Can't Sync Photos To iPod Classic

I have the last white plastic Imac with the latest version of the Mac OS (10.5.7) and with the latest version of iTunes (8.2).
I just recently tried to sync some photos (for the very first time) to the iPod. When I select the folder where the photos are located and tell iTunes to APPLY (sync), I get an error msg. telling me that iTunes CAN'T find the iPod (though the iPod does indeed show up in the left hand column of iTunes under devices); i.e it's saying that it can't find the iPod though it quite obviously DOES recognize it.
I've wasted a lot of time talking with Apple support who haven't been able to help. I find that Apple tech support and AppleCare tech support is inconsistent. I've wasted hours on the phone with them to ultimately get no (correct) help or to suddenly get a dial tone (the connection is dropped on the Apple end) and I have to call back and START ALL OVER AGAIN....going through Apple's funky voice mail system, etc. and then having to re-explain everything AGAIN from square one. A real pain in the ying-yang.
This is perhaps related to another issue that I've had with the iPod since I've had it and NEVER got resolved through Apple and I have just lived w/ the problem since last Oct; see my msg. from some months back that still remains unresolved.
BTW, I had a scheduled call from an "Apple Expert" yesterday who was supposed to have all the details of the problem (I had gone into detail relating the issue to an Apple Tech the day before and was assured that the expert would be fully up-to-speed when he/she called) but when I got the call I found that the tech had NOT been fully briefed as I was told that the person would be so they were unable to help and hence wasted a greater part of my day scheduling around waiting for the call from the "Expert". Phooey!
HELP!
JG

I had the same Problem, very frustrating until you realize what it was. My simple fix was!
On your IPOD go to
Settings
Main Menu
Photos (probably set to off)
Turn ON
Should do it

  • Can't sync photos to iPod Touch

Downloaded 4.3 to my iPod Touch today. I'm running 10.5.8 on my MacBook. Now it won't sync with iPhoto. I keep getting the message, IPod "Touch" cannot be synced. The required file can't be found. I don't know what this means or what file it can't find. Please help!

Planb77, Thank you for your response. I trashed the cache and tried to recreate it. I synced my iPod Classic with no problem. I have 80GB on it and only 32GB on the Touch. I let all my pictures and a movie download to the Classic. I don't want the movie or all, just some, of my pictures on the Touch. The photos will not sync with the Touch at all. Any help will be deeply appreciated!
    PS-Everything else syncs just fine.

  • Can't sync photos with iPod

I'm trying to load some photos in albums from iPhoto onto my iPod and it just isn't working. I click the Photos tab on the iPod screen; choose "Sync photos from iPhoto"; choose "Selected albums"; check the boxes of the albums I want uploaded onto the iPod; then press Sync. The swirling arrows come up next to the iPod name under Devices in the left column for maybe two seconds, then disappear. When I check, there are no photos on my iPod.
I've tried creating a new folder on my desktop, moving the photos into it and syncing from there - it doesn't work.
I'm doing everything right here and it just ain't happening. Can anyone help me?

I've got the same problem. Any help?

Hello!I am having a problem to sync my iPod Classic to my iTunes (on a PowerBook G4). It can detect it although I am getting the following message ''Attempting to copy to hard disk +"Marco's iPod" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to''+. It seems to attempt to contact 3 or 4 times then i get this message. Another point, I have just completed a full "restore" of the iPod through iTunes. So it can see it?

  • ITunes 8.0 problems while syncing photos with iPod Classic 120GB

Hello, last week I bought the new iPod Classic 120GB, I updated iTunes to 8.0. But when I was syncing, everything sync (movies, music, cover arts, etc) except the photos. It appears this message "the iPod "Name's iPod" canot be synced. the required file cannot be found." Those anyone knows how to solve this issue?
When I don't selected to import photo albums, it syncs perfectly.
    Thanx for your help

Oh, I have switched USB ports & cables just to make sure.  I am re-syncing now, but am afraid it will turn out the same and continue to have the same issues.

