Can't trasfer rented movie to iPod Classic

I can't transfer a rented movie onto my iPod Classic. It's definately an iPod Classic, not a 5th. Gen., and I've watched rented movies on it before. When I try to drag the rented movie onto the iPod in iTunes it says the movie won't transfer becuause it "cannot be played on this iPod". Any help?
~A

Thanks for the response although I still can't get it to work.
Once I selected my iPod and then the movies tab under Rented Movies it says "There are no rented movies in your iTunes library that can be transferred to this iPod", even though the movie (Bruce Almighty) shows up in my library under the Rented Movies tab.

  • Rented Movies on Ipod Classic

Hello... I have the Ipod video classic with 30gigs and have downloaded two rented movies to my Itunes. when I try to transfer to my Ipod, I get the message that the movies were not transfered because myIpod cannot play these movies. I have played purchased movies before, so why can I not play the rentals on my Ipod. What gives?

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You have a Fifth Generation iPod not an +iPod classic+ and unfortunately Movie Rentals are not compatible with the Fifth Generation iPod.

  • Can't get rented movies on iPod

We downloaded a rented movie, but nothing we try will get it to our ipod nano. Any suggestions or are others having this problem?

Rentals can be on one device at a time.
If you rented on the ipad/ipad/iphone, then you cannot transfer it at all.

i just rented a movie for the first time and it won't transfer over to my ipod. i try to drag it over but i get the circle/slash symbol. any ideas? i looked at the guide but there weren't any answers.

What kind of iPod do you have? Rental Movies will only play on the iPod Classic (not the 5th Generation iPod), the iPod Touch, the iPod Nano with video and the iPhone:

  • Rented movies on ipod ...

I have an ipod classic(or 5th generation I can't figure it out) and I can't get rented movies to sync onto it. Is it not capable of that or am I doing something wrong? Because if its not capable of syncing rented things, thanApple should put it on the Itunes store that it can't. This is the third time this has happened tome and its really getting pathetic.

iTunes rentals can only go on the iPhone, touch, iPod classic or the 4G nano.

  • I purchased a Pink/Funhouse dvd, can I download this on my ipod classic?

I purchased a Pink/Funhouse Dvd, Can I Download it on my Ipod Classic ?

First try a hard reset.  To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If the problem continues, try removing the movies from the iPod and then resyncing them back over to it.
And lastly, restore the iPod to factor settings.

  • Which hard drives can I put in my 120gb ipod classic? 30gb, 60gb, 80gb or only a 120gb?

which hard drives can I put in my 120gb ipod classic? 30gb, 60gb, 80gb or only a 120gb?

Physically, the small capacity hardisk (60,80) are thicker at 8mm,
while the 120gb is thinner at 5mm,
    there are some thin hardrive 30 GB (MK3006GAL), 60GB (MK6015GAL) and 80GB (MK8022GAA).
The firmware 2.0 should be able to handle upto 160GB.hardrive.
However the difficulty, is opening the iPod case, and getting the thin hardrive or else your iPod case wont close, better stick to 120GB.

Doesn't it have to be a firewire drive (which the Classic isn't)?
And in any event, using your iPod in a way it was not intended will severely shorten the life of it. The iPod hard drive wasn't meant to be a full-time operating system drive.

  • Can I get radio on my iPod classic? If so how do I do it? I play it from iTunes but don't knwo how to load it to my iPod.

Can I get radio on my iPod Classic. It is 80GB. I play iTunes radio and really like some of the stations but can't figure out how to get it on my iPod.

Alas, the Classic doesn't support radio. The basic classic can only play stored audio files. iTunes plays radio by streaming it over the network.

  • Can you purchase iMatch for an iPod classic?

Can you purchase iMatch for and iPod Classic? It doesn't make that clear when reading the advertisement for the service.
    Thanks for your help!

The iTunes Match service is attached to your iTunes library, not the device itself. Hopefully the tracks on your device are also all in your library, and the backup of it, however iTunes Match might still be an additional backup and remote access service if it suits your needs. It has more use to owners of iOS devices who can download any of their matched tracks from iCloud to their device on demand.

  • Can't play rented movies.  They appear to download OK and the timer accurately reports days remaining to watch.  But whenever I try to play the movie I get this message, "An error occurred loading this content.  Try again later."

Can't play rented movies.  They appear to download OK and the timer accurately reports days remaining to watch.  But whenever I try to play the movie I get this message, "An error occurred loading this content.  Try again later.". Have been using the Apple TV for 2 weeks and everything else seems to work OK.  The Apple TV reports its SW is up to date.  I've tried this with two movies rented frim iTunes directly from the Apple TV.

If after you download the movie, you navigate away and do something else with your Apple TV the content you have downloaded will be overwritten and you'll need to download it again. It's a pain in the neck for many who have slow downloads but it's something that comes with using volatile memory rather than a hard drive for storage.
Perhaps you're not doing this, but I thought it worth mentioning.

  • Can I view rented movies in airplane mode?

Can I view rented movies in flight mode?

As long as they're from the iTunes Store and have completed downloading to your iPad, yes. Once completely downloaded, a network connection should no longer be needed.
    Regards.

  • I'm going on vacation and would like to have some movies rented for the flight. I won't have wifi so can i download rented movies?

I'm going on vacation and would like to have some movies rented for the flight. I won't have wifi so can i download rented movies?

Prior to going you can rent and download them on your iPad via its iTunes store app, or rent and download them on your computer's iTunes and connect and your iPad and move them to it - they will go in the iPad's Videos app.
Some people have posted that they need to start playing rentals whilst they still have internet connection, so you may want to watch a few seconds prior to going offline - you have 24 hours if you are in the US, 48 hours elsewhere, after starting to watch a rental before it expires.

  • HT4095 Can I watch rented movies in my ipad 2 without internet connection.  I will be travelling by air and highway.  Ty

Can I watch rented movies in my ipad 2 without internet connection?

If you use iTunes to rent movies, then yes.
iTunes movies downloaded and stored directly to your iPad and if you don't start playing a movie, stay on your iPad for 30 days.
If you start to play a downloaded, rented movie on your iPad, then it will expire in 24 hours.
Other services, like Amazon, Netflix and Hulu need an Internet connection to stream their content.

  • HT1430 How do I delete a movie or can I move it so I can download a RENTED movie?  I appreciate all of everyone's help

How do delete a movie download or move it somewhere so I can download a RENTED movie?

Thank you for the reply roaming gnome.
Unfortunately, I already have "hidden" these purchases in the past. Despite "hiding" them, they still attempt to download to my computer automatically.
Please note, I DID NOT PURCHASE this movie. A friend purchased it for me as a gift through iTunes.
Again, thank you for the link to the Apple Support page, but that does not resolve my issue.
Please see the attached screenshot for what I see when I go to Purchases > Movies. Nothing shows up - presumably because I already "hid" them in the past.
Selecting "Not in My Library" under "Movies" has the same display. The movie I want to delete does not show up under "Music" "TV Shows" "Apps" or "Books," as well.
