Can't synchronize photos

There is one feature of iCloud that I was looking foreward to.   Nothing else appears to be an improvement to me.     What excited me was the promise that I could synchronize my iPhoto libraries.
So I upgraded my mobile.me (which had nothing to offer me over dot-mac) to iCloud.   I had some problems such as having two sets of each calendar event being displayed, but finally got things working - except I needed to upgrade my iPhoto.
So the other day I upgraded the iPhoto on my computer and on my wife's computer.   Over time, I gradually found settings - but apparently am missing something.   I've added some photos to my iPhoto, but they are not appearing on her iPhoto nor on the iPad's photo.
Our iPhotos are configured "Enable Photo Stream", "Automitic Import", "Automatic Upload", "Share entire Library".
System Preferences/iCloud has "Photo Stream" checked.   It shows 24.85 GB of 25 GB available - Mail uses 152.1 MB, and Backup uses 0 KB used.   I don't know what happened to backup, it used to be on mobile.me.    Apparently the photos never made it there.
My Wi-Fi iPad 1 has Photo Steam to "On" in the iCloud settings.   I wonder why its switch is one layer deeper than the on-off switch for stuff like "Calendars".
It is also set to On in the Photos setting.   (Is there a setting to sort my events?)
My old procedure was to add photos to my wife's iPhoto library, then to copy her iPhoto library to my computer, then to delete the iPhoto caches on my computer.  I haven't tried that since I upgraded my iPhoto.  When I plugged the iPad into my computer usually, it would synchronize the photos to it from my iPhoto library.   Sometimes the settings would go away, and I would have to select my events and albums again.
Now the settings are still set to select albums, Events, and Faces and automatically include Events from the last 12 months.   But the new events on my iPhoto weren't showing up on the iPad, wirelessly.   I had to plug it in.   And the new events aren't showing up on my wife's iPhoto.   So it's the iCloud part which isn't working.    I expect I needed to set more switches than I found.   It took some searching to find the switches I did find (the procedure should have been automated), but what I did was insufficient.

Delete the iPod photo cache, as described here:

How can I synchronize my iPhoto events? my iTunes doesn't read them and with the app Images in the iPad I can only find Photos, Albums, Faces and Places, not Events.

I had a problem a couple of months ago when iPhotos suddenly rearranged the order of my Events (Why won't iPhoto let me arrange my photos?) .  I was told "Use albums not events - events are not a good way to organize - albums and folder are designed for organisation and are very flexible".
Haha!  I should have paid attention and read between the lines!  My iPhotos were highly organised groupings - not according to date but the way I wanted them - and it was so easy to do!  I see now that if I had them all in albums, as per the Apple Apologist suggestion, I wouldn't have this unholy mess I have been left with just to make iPhone & iCloud users happy.  I am now going through Photos and making Albums (of what used to be in my Events)  ... maybe I'll get this finished before they do another non user friendly update!

  • After Itunes update I can't select photo-folders to synchronize

I updated Itunes to version 11.1.1 (11) on my Imac.
When I try to synchronize my Iphone 5 or Ipad there is an error 1140.
I think there is a problem with Iphoto, because you can't also not select anymore a specific folder in Iphoto to synchronize.
When you don't synchronize photo's, there is no problem.
    Who has a solution?

iTunes will silently ignore any request to add files that it can't get access to. It is hard to know for certain but it seems that some requests go via the current user account and some via the system account. Might be worth checking that both your account and system have full access to all the files you are trying to connect, and that they are not hidden.
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.
If it won't let you change the permissions use the Owner tab to take ownneship from an account with administror privileges.

  • HT201302 Why can't iTunes synchronize photos from my iPhone camera roll to iPhotos on my Mac?

