Can't sync recently added playlist

I listen to recently added most of all my playlists, and I currently have the latest iTunes and iPhone 4 software.
The playlist updates fine in my iTunes but not when I sync with my iPhone, it stays as an older version on my iPhone, and when I look at the playlist under my iPhone in iTunes it shows the new playlist..
It transfers over when I turn live updating off and only then...
Really annoying. Any help anyone?

I am having similar problem.
Many of my platlist are sync properly. But I added 3 new smart playlist in addion to some "dumb" playlist. One of the three sync properly, the other two does not sync.

He told you Google for an answer. You will end up having to use iTunes to sync them to the phone anyway. There are a number of websites out there that offer free ringtones, or you can upload a short piece of music to their site and they will convert for you. As mentioned, Google free iPhone ringtones, you will be inundated with sites.

Shuffle Recently Added Playlist (or any playlists!)

How can you shuffle recently added playlist music? I know that you can click the normal shuffle songs option, but if you wanted only to shuffle the recently added music or music on certain playlists and not the whole library on the ipod, how do you do it? Can you do it? Thanks in advance!

I have the same issue with my iPhone 5 (iOS 7.0.4) on a Windows7 PC updated with the very latest iTunes. My other iPode (nano - old and new) sync just fine. Only my phone is affected.
I have one album I purchased from iTunes that won't sync via a plain playlist that I made just for that album. (The song files transferred to my phone as part of the "purchased" category. But I can't sync a playlist made on my computer containing those same songs.)
Another plain playlist I made for some spoken short story files in my library won't sync either.
There are no error message that appear while syncing; nothing stating that songs didn't transfer.
Also, if I try to make a new playlist on my phone and adding the "purchased" files to it, the album cover is wrong. The files will be available in the playlist that way, but with the incorrect artwork. (No idea what happens yet if I re-sync with this phone-make playlist.)

In iTunes i have the smart playlist "recently added". It is sorted by the "last added" field.
The playlist is setup as:
added within last 2 month, mediatype is music, only marked objects, automatic updates.
The playlist shows the correct titles in iTunes.
When the playlist is synced, the "recently added" list, has a random order.
I also found out - by chance - that i added an other playlist with lots of titles recently. They are organized in an own playlist and do not show up in the recently added list in iTunes.
But after the sync the recently added playlist shows the newly copied titles.
It seems like if the iphone does calculate it's own list and the "recently added" playlist is missinterpreted on the iphone as "titles which where recently copied to the iphone". The "date field" is not used for the playlist, only the date the files was copied.
(Hope i described the problem as good as i can and you understand what i mean)
Any suggestions?
The same problem was with ios5 and was fixed in 5.x.x - i don't know the exact version.
Will i again have to wait for apple to fix it within the firmware? Why is this error reoccuring ever firmware update????

Messed up Recently Added playlist syncing!

Since I updated my iPhone 3G to 3.1 and iTunes to 9.0 I've noticed that my Recently Added playlist has not been syncing properly. It hasn't been updated on the iPhone since before I updated the software (iTunes + iPhone) even though I've since added more stuff to my library. The weird thing though is that the content that I've added recently does sync to my iPhone because I can find it if I search the phone but it just doesn't appear in the recently added playlist. The old stuff that does appear in my Recently Added playlist is now also in a mixed up order(not the way it appeared in iTunes).
Another thing I've noticed is that some (although not all) podcasts are also in a mixed up order on the iPhone; not ordered by episode number or date! Scrolling through my podcasts has also become slow and "sticky" if you well; not as smooth as it usually is, same for videos(scrolling through my songs or playlists however, is normal).
Have I missed something in the new syncing features in iTunes 9.0 or what's going on here? If I can't fix the problem would creating a new smart playlist with the same settings as the Recently Added playlist fix the problem..haven't tried that yet.

I have the exact same issue. Only, the order is correct, in reverse.
I get the 50 First added songs, instead of the 50 Last added songs... I wonder what went wrong and if Apple will resolve this matter. Did you try to call for support?

I accedentally deleted my recently added play list which is where i synch my music from how can i retrieve the playlist i'm not concerened about the songs because there in my library but i would like the recently added playlist back on the left side

Match the rule "Date Added">"is in the last">"1">"Days" make the days and the interval to suit yourself, you can have days, weeks or months.
Check the box "Live Updating"

"Most Recently Added" Playlist syncing issue

I add music to my iTunes library pretty slowly, so I created this smart playlist to replace the default Recently Added playlist:

In iTunes, this shows me the the 90 most recent Music items I added to my library. On my iPod Touch 2nd Gen, however, it shows me a seemingly random list of songs in my library which were synced to the iPod.
Any ideas?

