Can't sync Palm Zire

I am trying to sync my Palm Zire 31 with iSync. I have the 'Apple' conduit installed properly and I have enabled it using Hotsync Manager. When I start iSync and hit the sync icon on the Palm, a sync process starts, but the symbol for the Palm never shows up on the iSync window and the sync times out and fails. I was able to sync with this device before using the Palm conduits and Palm desktop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Frank

It seems that the iSync conduit is found and loaded, but it fails to work. I don't know how to remedy this. Reinstall the conduit? - but where can I find a copy of it? I tried deleting the plist you referred to, but iSync will still not show the Palm after I 'enable Palm syncing' in iSync and enable 'iSync for this Palm' device in HotSync. I did an OS X repair-cleanup (Applejack) before this last attempt.

Please review the "stickied" threads near the top of this board, about syncing with Windows 7 and Vista.  It's all there.
After you've been through and tried everything there is to try, and still have problems, please post back with specific info about exactly what you've tried, what version of Windows 7 you have (32-bit or 64-bit), etc.

  • Can't sync calendar - Zire 72s

    Hi
I've reinstalled the operational system (Windows XP Professional) in my computer and since then I've been trying to synchronize my palm (Zire 72s).
I'm using the palm desktop 4.1.4 and when I try to sync, it starts ok, running until the calendar. Then the operation remains here, apparently synchronizing, but doesn't go ahead. More than once I waited hours and nothing happened.
I've even tried to uninstall, doing the clean of the old registry as indicated at a forum's post, and reinstalled the previous version of the Palm desktop (at the CD). Then I  brought the old data which I had a back up. The calendar's data which came from the backup file appeared at the desk top. After that I tried again to synchronize and the same happened.
I changed the sync's configuration and just the calendar doesn't sync. I even tried the option "handheld overwrite desktop" just for the calendar data, but it doesn't work as well.
It seems that the problem is with the calendar. Can you help me please?
    Thanks in advance

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Most likely a corruption of the records on the device itself.
Try installing DBFixit from pimlicosoftware.com.  The free trial will search and report on errors found in the Calendar.  It will fix some for free, but others may require purchasing the program.
Your other option is to Hard Reset the device, and start over again cleanly.

  • Calendar Sync, Palm Zire 31 and Mac OS 10.4.6

We just purchased several Palm Zire 31 handhelds because that model is one on Oracle's list as "certified" to work with Calendar Sync. However, I cannot seem to get it to sync properly to Oracle Calendar. Prior to installing Calendar Sync it synced to my Palm Desktop data just fine. Please point me in the right direction.
Here are all the versions and hardware:
Powerbook G4 running Mac OS 10.4.6
Palm Zire 31 running Palm OS 5.2.8
    Palm Desktop software 4.2.1
Oracle Calendar Sync 9.0.4.2.10 (installed on Zire 31)
    Palm HotSync Manager 3.2
    Oracle Calendar (desktop software) 10.1.1.0.2.694

I don't sync a Zire 31, but I do sync a variety of Treos and Tungsten units with 10.4.x. I sync my Events and Tasks with Oracle and my Addresses with the Apple conduit.
Here are the directions I have come up with:
First, make sure you are using the latest Oracle Palm Sync (sounds like you are)
Second, make sure you have the latest iSync Palm conduit (version 3.0.2 under OS 10.4)
open the iSync application, go to the Devices menu, and choose Enable Palm Sync for this device
Click on the device name. Make sure Contacts is checked, but NOT Calendars
    Quit iSync
Open Palm Desktop -> HotSync -> Conduit Settings
choose iSync Conduit and click Conduit Settings. Check the box to enable Palm Sync for device
Open MacintoshHD -> Library -> Application Support -> Palm Hotsync
    move Apple into Conduits folder
move Oracle Calendar Address Conduit into Disabled Conduits folder
HotSync, and you should be good to go.

    Look here for the "switch":
    Start Button/All Programs/Palm/PIM Conduit Switch/Sync with Outlook.
If you don't have this entry, then you may need to run your installation disk again and look for the step that asks you which program to sync to...

  • Can you sync Palm Desktop addresses to Address book?

I stopped using my Palm pilot long ago, but i still use the Palm Desktop application for the contacts and addresses. Is there a way to sync these addresses from Palm Desktop to Mac Address Book?
Ultimately, i'd like to transfer everything to Address Book in order to sync with a new Pearl blackberry phone.

    No, not explicitly.
You can typically export Palm contact data from the Palm Desktop as a vCard file and import it into the Address Book, and you can export Palm event data as a vCal file for import into iCal.
Palm task data cannot be exported into a form suitable for import into iCal, and there is no freestanding application into which you can import Palm memos.