I was really surprised about iTunes. It has option 'iPhone -> Photos -> Sync with iPhoto'. iTunes is so cool and can sync data through WI-FI so I am happy I don't need to plug-in iPhone to Mac with cable.
But this option works only one way. So I can sync images from iPhoto to my iPhone, but can not do it other direction.
I know I can do it with cable and iPhoto but it's stupid: use iTunes to copy data from Mac to iPhone and iPhoto to copy photos from iPhone to Mac. Furthermore iTunes is integrated with iPhoto and iTunes can talk to my iPhone without cable and internet just using WI-FI network.
I know I can copy my photos using iCloud and My Photo Stream, but it's so complicated, it uses my traffic, it stores my personal data on external servers. I don't like it.
I would be very happy if you can implement this feature. So I can go home and be sure my photos is already on my Mac cause I am using the same WI-FI network and it was copied by iTunes automatically.
    Kind Regards,

  • Can't get photos from iPhoto to iPod

My iPod software won't recognize my iPhoto library so I can't synch pictures. When I select the iPod Option to synchronize photos from iPhoto and do an iPod update, it doesn't transfer and photos from iPhoto and in fact it unchecks the synchronize photos option in the iPod software. I'm using a 60GB video iPod w/the current iPod software, iTunes 6.0.1, iPhoto 5.0.4 on an iMac G5, running OS X 10.4.3.

    Archyeon:
    Here's how to do it:
Getting Photos from iPhoto 5 to an iPod
create a special Album in iPhoto for the Nano and place those photos in it you want on the iPod.
connect the Nano to the Mac and when mounted in iTunes open iTunes' preferences and go to the iPod Photos section - Figure 1.
scroll down till you see the album and select it. If you don't want the full sized image files to be copied to the Nano do not select the Include full-resolution photos box.
close the preferences and when the syncing is completed dismount the Nano and then disconnect from the Mac.

  • How can  downloud my photos in my new computer

    dell   Windows XP

Do you mean add photos from your computer to your iPod? Have a look at the tutorial: Transferring Pictures to Your iPod
Once you've had a look at that here's a tip for managing the photos that go on to your iPod. Create a folder on your hard drive called called "iPod Photos" or something similar and drag the photos you want on your iPod to it.. Under the photo preferences for the iPod, point iTunes to "synchronize photos from" and choose to update from your new folder. If you keep a dedicated folder like this, you won't need to edit your normal pictures folder just for the iPod and you can add and remove picture from it whenever you need to.
If you are trying to copy photos from the iPod to the computer, have a look at these utilities:
    iPodPhotoCopy
    CopyPodPhoto

  • Can you browse photos on your iPod in iTunes?

I've got a 5th Gen 60GB Video iPod, and down in the right-hand corner of the iTunes window it says "6 photos." But that's it. Is there any way that I can browse these photos in iTunes, perhaps if I wanted to manually update the photos?

as far as i know, you cannot check your photos in iTunes, but i do have another solution...
iTunes uses a folder located somewhere in your hard-drive (you designate it)...
if you wish to be able to browse your Photos, try this (it will be using a basic "folder" in your comptuer)
    1: Plug in your iPod
2: when the iPod and iTunes sync, open up the iPod options menu...
3: click ont he tab labeled "Photos"
4: check mark the box that says "Synchronize Photos From:", and then in the drop down menu click "Choose Folder"
5: a window will appear allowing you to choose a folder in your computer for photos (any pictures you have in this folder will automaticly be added to your iPod when you sync with iTunes)
6: if you wish to add/delete any photos from your iPod just add/delete them from the folder

  • Help; I can only synchronize parts of my iPhoto library to my iPad.

Help; I can only synchronize parts of my iPhoto library to my iPad.
When I connect my iPad to my iMac using iTunes, I am not able to synchronize all of the library. I have marked off All pictures, events etc., but it only synchronize parets of it. I have plenty of available space, so it is not that.
    Can anybody help?

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for the iPod Photo Cache.
Trash it. Start iPhoto and try sync again.

