Can't sync with new car phone

When I try to sunc my Treo 680 with my new Ford Taurus, I get the message "Unable to sunc with trusted device." My first attempt was when my previous car was within range and it appently tried to sync again with it. It is now out of range and I still get the message.

Hi.. Welcome to the Palm forums. You 680 is a older device and you Taurus is a new vehicle. Being new it probably has the new MicroSoft sync technology. That technology was not available when your 680 was developed. The compatibility list from Palm.com shows compatible with Ford (Pieker Mobile-Ease). Check your owner manual and if that is the bluetooth car kit installed by Ford it may be able to sync. If it is MicroSoft sync it is not compatible. The message you are getting is due to your iPod being set to automatically update from iTunes (sync), an iPod can only sync with one library. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc. If your new iTunes has the same music as your iPod then pressing "Erase and Sync" will link your iPod to the library and update it with the songs you have on there.
However if your new library is empty choose "Cancel", your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

Whatever you bought/downloaded from iTunes Store can be re-downloaded from there to your new computer and synced to your iPhone, or iPod. Just sign into your iTunes account.
As far as music that didn't come from iTunes Store there are non-Apple programs to move music from your iPhone to iTunes on your new computer. I'm using PodWorks (not cheap,~ $8); another is Senuti. There are many others & some good ones are free.
I agree that you should be using a backup. But that's not the question you asked, just something we all need to do. Saves a lot of headaches.

Old hard drive died; can't sync with new HD

Hello!
I recently replaced my hard drive on my computer. When I go to sync my nano, it gives me the option only to "Erase and Sync" my ipod with the music that is already on my hard drive. This would mean I would lose everthing on my nano, including some rather pricey audiobooks. Obviously I want to save these files. Is there anyway to move the information from my nano to the ipod program? I have already "authorized" my new hard drive with itunes.

Can't sync with new iTunes..whe syncing it stays on step 5 "waiting for changes to be applied"

So I downloaded the new iTunes and iPhone update a couple of days ago since then I have not been able to sync properly.
-Initially it said that my was over storage so I removed about half of my library. Which was odd because initially it told me i was 158mb over then I deleted about 10 albums and I was still 32mb over.
-After I brought it down to under the storage level...I went to sync it, it would go all of the way through then be stuck on the last step and it would say "waiting for changes to be applied" after 5 minutes of that I would get a message that would pop up that says "The iphone could not be synced because the sync failed".
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I've been having the same problem. It would either get stuck at "Waiting for changes to be applied" or "Waiting for items to copy". My last successful sync was on 10/15. Tried a number of times either via wifi or direct connect.
Solved it in the following fashion:
Connected the phone to the computer via Lightning cable.
My phone was set to back-up to iCloud. Changed that setting to back up to the computer.
Unchecked the "Sync Music" option under the music tab.
Hit apply.
After a wait - the back-up completed and all the music was removed from my phone.
Once it was done, re-checked "Sync Music" - it got past "Waiting for Changes to be Applied" at this point.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
It sounds like you have failed to do this, which is not good at all.
You will have to transfer your itunes purchases from your iphone. Authorize your computer for your itunes account
About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
Open itunes, plug in iphone, do NOT sync, click File>Transfer Purchases
When you do sync you will lose your pics ( photo library - synced from your old computer), your itunes content ( music, apps, videos,etc) , your contacts and your calendars. So do NOT sync yet. This is why a backup copy is so important.
Enter one unique contact and calendar entry on your computer.
When you first sync, you should get the option to merger the data. Choose it.
If you want your pics, then you will need to e-mail them to yourself before you sync. They will not be of the original quality as they are reduced when synced to iphone.
When all is as goos as it can be, then backup your computer, and always maintain the backup.

I recommend that you
Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Make sure you specify a birthdate that results in being at least 13 years old
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
Settings>FaceTime
Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.

I'm working on a Dutch website in the HealthVault Environment. I got difficulties in creating and updating a careplan with care tasks. Most likely it's due to lack of knowledge...
Following code works fine:

It creates a plan called [test]. But I don't know how to create a plan with one or more tasks in it: the tasks property is read only.

You cannot. Copy everything you want form the old computer to the new one, then sync it.

Correct Iphone will sync, or manually manage, with one and only one computer/library at a time. Syncing, or manually managing, to another will indeed erase the current content.

If you do not have a back up of the crashed hard drive you can download an app to copy from the iPhone to iTunes on the new hard drive.
I have used Pod2Mac. There is also Pod2PC.

You cannot merge Apple ID accounts, that has never been supported.
You can contact the Apple ID Security folks per the listing in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 and they can help reset security questions and get the account working.
