Can't transfer music to new computer, please help

My old computer crashed so I can't connect it to my new one to transfer my songs. I plugged my ipod into the new comp before downloading itunes and I save my playlists onto it in My Music. Then I downloaded itunes and tried to transfer my music into my library. It says theres an error and the songs can't transfer. Also, the ipod's songs pop up when I click on the ipod but they're gray and I can't highlight, move, play, or acceses them in anyway. I reeaallly don't want to download my 800+ songs all over again so any tips will be appreciated!

I'm new to this Discussions Forum but I've notice so many people with the same problem as u...I guess I'll just post my solution here n hope it relieves some of everyone's headaches..
I've discovered a way to preserve my ipod songs n transfer it into my new computer. It took
me quite a while to figure it out so if it also work for u, please give credits where
credit is due~ ^_^ MyMyMai
Follow these steps for Windows XP users:
1) Go to "Start"
2) Go to "Control Panel" n click on it.
3) Click on "Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices"
4) Click on "Portable Media Devices", then a list of ur portable devices should pull up,
including ur ipod.
5) Click on ur ipod, then it should pull up folders named "Calendars" "Contacts" "Notes"
"iPod_Control" n "Photos"
6) Click on the "iPod_Control" folder, it should pull up several folders named "Artwork"
"Device" "iTunes" n "Music"
7) Click on the "Music" folder which would bring up several folders named "F00" "F01" "F02"
and so on and so forth.
8) All you have to do is copy n paste ALL the folders onto ur new hard drive, like ur
desktop or "My Music" folder.
9) Open up ur new itune on ur new computer, go to "file", "add folder to library", and
click on ur "My Music" folder or each "F00" folders on ur desktop.
All the songs should transfer into ur new iTune library. Hope this helps!

No since you can only sync with one computer.
    To switch syncing computers:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities

i have new ipad2 and the iTunes have only podcasts and iTunes U options. I simply can't download music or vidoes. Please help!

Not all content types are available in all countries, and unfortunately where you are you will only have apps, podcasts, iTunes U and free books - the full list of what is available where is shown on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3599 . As the terms of use of the stores state that you can only use your own country's store, you also can't get music or films from Apple from other country's stores.
Are there other music and/or film purchase download sites that you can use in the UAE ? For music you can also copy your own CDs and sync them to the iPad

  • Can I transfer music from my computer to ipad?

Before I buy an iPad, I have some questions. Sorry if I sound dumb, but I've not had a tablet before.
Can I transfer music from my computer to my ipad? I do not plan to purchase itunes.
Can I download apps like kindle and nook to get books from my local library and other sources?
Can I get a pdf reader app so I can download them to my ipad?
Can I put movies on my ipad from my computer?
    Thanks.

You can sync music and other content to an iPad via your computer's iTunes (a free download from here) - you don't have to purchase anything in order to use the program. You can buy music from Apple, from other sites and/or copy your own CDs via iTunes, and then sync them to the iPad via iTunes.

I don't know what country that you are in, but there is a Kindle app available for the iPad in a number of countries (the app is free) which can be linked to your Amazon account so you can download your kindle ebooks into it. There are also Nook and Kobo ereader apps.
There are also a number of PDF reader apps for the iPad, some of them free like Apple's iBooks and Adobe Reader, and some which are paid-for which are more powerful e.g. GoodReader.
Films can be purchased from Apple, or there are other sites such as Netflix with their own apps. The iPad natively supports a number of video formats (they are listed on this page).
There is a manual for the iPad here which has some info on it's built-in apps (plus iBooks which is a free download) : http://support.apple.com/manuals/ipad/

  • My computer died suddenly. Can I transfer Ipod to New Comput

    Hi!
My computer died all of a sudden and all my music (files, programs etc.) are gone. Gone. Gone. No backups for music. I bought a new Toshiba laptop and just downloaded iTunes. But now what am I supposed to do? My iPod mini has about 400 songs in it. If I connect my iPod mini to my new computer/iTunes, what would happen? Would my iPod mini and new iTunes (zero songs) try to synchronize? Would I lose all my music in my iPod? Is there any way to transfer music from my iPod mini to my new iTune library? B/c my computer died all of a sudden, I just didn't have time to transfer music files to iPod mini hard drive(? or whatever it is that we need to do when we want to transfer music to a new computer.) Please help me!

  • How to download purchased music onto new computer (please)?

How can I get my purchased music back onto a new computer? Old one crashed, only had some of my music on the ipod. I've followed some posts to get the ipod music back to the computer, but I see songs in itunes purchase history that are not showing up anywhere (that I can see). Is there any way to get these back? I tried the option that iTunes lists for downloading purchased music, but these didn't seem to download. Can anyone help? I'm not real computer savvy so please explain it "for dummies." thanks

    JustMeAndYou,
    For what it's worth ...
Apple's policy is clear: iTS purchases can be downloaded only once. It is your responsibility to make back-ups . (For most people, this will involve either CD's/DVD's or an external drive .)
That being said, at their discretion they have made one-time exceptions to this policy. You can ask for an exception by submitting the form on this page:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/browser/
Good Luck! But whatever the response from Apple, remember:
Your music is valuable - please back it up!

  • HT3819 Can I transfer music from one computer to another via home sharing?

Can I transfer my music from one computer to another via home sharing?

So long as they are on the same wifi network, yes.
Have both computers running and have iTunes open on both computers.
Now, in the iTunes on the computer you want to transfer music to, select the library that you want to transfer music from, as per the following screenshot:
Once the other library loads, go down to the bottom of the screen and in "Show:" select "Items not in my library":
If you want to import all of the songs you can now see, head up to the iTunes menu bar and go "Edit > Select all". Then head down to the bottom of the screen again and click the "Import" button in the bottom-right-hand corner.
If there's a lot of stuff in the library you're transferring from, the transfer may take some time.

  • Lost old email and need to transfer music to new computer

My old email linked to an old itunes account was hacked and I no longer have access. I can't reset my password so i can't authorize my new computer to use the old music purchased. is there anything I can do?

With respect to backup, you were on the right track.  And I am not going to fault you for iCloud , but it is not really a system level backup facility.  And I would say the lightning comes under natural disaster.  Off-site can be taking a backup disk to a friend/family/office at work/bank safety deposit box, but somewhere that is not next door and is not in the same flood plain.  Or it can be a true cloud backup service (CrashPlan, Mozy, Carbonite, SugarSync, etc...).  NOTE: CrashPlan can be used in "Free" mode to backup across the net to a computer you control, or a friend/family members computer.  Just arrange to locate some storage there.  You can reverse the favor by hosting their CrashPlan backups on your system.
The new IMac has no firewire slot so it must be by USB . What about SATA?
You should have USB3, which is vary fast, and USB3 enclosure are not very expensive.  I would go that route.  If you want, you can get a Thunderbolt to Firewire adaptor, but I would only do that if you have some Firewire drives hanging around your house you wish to use.  SATA is the cabling between the enclosure controller and the disk itself.  Macs do not use eSATA, so that is not an option.  Besides USB3 is way faster than your disk itself.
Bear with me. My grandson is helping with this. I am too old for it.
Dude!  While I don't have any, my "Younger" sister is a "Grandmother"!  You can do anything if you want to.  And you seem to be doing very will.
NOTE:  If the old Mac disk is "Toast", hopefully you can put the LaCie disk into the USB enclosure and recover using that.

    Welcome to the discussion,
Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
    Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0
