To start my info is:

HP MINI 210-1003sa

I have tried accessing recovery manager from the start menu, also tried accessing it by pressing f8, repair computer and f11 system restore isn't lit up as an option to click.

It says my netbook has no recovery partition yet when I go to my computer drive D is the recovery partition.

I have also downloaded the hp program that creates a bootable system restore USB stick but when I boot from it it just loads up windows.

I really need to reset to factory settings ASAP, please help.

Hi Mike:
The second chapter of this saga.
I did order the recovery USB.
I did what it was asking and wiped out the HDD clean.
But the system is still unstable.
It took a very long time to configure itself. Several times I had to run the process again because it would either not boot or it would be just sitting there at the attached screen.
Sometimes it would go to Win8 boot window, but then suddenly come back to the same screen.
It seems that HDD is completly out. What is the warranty on the HDD? This laptop is just two years old.
And a side note: we had to send it for repairs twice already for monitor issues; the keyboard is not flat; there are some loose parts inside. I really expected better quality from such a reputable brand as TOSHIBA.

• System restore from recovery partition

Yes, this question has probably been asked many times, but I cannot find a working answer in this forum. Apologies for that.
Something corrupted very important files on my Sattelite L870D in a way that it doesn't boot any more. I can power it up in the recovery partition on the disk (F12+power). It goes into all teh possible options and such.
But, is there a way I can recover back the factory image, or at least bootable Windows 8.1 image from this recovery partition? There are two disks ther - X: and H: - with some files. One of the recovery options asks to use a disk - either extenal DVD/USB or network. Is it the only option? There are no working images on those partitions on the HDD (other than C?

• IPod 1st Generation Touch- System Restore from Recovery Mode

My iPod Touch 1st Generation worked fine one day and the next day all it would do is disply the little white "Apple" and then go black. It was fully powered. I opened my Itunes account and connected the iPod. Nothing. Then I saw on a previous discussion board to hold the power and home button at the same time while hook to my computer. A graphic of the usb cord and Itunes appeared, and the Itunes account recognized the device but said it was in "Recovery Mode" and in order to have it work again I would need to allow for a system restore. So I did. It seemed to go through the process and then tried to re-sync. It has now been "syncing" for over an hour. It is stuck. I can not do anything, even if I disconnect the iPod from the computer. I have no idea what to do, I am super frusterated. My iTunes account seems to be locked and have not made any progress with the iPod of getting past any other graphic other grapic besides the usb/iTunes picture. Please help if possible.
Also, since it is a 1st generation, I recently upgrade the OS to the only allow upgade however, I am not sure which one it was. This is the first problem I have had with my iPod. Apologize for the lack of specifics.
Thanks much in advance.

Close iTunes and disconnect the iPod from the computer. Reboot the computer. Then try to restore again.
- Try as necessary:
- A reset.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Placing the iPod in
Recovery mode
- Placing the iPod in DFU mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- Both those modes require that you turn the iPod fully off. If you can't do that let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try the reset.and restore again.
- If still not successful time for an appointment a the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

• Delete my win 7 but cannot restore from recovery partition any more

Hello,
I tried to restore my computer to a fresh install, but instead using the restore to default I pressed the delete all
so I don't even got a windows.
I install win7 from USB and I can see the TOSHIBARECOVERY partition in the disk management.
How can I restore my computer from this partition to factory mode?
Is it possible?
I know I can buy the recovery disc from Toshiba, but I bought this computer in the US, and now IM in Israel for the next year, so there is no possible shipping to here. So I would like to download it.
Thanks,
Nati

Hey.
Same problem here.
I saw something on internet that you either have to have the OS which came with the laptop to do recovery or the DVD for restoring.
Which is huge amount of idiocity.
Why can't the program to make DVD be placed on D drive with the HDD recovery.
And charge that MUCH to get DVD with piece of software that you are supposed to have for free.
Ok shipping and DVD but why can't we select download the recovery ISO instead?
This is just milking MONEY out of customers who accidentaly made a mistake and cannot recover the factory settings.
I see no reason why the recovery DVD can't be put on internet.

• Can't Install OSX Yosemite on iMac Mid-2009 Stuck - No Recovery Partition PLEASE HELP

I had an old iMac Mid-2009 2GB on OSX Lion, which had been kept away in the garage for a while. Pulled it out, ran Lion fine. It was going to be set up as a new computer, so I downloaded OSX Yosemite, planning to wipe and re-install after installation. Took a lot longer than I expected. After a while, the apple logo progress bar froze. I googled it and many people said just to wait it out, it could take up to 12 hours. 1 week later, still there. Fairly confident that nothing was going on on the hard drive. I reset the PRAM, didn't help. So I tried another fix I found which involved booting into the recovery partition. Guess what, no recovery partition . So finally I went to the trouble of creating an install usb. Booted fine, so I went into Disk Utility to erase my hard drive and re-install. But guess what, I couldn't! Can somebody please help! Or is this iMac stuffed?

Finally figured out the solution. My internal HDD appears to be not working after that faulty Yosemite installation. Just got a fast external HDD, plugged it into the iMac. Booted from the USB, went into Disk Utility and formatted it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) in GUID. Installed and got up an running fine. Finally fixed this after 3 weeks! Hopefully this will help anyone that has the same problem.

