Can't transfer purchased music from iTunes to iPod

When I try to transfer purchased music from my Itunes music folder to my iPod, I get the following error message: "Some of the iTunes Store files in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPod because the iPod may only contain content from five iTunes Store accounts."
What I have done to try to address the problem: I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes, (it was only after this download, actually, that I began to have the problem) read the help article entitled "Some songs in iTunes won't copy to iPod", de-authorized and then re-authorized the computer (didn't work) and gone through my iPod to delete any songs that were on burned cds given to me by friends, which potentially originated from other iTunes accounts.
Perhaps I have overlooked something, but my iPod is only registered on three computers, and I am unable to transfer my purchased music to my iPod. Interestingly, I had no problem transfering my purchased songs onto my iPod before upgrading to the latest version of iTunes last month. It has only been since the upgrade that I can no longer transfer purchases. I subscribe to several podcasts through National Public Radio (free)-- could this be a factor?
Please help. I still have 19 GB of free space and if I can't transfer purchases, then it's kind of a waste of space. Thanks so much for your time~

Greetings from Mancunia.
I am having a similar problem. After years of trouble free use, my 'pod is now giving me trouble, well the new iTunes software is, anyway. See here : http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=255305&tstart=0
Why can't I add my new downloaded tunes to my pod? ARRRRGH!

  • Can't copy purchased music from iTunes to iPod(logged into a Windows domain

I'm running iTunes on Windows XP. I've been using it to manage my music including purchasing music for iTunes. The laptop I'm using I also use it for work and log into a work Domain. I recently purchased an iPod (video) and attempted to transfer music via iTunes. When I manually try to transfer purchased songs only iTunes closes. I can transfer songs that have been imported into the library via CD. I receive a message "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." My user login has administrator rights to the PC (where iTunes is installed). All my music files are kept on an external hard drive. I've called Apple support and reinstalled the software several times with the same results. I did create a new user that logs in to
the PC (not the work Domain), that can somehow transfer the music to the iPod. But I can not see any folders, playlists, or purchased music that was established when logged on the work Domain. That solution isn't sufficient because I can't normally create different users
and run iTunes (and other products) this way.
Anyone encounter this problem? Any suggestions?

This sounds like an interesting snag - clearly if you can get copied CD tracks onto the iPod there isn't an issue PC to iPod.
I wonder if the inability to copy downloaded music is related to the very clever stuff Apple do to prevent you writing more than seven copies of those tracks? Just a thought - I have no idea how it all works, but it occurs to me it could get embroiled in network stuff?? If you are friendly with your administrator ask them if you can have a go at connecting your iPod to a computer with admin rights, and see if you get a more helpful error message.

  • Can't transfer purchased music from library to IPod mini

I have a two year old IPod mini that I haven't used in awhile. We recently had a computer crash and reinstalled the operating system with Windows XP Pro. I no longer have the original CD that came with my IPod when it was purchased. I have been able to download music to my library, however, when I plug my IPod into the computer, I get the message that my IPod sync is complete, and it is ok to disconnect. The problem is that I can't get the music from the library onto my IPod. What am I doing wrong?

I checked to see what form of software I had for my IPod, it turns out I have the updated version of the IPod software as well as the newest version of I Tunes. I opened my library and plugged my IPod in and hit the sync button, after 5 seconds or so it told me sync was complete, ok to disconnect IPod. I still have no music on the IPod and no idea what the problem could be.

  • Can you transfer purchased music from itunes to Musicmatch?

I like using itunes but my mp3 player isn't compatible. Wondering if all those purchased songs are wasted.

Your purchases are in protected AAC (m4p) format which is not compatible with any other software but iTunes. You can burn your purchases to an audio CD, that audio CD then can be used like any store bought CD. Hope this helps.

  • Can't transfer certain music from iTunes to Ipod.

Hi there. I downloaded a live performance to iTunes from a website. The music won't transfer to my iPod. All of the songs have the "radio" icon next to them. I right clicked them and there is no option to change them to AAC format. The songs are saved on my hard drive, but just the URL. Can't burn them to a CD either. Any suggestions? Thank you for your time!

There's an app called WireTap Pro:
    http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/wiretap/
It records any and all audio on the Mac, including radio programs in iTunes. You can even pick the file format (mp3, AIFF, WAV, etc.) It's not a quick solution, but it'll get the job done.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to transfer purchased music from iTunes

Can anyone tell me how to transfer purchased music from iTunes to my iPod without first downloading to a CD?

If you are using the latest version of iTunes (4.6), then you need to make sure your ipod software is up to date also.
When you have done this, authorize your music in iTunes by playing a few seconds of it, and it should transfer by whatever synching method you choose.
    Get the latest updates here.
If you have done all this and still can't transfer it, post back with more info about what is happening.
    EDIT.
    Grrrr......must learn to type faster!

  • Topic: How to transfer purchased music from iTunes

Since the item <Topic: How to transfer purchased music from iTunes> is "locked" (whatever that means - typically, I got an error message when I clicked on the link!!) - I would like to state that despite downloading the iPod updater to deal with this problem, I cannot update my iPod because "the updater does not have a firmware image". I deeply resent not being able to move 100 tracks I have bought and paid for with my hard-earned money to my iPod. I trust that Apple will sort out this mess forthwith.

I have now solved this problem (almost by accident...).
Unfortunately, before you can update the iPod software on the older iPods you have to first do a Restore Factory Settings from the iPod updater (otherwise "updater cannot find firmware image'). Let the 'Restore' process run right through (it ends when the iPod fully reboots). You can then run the iPod software updater to Update from iPod 2.2 to 2.3 software, but afterwards you have to recopy all your songs from iTunes into the now empty iPod. I reloaded my iPod last night, and it took about 20-30mins using firewire for c.2400 songs. It worked for me, anyway. And the interface with iTunes is an improvement. Could have done without all the wailing and gnashing of teeth, though. Thank you, Apple.

  • How can I transfer the music from an old ipod to an iphone 5c if I don't have the files in itunes anymore?

I have and old ipod and a new iphone 5C. I want to transfer the music from the ipod to the iphone. I could not do it in itunes. Need help. Thanks

Exact same way as razmee209 stated earlier. The sync process for the iPhones and iPods is one way from iTunes to the device, not the other way. The 3rd party software is the only solution if the music was not purchased via iTunes.
Simplest way is to transfer all your user data (inlcluding iTunes library) from old computer to new computer.

  • Can't get new music from iTunes to iPod

I currently have an iPod Touch.  Have downloaded the most current iTunes.  Have the latest software update for the iPod.  For numbers sake, I have 75 songs on the computer iTunes, 300 on the iPod.  Want to get music and playlists from iTunes onto iPod.  Have repeatedly tried syncing to no avail.  I don't want to erase everything off the iPod in order to do so.  Likewise, how the heck do I get the extra 225 songs from the iPod onto my iTunes??  All of the trouble started when I 1) added an iPhone into the mix and had multiple devices involved and 2) did the most recent iTunes update (which I HATE!!!!)
So how the heck do I do this??  I do not have a 7 year old in the household to tell me how to do this.

Transferring tracks from an iPod back to iTunes has been covered here a number of times already, but again:
First, you need to prevent automatic synchronzation with a blank copy of iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys in Windows. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer.
Then if you're using iTunes 7, you can then copy music that you purchased from the iTunes Store back to iTunes directly (use the Transfer Purchases From iPod command under the iTunes File menu).
If you're not using iTunes 7 or want to copy back other tracks, the easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:

    Hope this helps.
