchase via iTunes but defeats the point of Take 2 user interface, and you couldn't rent HD via iTunes either.
I would send some feedback to Apple about this occurrence as it is not a good user experience that makes you trust AppleTV's purchasing and reverse syncing to iTunes. How on earth are you supposed to listen to purchasdes on an ipod/PC/Mac/iPhone if they're stuck on the AppleTV?

  • Can't sync movies, can't find answers, can't stop cursing

I just bought two movies from ITMS for a long plane ride.
At first, I couldn't see them in iTunes (they just said, "UNAVAILABLE"). I upgraded to the most recent versions of everything, I authorized and de-authorized and re-authorized, and now I'm able to play them on my computer.
If I can figure out how to get my G5 and my Cinema Display onto the plane, I'm all set. However I was planning on taking my iPod, and therein lies the problem.
I cannot move these movies onto the iPod.
At first, I was getting a prompt that said something along the lines of "movie is in the wrong format", but these are iTunes movies, so how can that be? Now I don't get any message at all.
When I drag them to the device in iTunes, I don't get an "add sign". I get nothing. When I try to sync using the iTunes iPod sync menu, it just says, "Sync complete".
I wrote to Apple Support and got this reply:
+Videos purchased from the iTunes Store cannot be played on iPod models earlier than the Fifth Generation iPod (iPod with video).+
But I don't have an iPod earlier than a Fifth Generation. I have a Fifth Generation. So by that wording, shouldn't I be able to watch movies on this iPod?
Besides, I've purchased and successfully watched music videos and TV shows on this iPod many times. So... +what's going wrong?+
If you have any ideas, I'd really be grateful.

I'm having the same problem. Ever since updating my 60gb video ipod to firmware 1.2.3 I can no longer sync any of my video podcasts. They are all downloaded from the itunes store, but will no longer sync to my ipod. I just looked and they are .m4v files. They all sync'd fine prior to the update. Now I have to sit in front of the damned computer to watch them.

  • Can't sync movies to iPad; can't share movies on network

On the iPad (with retina display), when trying to watch movies shared from iTunes, after selecting the shared library, the circle spins for a while until failing with "Unable to turn on Home Sharing".  This started happening a lot recently, but I figured it wasn't that bad....I can just sync a few movies to the iPad, no problem, right? WRONG!!!!  I cannot sync movies to the iPad either.  iTunes just acts like it is doing something, then after a while it just stops acting like it's doing anything.  The movies never sync.  Also, if I deselct movies that are already there, they still do NOT get removed from the iPad.
You might ask how I got the movies there in the first place.  This happened once already and I reset the iPad.  I was able to watch one movie in my shared library before getting the "Unable to turn on Home Sharing", and I was able to sync 4 movies.  That was it though, and all attempts to watch shared movies or to sync movies now fail.  Funny thing is that when I reset the iPad I lost a lot of custom settings.  I only got movies on it for a day biut I've been configuring my erased settings for a week.  I have reset my account info for home sharing in the iPad multiple times.  I have reset the iPad.  As I said, resetting worked for a day or two.
    Any ideas?
    Gary

  • I can't sync my purchased ringtones on my iPhone 4 since upgrading to iOS 5 5

I can't sync ringtones that I purchased before I upgraded to ios 5! I see them on iTunes but they won't sync on my phone please help me! I don't want to have to repurchase them, doesn't seem fair, thank you!

You can try putting the iPod into Recovery Mode and restoring it:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If that doesn't work, then sorry but the jailbreak may have permanently corrupted your iPod. Since we cannot help with jailbroken devices in these forums, you'll need to look elsewhere for additional suggestions and advice.

  • Can't sync movie from iPhone to without losing all my songs

I recently bought a 1GB movie directly to my iPhone and I want to back it up on my computer. I have "manage movies and songs manually" checked on the summary page, but when I try to drag the movie over it doesn't take. When I click the sync movies option I get a warning that I'm going to lose all my songs, which I don't want to do. Can someone tell me how to get this huge file off my phone so I can use that space for other files and purchases?

    have you tried this ?
connect your device and right-click or control-click your iPod in the iTunes Source list, then choose +transfer purchases+ from the shortcut menu that appears.
