Can't transfer videos to itunes??

hey all i just wanted to know if there was a way (if its legal) to transfer videos to itunes that you didnt buy off itunes...like i have dvds of some of my fav movies that i would like to put on my touch without having to buy them in itunes...is there a way of doing this, agian, without breaking any rules??

If these were home movies on DVD's then my answer would be yes you can just do a search on Google for DVD to Ipod.
If we are talking about store bought movies. Well we are not allowed to discuss that. As per the terms we agreed to when joining this Forum.

Can't transfer video to iTunes

Hello,
I have used video in iTunes for months successfully. However in the past month, whenever I click on the video in iTunes only the quicktime logo shows and the video will not play from within iTunes. Also when I try to drag a new video into iTunes, it does not drop in (which it used to).
So I deleted all the existing videos, tried software update, and tried other videos, but no videos will appear in iTunes (not when I drag and drop or import).
Please help

I was able to import and MP4 file by import - not by drag and drop.
Why is it my older files (regardless of the format) I could put into iTunes and then convert

Select from the drop down menu in the top left corner of itunes to 'show the menu 'bar'. From the 'File' menu select 'add file to library' or 'add folder to library' if there are mulitple objects to import. Navigate to the location of the file you wish to import, be it a video, music, book or whatever you wish to import. Depending on the file type and compatibility itunes will automatically put it into its relevant library.
If you are adding a video file that has come straight from something like a youtube downloading program then I think the video you have will require further conversion to make it compatible with itunes and idevices. I'm not sure about you tube downloading programs but there may be a built in conversion that might say it could convert it on the fly.

I have bought my iPhone 3G yesterday. I have found out how to transfer music from iTunes however i can't transfer videos. I'm selecting the videos i want to transfer on the videos tab after i chose my iphone from the side menu and pressing apply. iTunes says that its syncing my iphone but it doesnt transfer the videos.
Lately i have found out a function on the advanced menu for movies as "create iphone or ipod version". When i used that it transfered that video to my iPhone however the sound was completely lost besides that action takes too much time(around 10 mins for a 3 min video and i have a pretty strong computer).
How can i transfer videos without losing the sound to my iPhone 3G?

One thing I'd recommend is that you make sure the video/audio you're trying to transfer falls within the guidelines listed in the 'Video' section here:

What's most likely happening is that the file is not converted as such so when you try to transfer it, it's wanting to convert it but is unable to for any number of reasons.
There's software out there that might make this easier for you but I can't recommend anything specifically.

question: I can't transfer video file from iPhoto (9.5.1) to iMovie (10.0.4). The video is 6 minutes and 465MB. I tried to trim but that doesn't shorten actual file. Any suggestions? There seems to be a size limit. Also- what's strange is that when I click "import" from iMovie, I can't find any library of iPhoto events. So, I tried to drag the file from iPhoto to iMovie (seems to work for smaller files) and that's when I discovered I couldn't drag this bigger one. Thanks,

AppleTV 1 works differently.
It has a sync/share mode and sharing (streaming only) modes set up by pairing the unit with iTunes on computers using the Settings>Computers menu.
The first sync and share connection is for one itunes library and allows you to sync compatible media to the unit's hard drive as well as stream the rest seamlessly if itunes is runniung and the drive has filled up - this media is accessed under My Music, My Movies etc.
Sharing libraries stream only and are accessed via My Shared Movies, Music etc.
Yes, Handbrake is a video converter that has AppleTV presets - use AppleTV1 preset or a simple universal Apple preset.
