Can't tie new AX&Emac to exisitng AX network

I've got a new AX hooked to an eMac through the ethernet port. The signal from my old box is strong, and I can get the new box to give off it's own signal as a base station, but I can't make it a receiver to my existing box. I even tried reading the manual!
When I start Airport Assistant (contrary to the manual) I'm only given options to set up a new base station and change settings on an existing station. No option for becoming a client.
In Admin Utility, when I configure the AX to join an existing network, the network name doesn't come in. If I type it in, suddenly the new AX disappears from the admin utility and the Setup assistant. I can't access it at all. I have to do a hard reset of the box to get it to show up on the emac again. While I could see it, I upgraded the firmware & setup assistant to the latest versions.
However, the light turns green. Is it connected to the existing AX network? I dunno. My ethernet connection in the System Preferences>Network>Show Network Status pane is now gone. When I try to do a Network Diagnostics run all of the Airport options are grayed out.
According to the help files, Internet Connect is supposed to give me some options to test/run Airport. All I've ever gotten there is connect via Modem.
Just for fun, I tested the ethernet cable, and that works fine too. Any ideas? Bad Box? Bad Ethernet port? Bad design?

Update- Dry information. Spent the night learning about WDS, and tried using that. I placed my two AX boxes right next to each other, with both connected to my router. This gave me control of both from my G4. Pulled all the security off both. Went to the Config>WDS pane for the base station. Made sure both boxes checked, and hit + to scan for the second AX. Main found remote (at one inch separation I'd hope so). But the remote continued to blink an amber light.
Added Security to Base station-Reset WDS-Main found remote station, but security not automatically added to remote. Added security to remote, went back to base station to reset WDS. Oy. But the Remote station still only has a blinking amber light.
Moved the remote back to the location it's supposed to be-about 10 feet from the base. Restarted the router-Base station-Emac-remote station. And-wonder of wonder, miracle of miracles, it works.
I'm posting these notes incase someone else needs to configure their system, they don't have to go through the same pain & agony. CM

Can't download new bb messenger, have to verify network?

Im onto my 6th Blackberry! Curve 8520.
I downloaded the new blackberry update onto it, but it still has the old blackberry messenger, I went onto blackberry app world and it downloaded a lot and then suddenly said something about blackberry app world not being able to connect and that I have to verify my network?
I downloaded twitter off blackberry app world and it downloaded fine !
Can anyone tell me what to do?
P.S. its not my contract package or anything, I can access the internet via my network and everything

Can't connect new macbook to D-Link wireless network

Just purchased a new aluminum 13" macbook last weekend. I have an existing D-Link DIR-655 wireless router with 2 Dell laptops, 2 iPhones, and 1 Sirius Stilleto connected with WAP Personal Security and MAC address filtering working just fine. I added the new macbook's MAC address to the router but the macbook will only connect to the wireless network using WEP (with MAC address filtering), but not WAP (with or without the MAC address filtering on). When I try to connect with WAP I get one of two messages - either "connection failed" or "incorrect password". I've verified the password. Any suggestions?

Contacting your ISP would be the best thing to do. If you haven't already, Apple put out the Airport Update 2008-004 which updates a lot of issues with the aluminum Macbooks wireless. I have the new one also and that update fixed a lot of my problems. But if you are still having a problem you are best calling your internet service provider (ISP).

You can create a new account (e.g. via this page), but you can't currently copy or transfer content from one account to another - so anything that was bought or downloaded via your account will remain tied to your account

10G db console - who gets access to it can you tie it down?