  • HT1420 I use two MacBook pro, two iPads and two iPhones. Upon connection and attempt to synchronize photos I receive a message that my authorization limit is exceeded. I read that iOS devices do not count against the authorization limit.

I use two MacBook pro, two iPads and two iPhones. Upon connection and attempt to synchronize photos I receive a message that my authorization limit is exceeded. I read that iOS devices do not count against the authorization limit. One iPhone and one iPad show in the authorization list. iTunes wants to delete my purchased programs and books from the iPad to continue synchronization. What can I do?

Ok, now I do wish I could edit....
I forgot to APPLY the network settings for the USB cable to work. Connected thru USB I can tether.
So, I kept playing, and playing some more...
I had previously unpaired everything, and gone as far as removing network devices HOWEVER...
I didn't remove the Ethernet, Firewire or Airport Network devices.
Now, I have done so. I REMOVED EVERYTHING
    No pairing, no network devices.
Bluetooth was already turned off, and I rebooted.
I turned off tethering and rebooted the iphone.
I turned on bluetooth (on the MBP), I turned on tethering. I browsed for the iphone. It said I was already paired???? Ok, repair AGAIN, and THE IPHONE SHOWED MY BLUETOOTH TETHERING BLUE BAR at the top of the screen!
I opened a web page, no go... d4mn, I was close...
Opened network preferences and the created a new bluetooth PAN and voila! Internet back on the MBP. I am about to reinstall the ethernet and airport (I can live without firewire for now) and see what happens.
Basically, the link I posted two posts ago, I had already done that, but I NEEDED to remove ethernet, firewire and airport as well...
So MAYBE it's fixed, we'll see for how long. I'm not going to mark this as answered for now, because basically, it has failed for no reason, and I want to know why...
Hopefully someone can come up with something, but having to delete and reinstall all pairings and network devices (to me) is not really a solution, it's a workaround (at best).

  • I can't upload photos, please help!

I have recently bought the new iPod video with 30 gb, i have already been able to upload videos and music but when i try to put photos on my iPod and i go to: iPod preferences, photos, synchronize photos from, and select the folder i want, iTunes starts optimizing my photos and then i get an error while updating saying: "The iPod can't update, the required folder was not found"
What can i do??? y tried everything but nothing helps!

We've had the same problem and cured it by changing USB ports.
We had recently upgraded to a USB2.0 card to improve transfer speeds.
We then decided to put photos in the ipod for the first time.
Like others here, we got through the optimisation process but then got the message about the ipod not being able to update and the required folder not found.
We updated the ipod software and itunes to the latest versions but it didn't help.
We then swapped ports to the old USB1.0 and it cured the problem. We now have photos on the ipod.
Hope this helps some of you.

  • How can I moving photos from one roll to an other

I tried to drag and drop photos from one roll to an other. If the roll has a lot of photos (e.g. 250) I can not scroll down to a roll below. iPhotos does not automatically scroll down when I try to drag them down.
How can I scroll or move these down?
    thanks for your input
    Baguette

Drag and drop will work, but you have to drag to the roll title. It will turn blue when you can drop the photos. It should scroll when you move to the top or bottom of the window, but sometimes it gets going really fast and is hard to stop where you want it.
An easy way is to close the rolls and make everything as small as possible so the the source and destination rolls are all in the window at the same time. Of course if you have a really big library this might work.

I want to see all  my photos in 'Library' view, and I can't figure out how these photos seem to be arbitrarily hidden. Help, please.

  • How can I export photos from my iPad or iPod to my main computer or hard drive. My old computer died and I want to get my photos onto my new computer. Thanks in advance.

HOw can I export photos from my iPad or iPod to my main computer? My old computer died with my photos on it but I want to move my photo library from my iPad or iPod to the computer I just bought. Thanks for any help you can give.

Sorry but your iPhoto library is not on an iPad or iPod - you may have photos there (most likely low resolution copies) but not an iPhoto library - dying computers (along with software and human errors) are why you always must have a backup - now is the time to load it