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The conditions for your Smart Playlist are specific to the following:
iTunes will pick "90" items, with the parameter of *"most recently added"* - the "most recently added" condition is based of date, too my knowledge it does not encompass time though. - So, if you added more than 200 items and they all share the same date, then iTunes will choose 90 of those 200 items randomly.
Other than that, there may be a metadata error in your files which is causing this issue.

Can I See Recently Added Tracks, but not in a Playlist?

Here's my problem: I import about 30 wav files into iTunes. I then need to convert them to AAC versions, and delete the original WAV files.
However, there's no way to have iTunes only display the recently added files in the library. Yes, I can see them in the Recently Added Playlist, but I can't delete the WAV files from there.
The only way I've found to do it is to manually add something like "xx" to the titles, then go to the Music library, search for "xx" and delete those tunes.

You said I could copy the unwanted tunes to a regular playlist and delete them there. But I cannot delete them there, I can only remove them from that playlist. If I want to delete a tune, I must select "Music," in which case I would have to manually find the tunes I want to delete.
Am I misunderstanding?

Recently Added playlist won't sync to iPhone?

Ever since I started using iCloud/ iTunes Match, none of the songs on my recently added playlists show up on my iphone. As in the playlist title itself carries over, but when i open it on my iphone it's completely empty.
Please help! much appreciated.

I had a very similar issue (same playlist). After several frustrating hours of various combinations I was able to sync by changing the options to "manuall sync.." and then "dragging and dropping" the needed playlist from the iTunes Playlist list to the iPhone button (on my itunes setup/view that was from the far left column list of all of my playlist in iTunes to the far upper right "iPhone" button). To sum up "checking" the playlist and syncing didnt work, "drag and droping" the playlist did... at least for now... then I unselected the "manually manage" in the options and re-synced and all playlist were synced correctly. I fixed my recently added playlist syncing problem

Ever since the iOS 7 upgrade on my iPhone 5, my recently added playlist would not sync properly. It would be accurate in iTunes (latest version) but not on my iPhone. After trying some of the suggestions I found on this forum without luck, I started messing around with it myself. The way I got it to work was to first power down everything. After a reboot, I launched the music app on my phone. I selected the artist catagory and played a song completely until the album was completed (you could fast forward the song till the end). I left the app on the artist page and closed it in the background (double tap home button, swiped app). I then launched iTunes and connected the phone with a USB cable. After syncing, I went into my recently added playlist on the phone and it was up to date!
It seems that in my case if I left the app in the playlists screen, it wouldn't sync. The app remembers the last screen you had open since the last close, so it automatically reopens in that screen. I hope this helps anyone having the same problem. Good luck!

It's just a Smart Playlist, so make a new Smart Playlist called "Recently Added". Set the rule to "Date Added is in the last two weeks" and make sure both "Match the following rule" and "Live updating" are checked. That's the same as the default "Recently Added" playlist...

Deleted recently added playlist

I accidentally deleted the recently added playlist from my computer version of itunes. when i sync with my ipod, will the list be replaced automatically? second question, can i see my account at itunes store to see what songs i most recently downloaded? thanks so much for your help.

The defaults playlist are just Smart Playlists and you can recreate them. In iTunes go to File>New Smart Playlist
Recently Added:

Recently Added playlist issue

Every time I try to sync my Recently Added playlist to my iPhone 5, all iOS does is sync the recently added tracks that have been played...
This is pretty stupid as when it comes to buying new music, they do not sync across despite the fact they are in the playlist on my iOS.
Any solutions?

Yes, this is how it should work.
The Recently added Playlist is a Smart Playlist. You don't have to add anything to it. It will select songs based on the criteria in the Smart Playlist.

No, this is not how it works.
A Playlist is simply a list of songs.
Any song can be in any/all playlists. It is still only in the library and on your computer one time(unless you import it again from the CD).
Think of it this way;
- You have a stack of CDs in your cabinet
(this is the same as the actual song files on the computer).
- You have a written list of all your CDs
(this is the same as the iTunes library).
You have another written list of recently added songs or Favorites
(this is the same as iTunes playlists).
Just because it is on your recently added list or your favorite list does not mean you have two copies of it in your CD cabinet.

Delete songs from iTunes library from "recently added" playlist

can you please add a function that removes songs from both the entire library and the recently added playlist by simply right clicking a song while in the "Recently Added" playlist that has the "Delete" function. this is very simple and would make iTunes that much more user friendly.

The idea is to put correct info in your signature to help with problems you may be having As an example, if you had problems with your iTunes library disappearing and your signature showed "Sony Vaio", immediately we would know the Sony media software is the problem.
