Can't transfer playlists to ipod with new iTunes

Hi,
I've just upgraded to iTunes 11.0,0.163 on a Wiundows 7 PC.
Since the upgrade I can't transfer any playlists across to my ipod.
I select my ipod then select "Add To". I then try to drag the playlist over to the ipod (as per the tutorial video) but nothing happens.
I've tried a number of playlists with the same result. All was working fine yesterday prior to the upgrade.

Well now I feel like a complete idiot......
I've just realised that I was trying to drag Albums rather then Playlists.

  • Can not view Podcasts on iPod with new iTunes

I just installed the newest release of iTunes for Win XP (7.1.1.5) and now I can't see any of my Podcasts on my iPod (I have an iPod mini). I want to delete some of the podcasts from my iPod, but not all of them. And since I can't view them (I can only view MUSIC) I can't do that.
    Any suggestions?

Thanks for the posting to my question.
But the Podcasts currently on my iPod are not in my iTunes (I delete them after transferring to my iPod as I don't want to get confused which are new and which are old...).
So the problem is my inability to access my podcasts that are on my iPod as I want to delete the ones I've already listened to... If you have another guess I'd be very happy to give it a try.

  • My iPod Classic is synced with an old iTunes account.  How can I transfer this music to my new iTunes account?

My iPod Classic is synced with an old iTunes account.  How can I transfer this music to my new iTunes account?

If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
    1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
    2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
    3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.

  • ITunes was on a drive destroyed by virus; how can i sync my iPod with new iTunes on new computer without losing my old library? There is no backup iTunes/iPod files available.

how can i sync my iPod with new iTunes on new computer without losing my old library? There is no backup iTunes/iPod files available.

If you connect your ipod to your computer then look in the hidden folder labeled "iPod_Control" . (This is on a Mac version, but i think it's the same for Windows) and in "Music" is all your music mixed up in different folders. Just drag the MUSIC folder onto itunes then BAM! It's done ;D

Yes you can stop iTunes from auto opening. With your iPod connected go to the "Main" menu of the iPod on iTunes.
Remove the check mark in the first box shown.

  • Can't transfer tunes on iPod to new computer...

I purchased a new computer and am trying to transfer the music on my iPod to the iTunes library I set up on the new computer. It instructs me to go to "Store / Authorize" which I do. It then says I am now authorized for 2 of 5 libraries. But I still can't seem to transfer the music. I am not using my original computer anymore. Any advice? Thanks.

I presume you are aware that iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer as per the instructions in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • After PC crash, can I load info from IPod to new ITunes library?

My laptop crashed and Dell reconfigured it back to factory settings. My ITunes library was deleted. I downloaded ITunes again but now it doesn't recognize the data from my IPod. How can I load the data from my IPod into the new ITunes library? Is there anyway to "reverse sync"?

1). Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content only from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.

  • Long time to update iPod with new iTunes

Is there a reason why my iPod takes forever to update with the new iTunes? It seems like it takes much longer, and it seems like its not even doing anything. What can I do to speed it up?
    Thanks.

Agreed. ITunes seems to recognize the Ipod as quickly as it did before I upgraded, and to transfer the files about as fast. When this process is complete, after the files have been transferred, in the little space at the top (that had shown progress in transferring files) the message says "Ipod update is complete" and "OK to disconnect" - but it isn't complete, and it isn't OK. At the left of ITunes, where the Ipod can be selected (and disconnected from ITunes), the whirling symbol indicating update in progress can still be seen, and an attempt to disconnect the Ipod from ITunes yields a message saying update still in progress.
An extra five minutes isn't a tragedy; still, I have no idea why transferring the files used to be the end of the update, but no longer is.

  • How do I sync two different ipods with new iTunes software?

Up until I upgraded to the new software, I was able to quickly and easily sync both my iPods. One is an iPod touch; the other a classic. Now, I can't sync my classic. Any idea why or what I'm doing wrong? This new software, IMHO, is not that intuitive.

  • Transfer playlists from ipod to new pc

I just had to reimage my PC and forgot to back-up my playlists on my external drive.  They all exist on both an ipod touch and an iPhone - how can I save these without rebuilding them from scratch?
I have all of the files, but not the playlists - when i hook up either to sync, it will delete all info from each device as it sees this as a new library.
Please help - trying to avoid the tedious hours of recreating about 45 playlists.
    Thanks!