  • Can't sync Photos to iPod - Unknown Error (-50)

Earlier I was not able to sync my iPhoto library to my iPod via iTunes because I would get the error message "...Unknown Error (-50)".
I have solved my problem, but I thought I would share my experience so Apple can fix the problem and other people can benefit from my work around until the problem is fixed.
The problem seems to stem from iPhoto's AlbumData.xml file getting bad XML syntax. iPhoto can read this bad XML syntax and function, but iTunes can't handle it.
I imported some photos into iPhoto that had some keywords that were entered via Google Picasa. These keywords some how caused iPhoto to put bad syntax in the AlbumData.xml file. To get the XML file correct, I used iPhoto to identify the offending photos and keywords. I think replaced the photo's keywords with keywords I created in iPhoto and deleted the Picasa generated keywords from my iPhoto Library using iPhoto's preferences page.
Ironically, iPhoto worked fine and it was iTunes that could not handle the bad XML file (funny, I thought iTunes would be making API calls to iPhoto and not reading the XML file directly - so much for software reuse).
Hopefully, Apple will fix this problem in future iPhoto and iTune fixes. After all, those darn "Hi, I am Mac..." commercials claim that Apple so is much better then MS. Seems like Apple's software has odors too.
    Just sharing,
    Donald

Donald B:- This fix worked a treat! Thanks.
Gravity Addict:- I was lucky that the problem obviously occurred after my last import so I only had to look at 60 pictures.
In the 'Photos' menu click 'Get Info' to show the Info window with 'Keywords' highlighted. For me it was obvious that I had two keywords associated with these pictures that I had not put in, so just deleted these from the iPhoto preferences. Hope this works for you.

  • Can I sync my old iPod Classic to a new iTunes account (to which I don't have access) without losing my music?wj

I have an old iPod that I haven't used in years with thousands of songs from ripped C.Ds I don't own anymore. I was wondering if there was a way I could sync up my old iPod to a new account without losing my old music so I could put new songs on.
    Any help would be appreciated.

If you are using the same account again, disable autosync in iTunes, set up your account, set up at least one contact and event on your Mac, to be able to merge data during the first sync.
Connect your device, right click on it in the device list and choose "backup". This will back up your device without syncing. Transfer your purchases the same way, to copy all bought media and apps to your new library.
The first sync will erase your device, but you can use the manual created backup to restore your settings and data again.

  • I can't sync my 160gb iPod Classic to my iTunes library

I have a 160gb Classic iPod. My iTunes library has about 100gb of music. My iPod is set to sync my entire music library. When I connect my iPod and press 'Sync' I get the message 'Syncing - step 1 of 1' and then 'iPod sync is complete' - but there is no music on my iPod. I am running Windows 8.1
    Help, please!

Your welcome. You might also want to make sure the Sync only checked songs and videos option is not ticked from under the iPod's Summary tab.
And just to be sure that you aren't getting any error messages, try resetting your iPod's sync warnings. To do this, plug the iPod in, right->click on it under Devices and select Reset Warnings. Then resync the iPod. This should allow previously acknowledged warnings to appear.

  • ILOST MY PHOTOS ON IPOD CLASSIC AFTER I START SYNC THEM ON ITUNNES

ILOST MY PHOTOS ON IPOD CLASSIC AFTER I START SYNC THEM ON ITUNNES AND IT GIVES THIS MASAGE
IT SAYS pHOTOS FOLDER SYNCING HAS BEEN DISABLED FOR T IPOD BECAUSE THE FOLDER " XX" CAN NOT BE FOUND
AND AFTER THAT I DID NOT SEE MY PHOTOS ON IPOD

Is the computer that you allowed the iPod to Sync with the same one that you originally synced with, or a different one?
If it is the same computer, then the photos should still be on the computer. So once again, what happened to the photos folder that was on the computer?
If it is a different computer, then I think iTunes has removed the photos, along with the music.
You can only Sync an iPod with one iTunes Library. If you attempt to Sync with a second computer, iTunes will warn you that everything will be removed from the iPod and only content from the second Library will be on the iPod.