  • Problems syncing Palm Zire

    Hi,
We have a Palm m500 (mine) and a Zire (my other half's).  I downloaded appropriate software for our Mac and was under the impression that it covered both devices.  I have had no difficulties syncing my device, but tonight, when my other half tried to sync his, the computer recognized that it was him, went VERY slowly through the process of syncing and absolutely nothing showed up in his file.  It was all still in the Palm, but the Mac file was empty.  Do we need different software?  Are we just missing something in the set up?  He has no other place to sync his Zire and we could really use some help.  Any suggestions?
    Many thanks!

I dont know what happen but i cant transfer information from my USB in the laptop to the palm, i cant make the connection of hotsync. I download the software palm but when i put the botton of hotsync cant download, somebody help me please.

  • Can't sync Palm Centro and Outlook 2007/Windows 7 - please help!

    Hello,
I've never posted on a forum, but I'm at my wits end...!  I've been trying to get my Palm Centro to sync Contacts/Calendar/Memos to Outlook 2007 on my new laptop for a week now with no success.  It used to sync just fine to my old computer with Windows XP and Outlook 2003.  Then that computer crashed (my Outlook files were backed up on an external harddrive).  I received my new computer with Windows 7 XP (32-bit) and Outlook 2007.  I've downloaded the Palm Desktop 6.2, Windows 2007 Conduit, and Software Update 1.03 (Windows installer) for Centro for Verizon.
When I sync my phone to my new Outlook, it completes all 12 steps, but does not load Contacts/Calendar/Memos to Outlook.  This is a list of the error messages:

Can someone please help me transfer Contacts/Calendar/Memos from my Palm Centro to my computer's Outlook 2007?
I've ready about 3rd party software in posts (Pocket Mirror), but I don't know if it applies here because the Contact/Calendar/Memo information is in my Centro - not in Outlook.  I need to get it from my Centro to Outlook 2007.

Sorry hat, the Centro has absolutely nothing in common with a webOS device!  It runs PalmOS.  Nice of you to reply with your suggestion though!
@SyncHelpPlease:  OLERR errors are covered in this Palm KB article:

Something I noticed in your post - you installed Palm 6.2.2 AND the 2007 conduit.  Palm Desktop 6.2.2. has the 2007 conduits built into it already, and the patch is not needed.  Whether this is the cause of your problems, I'm not sure, but I've fielded several posts of the same issue where the user did the same thing you did!
I'd suggest doing a clean uninstall, and reinstall of Palm Desktop 6.2.2 only.
I admit, I do not use Outlook, nor Win7, so I'm giving you my best guess at a way to solve your problem.  Hopefully, this may lead to a solution!

  • Can't sync palm

i just got a palm pilot z22, and it won't sync. so far, this is what i've done:
    - set /dev/tts/USB1 as the port
    - added user to group tty
    - created 01-palm-udev.rules with:
    KERNEL=="ttyUSB[0-9]*", NAME="tts/USB%n", GROUP="users", MODE="0660"
but nothing. when i try to install user from jpilot, it just hangs with a message in the message area:
    Syncing on device /dev/tts/USB1
    Press the HotSync button now
so i tried syncing without a user, and i get an error telling me i have a null user and i need to install a user.
i tried creating the user manually, and i get this:
    sero@homer:~ $ install-user -p /dev/tts/USB1 -u jeff -i 12345
Please check the permissions on /dev/tts/USB1..
    Possible solution:
    chmod 0666 /dev/tts/USB1
Unable to bind to port: /dev/tts/USB1
Please use --help for more information
    sero@homer:~ $ su
    Password:
    root@homer:/home/sero # chmod 0666 /dev/tts/USB1
    root@homer:/home/sero # exit
    exit
    sero@homer:~ $ install-user -p /dev/tts/USB1 -u jeff -i 12345
    Listening to port: /dev/tts/USB1
Please press the HotSync button now... Connected
Error read system info on /dev/tts/USB1
    i'm stuck. :?:
    >>edit: more info, kind of strange behavior, but seems to work as root:
first, pilot-xfer -l works, but only when i specify the port as -p /dev/tts/USB1. otherwise, it says it's defaulting to /dev/pilot, and it doesn't work.
so i tried the same thing with install-user, and this time it *doesn't* work if i specify the port. i have to leave the port off, then it says it's defaulting to /dev/pilot, and it *does* work. weird.  :? (all that is as root, btw.)
so i thought maybe if i change /dev/tts/USB1 to /dev/pilot in jpilot that would work for the user, but i still get the errors. then i launched jpilot as root, and it did sync, but i got a couple of errors:
    'PC ID is 0.
I generated a new PC ID.  It is 1724112290
sync_categories: Unable to open file: Memo32DB
slow_sync_application: Unable to open file: Keys-Gtkr
i don't really like the idea of having to be root to sync, though i'll do it if i have to. but i'd really like to know which permissions are screwed up/how to fix. they all seem okay to me, unless the udev rule is wrong (shouldn't it be x7xx so user can execute?)
    root@homer:~ # ll /dev/pilot
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 2006-10-17 16:19 /dev/pilot -> tts/USB1
    root@homer:~ # ll /dev/tts/USB1
    crw-rw---- 1 root tty 188, 1 2006-10-17 16:19 /dev/tts/USB1
    root@homer:~ # cat /etc/group |grep tty
    tty:x:5:sero
    Syncing on device /dev/tts/USB1
    Press the HotSync button now
    pi_bind error: /dev/tts/USB1 Permission denied
Check your serial port and settings
    Exiting with status SYNC_ERROR_BIND
    Finished

