Can't transfer HDC-TM700 to FCE

I just bought a macbook Pro with mountain lion. Thing is on my old macbook, I had no problem with the 1080i60 transfer to FCE but it doesn't work with log and transfer on the new macbook Pro. I've tried all of the easy setups in preferences and don't know how I got it to work on my old macbook. As a last resort, I imported the video into iMovie and imported the iMovie file - that worked - but want to use the direct log and transfer function in the future.

Hello, and welcome to the Apple Communities!
I suspect the difference compared to your "old macbook" is that FCE is not supported on Mountain Lion.  FCE was discontinued even before Lion was released, and isn't even supported on Lion much less Mountain Lion.
How did you even get FCE installed on a new MBP with Mountain Lion?
One other thing that comes to mind is that you need the FCE 4.0.1 update in order to effectively use AVCHD video ... do you have that update installed?
Another thing to look into is whether  you recorded in 1080p or 1080i mode.  FCE only supports 1080i mode.  If I recall correctly, iMovie will capture both 1080p and 1080i.
Exactly what version of OS X do you have installed on your "old macbook"?

  • Panasonic HDC SD5 - Can't transfer ADCHD clips to FCE

A relative has owned a HDC SD5 Panasonic HD Camera for a couple of years, and today bought FCE4 installing on his iMac. Using log and transfer, he selects the clips he wants to transfer, but once finished they do not go into the project folder on the left hand side. He has also tried to drag them to the project folder but gets a red exclamation mark.
I thought it might be a problem with the card, so he formatted a blank card, did a few minutes filming and tried to transfer this, but again the same problem. The camera has .mts files on the SD, can these be imported to FCE?
Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated how to get his footage from recent holidays.
    Thanks
    Matt

so far only Pinnacle Studio 14 can recognize MTS files and HDTV movies
and of course connect to any camera
also for rendering and burning your movies Pinnacle Studio 14 works great
I have tried FCE4 iMovie nothing works at all
and got really frustrated as soo many easy task just can't be done with a Mac
Panasonic has many patches for Mac and PC
on it's web site only the PC stuff works
but is not needed with Pinnacle Studio 14

  • Can I transfer FCP smarts to FCE?

My work is offering tuition reimbursement. I can get Apple certified in Final Cut Pro and they will pay for it, but here's the problem: I do not have the cash to buy Final Cut Pro after the class is done. I was wondering if it would be a waste to buy Final Cut Express - or would the skills I learn in FCP training transfer easily to FCE?

You can certainly apply what you've learned to FCE (they work the same way), but you will likely find yourself hindered in many regards-- at least that's how I feel when I use FCE. Many of the more advanced functions are not present.

  • Can I transfer Home Movies to DvD via Encore and FCE?

I have been trying to figure out a way to transfer my inlaws' home videos from VHS tapes and HI8 8mm tapes to my computer to burn them to DVD. I have been unsuccessful so far. I thought about just taking them to a transfer place, but there are roughly 30 tapes and I need 6 copies of each one. Any thoughts, recommendations, or links to helpful threads would be appreciated.
I don't know what format/resolution to transfer from into the computer or what will work best to burn out to DvD.
I have been told that I can't transfer directly into FCE without a firewire port (which this computer does not have) so I have been using a MyGica iGrabber to transfer files in.

  • FCP compatibility with 60p mode of Panasonic HDC-TM700 vid camera.

    Hello,
I'm trying to determine if FCP can handle the 60p mode of Panasonic's new HDC-TM700 video cam. It appears that iMovie 09 and FCE are not able to yet. Anyone have any experience with this combination?
    Many thanks,
    Jon

HDV is highly compressed, probably compressed more than any other format any camera shoots. The format is an MPEG stream. (takes a long time to render effects etc with it, however FCP 6 improved it a bit. You can capture native via firewire, then render to ProRes faster... it's a setting found in the sequence's settings.
There is a list of qualified devices for FCP here: http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/resources/devicelist.php
Might take a peek there if no one can confirm that your camera of choice works.

  • Trouble with capture from HDC TM700

Can someone help me. I have Windows 7, 64 bit
system, CS5 Prem Pro. Am getting a capture device offline when trying to
capture from HDC TM700(PAL). Panasonic assures me that this wont work on a 64 bit system, but
I have read other forums that tells me this is rubbish. Have tried to set up device control, using de
vice type as standard. When I aked a panasonic support person what the devi
ce type to use was I got "Camcorder",( and all this time I thought it was a house brick!!).
    What do I do now?

Thanks very much, understand much better now,
am only just getting my head around all of this and have been going in circles for days,
Panasonic persons suggested 1394 cables and third party capture cards and god knows what else
thanks so much  to you and Colin for taking your time to answer me with some sense. I did look around the Adobe sight
but it is hard when you are not really sure what you are looking for in a minefield of great info

  • IMovie'11 support for Panasonic HDC-TM700

    Hi,
I am considering the purchase of the Panasonic HDC-TM700 camcorder. The iMovie compatibility list has an entry for this camcorder with the note that 1080p/60fps is not supported. I would ASSUME that this camcorder can be set for 1080p/30fps as well but I have not been able to find an on-line manual or other specification that lists anything but 1080p/60. Can anyone confirm that this camera could also be set to 1080p/30fps?
    Thanks.

