Can't turn off MobileMe email alerts

iPhone 4, iOS 5, iCloud.
I have several email accounts on my iPhone and for some reason, it gives me an alert sound every time I get an email on my me.com account. The others don't alert me - I don't want alerts on any of them.
I turned Mail off in Notifications center and can't seem to find a notification setting for individual accounts. To be clear, I only get a tri-tone alert sound when .me mail comes in. Nothing in notification center.
It gets really annoying because I'll get Apple marketing emails at 2-5am, waking me from my peaceful slumber!
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Rey

Settings > Sounds > New Mail > None.
This is a global setting for all accounts.  There is no individual account alert tone setting.  Your other accounts are giving you alert tones, but they aren't push mail accounts so that you don't receive the mail until you manually fetch it.  Also, you can set your MobileMe accout NOT to push mail so that you don't get anything in the middle of the night.
FYI, Apple will be terminating MobileMe in June, 2012.  You need to migrate to iCloud real soon if you don't want to lose that account and other services (i.e. Find My Phone)

  • I can't turn off the email alerts on my iphone 5.  Any ideas?

Under settngs - sounds it says new mail - none- but it still pings when a new email cmes through.  Any ideas would be welcome - thanks.

    Hi dominican60,
If you are still receiving audible pings when receiving mail, you may want to check the current settings in Notification Center. You may find the following article helpful:

  • How can I turn off base64 email encoding in iPlanet Process Manager?

Email sent out from a workflow running in the Process
Manager seems to be base64 encoded. How can I turn
    off the encoding?

No worries. Typically you can rename a machine by just changing the name System Preferences -> Sharing. But there is also a command line option to adjust the name, and if you don't use the command line option, the server freaks out and will alert you about the change forever. ie - for servers, you need to use the command I describe below.
The command is called changeip and can be run from command line in Terminal.app. It is for manually chaning the ip address and or name of a machine. It basically has 4 parameters: old ip address, new ip address, old machine name, new machine name.
Basically the command looks like this:
sudo changeip OLDIPADDRESS NEWIPADDRESS OLDNAME NEWNAME
If any value is being kept the same, just repeat the identical information as both the old and new value.
Example 1: Changing the IP address and host name. This would update the machine's ip address to be 192.168.1.2 and its name would be update to my_new_name.
    sudo changeip 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.2 my_old_name my_new_name
Example 2: Keeping the IP address the same but updating the name. This would update the machine's name to my_new_name but would keep the same ip address.
    sudo changeip 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.1 my_old_name my_new_name
Most likely you're just wanting to update the name, in which case you should follow the second example. If you run this, be sure to reboot the machine afterwards and test to make sure that any enabled services are running properly.

  • Can I turn off recent emails/contacts in iOS 6?

I believe recent contacts/emails is a new feature of iOS 6. It is the feature that helps you auto-complete email addresses etc. I understand that in an enterprise environment this can be switched off.
Can I switch off or block the recent contacts outside of an enterprise environment?
I do not want my wife who shares my icloud account, but not any email or contacts, to have my work colleagues email addresses popping up everytime she attempts to address an email. This seems like it is a privacy setting that has been missed out?

I've turned on BOLD TEXT and turned on REDUCE MOTION but for me it feels like more than just the zooms in and out... I'm getting sick just reading emails and texts or just glancing at the lock screen. It's intant nausea. The only thing I can think of is that it's something to do with refresh rate or frequency of the screen.
I thought I'd just get used to it but it has not subsided. I only hope I don't have to resort to backgrading to iOS 6 or worse, moving to a different brand of phone.

  • Can't Turn Off Push Email

I am using Exchange for my email but I can't stop the push email. I would rather have it fetch email every 15 minutes to save battery life. When I go into settings, I have the following set:
Under Fetch New Data - Every 15 Minutes
    Push is turned Off
Under Advanced and then under my email account I have it set to Fetch.
I don't see any other place that I need to change but when ever I get an email on my desktop computer I get it immediately on my iPhone as well. I tried to set it to manual and that works.
Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?
    Thanks.

Sure Apple and Yahoo allow this, but it is up to the user to know the difference when creating the account. This is called garbage in = garbage out, which happens to everyone on occasion.
When creating a Yahoo account with the Yahoo account preset on the iPhone, the account is created as an IMAP account with Push access. Turning Push access off for recieved messages doesn't change or switch the account to a POP account. It is still an IMAP account with Push access turned off.
You want to access the account as a POP account. If so, delete your Yahoo account on the iPhone and when re-creating the account select "Other" instead. After the data entry on the first screen, select POP as the account type followed by entering the required settings for accessing the account as a POP account.

