Can't text another iphone?

Apologies I know there's a thread on this, but my post is rather buried on it. Copy of post below, having tried the suggestions mentioned, any further help would be really appreciated. To be honest it has got me confused now, not sure whether I'm supposed to have imessage on or off. All I need is to be able to text my Dad, nothing else.
I am having the same problem and as far as I know reset hasn't helped me at all yet? Annoying really, everything was working fine, then I switched on imessage and probably facetime too, trying to be too technical. Texts go to all other phones and I only know one person with an iphone, my Dad. Thing is I only got it him to make texting easier, which was fine until I messed around, but then texts started arriving from him saying they were from me, having gone through my email account on my Mac, even though they were from him. Mine aren't getting to him at all I've switched off imessage, and MMS messaging too, not sure whether that's right or not and reset the iphone as suggested. Still it seems no message is getting through, but works on all non iphones as far as I can see. Other suggestions have been to switch off cellular data, but I can't have to do that every time to send him a simple text surely? Thing is I live 200 miles from him, so can't even get both phones together at the moment to mess around with them or see just what's happening, and at 82 he's not a lot of help. Texts are as technological as he's got, and couldn't do it on a normal phone, so the iphone keyboard was the perfect answer, until I completely messed it up. All the numbers in contacts are just listed with an area code and actual number, though my number is listed as +44 for uk with the 0 missing. Has anyone got any cure for this annoying problem please. Thanks in anticipation. It's been driving me nuts for two weeks now.

Hi,
maybe you can help me out...
I came with my wife from US to Poland (we both have Verizon but my wife pre-paid). We get the Polish SIM card for her (iPhone 4S, iOS 8.2 - newest as of today) and the trouble started. She can call me, she can receive calls, she can text anyone but me. She can only send me iMessage when she's on WiFi and I as well. She can text any other people but me (regular text/sms).
We tried literally everything: resetting iPhone, taking out sim, removing and re-adding contact, changing the no. with/without country code, turning on/off iMessage, etc... Nothing worked. She can only send iMessage to me and text/imessage everyone else.
Help!
Thanks,
Greg

  • It's sending my messages as a text message when I'm texting another iPhone. How can I fix that? The messages are green and not blue. This just starting during half my conversation.

I was texting another iPhone when right it the middle of my conversation, it turned from blue to green. Now its sending all my messages as text messages and not iMessages. How can I fix this?

It could be that your signal dropped to GSM which is why it sent as a normal text. You need wi-fi, 3G or HSPDA to send as an iMessage. As does the receiver

How can I text non iPhone users now that I have imessage?

"Settings > Messages > Send as SMS = "On""
That is only for sending SMS if the iMessage user is not available via wifi or data.
If sending text to non-iphone user, that setting does nothing.

    Hi,
Today I tried to send a normal text message to 2 non iPhones today having sent messages successfully to these 2 phones on nye but neither would send.
So far today I have tried:
    1. Calling, receiving calls and receiving texts from these phones works fine, even today
    2. Checking the send/ receive has my number in both sections. I have also tried a variety of setting combinations here of imessage on off etc
    3. The same with the phone section and my number
    4. Installed latest IOS update
    5. Restored network settings
    6. Turned off and on again
    7. Taken sim card out and cleaned it
I would be very grateful of any further suggestions because I'm not sure at all why this isn't working today after not having knowingly changed anything since nye.
    Thank you!
Ask your cell phone provider SMS is a carrier feature.

  • My iphone can only text other iphones

I can only text to other iphones?

The iPhone can text other iPhones using iMessage. If you have set MMS and SMS to On, try contacting your carrier and having them make sure everything is setup correctly.

  • Why am I being charged to text another iPhone user from my iPhone

I have a pre-paid AT&T phone and am charged per text.   Normally it uses iMessage when I text other iPhone users and I am not charged.  When my friend that also has some kind of pre-paid, non-standard plan (not AT&T, t-molbie, or verizon) texts me on her iphone, I am charged for it.  Initally, I had some problems with being charged from other iphone users, but that may have been resolved when my IPad captured of the text first, before the phone did.
anyone had any experience with fixing this?

    Good point!

