Can't synch video files, video podcasts or convert iTunes video to iPod vid

I don't know what has changed recently - I don't recall a new version of iTunes being installed but I am on iTunes 9.1.0.79 under WindowsXP.
I am no longer able to synch video podcasts which have been downloaded via Juice and video from iTunes-subscribed podcasts which were both in the right format and synching happily before whatever it was that changed, changed.
In addition, I cannot right-click and convert video to iPod format - that option isn't there. It has either gone (boo) or the video IS in iPod format in which case why isn't it synchcronising?
I've spent many hours now trying to work out what's changed, gone wrong, what kind of settings need to be changed to get back to where I was.
HALP!

I'm having the same issues! I used to be able to convert video, but that option is no lnoger there. My video is in a Quicktime format(which I thought was supposed to be compatible with itunes anyway) and it won't play.
And since when aren't you allowed to email customer support?? They want me to pay a min of $29 to have an analyst call me at my convenience? Bunch of greedy bastards!

  • Can't synch videos to ipod

i have a 5th gen ipod, i recently switched computers from windows to a mac. I've synched my music and photos, however my ipod won't recognise mp4 films other than the ones i've purchased from itunes. Does anyone know how to resolve this ?. Thanks.

This usually means that either the file is not in the proper format (MPEG4/AAC LC or H.264/AAC LC) or that the format is not in complicnce with the limitation of the iPod player for the correct format. Try opening the file with the QT Player and check the format using the "Show movie info" and/or "Show movie properties" option. If not in the correct fomat, then use a converter to to make your movie iPod compatible. (The specific application to do this will depend on your OS, the source format, and your willingnes to go with free/commercial software.) If the movie is already supposed to be in an iPod compatible format, then the usual problem is one of your video data rate peaking above the limitation of the iPod to play it. In this case you can try lowering your target video data rate or switch to a single pass conversion mode which tends to "clip" such peaks more effectively.

  • IPod touch can't synch .mov files with iTunes.

My iPod touch can't synch .mov files with iTunes. The error message says that the files were not transfered because they can't be read on my device.  I'm not able to transfer any mp4 files, either.  These are my own short animations, small files (under 2MB). Home sharing is on.  I'm trying to synch with the latest version of iTunes on a Windows 7 64-bit machine.  Thanks.

    See:
iTunes: May be unable to transfer videos to iPhone, iPad, or iPod
iTunes: Frequently asked questions about viewing and syncing videos
Yo may have to use a third-party computer program like HandBrake to convert the format to one compatible withthe iPod

  • HT1535 so I've done all that and I still can't add a playlist I've created in iTunes to the iPod...?

I've followed the instructions to tell the iPod that I want to manage music and video manually, but I still can't add a playlist I've created in iTunes to the iPod...

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Why can I not add the audiobooks I purchased from itunes to my ipod

Why can I not add the audiobooks I purchased from itunes to my ipod. My ipod is 60 gb version 1.3. I think a 5th generation

    Kristy,
Is your iPod configured to sync audiobooks?  To check, plug your iPod in and when it appears in iTunes locate it's audibooks tab and make sure it is set to them.

  • Can't Transfer Video to iPod

I have an 160 gb iPod Classic (format Windows 8) and cannot transfer video podcasts from iTunes to my iPod.  I have verified I have the current version of iTunes and iTunes says my iPod has version 2.0.4 which it says is the current version.  I can play video podcasts from "NOVA Science Video Podcast", "Science Channel Video" and "Science Friday Video Podcast" on iTunes but they won't transfer to my iPod Classic.  I have noticed the videos create mp4 files on my local hard drive.  I have tried the option on iTunes to "Create New Version" and then select "Create iPod or iPhone Version" and the video still won't transfer to my iPod Classic.  What should I do to make these podcasts transfer to my iPod Classic?
    George

I figured it out. I went to play the video directly from iTunes rather than trying to transfer it to the iPod. I got a message I am not authorized, just like before. But this time it asked me if i want to authorize it. I clicked yes, obviously and voila...successful authorization. Now I can play it on my computer and iPod. Sorry for wasting everyone's time with this.

  • Problem Synching Video To Ipod

Whenever I try and load an Mpeg-4 video to Itunes my computer freezes for a long time. When it unfreezes the file does not show in Itunes. Any ideas what would cause this and how to correct it?

Double check to make sure podcasts are configured to sync to your device from under the iPod's Podcast configuration tab.
To access the Podcasts tab for your iPod, plug your iPod in and click on it from under theDevices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will bring you to the Summary tab. Along the top you should see a Podcasts tab, so go ahead and click on it.  Here you can configure how and what podcasts sync to your iPod.
If you do make any changes to do this tab, make sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to apply the update changes to your device.
Otherwise, are you getting any error messages when you sync your iPod Classic with iTunes?

  • Can't put videos on ipod

i have bought a ipod video 30gb. but when i try to copy any videos into my ipod. there is a message that is doesn't works. at this site they say that i have to convert my video with iTunes. and when i do this, i can copy the video into my ipod, but there is no sound. what is wrong?
    thank you

Quicktime, Quicktime Pro and iTunes don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.
See:iPod plays video but not audio.
You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.
See this for help: Guide to converting video for iPod (Mac/Windows).