  • Can't turn off new email notifications. (iphone5)

Randomly, I started getting pinged with every incoming email even though I have sounds for new email set to off.  Silent vs. non-silent doesn't make a difference. (iphone5)

Check Settings > Notifications > Mail > [each and every email account you have] > New Mail Sound

  • Can't turn off MobileMe Notes Sync in iOS4

Hey, I've upgraded to iOS 4 on my iPhone 3G and now my Notes always sync back to MobileMe, whether or note syncing is enabled or disabled in settings.
Now in Mail on the Mac my notes keep appearing and if I delete them I lose them on my phone.
I use notes for my daily to-do lists and little notes so I collect loads of them.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? And is there a suggested fix?
    Cheers,
    Sebastian

With the Mail.app on your Mac, are you storing notes on your Mac or with MobileMe?
This is selected at Mail > Preferences under the Composing tab.
Since notes have been available with the Mail.app on your Mac before installing iOS4 on your iPhone, why do you not want your notes available with the Mail.app now?
This is designed to have your notes available at all 3 locations - with the Mail.app on your Mac, with your MobileMe account, and with your iPhone with notes kept synchronized between all 3 just as with contacts and calendar events - unless I'm misunderstanding what the problem is.

  • Turning off the TM alert/email (LG Chocolate Touch)

When I get a new message on my LG Chocolate Touch, my phone alerts me loudly by saying that a new TM has arrived (and recites the number). The same goes for new email (a long loud beep).  How do I turn it off?  I found on this website that I am supposed to go to Options- Setting to turn off the email alarm option. But my phone does not have the option of turning off the new emails under Settings

Are you using Mobile Email? If you are, you need to open your email account from the Mobile Email app and change the settings there.
The text alerts voice notification can be turned off by going to Menu >> Settings & Tools >> Phone Settings >> Voice Commands >> set to Ring only. (I think - this is actually for voice calls. I have the Voyager, and I don't see a setting to announce the Caller ID for a text message) Is your user manual any help?

  • HT203521 In iOS8 I can't turn off shared iCloud calendar alerts. I share iCloud calendars with 3 others and am constantly getting their alarms for upcoming appointments. Settings- Notifications- Calendar- Shared Calendar Changes turns off changes only.

Have had new iPhone 6 for 2 months, using iOS 8.  I share iCloud calendars with 3 others and I am getting bombarded with their upcoming appointment alerts.  There seems no way to turn this off.  I went to Settings->Notifications->INCLUDE(Calendar)->Shared Calendar Changes and turned everything off, but this only blocks alerts about new events or changes to events being added to the calendars, it does not block the 5-minute/10-minute/etc. alarms that go off immediately in advance of the appointment.  There used to be a setting in iOS7 in "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars" way at the bottom to turn off alarms from shared calendars, but I don't see that in iOS8.  Any ideas?

Finally figured this out when I read jodiemcneill 's post about Google calendars.  Thanks!
Reposting the basic idea: to turn off event alerts from shared ICloud calendars, select the Calendar App, then click the "info" (i.e., the circled red 'i') icon next to the shared iCloud calendar to be silenced. Go down to "Notifications" and turn the slider off for "Event Alerts: (Allow events on this calendar to display alerts.)"
For good measure, you can also turn off the slider for "Show Changes" to prevent the calendar from displaying messages when shared events are added/modified/deleted, although this can be done "globally" for all shared iCloud Calendars in Settings->Notifications->Calendar->Invitations (turn off all sliders, click "none" for Alert Style).
This has been a major pain in the ... neck ... for the past 3 months.  So glad to start the new year with a suddnely-much-quieter iPhone 6.

  • Can you turn off alerts for when your on a call

It drives me nuts when my cell beeps and vibrates while Im on a call...
can I turn off alerts/notification for when I am on the phone.

Maybe we shouldn't have to? It seems like a very simple setting to include that allows us to silence alerts while on a call. No other phone has ever blasted my text tone in my ear when I'm talking to someone. And there's no way to silence it once it starts, I had to listen to a 10 second text tone after telling the person to hold on today. Pretty stupid that this tiny feature was overlooked when they released the iphone 4, it was available on the 3. It's become so irritating that I'm considering returning my phone and going droid.