Hi Guys
I'm a newbie - with a certain amount of knowledge and lack of management support (I'm the only person in the sys admin team with Oracle knowledge - and have done certs). Forgive me for asking the obvious.
My interpretation of 10g's installation of the "console" is that it is designed to make the job of managing a database easier for DBA's.
Previously, with 9i console - I could enable other teams to have access to the whole of the database structure - but only as read only users and not give them sys/system or even dba access - but they could still have access to the structure under that user.
Although 10g has the console - the old Enterprise Management Console still works with 10g as it did with 9i - and they can still see exactly what they did before - but not change anything.
However, we are now in a situation where we have a new person in GIS team who insists they are an Oracle DBA (done one course on Oracle) and want all rights (as they had it in their previous job which was a much smaller organisation than we have) to the db console.
The license they have is for Oracle Standard only.
Have explained - they can have DB console but only for a standalone instance (not yet created - so they don't get it until the intance is created) and asked why they want the DB console and how will they use it?
I got no answers but was told to leave the meeting as I was preventing them from doing "their" job - so I left.
The DB console is designed for DBAs to manage the environment in a more newbie friendly way, yes?
The DB console actually does control how the database works - and has facilities for DBA functions RMAN management, tablespace management/creation, users etc, normal DBA stuff, yes?
And if you don't have the licence to monitor performance - well then you either disable or ignore? It can do some powerful stuff - but since we have TOAD and SPOTLIGHT - that's what we use to monitor overall.
My question is - do you allow - non DBA's access to db console - and how do you set them up as users to just see certain tablespaces?
What I've read so far - not extensive - the DB console user has to have the DBA role at least for it function?
Or have I missed something and I can give this person the rights - but only allow them read only?
Also, I wonder why would you need the db console - if you are a GIS officer?
This person has also asked for a server totally under his control - at no cost in terms of licenses.
In the meeting that person saidthat they didn't need any Oracle licenses for a test-bed environment.
I explained that since it was a corporate environment that licensing - even if just a named user as a test generic - as long as it wasn't concurrent - was required.
I was told by this person that Oracle test environments were free in a corporate environment and I was talking rubbish.
I have multiple test environments in our place - and by multiple I mean 20 test environments - and those guys have all paid for their licences based on what I've told the Oracle account person direct - and our test environment is named users only - and I monitor it closely.
These new GIS guys - have never talked to me about licenses or been involved with an Oracle account manager.
But they say Oracle is free?
The DB console is the main issue - license - I've already told them to cough up!
DB console = contol the database - you can create tablespaces etc.
So can I tie them down if I give them db console to read only - everything I've read so far says no because it's not designed for anything other than dba's?

Armed with your reply, I showed my line manager what db console is and does.
I agree with you - and think often people ask for these things - DBA's put the brakes on but unless Managers undestand too what these things do - they assume anyone asking to have access should have it - in the same way as asking for other "applications".
Sometimes as DBA's we try and put the brakes on - as I was doing - but then unless line managers understand - we're seen as being deliberately obstructive.
Although having asked many times why the said person feels they need - they do have the old Enterprise Manager console access on their machine but set-up so they can just see a limited amount (although much, much more than they need).
Based on the previous team - all they wanted was a pretty GUI picture of how many tablespaces there were and what objects were in the tablespace (although they should have known the objects as they put them there in most cases via the GIS application which also enables them too see the same in GUI form) but at that stage, the team were also developing a new database structure - so teaching them and giving them access to Enterprise Manager helped them understand more about how Oracle was structured underneath the hood but they only had readonly access and only to what their schemas contained.
Although I know the new db console is there with 10g - it's not been installed with a service to run except on one test database (not set-up by me) which always seems to hang on shutdown because of the emagent process on the server.
We use TOAD and Spotlight, SQL Plus - and so I haven't yet felt the need to use the console.
However, I did quickly whizz through stuff to see if I could easily just enable them to see via the console via the web, access to schemas, tablespaces and objects only, but couldn't find and easy way of setting up a user account that just gave them that only. Admittedly, I haven't had time to experiment.
The console seems to be designed as a DBA tool - albeit one that is more GUI friendly - rather than something to be used by non-DBAs just to look at the database structure.
Is that the case in your experience? - and have you found a way just to enable a user read-only access to leap to the tab with tablespace management and schema management for that user (who created the tables) only?

Can't create new sites in Dreamweaver CS3. Help!

I am trying to create a new site in Dreamweaver CS3 but keep
getting the following error:
"The action cannot be completed because the other program is
busy.
Choose 'Switch to' to activate the program and correct the
problem"
I have tried every documented solution on the adobe website
and other discussion forums and still cannot get past the problem.
I have restarted the IIS server on my local PC as documented
on the following adobe technote:

Other things I have done:
1. I have followed all the advice in the links at the bottom
of the above page.
2. I have created a new user, logged into that and tried
creating a site with a "virgin" environment
and I still have the problem.
3. I have gone into the registry and renamed the site
configuration info in case something was corrupted.
This removed all my site configurations. No help!
4. I have turned of my firewall and restarted the IIS
server.
5. I have searched the web for anything even remotely
similar to this error and tried every tip out there.
I called Adobe and they referred me back to the technote
above, which I had already tried.
One last bit of info. I can't create new sites, but I can
edit web pages in my existing sites. However, I cannot change the
configuration of the website in the Manage Sites area (i.e. I can't
push the Edit button).
Has anyone had this problem? Any help would be appreciated. I
have hit a brick wall on this one and am trying to meet a deadline
on a new website I need to create.
If I can't find a solution quick, I will be an
ex-Dreamweaver user. That saddens me because I really like
Dreamweaver, but I have to perform on my job.

