Can't transfer old site into DW

NEED HELP !!!!
I have tried to transfer the old website through the process
described in "Dreamweaver8 For Dummies" and come up with nothing.
Is there a better process, I do not want to recreate the old
site (over 150 pages)
Thanks,
Jack

I don't have Dreamweaver8 for Dummies so I don't know what
process they took
you through but here is the simple answer.
1. Create an appropriately named folder on your local
machine.
2. Set up a new site definition in DW using the new folder
you just created
and the login and file transfer information (ftp, etc.) for
your existing
remote web site.
3. Once you have established a connection to the remote site,
click the
"Expand to show local and remote sites" icon on the files
panel.
4. "Get" all of the files from the remote site.
You can now edit these files on your local machine, without
re-creating any
of them, then "Put" them back to the remote server as you
complete editing
them.
As long as you are the only one working on the site, you can
continue to
edit and put files to the site as often as you like without
repeating these
steps...

  • Can you transfer old photos on your iPhone to iPad using iCloud?

I know that once you take a photo on your iPhone it will be pushed into the photo stream which can be accessed on your iPad and computer; however, Is there anyway you can wirelessly transfer old photos to your iPad that you took on your iPhone before iCloud came out?

Not without restoring your iPad to the entire backup of your phone, or using special 3rd party software (see http://www.imore.com/how-manually-transfer-app-data-your-iphone-5).  And even then the app data may not transfer if the iPad and iPhone versions are not compatible (you would have to contact the developer and ask).

  • How can i transfer a movie into my ipad from a different computer?

I had the original ipad. I download a digital copy of a movie into my personal laptop however all movies are downloaded originally from my wife's Macintosh. When I plug in the ipad into my Sony laptop, it states 'all movies will be lost" if I place the movie from a different computer. How can I transfer the movie into my ipad?

Put the movie onto whatever computer you use to sync.  Move the movie into i tunes, and sync.

What happens when you try to transfer them from the iPod back to your iTunes library?  Are these podcasts you originally downloaded from the iTunes Store or were they imported from outside of iTunes?

  • Can't get old songs into iTunes library

When I first started downloading iTunes it was going through my computer and putting my old songs into the library. Once it got done with the first 34 songs it quit putting any other songs into the library. Now I can't get any more of the songs into the library. How can I get the other songs into iTunes?

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

  • Can I transfer iWeb site to a DVD?

I have an iWeb site that runs well for my local U3A, it has about 60 pages. Most fit on a standard screen others are longer. Is it possible to transfer the site to a DVD so that in can play unattended on a TV in a room without an internet link. I can't think that it would be possible but someone out there may know better.
One possible alternative may be to transfer the material to a Keynote presentation but could that be transferred to DVD?
    Thanks
    David

No you can't do that and it would not work either.  You can burn the website to the DVD, but it would not do anything because you would either need to burn the iWeb files to the DVD, but they need iWeb to make it visible or you burn the html and css files to the DVD - that is the published site, but you need Safari, Chrome etc., to be able to view.  A website is meant to be published to a host and viewed on the internet and not a TV.
If you want to view a Keynote presentation, then you need to connect your computer to the TV or another monitor so you can view it from and control it from the computer.
What you want to do will not work.
If you want people to see an example of your website, then publish your website from iWeb to your desktop and then burn the published version to a DVD and give that to people so that they can play it in their computers and open it with Safari, Chrome etc and can see it - a website is not meant to be seen on a TV or burned to a DVD.

Can I transfer my old library of music files from PC iTunes to Mac iTunes? The old library is not purchased from iTunes, just songs imported over the years before I had access to iTunes.

  • Need help: Can't import old video into Final Cut Pro X or iMovie

I am trying to import some footage from my old camcorder into my iMac.
I have a Sony DVMC-DA1 connected via firewire. The setup works great in iChat. We were able to video chat to my wife's computer and she could see and hear the camcorder footage. iMovie does not recognize the device at all. Final Cut Pro recognizes it. It appears in the Camera Import window, but when I try to import some footage, nothing gets recorded. Oddly, there are two time counters in the import window. The one on the left increments as the footage 'imports' but the one on the right stays at zero.
My iMac is the newest 2011 model and I am using the latest versions of iMovie and FCPX.
How do I get either iMovie or FCPX to import my footage from the DVMC-DA1?

This guy did a tutorial for 2 free ways of importing video over FW:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVqkSlaTr-k
They both should accept any video over FW. The link for Vidi is old, here's where to find it: http://www.mitzpettel.com/
    Good luck.

  • New computer - can't transfer old itunes, problems importing cd's

Sorry the subjec area has multiple topics, but i've got issues. Long story short: computer completely broke. Can't even view screen to try and restore anything or remove programs. Now have HP dv6000. Since I can't move old itunes acct over to new computer, I've resorted to importing all my cd's again. For some reason, some cd's don't even come up when i put them in the drive. No message, no warning - nothing. I insert the cd and it just spins and spins. Is this an itunes issue or a HP issue? Is it because some cd's don't allow you to copy to more than one computer?
    Any suggestions?

You should probably post in the itunes forum, since it appears your question has little or nothing to do with ipods.
Where is your back up? Did you not maintain a back up of your music/pics/docs/etc?
You can copy a cd on as many computers as you like. Your problem is very likely not an itunes issue.

  • How can i transfer a site i made on iweb on my old computer onto my new computer?

  • How can I transfer a site that was made in iWeb to a new web design service? Please tell me I don't have to build again from scratch!!

I have a site that I update for a large group of educators.  It has years of info and pages and it was all created in iWeb.  It's a great site and people rely on it!  I found out that iWeb is going away and I need to find a way to keep updating this site asap.  Help!!
PS:  IMO Apple should be making a web design app that supports the continuation of sites built in iWeb AND has the ability to update them with all the design features that they claim iWeb isn't equipped to handle instead of throwing us all out on the street.  If this does exist, and I don't know it, please, someone tell me!

You don't need to upgrade to Mt Lion to use iWeb 3.  It works fine in Lion and Mt Lion. Read the following for use if iWeb in Lion and Mt Lion.
In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

My site loads fine and the web address is still working. However I cannot find the files in iWEB to edit the site. Please help!

iWeb stores its files in a "domain" file. The file is located in your user Library -> Application Support -> iWeb Folder.
Unless it has been moved or deleted, it should still be there. Double click it and see if it launches with your data.
If it's been moved somewhere, you'd need to find it.
However, if the domain file you were using has been deleted and not backed up somewhere, you would need to start from scratch.
    Good luck!

  • How can I transfer old emails from my ipad to my new  i mac

I have just purchased a new IMac and am trying to get my pop account emails from my ipad into mail on the new imac, does anyone know how I can do this?

Thanks for that. I'm always a bit concerned about losing data from one to the other, I have no way to back up emails on I pad. If I sync will it take all emails that aren't on the computer and transfer them. I was under the impression that it would only sync email account details.
