Can't sync properly after 4.5 upgrade

I have a Pearl 8100 and just upgraded to v 4.5. I didn't know anything about vendor-specific upgrades and just upgraded directly from Blackberry.com. Now when I try to synchronize (I use Outlook 2003 via Desktop Manager v4.2.0.14) it wants to add all my appointments in from Outlook -- but they're still on my BB. If I complete the sync I'll have duplicates of EVERYTHING. In addition, most (but not all) of the "all day" events on my  BB have become 12:00A - 11:59P events instead of just an all-day entry at the top of the day. I keep cancelling the sync, so I can't even imagine what would happen if I got as far as synching my Address Book.
I looked into updating my Desktop Manager software but I can't backup because I can't sync (though I have backed up my whole Outlook file, so I guess I am backed up). I also looked into uninstalling v4.5, but the directions I found on a different posting said to delete the upgrade from Add/Remove Software and it wasn't in there. I know I'm not an expert in this stuff, but I'm feeling extra lame.
I'm also irritated that some images that came with my Pearl are gone; I used them as background. I've read on other postings that those images aren't in the new software -- but why were they deleted?
What should I do?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

for the images : you can see it otherwise : the images have never been available except for OS 4.2 and OS 4.3. You can search the web, maybe someone will have stored them somehow as images and not as an application.
about backup : it has nothing to do with synchronization.
a backup is a file that contains all data from your device. It cannot be used at all except for a complete restore of databases. You should be able to make a backup.
for the calendar : are all the events in Outlook ? if so, you can wipe the calendar database on your device (using the right panel of the desktop manager) and then do a synchronization from Outlook Calendar.

  • Can't sync audiobooks after IOS 5 upgrade.

After IOS 5 upgrade I am unable to Sync my iphone 4 either by WiFi or connected via USB.
Itunes becomes un responsive after "Determining tracks to sync".  Have been able to sync only after disabling Audiobooks sync.
SO far have done the following.
    - Changed the USB cable
    - Re "Keep Library Origanized"
    - Created new playlist with 1 audiobook.
    Itunes crashes everytime.
Have been able to sync my ipad 2 & nano with no issues.
Anyone have any ideas before I toast my iphone & start from scratch?

Nothing syncs if I have sync audiobooks turned on.
First I didn't know what the problem was and I even wiped my iPhone and started from scrach (what a pain it was).
Nothing. No music, no Apps, no ringtones, no audiobooks.
I installed some apps via the app store, and some audiobooks with audible app.
But the rest still didn't work.
Then I clicked "Tranfer purchases from ...'s iPhone" on iTunes and some of my music and ringtones started to transfer to the iPhone!! Partially. I had to click it again to get the rest of the music and ringtones. But the audiobooks didn't transfer. Not even from a playlist.
After I unchecked Sync Audiobooks, I managed to get some apps transfered to the iPhone but they're still "Waiting" not "Loading." Every time I click on sync a little bit of the apps transfer, but then their status goes back to "loading."
My biggest problem is that I have non Audible audiobooks. These I don't know how to put in the iphone.

  • Can't sync music after 3.0 upgrade - help!

Last night I upgraded to 3.0 on my 1st generatio iPhone. It took forever, and even though I received an error message at one point, and restarted, it worked. The problem is that even though I restored my backup, the music is gone from the phone. I tried synching with iTunes a number of times, get NO error messages and all appears fine. But the iPod function still has NO content. I made sure my playlists were selected to be synched, but still nothing. Anyone ever experience this? Any known fixes?
    thx

Ok, problem solved. An Apple rep advised me to sync my phone without synching the music files, and then after it's done to go back in, and select music to be synched and do it again. This did the trick.

  • I have music loaded from cd's. They were intact after each sync. After a iTune upgrade, I lost all the music at sync. Can I restore them from old backup in iCloud ?

I have music loaded from cd's. They were intact after each sync. After a iTune upgrade, I lost all the music at sync. Can I restore them from old backup in iCloud ?

Unless you'd signed up to iTunes Match then they won't be in the Cloud, only music purchased from iTunes (if you are in a country where music can be re-downloaded) will be there. Have you not still got it on your computer and/or on a backup which you can use to sync it back to the iPad ?

  • Can't sync iPad after iOS upgrade to7.0.2 - repeated authorisation prompt - using admin profile, file SC info does not exist

    Hello,
After I upgraded to iOS 7.0.2 I can't sync iPad mini with PC (on Windows XP). I keep getting the folowing message: "The iPad could not be synced because this computer is no longer authorized for purchase items on this iPad". I tried everything:
    1) De-authorizing and rebooting (about 100 times);
    2) De-installing and reinstalling itunes;
    3) Deactivating the firewall;
    4) Run Diagnostics (result - all works fine including sync);
    5) Tried to look for the "SC info" directory or file everyone is referring to in the Computer (Hidden files) of the iTunes directory - nothing;
    6) Ticking and unticking the |Sync over Wi-Fi" option;
    7) Changing backup from iCloud to this Computer and back.
I am using the admin account on my PC - doesn't help.
I cannot sync anything at all.
BTW - on the PC and on the iPad - everything that is there plays OK. I can get stuff from iStore both from iPad and from the PC - but I can't sync the two.
It looks like an iOS 7 bug to me - any ideas or advice?
    Thanks.
    D.

