Can't transfer rented movies to ipod

i just rented a movie for the first time and it won't transfer over to my ipod. i try to drag it over but i get the circle/slash symbol. any ideas? i looked at the guide but there weren't any answers.

What kind of iPod do you have? Rental Movies will only play on the iPod Classic (not the 5th Generation iPod), the iPod Touch, the iPod Nano with video and the iPhone:

  • Can I transfer rented movies from one computer to another?

I am posting this message as every time I try to transfer rented movies from my PowerBook to my iPod get the following message.
Attempting to copy to the disk "Michael Graham's iPod" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to.
I have gotten this message with an iPod Classic, as well as an iPod Touch, so don't think it is the iPod, but can not be sure of that. Also have posted a message about this in past, but none of the suggestions seemed to help. In addition Apple seems to be no help. In any event if I use my dad's Mac Mini to transfer the rented movie I do not get this message. In any event I just wonder if their is any way to transfer rented movies from one my laptop to his desktop, so I then came transfer to my iPod Touch.
    Thanks in advance
    Michael

  • Can't transfer rented movies to 2Gen Ipod Touch

I recently recently rented two SD movies from the Itunes store.  When I tried to transfer them from my itunes to my Ipod Touch (2GEN) I got an error that says they were not copied because the video format is not supported by my Ipod.  I have rented and watched movies before however that was like 5 years ago.  Is my Ipod too old to support current Itunes rented movies.  Is so, can I get my money back for my rentals?

Are you sure they were SD? This says your iPod supports SD

  • Can't trasfer rented movie to iPod Classic

I can't transfer a rented movie onto my iPod Classic. It's definately an iPod Classic, not a 5th. Gen., and I've watched rented movies on it before. When I try to drag the rented movie onto the iPod in iTunes it says the movie won't transfer becuause it "cannot be played on this iPod". Any help?
    ~A

Thanks for the response although I still can't get it to work.
Once I selected my iPod and then the movies tab under Rented Movies it says "There are no rented movies in your iTunes library that can be transferred to this iPod", even though the movie (Bruce Almighty) shows up in my library under the Rented Movies tab.

  • Can't get rented movies on iPod

We downloaded a rented movie, but nothing we try will get it to our ipod nano. Any suggestions or are others having this problem?

Rentals can be on one device at a time.
If you rented on the ipad/ipad/iphone, then you cannot transfer it at all.

  • Can't transfer a movie from iPod to my iPod Classic.

I am unable to transfer a movie rental to my iPod Classic. After the movie finished downloading I followed the directions at the Apple website that states I should click on a movie and click on Move. After clicking on the movie I do not find Move anywhere. I have checked all the drop-down menus at the top of my screen and see nothing. Also I do any see anything entitled Move on the iTunes window. I was hoping to watch this movie while on a flight from SFO to HNL latter today. Please reply if you can be of help to me.

Okay, I don't have any rentals on my computer at the moment so I'm doing this from memory. There should be, under the Library heading in the Source list in iTunes, a section for Rental Movies. If you don't see that, then I don't know where your movie is. When you plug in your iPod, click on the Movies Tab (should be the one right behind the summary tab when the iPod is selected), you should then see your rental movie and and arrow that says Move. Click on that arrow and the movie should be moved to the iPod. Note, it is moved not synced. It will then be on your iPod and NOT on your computer unless you reverse the process.
    Best of luck.

  • Unable to Transfer Rented Movies to iPod Touch (error 5103)

I just rented a movie to test it out on my iPod Touch. Problem is when I go to sync my iPod it wont transfer to my iPod. It will start the transfer and almost finish then I get this error message...
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v233/roodog/ipoderror.jpg
Any known reasons why I may be getting this error? I've tried many times. I have a fully updated Touch and iTunes.

I have tried the method of authorizing my computer and then initiating transfer purchases method yet my purchases were not transfered. I was told Apple can put your purchases in a certain place for you to retrieve them in your I-tunes account.
Is there any way you can help me with this problem?

  • Cannot transfer rented movie to iPod.

Error message says already transferred to another device (not true!).  This used to work very well and then stopped.  Have not changed computer or iPod.

I should've been connected to the internet. I was on wireless, but thought I had a good connection. My internet browser was working.
I have transferred rental movies without a problem before, so not sure.
    Thanks for helping!

  • HT1657 Why can't I transfer rented movies from my iPad to my Mac?

Why can't I transfer rented movies from my iPad to my Mac? This is absolutely senseless and annoying! I rented the movie and  should be able to watch it wherever I decide to!! A bit more concern for your clients, please...

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here. As far as I know Apple haven't given a reason, but you can try leaving feedback for them via this page : http://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • How can i transfer a movie bought in tunes throught my ipod touch, to my ..

how can i transfer a movie bought in tunes throught my ipod touch, to my usb flash so i can watch on my dvd player using the usb plug?
    can i do it?

A movie purchased from iTunes can only be played on iPods, iPhones, iPads, Apple TVs and authorized computers. Even if you transferred the movie to a flash drive, it wouldn't play on your DVD player.

  • Transfer Rented Movies from Apple TV V2 to Computer?!?!

I rented some movies on my Apple TV. Can I transfer them to my Mac that the Apple TV is synced with? I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this. I know that I can transfer rented movies from the Mac to the Apple TV, but the other way???
    Please someone let me know.
    -Christian

If you think you might need to watch your movie on anything other then Apple TV, rent it form iTunes on your computer. Once it is on your computer you can move it to an iPod, iPhone, and even Apple TV 2.0.
Under this system the only thing you can't do is have an HD rented movie on your computer. iPods and iPhones can't play that anyway. Yes, I think media giants sleep safer when HD movies are not on peoples "corruptible" computers and safe and sound on an "appliance".
The only way to make this any easier would be to allow SD rentals to transfer back to a computer but not HD. I think that would just add another layer of confusion.

  • How can i transfer rental movies from my Ipad to my iTunes library before updating

how can i transfer rental movies from my Ipad to my iTunes library before updating ?

    According to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1415 :
You can move the rental between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period. However, the movie can only be played on one device at a time. If you rent a movie or TV show on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV, it is not transferable to any other device and you must watch it on that device.
So I assume that you cannot use File > Transfer Purchases to copy them to your computer (though there is no harm in trying)

  • Transfer rented movie to iTunes

If I try to update my iPad to IOS 5.0.1 I get a warning that I should transfer rented movies to my iTunes library - but how? I have one rented movie, but that doesn't appear in my list of movies.

If the film was rented and downloaded directly on the iPad, then from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1415 :
You can move the rental between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period. However, the movie can only be played on one device at a time. If you rent a movie on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV, it is not transferable to any other device and you must watch it on that device.
