Can't tell what it is? Ad Malware? Not a pop-up

New Mac Pro Lion Updated Firefox Left Firefox running like I always do. This AM I had two large ads on my desktop.(Netflix and I think Mac Machine) I was so upset I closed them fast. I don't think they had a menu bar. What I remember is an ad with nothing around them. I don't even know how I closed them I was so upset. They must have had a red button in the upper left. I have a Netflix account and called them this AM but they didn't seem to know anything about it. I had NOT gone to this account since I got the computer 5 days ago. I have Firewall enabled. This is all new to me on a Mac. I've used them for 30 yrs! Do I need to buy a piece of software to stop them. I hate Safari and love Firefox and have used it for yrs!

If it's plugged in, the battery icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen should show either a plug (indicating that it's plugged in but not charging- it's got a full charge). If it's plugged in and showing a lightning flash symbol in the battery icon, it's charging. If it's NOT plugged in, but with a full charge, the battery icon will be completely white on dark screens (such as the home screen), but green on light screens (such as Safari or Mail). If it has a partial charge, the battery icon will be partially an outline, and partially filled in. The "filled in" portion will represent the amount of charge left.

  • I have a problem with iphoto (have a mac book pro): the icon in the dock appears with a question mark, and the application is gone!!! Can someone tell what's going on? Yesterday I had the same problem with itunes

I have a problem with iphoto (have a mac book pro): the icon in the dock appears with a question mark, and the application is gone!!! Can someone tell what's going on? Yesterday I had the same problem with itunes: I downloaded the last version (it's free), but I cannot do the same with iphoto, and more important: I need to know what is happening!!! Please help me!

Applications should not disappear all by themselves.
If they are then that coud indicate serious problems with your hard drive.
Backup everything up as quickly as possible.
Using Disk Utility verify your system disk.

  • How can I tell what the iTunes build is before I download?

I am having difficulty finding out what the iTunes build is for the current download from the Apple site. I am running iTunes 7.6 (29); I assume the "29" is the build for my installed version. I also assume that Software Update will ignore build changes unless the version changes.
I do not want to download and install the current iTunes build unless it is different from my currently installled app. How can you tell what the specific version and build are from the Apple download site?
    Thanks!

I am running iTunes on Leopard.

  • How can I tell what app makes up the "usage"?

Under General Settings, you have the option to view usage. How can I tell what app is using that "usage"? It is not data, just time active.

Go to the AppleStore and download BatteryDoctor.
This will help you to see which apps take a lott of your battery level.

  • Upgraded to IO6, seems like the amount of system memory to run is higher, this causes issues with some Apps. I can't get SIRI to work because the amount of free system memory is not enough. how can I tell what is eating the system memory?

  • Colorblind users can't tell what apps are running

There needs to be a setting under Dock Preferences to CHANGE THE COLOR of the dot under running applications in the Dock.
I know the dot is there because I asked where the arrows went in the Apple Store and they told me it was there. After straining and squinting, I can almost see it. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE.
With my color blind situation, I can no longer tell what apps are running or not. I have to press command-option-escape for force quit just to see what is running.
Either bring back the Tiger black arrow, or allow a preference so that color blind users can tell what is going on.

You bring up an excellent point but no one at Apple who can make the change is likely reading Discussions. Put in a request for the Dock improvement at Apple OS X Feedback where it will be put in Apple's system for user requests.

  • How can you tell what GB a handset is...I'm buying iphone6 second hand

HHow can you tell what GB is in an iPhone 6 ....I'm buying second hand

the most reliable way is to go on the phone and tap
Settings/General/About - that will tell you the capacity (among other things)
but remember the actual space wont be what Apple advertises - my 128 GB iPhone 6 + says it has 114 gb of space - there is formatting and the operating system to take into account
the size is also printed on the back of the original box but unless you have the phone and get get the serial number off the phone (which is in that same location) you cant be sure the box is from the phone you are trying to buy

  • How can you tell what type of credits you have?

My iTunes account shows that I have 4 credits on the top right of iTunes but I can't tell what type of credits I have.  I have sent numerous emails to Apple iTunes support and they just keep telling me that it should say 1 song credit or 1 TV episode credit, etc. but all it says are 4 credits so I can't tell what the credits are for?  Can someone help?  I have the latest version of iTunes for Windows on a Windows 7 PC.

I updated QuickTime and now the top right under my name displays the number of credits and the types of credits.  Prior to this update, it only showed the name.