No I have tried multiple connections, at home, at work, and even at my church but to no avail.  For example I have recently purchased a CD from Itunes using my computer, but my ipad will only play it from the cloud.  I've tried to download straight from my Ipad and that too does not work.  When ever I try to plug the Ipad into the computer a window pops up and says that the sync has failed.  If I try to drag the file to the Ipad it will say it's loading than just quit before it transfers.  hmmm.  I hope they get this bug fixed some.  would really like to have that CD to isten to on the go.   Another issue I am no having is the apps are having trouble updating.  I have tried to turn off auto update and do it manually and that too is failing.

  • Can't Sync ATV after upgrade

One of my kids upgraded my 40GB ATV from 2.1 to 3.0 last night. After the upgrade, ATV does not appear in "devices" in iTunes 8.2.1
I can get the ATV to appear if I turn on streaming, but the only tabs that appear for ATV are Photos and General, no movies and no TV shows.
There's no sync button, and right-clicking the ATV only shows "turn off streaming". When I turn off streaming, the ATV disappears again from the left-hand menu in iTunes.
I have a number of purchased movies on the ATV that I can't sync back to iTunes. Because of the 40GB size limit, some of this content is going to be lost.
How can I get the purchased content from ATV 3.0 back to iTunes 8.2.1?

But the problem is that, all of a sudden, I've lost sync from ATV to iTunes.
Therefore, I have purchased content on ATV with no way to sync it to iTunes. This "just happened" (I mean, it WAS working normally and then it stopped after upgrade to ATV 3.0).
I've upgraded iTunes to 9.0.2. I can set up streaming, and that works. But I don't have the option to turn on sync (for any content).
I'm afraid if I disconnect and reconnect all of my ATV purchased content will be lost.

  • Can't sync iPhone after computer upgrade

I just upgraded my notebook hard drive and started everything on the computer - including my iTunes library - over from scratch. Unfortunately, even though this is the same computer I was using before (albeit with a new hard drive, and upgraded to Leopard), the iPhone doesn't seem to be recognizing it as such: I can't sync or play music through iTunes.
Is there any way, short of wiping the iPhone and all of that jazz, to get the phone working with my computer? This is definitely not the sort of user experience I've come to expect from Apple.

    Brendan,
If you replaced your hard drive, the iPhone is going to think it's connected to a different computer. So in order to sync, it will need to erase the content from your iPhone and re-sync it. If you set up all of your iTunes info (and the other info you normally sync to the iPhone), all you will need to do is sync the information back to your iPhone from the computer.
    Hope this helps,
    Jennifer B.

  • Iphone won't sync properly after iOS4.0.1

    Hi,
I'm writing here after searching the web and Apple and finding no clue on what's going on
I recently updated my iPhone 3GS to iOS4.0.1 and as a prerequisite I had to upgrade Itunes to 9.2.1.5.
After upgrading both my iPhone OS and Itunes I can't sync anymore!
    I can't sync my Contacts/Calendar/Apps/Music/Podcast etc...
    I keep getting errors like:
    1. Duplicate file name
    2. Device timed out
    3. can't write to disk
    4. File can not be found
    Solutions I've tried:
    1. Running Diagnostics via iTunes showed everything is working fine.
    2. Removed Apple USB controller and re-installed.
    3. Made a complete remove of iTunes + QuickTime + Apple software + Apple Mobile and reinstalled iTunes.
    4. Did over 20 Restores!!!
    5. On the Iphone chose to "erase" everything.
    6. on the Info tab, unchecked "Sync Notes".
    7. Removing any of iTunes music folders.
Nothing worked! I have a working phone, which I should be grateful for, but I can't sync my music, podcasts or my NIKE runs. I can't even downgrade back to 3.1.3 because it says Apple won't sign the firmware!
I heard that if I "Jailbreak" my device I can downgrade, but I don't want to void my warranty or harm my device.
    Can someone please help me?

Try turning your security software off - my laptop running Windows7 and Norton 360 was able to download the iTunes upgrade and work with my iPhone and iPad, whereas my Vista laptop with ZoneAlarm has never let me do an iPhone OS update with ZoneAlarm on, so I turn it off for OS updates. No need to turn it off for synchs after a successful OS update. Btw, I still have not been able to update iTunes on the Vista laptop no matter what I do (turn ZoneAlarm off, download only followed by manual installation of update, etc). Hope this helps!

  • Ipod touch passes sync test, but get error message and can't sync properly...can you help?

