Can't turn my camera

Hi. When I use Skype or any software with the camera, not found. What may be happening?

Double click your home button.
When the bar pops up on the bottom scroll through the list until you see Camera.
Hold down on it until it starts to wiggle.
Click the red minus sign.
Press the home button.
The camera will now be off.

Quit all apps that are using the camera:
OS X Mavericks: Use your Mac computer’s built-in camera.
If you have hidden any Login items,
you should still be able to see if they are working in Activity Monitor.

  • How can I turn my camera on

I am using skyoe and my camera is not functioning (I have no green light next to the camera).
I have opened photobooth etc and cannot get the camera to function, how can I enable the camera

You should first check the status of the hardware.
Go to: Apple Menu / About This Mac / More Info. In the left hand column, under Hardware, click on USB. The right side will show the USB Device Tree. It will be a long list. Somewhere in the list is there a camera listed?
If you are not sure, you can post a screen shot of that part of the screen.

  • Can u turn the camera permanetely off?

The camera turned itself on one day. i do not care why at this point it was either that the cpu f-ed up or it worse???? Regardless I do not use it and would prefer it to be turned off. Any help on acam shutdown option would be great
    thanks

You could try removing the iSight Kext file. It's located in System->Library->Extensions/Apple_iSight.kext You might need a restart since the extension has already loaded.
I've never tried it and I certainly wouldn't just trash the file (make a backup) but that's was the NSA suggests to disable the built in cameras on Macs.

    Hi delphinus!
    Thanks for posting.
What specific memory cards have you tried?  When was the camera purchased?

hello i accidentally synced all my photos from Iphoto and they doubled, i removed them all eventually to re-import them again, but i have no camera folder anymore and i have a folder called "From Mac" how can i turn it back to normal?

That is normal for photos synced from a computer to a phone using iTunes. Synced photos were never placed in the Camera Roll. Additionally since iOS 8 there is no Camera Roll: http://appleinsider.com/articles/14/09/19/goodbye-camera-roll-where-to-find-your -photos-in-ios-8

    RESET DEVICE
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).

    Solved!

I have at least one Canon remote that I've used with my 7D's. Unfortunately, I don't have it with me, because today's shoot doesn't require it. So I can't give you the model number. (Models come and go anyway.) It has a shutter button that you can press halfway to activate auto-focussing, just like the button on the camera. But you do have to make sure that the camera has an IR sensor. On a Canon DSLR, look for it where the fingers of your right hand would cover it up; I think that's intentional, so that a spurious IR beam won't fire the shutter while you're taking hand-held shots. Also, check that the camera and the remote are compatible, e.g. that they agree on the frequencies of light that are to be used.

  • How can I turn a smart phone into a dumb phone (for punishment when I still need her to have a phone)?

I believe I am on the verge of needing to know how to turn my daughters phone into a dumb phone as a consequence.  I still need her to be able to call me, but not much else.  Anyone have any helpful hints?  She has a 5C.

Remove all the email accounts that are on the device.
    Turn off FaceTime & iMessage.
Create a new Apple ID using a new email address that you create, and that only you know the password to.
Use that Apple ID for Settings > iCloud and Settings > iTunes & App Store.
Delete all the third-party apps on the device.
Go into Setting > Cellular and disable all apps from using cellular data (except Find My iPhone).  Or even disable Cellular data totally.
Use the Restrictions option under Settings > General > Restrictions.  Create a Restrictions passcode that only you know
Disable the ability to use everything from Safari down to Carplay under the Restrictions.
Set all the allowed content to the most restricted options available.
Set the Allow Changes in Restrictions to prevent allowing changes to Account, Cellular Data Use, ad maybe even volume limit.
That pretty much makes it so she can make phone calls and use normal texting, but has no internet access, no way to browse online, no way to use any apps other than what's already pre-installed, can't use FaceTime, can't use the Camera, can't add email accounts to the device, can't change out the iCloud account, etc.  It basically dumbs the iPhone down as far as it can possibly go.

  • Can I turn the OSX.7 'Mail' application OFF?

How can I completely remove the Apple Mail application from ever opening automatically?
I only use web-based email programs and have successfully configured most settings to default to my yahoo service for sending and receiving. However, a few still default to the Apple program, causing a number of problems when it opens uninvited including sending dozens of reminders and old emails that weren't removed from the server (probably a different problem, but it seems that just turning mail 'off' would be the simplest fix).
Now I'm even learning that OTHER people's notifications and reminders on shared calendars (in ical) are opening Mail automatically, and that is REALLY annoying.
Is there a way to end this frustration?

Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes?  If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created.