The TM700 is a great camcorder. Despite being an avid iMovie HD (iM 6) supporter, I have started using iMovie 11 and it has won me over a bit. Still prefer iM6, but 11 is on the right road.
I use the SD600 (little brother to the TM700) and if you are prepared for a bit of extra work, it works fine with iMovie.
This range of camcorders record in standard AVCHD (1080i) and this can be imported into iMovie with no bother at all. This is the same top quality footage the most good HD camcorders shoot at the moment. You can save yourself a few headaches and simply record in standard AVCHD at top quality and I'm sure you will be more than satisfied with the result.
The only problem comes, that these Panasonics also 'raise the bar' and record in an even higher new format called 1080p50 or 60. This is AVCHD in almost every respect, but is Progressive, takes a fair bit of processing power and as a new format, isn't universally recognised. iMovie doesn't recognise these video clips as AVCHD movie files and so won't work with it, hence that proviso in the supported cameras list. As I say, you don't have to record in 1080p (progressive rather than interlaced) it is just an additional option available to you.
I do however record in this top quality and there are a couple of extra steps required. The movies can't be viewed with quicktime or iMovie, but players like VLC or Movist play them no problem. Secondly, these video files have to be converted to a format that is recognised by iMovie if you want to edit them. I use the free Automater script Rewrap2M4V but there are others such as ClipWrap and Voltaic that will also do the job for you. Once converted they can be imported into iMovie like any other movie file and the quality is excellent, and hopefully as the format becomes accepted, then the files may be able to be imported without conversion.

  • Not recognizing hdc-tm700

iMovie '11 suddenly doesn't recognize my Panasonic HDC-tm700 when I plug it in to import video. Has anyone experienced this and have a solution? Thank you.

You can't have A3 and leave A4 empty. Same with B3/4.
With six, you need 4 on A and a pair on B.
Pairs are on the same Riser, not 'across' Risers.
A2 is linked to A1, same for A4 linked to A3 to make 'pairs.'

  • Choice of camcorder: Canon Legria HF G10 vs Panasonic HDC-TM700?

    Some advice pls:
Would like to update my camcorder - to a prosumer quality (or high end consumer).
I use FCP X (and love it) but am torn between
    Canon Legria HF G10
    or,
    Panasonic HDC-TM700
    Any advice?
I currently use the SD-9 Panasonic, and am not happy with low-light shots (way too Lossy).  Has compression technology improved in the last 3 years, or will I be disappointed with either of the above model's approach to compression?
    Thanks
    Rob

The SD-9 is a fine little camera from several years back.  Its claim to fame was its small size and early use of SD cards.  I think its highest bit rate was only about 15Mbps however.  The G10 uses a bigger sensor, much more advanced compression processing.  Honestly, when I have clips from my pro Sony HVR-Z5U HD camcorders on the timeline next to clips from the G10, it is very hard to tell the difference.  The G10 is actually much more color accurate than the pro Sonys.
Furthermore, the G10 is a breeze to connect to the computer and use the Import from Camera in FCP X.  The G10 comes with 32GB built in with two SD slots to go beyond that.  I also have the HF M41 that uses the same sensor and has 2 SD card slots, but I never even have to use SD cards on the G10 unless I want to add them.  It has a automatic relay mode that goes to the next storage SD slot when it has filled up the previous one.  Thus you can use the internal 32 GB with a couple of other 32GB SD cards to get over 12 hours of the highest quality (24Mbps) video recorded.  You can even specify to record to both SD cards at the same time so you have an automatic backup of your work.
Check out the detail on that review site I gave you.  It's the best ... I'm not a cheerleader for it ... just stating the facts.  I am very, very impressed.  One of the best buys I have ever made in video work.  Best wishes.

  • How can i transfer my music from one account to another on a different computer?

So i have an itunes account on dell laptop and i share that account with other famliy members. I recently bought a mac pro and wanted to create a new account that way i can use icloud, is there any possible way to transfer everything from my old library to my new one or will i lose everything i had on my phone and ipods? Or is it possible to have one account but multiple icloud accounts?

    Lisa,
Just get copies of the song files and add them to your iTunes library.  With the exception of any DRM-protected files (purchased before mid-2009 and never upgraded) they will play fine, even though they are technically associated with the original account.

How can I transfer work from one computer to another?

    Welcome to the forum.
I can think of three basic ways to accomplish what you wish to do:
Use the Project Archiver to archive your Project (and check the box to gather the media files), to an external HDD. Probably the easiest way to do it.
Copy the Project and ALL media files to an external HDD, but be prepared to relink the media files to the Project, as the drive letter (part of the Absolute Path) will have changed.
Edit loosely, and Share to an AV file, which will be Imported into a New Project on that second computer. Or, edit VERY tightly, and do the same. I like the first, as removing, replacing Transitions, etc., can be much more difficult, unless that "tight edit" is 100% done.
    Good luck,

  • How can I transfer information from one ipad to another?

how can I transfer information from one ipad to another ?

What kind of information? You can sync things like Contacts and Calendars by using iCloud. You can backup one iPad to iTunes on a computer and then sync the backup to the other iPad. You can configure your iTunes content and sync the same content to both iPads.
It is based on what you want to do. Or are you looking for a way to send files from one iPad to another wirelessly? There are apps to do things like that, as well as cloud services, such as DropBox.

One way would be to e-mail them from yourself to yourself. That would totally avoid the different ID issue.

now i had bought apps with my old account. but when i sync them into my phone i cant update them using my account, i need the old itunes i had. How can i transfer all bought apps onto my new account?

    You can't.
All 3rd party apps - all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account used to purchase/download the apps. DRM cannot be transferred from one account to another.
Why did you get a new iTunes account? Changing your email address alone does not require doing so.
