Can't sync ripped music with iOS7

I've been having this issue since the second update to iOS7. It seems that I can now only sync music I've purchased from iTunes, and non of the music in my library that were ripped from CD's that I own.
At first glance it looks like the song has sync'd across, but when you try to play it, it skips until it finds a song originally downloaded from iTunes / iCloud.
I've got the latest version of iTunes (11.1.3) and iOS7 (7.0.4), but I'm still using the latest version of OSX (not Mavericks). I'm not using iTunes Match.
I've tried several different ways to fix it, changing the iPhone and/or iTunes settings. I've tried manually updating the selected songs. I've deauthorised and authorised the devices.
Is it worth upgrading to Mavericks to fix this? Any other ideas?
Thanks!

Hi Seductive,
Synchronising your music library should be possible on Nokia Suite. Could it be that you have stored your music in a different folder than the default music folder on your phone (the folder name depends on the default language of your device)?
To get your music library synchronised and recognised by Nokia Suite, first copy the phone music folder on your computer (delete it afterwards on your phone), add it to Nokia Suite, so you can see all of it in the music section, then transfer all files back to the device.

    I keep this as a copy and paste. It's the same process for Mac as it is for a PC. Read it over and see what you think. Post back if you have questions.
    The following was copied from this thread. This is essentially what you want to accomplish.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/11527071#11527071
    1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your Mac and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
    If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on iTunes / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
    Read this thread and the support links as well. There are apps that you can purchase that will allow you to transfer photos from the iPad to your PC. Look at Photo Transfer App in the App store and you can search for others as well.

  • I can't sync my Music with my iPhone 4. Songs start syncing and after 10-15 songs it stops

    When I connect the phone with the cable it starts syncing, but when it comes to upload the music it stops after few songs. I tried to restore the phone and it actually worked, I have like 1200 songs now. But If I add an album (like 10-15 songs) when I sync again it says that it has to add like 1000 songs and as I said it stops almost suddenly.
    What should I do?
    I have a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.9 and iTunes 11.1.2

    oh and apps sync fine, and I recently bought a new cords so I know it can't be a syncing in general failing, it's something to do with the music

  • I have updated my iPhone 3s to the latest software. I had backed up my phone before I did this. Now I have lost my music and apps. I can't sync the phone with my Mac, I can't re-download as the phone says I don't have any music or apps available. Help!

    I have updated my iPhone 3Gs to the latest software in an attempt to iron out a problem with a new telephone network provider (Tmobile). I had backed up my phone before I did this. Now I have lost my music and apps. I can't sync the phone with my Mac, I can't re-download from iTunes as the phone says I don't have any music or apps available to re-download although it all shows up on my Mac. The music and app content cannot be restored when I try to restore the phone from the back up I madeon my Mac. Help!

    Working on that now.  I'm just getting frustrated that everytime I run updates for the phone I end up with tech problems that I have to spend time solving as opposed to updates that actually improve my usage.  Now I will once again get to spend hours reloading my phone all for updates that didn't affect my usage in the first place.

    You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
    iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year.  It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you.  Items that it does not find in the catalog it'll upload and store these in the cloud for you and you can download them on your devices.  See http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/

    If the answer to the above question is "yes", FIRST, set up a backup of your new computer before you do anything else so the next time your computer breaks you will not be in the same situation. Backup solutions are numerous and inexpensive, and there is absolutely no excuse in the Third Millennium not to have one.

    You'll want to copy the music from your iPod to your computer and into iTunes first.  See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering some of the different methods and software available to assist you with this task.  Once you have successfully copied all your content back to your PC and into iTunes, you can safely Erase and Sync your iPod.

  • How do I get my music from my IPod back in the library of my new computer, it tells me I can only Sync my IPod with one library but I don't have my old PC anymore?

    How can I Sync my IPod in ITune on a new PC and get the music from the IPod in the library and avoid this msg:
    You can only Sync one library with your IPod?

    Use the backup of the media and other important files from the old computer to put them on the new computer.
    iTunes only syncs with one computer/library at a time.
    If you have failed to maintain a backup or no longer have the old computer, you may be out of luck.
    iTunes purchases can be transfered from the iDevice.  Connect the device, do NOT sync.  Select File > Transfer Purchases.
    This will only transfer iTunes purchases.  All other media will not transfer and will be wiped from the device when it is synced with a new computer/library.

  • Can't sync apps, music or videos on my iPhone4 with iTunes 10.2.2

    I just updated iTunes to 10.2.2 (on 10.2.1 everything was going smoothly) and now it seems that i can't sync anything to my iPhone 4 (fw 4.3.2). I'm using a Windows 7 32-bit OS.
    After selecting any app from the apps tab, iTunes will display the next messages:
    - It will sync the phone just after pressing the apply button;
    - Prepairing to sync;
    - Copying "Angry birds" (this lasts for like 1 second);
    - Determining apps to sync;
    - Finishing sync.
    After this process, on my iPhone, there will not be any new apps installed or any other files (music, videos) copied.
    Any ideeas why is this happening?

    Same Problem but with my iPod Touch 4th gen and that I can't sync my music. I tried re-installing itunes, Creating new playlists, added the music to the playlist then synced but it will not sync my music. I get 'determining tracks to sync' but skips to 'finishing sync'. I can take music off my iPod but can't add it. Fix this apple, this is very frustrating!

    Hey joshuafromisr,
    If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:

    So I have found a common denominator to this phenomenon. After having the same problem, I started to recopy my playlist of 500+ songs in groups of 10-20, 30+, 75+, and then over a 100+. Any music I have purchased from iTunes won't copy, but everything else did. Unsure if I made a playlist called "Purchased" at some point or this is an iTunes default, I also noticed it had some of the songs contained in my other playlist and was showing on my iPhone. Regardless of what I did such as dragging music from that playlist to the other and clearing songs from that playlist, I removed it altogether from the iPhone itself vs. doing through iTunes. After that, music copied fine to my playlist.
    So, my theory is that iTunes is getting tripped up on purchased tracks already showing on the phone and all songs are showing grayed out/dotted circle because iTunes can't resolve the conflict with purchased tracks.
    Hope this makes sense and is helpful.

  • After upgrading to 11.0.1, I can't sync my music or videos

    After upgrading to 11.0.1, I can not sync my music or videos.  I have restored the ipad many times, tried to sync only a few playlists, reset the ipad (restart button and home button).  No problems with contacts, mail, calendars, or apps.  Any suggestions where to attempt fix?

    To the original question of how to sync. If you have tried the usual routes via selecting Playlists from your Device Music page. And/Or Drag and dropping a playlist onto your device and neither work, it may be that your songs are unchecked.
    Right Click on a song in your playlist you are trying to sync. If the entryies at the bottom give you the option to Check selection. Then click this and repeat for all songs in that playlist. You can select all songs in a playlist by Cmd + A
    If you see Uncheck Selection then this is not the cause. It must be something else.

    Yes, windows to Mac too.
    iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
    Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

    If you connect your ipod to your computer then look in the hidden folder labeled "iPod_Control" . (This is on a Mac version, but i think it's the same for Windows) and in "Music" is all your music mixed up in different folders. Just drag the MUSIC folder onto itunes then BAM! It's done ;D
    Source:... This is what I did when this EXACT thing happened to me ;D