  • I can't text other iPhones

I just bought an iPhone 5s on bell and haven't been able to text certain contacts. I have been able to iMessage and text androids but texting won't work with any iPhone users. I've tried a few things bit nobody seems to be having the same problem. I have the new iOS.

iOS devices would not be receiving text messages if they have iMessage activated. iMessage messages are in a blue balloon, and text messages are in a green balloon. iMessage requires a data connection on both ends of the conversation, the sender and the receiver. I'm still not sure what you are experiencing, since you seem to have the two mixed up. You report being able to iMessage Android phones, and as I said earlier, you cannot do that. It is impossible.
If other iPhones are receiving iMessages, then you do not need to worry about texting them. Please try and explain a little more what the problem is, since your last reply states that you can iMessage other iPhones. If that is the case, nothing is wrong.

  • Can i use another iphone 4s just to back up my sim

Hello, i recently updated my 4s to ios7 which caused a whole bunch of problems as you are probably aware of. I took my 4s to apple, got fobbed off and sent to Carphone Warehouse where i got it from. I managed to get it swapped for a 5c by doing an early upgrade which they managed to get down to £50, however my sim had not backed up properly on my itunes or icloud so when i restored everything onto the new 5c, I lost all my game saves etc.
I still have the old 4s sim, but not the iphone as it was traded in as part of the deal. But my wife still has her 4s because she never updated it to ios7.
So here are a few questions i have based on the above info...
Can i switch my wife's 4s sim out temporarily for my old 4s sim just so i can connect to itunes or icloud and back it up?
Will my sim now work in her phone with her having the older version of ios?
Will my sim naff up her phone because my phone had ios7 on it and made it faulty?
Can i still back up the sim even though the number has been transferred to my new sim already?
And if i can back it up, will i be able to re-restore this back up to my 5c without issue?
The 4s was my first apple product so i'm not very confident with just going ahead with things as i am worried it will not work or that i will naff up my wife's 4s so any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

The iPhone does not store anything at all on the SIM. There is nothing on it to back up.

  • Why am I getting an error message when texting another iPhone number saying destination format incorrect?

I have been texting a uk phone numer for sometime with no problems but am now getting an error message saying" sorry destination number format incorrect " what can I do?

Nope, that's not it. I'm having exactly the same issue with someone I'm still in contact with. It's really bizarre but it only appears to affect a few contacts and the number formats are identical to others that work fine. Bizarre.

  • How can I find anothe IPhone ( my daughter) how could I add her number to my find my iPhone account or using my Apple ID and account. Basically how could I add more then 1

I would like to know if I can have more then 1 line on find my I phone app. Basically I need to locate my teenage daughter and if she is telling the truth where she is at. How can I add her number on my app obviously with my apple id and passcode. And do this from my device?

You can download Apple free Find My iPhone app.
    Click this link: https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/find-my-iphone/id376101648?mt=8
With that you can use your daughter Apple ID & password to locate her iPhone.
You can of course locate any other Apple devices.

  • How can I delete another iPhone from my iTunes accounts?

My now ex-girlfriend is tied to my itunes accounts and still using my apps. how can i delete her from using them with hooking it back up to the my computer?

    Change your password.
This will stop her form using your account.
She will be able to use any apps that are on her device, until she syncs with her own computer.

  • Can you see an iphone user typing a text to another recipient

When I am texting another iphone user, I can see them typing a reply but sometimes no message ever arrives. Is it possible they are typing a text to another recipient?

No.  What that means is that they were typing (or had at least one character in the message), but then if the bubble disappears, they cancelled out of the text message.

  • TS2755 I don't have an iPhone. My friend does and we have been texting for 5 months now and all of a sudden I can't revcieve her messages. I can message any other iPhone no problem and she has no problem texting other people as well. What is happening?

I don't have an iPhone. My friend does and we have been texting for 6 months and havn't had any problems. All of a sudden I cannot get her text messages. She revieces mine but i cannot recieve her's. I can also text other iPhone users with no difficulty at all.
    What is happening?

I would have your friend first do a reset on her iPhone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. Also, SMS is a carrier feature and if she is having trouble, she might want to contact her carrier and have them double check her account provisioning. It might just need a reset on their end.
