Can't sync songs to ipod - help?

I've been having trouble with syncing songs to my ipod. I inadvertently lost all my songs, but they agreed to restore them. So far, so good. All the 50+ songs that I'd purchased from itunes in the last 2 years were restored --- but to what? My "library?" While all those songs appear whenever I plug in my ipod, there is no way they will sync back onto the ipod. Should I burn all those songs to CD's and then try to sync them? Apple suppost says they can't help me any further.

Ummm.
If your iPod says it is connected to another library, it should ask you if you want to replace all the songs on it. Click "Yes."
There is really no need to open up an old Library file.
To delete music from iTunes and iPod, simply hilight the song(s) you want to delete, press the delete key, and make sure you click "Move to Recycle Bin."
If this has nothing to do with your problem, please post back, only a with little more clarity.

OK, I finally got it - do the following:
    1. Connect Pre to your computer in USB mode.
    2. Open search feature and search for "ipod controls" file in the Pre drive (on my computer this is drive E
    3. On the search feature, go to advanced tab and tell it to search for hidden files.
    4. It should find ipod controls.
    5. DELETE, DELETE, DELETE
Keep in mind that this will delete all previously uploaded music installed by using *ughhh* itunes.  I love it.  Now I just drag and drop all music to my Pre drive.  Hope this helps.  It is nice to have a fresh start without having to wipe the entire phone.  Good luck out there.
This worked brilliantly!!! Thank you so much!! Pre is set......only issue now is that fact that half my music in iTunes is in a Protected AAC file format that the Pre can't play

  • Can't sync songs to ipod because my computer is 'not authorized'

I just bought my ipod touch a few months ago and it was working fine till I realised some songs were missing. When I go to sync my ipod and put the songs on I get told my computer isn't authorised. When I try to authroize it I keep getting this message
'We could not complete your iTunes store request. An unknown error occurred (-09808). There was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later'.
I also get this message when I try to deauthorize my computer. Does anyone know what I can do?

I received the same message a while ago and I just kept trying over time and finally it worked. It appears there is a problem with Apple's servers since the computer and to communicate with Apple to authorize/de-authorize.

  • Can't sync to my ipod touch - keep getting error code 13019 (Windows 7)?

can't sync songs (or anything else) from my itunes library to my ipod touch. I keep getting an error message - 13019. Have gone back to sync options under devices but nothing seem to help. Although it appears to be an itune error message I think it has something to do with Windows7. The problem just started so I went back two months on a restore but it didn't help. At a loss.

Previously I read of someone who could not fill the last 70 mb of their ipod, and were worried about that.
The replies to that seemed eminently sensible in suggesting that the ipod needs certain amounts of free space in order to allow things like web pages and emails to be downloaded should a person use those functions. Because of this it was unlikely to accept applications and tunes to fill up the full amount of reported memory. Also the people who posted (who seemed to know what they were talking about), seemed to think that a bit of free space was a good thing
I would suggest that you might need to delete more, and release more free space before this app will sync, and perhaps might be better to free up a decent chunk to let the ipod function as well as it can

  • Can't sync playlists from ipod touch to new computer

Can't Sync Playlists from iPod Touch to New Library
I just upgraded from an old Pentium computer to a new Dell XPS 18 running Windows 8.1.  Downloaded latest version of iTunes to the new computer, then successfully transferred library content from the old computer to the new one via the external hard drive method.  All material -- iTunes purchases, music ripped from CDs, a movie, even MP3 files purchased long ago from another source -- transferred successfully; everything plays on the new computer just fine.
My problem is that the "old" playlists didn't transfer over.  After connecting my iPod Touch to the new computer, I verified that the iPod has the latest version of iOS, and its content (including the old/original playlists) displays in the window on the left-hand side of the iTunes screen.  The really frustrating thing is that I can find no way to transfer the old playlists to my new iTunes library.  I've tried dragging and dropping, selecting and pasting, and exploration of all the options menus, but no luck.  Creating a new playlist in the new library and then clicking on the "Add To" button opens up a window into which to drop dragged songs/folders from the new library listing, but simultaneously closes the left-hand display window with all of my iPod's current playlists depicted.
I appear successfully to have backed up my iPod to the new computer, but all the sync menu options are grayed out.  When I tried clicking on the Sync button, I got a warning that syncing to the new library would erase everything from the old library -- presumably obliterating my playlists with it.  I have about a dozen different playlists, some of them with several hundred songs, drawn from a library of a few thousand individual items.  Is there some means of importing/transferring the old playlists to the new computer/library, so that I don't manually have to drag and drop hundreds and hundreds of songs into a new set of playlists?  Am I overlooking something really obvious or simple?  Can I safely turn on Home Sharing and then import or paste the old playlists into the new computer's library.  I don't think I'm too much of a Luddite, but given the size of my library I'm very leery of turning on Home Sharing (to the old Pentium computer) after I've successfully transferred over many GBs of content from the old machine to the new.
    Thanks very much --

  • HT1351 I have an IPOD that has not been synced to Itunes for several years. I no longer have the same computer or e-mail address.  How can I sync my old IPOD material to my new itunes account?

I have an older IPOD that has not been synced to Itunes for seceral yeras. I no longer have the same computer or e-mail address. How can I sync my old IPOD material to my new Itunes account?

Your email address (used as your Apple ID) does not matter, because iPods are not directly linked to a particular Apple ID.
NOTE:  You can still use your old Apple ID, even if your that email address is no longer valid.  As long as you remember your Apple ID password.  Go here and click on Manage your Apple ID.
    https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
You can change the primary email address used by Apple, although the Apple ID remains the same.
Back to the iPod.  iTunes syncing is generally in one direction only, from the computer's iTunes library to the iPod.  You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store.  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.  (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to your new iTunes library.  After confirming everything is there, sync your iPod to that library.  If there is any content purchased from the iTunes Store that uses DRM (copy protection), such as audiobooks, videos, and very old song purchases, iTunes may prompt you to authorize your computer with your Apple ID (the one you used to make the purchases).

  • Can't delete song from ipod touch that is not in my library

Can't delete song from ipod touch that is not in my library

Monty's solution will work if you have left the songs in one of your playlists. Another idea if that doesn't work is to check your iTunes list for that iPod. Check at the very bottom beneath the albums, artist,s and other content to add to your iPod, and be sure that you don't have individual songs selected to be added as well. If you do, eliminate them from that bottom list, and you should be fine.