  • I can't put videos on ipod 30g

    Hello:
I have an ipod 30g but I can't transfer videos from my computer to the ipot only the videos that I buy from itunes, and I bought the quick time 7 pro to convert my videos but it dosen't work or maybe I don't know how to do it, can any one help me with that?
    Thanks

As Jeff pointed out, the Videora iPod Converter (free) is a Windows specific application that you should probably install if for no other reason that to convert "muxed" (single audio/video stream multimedia) formats. However, since you have already paid for QT Pro, I don't suggest you simply toss it away. While QT Pro is very slow when using the dedicated "Movie to iPod (320x240)" export option, it can also be used with the "Movie to MPEG4" manual preset collection to enter settings which can be much faster. In addition, QT Pro employs a gernerally "tight" compression strategy which may come in handy with some movie content. Basically, different converters work somewhat differently and sometimes one works better than another with a particular movie or if a single application is used, will need to be "tweaked" to operate at its best. So it is always a good idea to have more than one converter available if needed. After a fair amount of use you will likely gravitate to one application for general use based on the file types you use most often and their content.

  • Why won't my podcasts sync from Itunes onto my Ipod (5th Gen/30Gb/Video)?

I have other podcasts that played on my Ipod before. But the newer ones are not syncing on my Ipod. I did have TV shows sync on my Ipod. Why they would only sync and not the others is beyond me. Also are podcasts the same as video podcasts? I know on my Ipod there are categories called "podcasts, or video podcasts". Please help!!

    Error messages:
    1. Some of the videos in your itunes library, including the video "Derezzed by Daft Punk", were not copied to the iPod "Ba25's iPod" because they can not be played on this iPod.
    2. Five different videos (podcasts - TV and Film) were not copied because the video format is not supported by the iPod "Ba25's iPod".
I've had other podcasts sync onto my iPod from a few years ago.

  • Can't add videos to ipod in OS10.8 but can in OS10.7

I have my main startup drive loaded with OS 10.8 and my second internal drive with OS10.7. Everything works fine when I've started up from the second internal drive, but when I startup up with OS10.8, I can't load any videos into my ipod. Both drives have the same version of ITunes and Quicktime. Is this a known issue and is there a solution?

Sorry, it was the end of a very long work day. The main startup drive is 10.4.8, the second internal drive is 10.4.7. I have repaired permissions and run diskwarrior on the main startup drive. It's the latest version of itunes on both drives (I double checked and ran software update on both drives). It's a brand new 80gig video ipod. I'm not on the system at the moment, but there are a bunch of problems when I use the main startup drive. The options to update and restore for the ipod are greyed out. There are no video folders in the ipod (but if I remember correctly, they are there when I start from the other drive). When I first tried running itunes with the new ipod I couldn't register the ipod. I was able to do that from the other drive. And everything seems fine when I startup from the secondary drive. When I've started up from the main drive, I can't drag videos from itunes into the ipod. It works perfectly when starting up from the other drive. The main drive is a clean install and OS and app update done about 6 weeks ago. The secondary drive was a cloned version of the startup drive (done before wiping and doing the clean install).
    Thanks for your help.

  • Can I set MP3 files as "Podcast" so that I can get the blue "Unplayed" dot?

Here's my scenario: I have a whole bunch of audio files of Spanish lessons that are in MP3 format that I want to put on to my iPod. There's quite a lot of them: 82 in fact, and they're titled lesson 1, lesson 2, lesson 3, etc.
In order for me to be able to see at a glance, from one day to the next, what files I have listened to, or to be more precise, what was the LAST file I listened to and what is the NEXT file I should listen to, I was wondering if there was some way I could somehow have these regular MP3 files show up as PODCASTS?
The reason I ask this is because non-played podcasts have that little blue dot next to them that shows that they have not been played, and played podcasts don't have that little blue dot.
Obviously, if I could have my Spanish audio files as podcasts, with blue dots, then I could see instantly what is the next file I have to listen to, without having to try and remember the lesson number.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance...

Might take a little work, but you can do it be creating an RSS file for the content, dumping it on a web server, and "subscribing" to it.
    * Grab an RSS file from any podcast and save it on your system.
    * Edit the file, changing all the description data to something relevant (or removing it)
    * For the episodes, change the file location reference from "http://..." to "file://localhost/...thefile_on_your_harddrive". This makes the RSS file only useful to someone who already has the files. It also results in iTunes duplicating the files as you subscribe and it "downloads" each episode.
You may also be able to use GarageBand '06 to make a suitable RSS file, but I haven't ever tried this.

  • Can't load my ipod nano from itunes on a mac; that is, I can't drag and drop an mp3 file (of a speech) from iTunes to my iPod--though the iPod shows up on iTunes. My nano is the brand new touch screen.

I received the new iPod Nano with the touch screen for Christmas. I have a MacBook Pro running OS 10.5.8. I have iTunes 10 on my system. I cannot drag and drop MP3 files from iTunes to my iPod--though it appears that iTunes recognizes my iPod--it shows up on the Devices menu on the left side of iTunes. My wife--a long-time Mac user--kidded me that I didn't know what I was doing, Then she tried to load my iPod and failed as well. Any suggestions?

Is the Manually manage music and videos option enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes?

  • I can not open a file that has been converted from a PDF to a .doc.  I have a one year subscription to PDF Pack.

I click on the tool to convert my pdf file to a .doc file.  When the program writes it is finished and I can down load the document, I do so.  Even though the converted file is listed as a .doc or docx, neither Microsoft Word nor OpenOffice can open it.  What is going wrong?
I also click to be able to edit my pdf document, but no commands to edit it come up.  Am I doing something wrong?

    Hi ktewksbu,
I don't think you're doing anything wrong. What is the file size of the converted document (and the filename extension)? Do you have the same issue with any file that you try to convert? Or is the problem specific to one file?
As for editing a PDF file, that requires Acrobat. (Adobe Reader lets you comment on a PDF, but  not alter its content).
    Best,
    Sara
