Can't Transfer user created mailboxes from G4 iMac to new Intel iMac 24"

I recently purchased a new intel based 24" iMac and began setting it up. I ran the Migration Assistant to trnsafer user settings, applications and files. about 80% successful so far after two runs. However, I cannot transfer the various email boxes I set up onthe prior mac to store older emails by subject area. I have a .Mac account, but only the Smart mailboxes seem to be backed up.
Any easy ways to do this so i do not lose my history
iMac G4 17"" to new iMac 24"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Both systems have been updated to latest OS

Steve,
Are these two Macs on the same network? If so, then on the old Mac, in System Preferences/Sharing have you selected to allow Personal File Sharing under the Services Tab. If you do, then in the Finder window of the new Mac click on the Network Icon at the left, and you should see all computers available on the network, that have permitted file sharing. Once you sign onto the old Mac, from the new Mac, use the Import command in Mail to navigate to the old Mac's home folder (that is a choice of what to first connect to), and then the Library in that computer's Home folder (you can't use the Home Icon at the left -- that's your new Mac Home folder), where you will find the Mail folder. Open the Mail folder, and then navigate to one Account folder, select to import all mailboxes in this one Account folder. Once those mailboxes (INBOX.mbox, etc) are imported they will be found below all standard mailboxes, just like any other On My Mac mailbox. Rename them to something descriptive, rather than the standard names. Then do any other Account folders the same way. Next open the Mailboxes folder, within the Mail folder on the old Mac, and proceed to Import. Any mailboxes you created as On My Mac on the old computer can be imported. However, you should check whether you have already named some on the new Mac to what you used on the old Mac.
Hope this is clear, and do not hesitate to ask further questions.

  • How can I transfer. My library from iPod to a new pc

Pc has had hard drive wiped lost all iTunes on machine I have a laptop with iTunes on it and the same account name. Can I transfer everything from my iPod onto the laptop without anything being deleted?

Your pc may have died but the hard drive might be still in good condition, IDE or SATA,
If you don't have the cables for it, then, if youhave another pc thats SATA, turn off your PC and unhook your hard drive from your old pc to the pc you are on now.
The IDE hard drive can be connected throu the CD/DVD port if your pc is nothing but SATA only. Thats the only way without buying any cables like IDE/SATA to USB.
Once connected, make sure the power cord is also connected, turn on the pc, once windows pop up, wait a second for your pc has dectected a new drive thats been plugged in.
If it hasn't or cant see your drive, reboot the pc and go to your BIOS screen when you first turn on the pc which should be F2 or F10, depending on who created the computer.
BIOS>Hard Drive> Enable the other hard drive thats probably disabled by default on how the pc was sent, apply changes, reboot and connect to your hard drive under computer and there you go.
Copy your files from your old hard drive onto your new computer or you can leave it in there and access it as so.

  • Can i transfer Rosetta Stone Software from my iMac to an iPad 2?

    Hi,
Can i move my rosetta stone software from my imac which runs 10.4.11 to an iPad 2?
I haven't yet bought the ipad but i want to take it with me while i travel but want to make sure that this is possible first.
I bought the software legally and have all the discs. It isn't an app.
Also is there any way to plug in an USB connector into an iPad 2?
    Can someone help me please?
    Thank you.

As Demo said this isn't an Apple thing. It is the way the world works. Software for one platform doesn't generally work on another platform.
It is something to take up with Rosetta Stone. They do make a Total Course HD application which is free. However it looks like you need to pay for some kind of monthly subscription to hook it up with your account.
Which also makes sense. Nothing is free. Rosetta is a company that needs to make money to pay its employees. They could have included the cost of this service with the inital purchase of the system, but then all the people who don't have iPads would be complaining that they had to pay for something the didn't/couldn't use.

  • How can i transfer my iTunes library from old computer to new with all artwork and tags intact?

Is it possible to just copy the iTunes folder on my Windows PC from the old computer to a hard drive and then to the new Mac Book, and have the library look the same?  Importing the files using the "add folder to library" function results in many files coming up with "unknown artist" and/or "unknown album."  But I didn't think just copying the iTunes folder from one computer to the other would work, without somehow also using the "add folder to library" function.
I know there are other questions on site (one by me, actually), but I was hoping for any more information.  Many thanks, in advance.

FYI, just in case anyone sees this and has the same problem, I posted another question beginning with the words "How can I get all music "tags" to transfer . . . " which outlines a solution.  Good luck to anyone with the same issue - the transfer can be done!

  • How can I transfer my iTunes library from Windows to my new Macbook and retain my iPhone contacts?

    Hello,
I am running iTunes on Windows Vista with music, videos. This is paired to a 3GS which has many contacts on it. The iPhone is regularly synced and backed up.
I have just bought a new MacBook Pro and want to transfer my entire iTunes system over. I see that I can transfer the music library over with Home Sharing. I want to ensure, however, that when I sync my iPhone with my NEW MacBook Pro, that all the data is retained. I am most concerned with losing the contacts on the phone.
Does anybody know how I can do this? I just want to wholesale copy the iTunes environment onto my new machine, I guess.
    Thanks,

Contacts (and Calendars) are not part of iTunes. iTunes is simply used to sync them from whatever apps you are using.
This is for Mac OS 10.4 but it will work for whatever you are now running.