i'm pretty sure the correct dev on my system is /dev/tts/USB1, because that's what works as root. the problem is getting it to work as the user, and i am out of ideas for that. i'm going to try what you posted when i get home, see if that works.
so far i have it working on my slackware laptop (no udev) and on a friend's FC5 (the easiest to get working - just plugged it in and it worked  ). i copied the udev rules from FC, but they didn't work on arch, maybe it's a different version. kind of frustrating, since my friend knows next to nothing about linux, and here i am on this supposedly cutting edge system, and it seems like it should be working but it isn't.
    >>fwiw, here's the FC rule if you want to try it:
    KERNEL=="ttyUSB*", SYSFS{product}=="Palm Handheld*", SYMLINK+="pilot", GROUP="uucp", MODE="0660"
    >> edit: SUCCESS!
it turns out the FC rule did work, i just forgot to restart udev that time. i also made a uucp group b/c i had to do that for slack, too, but maybe it would work without it, or with a different group.

  • Can't sync Palm TX with my iMac

Two months ago, I bought my wife a Palm TX, and began trying to get it to communicate with my wife's iMac. I'm still trying.
When I run ISync, it can't find the device. When I run Palm Desktop, it can't find the Addressbook data (greyed out). This should be a simple matter -- she simply wants to have her address book info appear in the Palm, which seems to work in every other way.
I've installed iSync 1.5 and iSync Palm Conduit 1.2, as the Apple Help file suggests. No cigar.
    Anyone have any ideas?

You should reinstall the Palm Desktop version which shipped on CD-ROM with your Palm T|X, a handheld device which is not explicitly supported by the Palm Desktop version 4.2.1 revision D, which you may have downloaded here:
    http://www.palm.com/us/support/macintosh/macdesk421revd.html
After doing that, again attempt to add your device to iSync by selecting the Enable Palm OS Syncing… option under iSync's Devices menu.
If that does not correct the problem, you'll have to consult with Palm Support, as the usual fixes involving the Palm Desktop just do not apply to the T|X and the Z22 handheld organizers.

  • Can't sync Palm with Mac through iSync, only syncs with Palm Desktop

I have an older Palm Tungsten T3 that I use basically only to run a medical application that I need at work (ePocrates, which has its own conduit and auto-updates itself with hotsyncs). I haven't tried to sync it to my Mac for a long time. I use iCal for my calendaring needs, sync it with my iPod, and ignore the old stuff that's on the Palm, which I hardly ever even sync.
Today I had to reinstall the Epocrates software, and decided while I was at it I'd try to get the Palm syncing with the Mac (iCal, contacts, etc) again because it would be nice for it to show the same calendar data.
I reinstalled the newest version of Palm Desktop from scratch. Installed the ePocrates software on top of it. I have iSync 2.4. My Palm was not listed as a device initially. I chose "Enable Palm OS Syncing" from the menu; iSync then went through a series of steps in which it disabled several conduits (presumably to no longer sync with the Palm Desktop), then told me to enable the iSync Palm conduit through the HotSync manager, which I did.
I now show the Palm as a device on iSync, but it has a yellow caution icon over it and I'm not sure why. Clicking on it shows an options dialog. I chose for the first sync I wanted to erase everything on the device and then sync with the Mac. My syncs appear to work, but when the data is checked it seems to sync only with Palm Desktop. The old junky data on the Palm was not erased as requested. Newer calendar events and contacts from my Mac have not made it to the Palm. The ePocrates auto update conduit is working fine but that's the only part that is.
Any idea what's incompatible, or what I'm doing wrong here?

I have The Missing Sync and used it to sync my palm TX. I am now in the process of trying to get iCal going properly again. No longer have any calender views in iCal and the week views don't show until I have opened a month view and then go back to the week view. Very bizzare. Also have a heap of untitled calendar views in the drop down list option when looking at the info on any event - these calendar views are not accessible anywhere else though.
I'm not sure if it is Missing Sync or something I did wrong at present. Will also throw the problem to the Missing Sync people to see what they say. Will let you know. It seemed to work really well without needing the palm desktop!