If you disassociate the device from your AppleID and tie it to another one, you cannot use yours to control the other. They will be separate and independent. For better or worse, the AppleID authentication and authorization model was not designed with kids in mind.

Custom Connector Tool - How can I tie into LV IDE?

In my spare time I have written a little tool to help me wire the connector pane, similar in spirit to the icon editor. The eyestrain and wrist pain from going back and forth across the FP was one thing, but all of my mice seem to be junky making it very hard to hit some of the small connectors. Enter LV scripting again. My question is, how can I tie this into the LV IDE. Right now I put an LLB into my project folder and I can call the editor from the 'Tools' menu. This is not bad, but my dream would be to hook into the right-click menu used to launch the icon editor. Is this possible? I thought of editing the icon editor to give me a choice, but that seems clunky.
If you want to play with my editor, I have attached a copy. Put this LLB into your project folder (LV8.6 up) and after you relaunch LV, you should have an 'Edit Connector Pane...' entry in the tools menu. Select this item to edit that VIs connector pane. Still a work-in-progress, but I am never going back to the old-fashioned way. Before I take it to the next level, I'd like to know how to tie it in.
I may add rotation, but the next connector pane I rotate will be my first. This version is password protected since I don't want anybody who may take the CLD exam seeing how I stuff a QSM into the Timeout event case to save an extra loop.
The basics: On the left you have an image of the FP, you can select the target control by clicking in the image (if you like doing it the hard way). In the connector pane on the right, clicking drops the target into a connection, and auto-increments the target. You can use up and down arrows to select the target control. If you click an existing connection, the target is dropped and the old connection becomes the new target. Shift-clicking will grab an existing connection. Left and right arrows change the wire rule. Commit makes the changes to the VI. If the button says 'Close' all changes are commited and the VI will exit when you press it, if it says 'Cancel' pressing it will discard the last set of changes. Notice that you can also add descriptions to the controls.

In case your interested in pursuing your own solution for right click integration, here is a snippet that gets the mouse button, coordinates and modifier using .Net. Sometimes I like to solve my own problems to expand my own knowledge, never know where it might come in handy.
I guess the JKI right click framework is great, but having to install that package delivery system really gets under my skin personally. But then again, it probably has its perks too. To each their own I guess.
Bear in mind this snippet is a proof of concept only, the MSDN API, I stumbled across looking to solve another problem. So no error handling or even proper coding technique. The next step would be to actually get the mouse button to fire a call back event, so you do not need to continuously monitor, but then again, I am filing this in the sandbox to play with another day.

Restart with the Option key held down.
If the internal drive shows up, it's the PRAM battery.
If it doesn't, insert a compatible Mac OS 9 or X install disk, click the button with the circular arrow, and either repair the internal drive or install a new OS on it. If it doesn't show up in Disk First Aid(9) or the Disk Utility(X), it's either not plugged in or needs to be replaced.

You would need to purchase it within the country in which your are trying to use it. CDMA devices are tied to a specific carrier (for example, a Sprint CDMA iPhone will not work on Verizon's CDMA network). I'd contact the carrier your interested in using.

It is possible to see the 3 DSO tables data in through SE16. May be you do not have authorization to see data through SE16.

I can't save *new* documents back to SharePoint

I can’t save *new* documents back to SharePoint. We have a SharePoint 2013 development environment, running on Windows Server 2012 and a Windows 7 Client Computer with Office 2010.
Every time I click „new document“, SharePoint opens the corresponding template file in the client application (Word, Excel,…) So far, so good. When i select „Save“, the client application brings up a local save path on the client computer, not the SharePoint
document library.
I did some research and tried many approaches, but none of them worked.
I installed the Desktop Experience Feature on the Windows Server 2012, added the server address to trusted sites, gave the user farm-administrator rights (to make sure it is no security problem) and switched the authentication mode for the web application.
Does anyone know this problem and found a solution?

For troubleshooting your issue, you can try to add a registry value to your local registry (on a machine with Office Applications installed through which you are accessing SharePoint sites):
Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Multi-String Value.
Type AuthForwardServerList, and then press ENTER.
On the Edit menu, click Modify.
In the Value data box, type the URL of the server that hosts the Web share, and then click OK.
Note You can also type a list of URLs in the Value data box. For more information, see the "Sample URL list" section in this article.
Exit Registry Editor.