I get an error message saying I can't sync my iPod touch 4th generation, but when I do the diagnostic test, it says it passes and is working properly?  The place I see it is in the playlists...like they won't transfer from my computer to the iPod...Recently Added, Recently Played...

I tried everything suggested by the link you provided and it did not work.   I had been purchasing music directly from my iPOD for over a year.  I decided to start using my iTunes account and the first time I tried to sync I was prompted to "erase content and sync".  What happened was that the music was deleted from my iPOD and then it has never successfully sync'ed with iTunes.

  • Error trying to sync iPhone after IOS 7 upgrade

Since upgrading to IOS 7 I can no longer sync my iPhone I get this message:
I've tried rebooting both my MacBook Pro and my iPhone and still get the same message.
Has anyone else run into this?  Is there a workaround?

An iPhone can be synced with a single iTunes library only.
When syncing an iPhone with a different iTunes library on the same computer, or with an iTunes library on a different computer, all iTunes content on the iPhone will be erased and replaced with the chosen content from the new or different iTunes library.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296
This is why maintaining a backup of all your important data - including your iTunes library stored on a external drive used for backup purposes only, or stored on some other media is so important.
iTunes includes an option to transfer content purchased from the iTunes Store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for content that was purchased from the iTunes Store only.
Without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.

  • Can't sync music after installing ios7 on ipad mini

How can I sync with my computer? Since I installed ios7 iTunes does not see my ipad

You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • Can't sync IPhone after PC crash/restore

Hi, hopefully someone can help me.
My PC crashed.  I had to take it back to original settings, completely restoring the hard drive.  Once complete, I reinstalled ITunes 11 and restored my data from external backup.
Now I can't sync our IPhones to ITunes because I get an error that my IPhone is associated with another ITunes library.  I'm not sure how to go about solving this issues.
I had contemplated uninstalling ITunes and the library and starting fresh because some of the music stored on the external backup was duplicated when I reinstalled it as some was stored in the ITunes cloud.
Any ideas on how to sync the IPhones would be appreciated.

Do you mean simply trash the iTunes app?
If so, then how do I reinstall it, that is, where do I find the files to do so?  A spotlight search of my iMac didn't show any file with which to do so, and a search on Apple Support discuss Windows systems only.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Can't sync Iphone after update the Itunes 11.1.5.5

Hi Can seem to get Iphone recognised when hooking up to Itunes to synce phone....... any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

Same problem here. I feel like I should know by now not to update iTunes before seeing if there are any issues with the release but I did anyway.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. That didn't work.
I tried doing a System Restore. With the restored version (11.1.3.8 I think it was) I was able to sync using File -> Devices -> Sync but iTunes would crash if I tried navigating to the phone in the Sidebar.
I tried restoring to an even older point but that version gave me an error about missing files and the library being created from a newer version. I tried going back to the later restore but that was no longer working.
I had to install 11.1.5.5. The one that's useless because I can't sync.
    Please fix this, Apple!!!

  • Ipod can not sync photos after iTunes upgrade

I upgraded to iTunes 10.0.1.22 a few days ago. I plugged in my ipod and get the message, "ipod can not be synced. required folder can not be found" and after this message another, "...device cannot be found" I have not deleted or moved any folders.
I have never had trouble with syncing my ipod before. What's different? any suggestions?

if you guys own Aperture, a new update just fixed my issues.
I didn't even think Aperture was an issue since I never selected to sync using aperture. But now my iPhoto options are not grayed out to select partial library options, and the full library sync finally shows my accurate 12.8 gigs of space in the colored device fill bar at the bottom of iTunes sync.
    Issue RESOLVED.

  • I can't sync Calendars after upgrading to 1.2

I've just upgraded my iTunes to version 7 and my 5th Gen iPod to version 1.2.
Before this I could sync the calendar in Outlook quite happily (I always got a warning from my security software first)
Now it says that it is unable to sync the Calendar.
What do I need to change to get this to work ?
      Windows XP

I've had the same problem since upgrading to v. 7 of itunes and a host of other problems have also appeared. My events on the calendar have been wiped out on my iPod and I have been unable to sync to get them back.
On frequently asked questions I found this possible answer which is cut and pasted below. I think we may not be able to synch Outlook anymore because it says to open up and drag, not sync, but other calendars might work. What is going on, Apple? I need a patch soon.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60920#faq27
Question: How do I update my calendar on my iPod?
Answer: iTunes can automatically transfer calendar data stored in iCal to your iPod. To enable syncing of your iCal calendars:
    1. Open iTunes and connect your iPod to your computer.
    2. Select the iPod icon in the source pane of iTunes.
    3. Click the Contacts tab.
    4. Enable the "Sync iCal calendars" checkbox.
iPod also supports industry-standard iCalendar and vCalendar files, which can be exported by many applications including Microsoft Entourage, Microsoft Outlook, and Palm Desktop. iCal also works with the iPod calendar. Simply drag your iCalendar or vCalendar files to your iPod, and you can access your calendar even when you are away from your computer.