  • I can't transfer my music purchased from iTunes to my new replacement iPod

    Hello,
I just got a replacement 4th generation 20GB iPod because my last one died. When I plugged it into my computer for the 1st time, only songs that had come from my cds transfered onto the iPod and none of my purchased songs would. An error message came up saying that I needed to download the iPod updater, and I did and I can see in my iPod preferences that I have the 3.1 software. So I am updated, but the purchased songs still won't transfer and it still says that my software is too old.
This just doesn't make any sense to me, and I would greatly appreciate any help I could get.
    Thanks

    Greetings from Mancunia.
I am having a similar problem. After years of trouble free use, my 'pod is now giving me trouble, well the new iTunes software is, anyway. See here : http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=255305&tstart=0
Why can't I add my new downloaded tunes to my pod? ARRRRGH!

  • Can i transfer my iPhoto file from old mac to new mac using iCloud?

I got a new mac and want transfer my Iphotos to my new mac using icloud.  Is this possible?  How?  I registered both computers with Icloud.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately you can't use iCloud for this.
You can do this over a network, using an external HD, USB memory stick or DVD.

  • I can't transfer my iTunes music from iCloud to my new iPhone

Help.  We've been trying for days.  The phone was backed up to the cloud then when apple replaced the old phone with the new 4s I can't get my songs on my phone.  They r on my iPad and other phones in the house

If the "new PC" is not an Apple, then your Apple Apps will not be compatible with the PC.  So you are NOT able to transfer them.
    Hope this helps

  • How can I transfer my imovie project from the imac to the macbook pro

So that way I can continue to make/edit the movie on the go. I have a 27" imac and a macbook pro that I am working with.
    Thanks

The best way would be to move it using an external hard drive. Then you have to move the hard drive between the two computers. In fact you could all the Events folders and the Project on that same hard drive too. And everything would be self contained. You would use iMovie to copy the Projects and Events onto the external hard drive (don't drag anything outside of iMovie, moving the files manually is NOT good). Then as a last step run the Consolidate Project command on that copy of the project on the External HD. That would get everything you needed into one spot.
But be aware, your iTunes and iPhoto libraries are going to still be on your iMac. So you may not have access to EVERYthing you need to put into the final project.

  • Exporting mailboxes from older emac to new imac

How do I transfer the many mailboxes I have set up to sort my email in mail from an old emac to a new imac. I currently connect using earthlink and when I opened the email in the new Imac the inbox came over, but none of my downloaded mailboxes or older emails came. Where does the emac store these files?
emac and imac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

An Earthlink account is a POP account so messages available in the account's Inbox at the server will be downloaded only when creating the email account with Mail or another email client such as Mail on another computer.
User created "On My Mac" location mailboxes created in Mail are stored locally on the hard drive and although you used these many mailboxes created in Mail on your old eMac to sort/store messages received by your Earthlink account, these mailboxes have no association with the account at the incoming mail server level for Earthlink so will not be automatically created when creating your Earthlink account in Mail on your new Mac.
Since you did not use the Migration Assistant, you need to use the Import Mailboxes feature in Mail on your new Mac to import these user created mailboxes from Mail on your old Mac. All imported mailboxes will be placed in an Import folder that is created automatically by Mail and this process will not create these "On My Mac" location mailboxes that you created on your old Mac.

  • Can MoveUser move a user's mailbox from an installation of Mail Server 2.X to Messaging Server 3.X?

Can MoveUser move a user's mailbox from an installation of Mail
Server 2.X to Messaging Server 3.X?
    <P>
    Yes.
The 2.x server allows the postmaster to login to a user's account.
    Try running MoveUser as follows:
    MoveUser -u uid -s host -xPostmaster:uid -p password
    -d desthost -a proxyuser -v proxypassword -m mailboxpath
    Notes:
Mail Server 2.x uses a local database and not an LDAP server
for account information. The -l option
specify ldap URL and the associated bindDN password,
therefore, are not valid when moving from
Mail Server 2.x to Messaging Server 3.x.
    "Postmaster:" is case sensitive.
The -a and -v options are for Messaging Server 3.x
    ProxyAuthUser credentials.
We do NOT allow this login to a 3.x server
    (use PROXYAUTH instead).

    Additionally
When I type in fasn26p (machine name) the Oracle Application Server Welcome page displays.
I can get to the Enterprise Manager via the link on the page.
On the All Programs menu, under Oracle - OraDb10g_home1 I can access the Datbase Control page and login. The line for Database Instance: Orcl is -
    http://fasn26p:1158/em/consol/database/instance/sitemap?event=doloa&....
One last thought. I installed this with this on my network at home and I now have it disconnected from the network. So no IP address for the adapter and I wonder if that can cause a problem with Apache?

  • HT203180 I am a new user. I have created iPad versions of videos, but I can't get them to synch from my iMac to my IPad

I am a new user. I have created iPad versions of videos, but I can't get them to synch from my iMac to my IPad. I have consulted the Help section, but the videos do not appear in the iTunes library as movies.

Pad2, the new iPad Supported Video Formats & Movie Formats
    H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High Profile level 4.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
    MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit to import the videos.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

How can I transfer all iTunes purchases from one apple id to another?

    Delmar Ford wrote:
Don't agree. I have two accounts, one for work which I set up years ago and bought a few tracks. I've recently bought iPhone and iPad and created a home ID and wanted to transfer the old purchaces. Everyone says it can't be done, but I've done it.
    1. on the iPhone/iPad change your "store" Apple ID to the one you want ot transfer from.
    2. go into iTune on the device and download the purchaces.
    3. on you PC/Mac change the iTunes login to the same as the device's ID
    4. sync your device
    5. change both ID's back and the purchaces stay on both iTunes and your device.
    Delmar,
The procedure you describe is putting content from two different IDs into a single library, which can readily be done.
However, each item of purchased content will still be tied to the ID from which it was originally purchased, and they will be treated separately for purposes of Cloud, Match, Purchase History, etc.