Did you go into iTunes to change the location of your media files? if not you will need to go into iTunes and click on preference and select the advance tab then click the iTunes Media folder location.  Select the location of your on external hard drive.

  • Have iTunes version 10 .3 but do not understand cloud in iTunes 11.03 can someone explain it and also how do you find duplicates in new version and will the new version sync with my iPod Classic which I have had for 4 years

I have iTunes version 10.03 which I love but my iPad Apple mini has iOS 7 but I don't understand the new iTunes what is the cloud shown next to the music and how can I find duplicates can anyone help me navigate the new iTunes and will the new version sync with my iPod Classic which is 4 years old

The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With iTunes 11.0.3 and later you can enable artwork in the Songs view from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view
View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) also contains options to change the sorting of grid based views
The cloud icons give you access to stream or download any qualifying past purchases that you don't currently have downloaded to the library.
Regarding duplicates, things haven't really changed. Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)
Yes, iTunes 11 will support your iPod classic.

  • I am not able to Sync. My iPOD classic 80Gb. It tells that as iTunes can not read the contents-restore to factory settings- after restoring – it tells that it can not be restore bcause there are files that are used by other application. I am having Widows

I am not able to Sync. My iPOD classic 80Gb. It tells that as iTunes can not read the contents-restore to factory settings- after restoring – it tells that it can not be restored bcause there are files that are used by other application. My iPOD appears in My Computer in drive H as a mass storage generick volume

Try disabilng the Enable Disk Use option from under the iPod's Summary tab, applying the changes, and seeing if that helps.
Otherwise, temporarily disabling any antivirus, security, firewall, or file indexing software that may be running on your system and then try restoring your iPod again.

  • Sync multiple devices - iPod Classic won't

My PC recently died and I purchased a MacBook Air.  Over the last couple of weeks I've been working to get all my iTunes items over to the MBA and get things to sync on iTunes, upgrade my device software, and resume normal life...
This has not been as easy as I had hoped, but I have been able to get my iPhone 4 syncing with iTunes and upgraded successfully.  I have about 1300 songs, tons of photos, and many music video files showing in my iTunes library and syncing to my iPhone.  All is good there so far.
I also have a iPod Classic (80GB 2007 model, that's 5th Gen I think) that I have upgraded and attempted to sync, and a iPad 2 that I have not yet connected to my MBA.
The iPod is my current project.  I connected it, and went through syncing to iTunes and the device is now empty.  I have "sync all music" checked and nothing is moving over from iTunes to the iPod.  I have tried syncing individual songs, artists and playlists with no luck.  I even restored the device with no luck syncing it up.
In my iTunes account I see my iPhone 4, iPad 2 and MBA all listed as devices in my Cloud, but of course no iPod classic (what I would expect).
Any ideas how I can solve this sync issue with my iPod classic?  How can I avoid the same problems when I connect my iPad 2 and attempt to upgrade and sync to iTunes?

HELP...I have a similar issue. Worried that my music is up in the cloud and if I try to sync to my iPod Classic I will lose the music on it and be unsuccessful adding new music to it. Can someone help us with this? I use my Classic with old Apple speakers for everyday music in the house. Using all up to date OS software.

  • ITunes 10.6.1 (7) freezes when syncing brand new iPod Classic

In my attempts to sync a brand new iPod Classic (160 GB) with iTunes I only get a freeze up of iTunes, where only a force quit helps to terminate the hang. I have of course done all the usual, i.e. restored the entire iPod Classic, restarted my Mac, made sure all software is the latest software. All to no avail.

Syncing a 160GB iPod Classic, may take a long time, so better to stop all other process or apps, when you do it.
Especially, disconnect all other USB devices and connect the iPod directly to the body of the Mac and not to the Keyboard USB port or any USB hub.
I think you have done all other suggestions, that I can think of.
Except doing a Disk Diagnostic on this new iPod, and send it back to Apple if the DD report is bad, refer to this earlier post by tt2