• Updated iTunes and now can't remove songs from my iPod - please help

I've updated iTunes to version 11.0.0.163 and have an iPod Nano 16gb 5th generation.
In iTunes, I'm no longer able to manually select songs to remove them from my iPod - I can't even see the list of music that's on my iPod. The only option it gives me is to sync, and I don't want to do that. Before I upgraded iTunes, it was easy to move music between my iPod and iTunes, now I can't - what's happened?
My iPod is full so I want to remove some music, not all of it. Any advice? Please help - I'm going round in circles!
Thanks

Ctrl + B for show Top Menu
View > Show Sidebar
itunes will now look more like itunes 10.
You can click on your device in the lefthand window as before
You may prefer to use the Music Sync page to select or deselect Playlists, Artists, Albums etc and click apply.
Delete your files is enabled by ticking the Manualy manage music option on the Device Summary page. You may have to scroll down to find it

• Can't burn CD from play list, please help!

I began burning a CD from my playlist and it froze up so I ended the session and started over. Now I cannot get the CD to eject from the burner on my computer and when I click on the burn CD button it says "Disk Burner or Hardware not Found" What did I do wrong and how do I fix it? PLease help. It one thing after another with this thing!!!

You're right, this doesn't seem to work. Hit the X to remove something, and it disappears for a moment....then move your mouse somewhere else on the Wish List screen, and whatever you removed is back like a bad penny.
Only thing to do is report it to Apple:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html
This is a user board, so nobody here can fix anything. The more people who report it, the quicker it should get looked at, in theory.

Things are really slow with this happening. I've checked out the popup tab, and I don't have it checked. There is nothing in the list either. PLEASE help me get rid of this problem. I have uninstalled firefox and reinstalled it. Would downloading an older version help?? Thank you for any help you can give me.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

• Can't Boot neither from Recovery partition or CD recovery disks

Hello everybody, I already purchased Laptopo with the following specifications:
- HP Pavilion DV6-6160 SE Entertainment Notebook PC
- Operating System is windows 7 64-bit
- Error message : an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data (File: \Boot\BCD & Status: 0xC0000225)
- After I purchased it I created the recovery CDs, then partition the C drive into two partitions by using EaseUse partition manager, the D partition which is for recovery still as it. after 3 weeks from that the above mentioned error occured while I were retarting the windows. Then I insert the the recovery CD and change the rebooting sequenc to be CD-room first then Hard disk but the error still exist with the same message, also I tried to count on the recovery drive which on the hard disk as I power up the device and press the F11 to boot from the recovery drive also nothing happened and the error message still exist.
I don't know how I can solve this problem the device still under warranty, Have recovery CDs, Recovery drive (D) is still exist but nothing can solve this problem
Finally I would like to inform you that I can access the windows 7 from safe mode, and I uninstalled all programs I have installed on it and try to restor factory setting but the device reboot with the same error
Awaiting for your kind support
Regards

Try booting into Safe Mode and use Disk Management to delete the extra partition you created.Reboot at least once before trying F11 again to see if it will work.
If no joy, you might also enter BIOS by tapping away at the F10 key immediately after powering on.Reset BIOS to Default settings then F10 to Save & Exit.

• Can't install Lion from Recovery partition

Trying to install from the Recovery HD and run the installer, connect to the App Store, and then get to this
It's been sitting there for a couple of hours. I can use other computers to access the Internet so it's not a web connection problem. This is not good. Always hated the idea that you need a net connection to install the OS, and now it's coming to bite me. This is truly, appalling abysmal. This installation method should be an embarrassment to Apple.
Any suggestions to get around this mess would be greatly appreciated.

Tom,
When you get the installer downloaded please do not click on the Install button. Make a copy and save it in your Downloads folder. Later you can make a bootable USB flash installer:
Make Your Own Mountain/Lion Installer
1. After downloading Mountain/Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Mountain/
Lion application. After Mountain/Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button.
Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Mountain/Lion installer. Move
the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You
must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes
installing.
2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
a. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
b. After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left
side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
c. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the
partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until
the process has completed.
d. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side
list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
e. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the
button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
f. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash
drive size.
3. Locate the saved Mountain/Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the content of the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
a. Double-click on the InstallESD.dmg file to mount it on your Desktop.
b. Open Disk Utility.
c. Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
d. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
e. Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
f. Drag the mounted disc icon from the Desktop into the Source entry field.
g. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable installer that you can use without having to re-download Mountain/Lion.
Note: The term Mountain/Lion used above means Lion or Mountain Lion.
As an alternative to the above (you still have to do your own download of Lion/Mountain Lion) you can try using Lion DiskMaker 2.0 that automates the process of Steps 2 through 4.

• Iphone 4 went into recovery mode when trying to restore, only option available now is to "restore and update" however this will not work, how can you restore from a backup once in recovery mode and only option is "restore and upgrade"? Please help!

iPhone 4 went into recovery mode when trying to restore it. Now the only option iTunes allows is for "restore & upgrade", it is not offer an option to restore from a backup, says that must first do the upgrade, when attempting to do the upgrade the iPhone won't accept it.
