  • How can I turn off my iPhone?

I turned off my iPhone. Then the wheel started to turn. How can I stop this? When I press both nobs for 30 seconds nothing happens. Please help.

Contrary to Mr. Crooks post, this is NOT normal.  It should spin a few secs and then shut off without needing to connect to iTunes.
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.  You may need to hold the buttons as long as a minute.
If still a problem, connect to iTunes.  If it's not recognized by iTunes, try Recovery Mode... http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • How can I turn off an iPhone 5 that has a broken lock button and is frozen?

I have an iPhone 5 and my screen has been frozen for about 20 minutes and the lock button is broken. I have assistive touch but that is also frozen. Are there any ways to turn off my phone?

Let the battery die and/or plug it into iTunes and restore it.

  • How can I turn off my iphone without using the power off button

I dropped my Iphone 5s in water and now the screen won't allow me to slide it over to power off. There's some water in the screen and it's not working correctly.

Press and hold the "Sleep/Wake" button located on the top of the iPhone.
Hold the "Home" button on the front of the iPhone while continuing to hold the Sleep/Wake button.
Release the buttons as soon as the iPhone's screen turns black to turn it off. Do not continue to hold the buttons or the device will reset.
    Hope it can help you.
    Merry Christmas!

  • How can I turn off my iPhone 5S/stop an alarm when the home button and screen are broken?

Touchscreen is not working at all. My home button does not work. I have alarms with snoozes going off with a battery at 100%... It's driving me crazy but I don't really want to reset my phone to factory settings.

You don't. Not without getting it fixed first.

An alternate method is Accessibility Settings when connected to iTunes. You should be able to turn it off there. I would also check out some of the answers listed to the right of this post and see if they can help.

How can I turn off imessage for just one of my contacts? Me and my husband just upgraded (both had iphone 4), I got the iphone 5s and he got he note 3. All my text to him automatically send as a imessage. Ive tried to delete his contact and then went back in and reentered it but that doesnt work.

Have your husband text the word "stop" to 48369. This should take his number out of the iMessage system.
Go into your settings under messaging and make sure the box to send as an SMS if iMessage is unavailable is checked.
Hopefully this will get your messages sending/receiving to each other.

  • I can't turn off find my ihone, always show "there was a problem when canceling the registration of this iphone with icloud" please help me. i can't restore my iphone before turn off find my iphone

i can't turn off find my ihone, always show "there was a problem when canceling the registration of this iphone with icloud" please help me. i can't restore my iphone before turn off find my iphone

If you are the original owner of the phone and know the Apple ID and password that were used to activate it originally, and if you have an existing backup to restore from, you can force it into recovery mode (which will completely erase it) and restore it as explained here: If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.  When you do you will encounter activation lock, and will have to provide the ID and password used to activate it originally in order to activate it again.  If you can't, you won't be able to activate and use it.

  • My elderly mother hss EXTREMELY limited vision and is a technophobe. I am considering an iPhone with Siri.  Can I turn off everything else so she can use only the phone app and voice dialing and not accidentally open any other app and screw something

My elderly mother has EXTREMELY limited vision and is a technophobe. I am considering an iPhone with Siri.  Can I turn off everything else so she can use only the phone app and voice dialing or Siri and not accidentally open any other app and screw something up.

I'm asking, in all seriousness, why do you think your mother needs an iPhone? Honestly, if your mother is, as you described her, a technophobe, I would recommend against getting an iPhone or any other smartphone. I've spent a fair bit of time teaching older folks to use smartphones. If they are interested in learning, it's fine. If they have the phone because their kids or grandkids thought it was a good idea but they are afraid of the phone or not interested in its features, it doesn't go well at all.
Many basic phones have voice dialing. Obviously, it doesn't do all the things Siri does but it may be much less intimidating for your mom. Also, basic phones have hardware keys. Even someone with limited vision can learn the keyboard on such a phone. From the sound of your first post, all she will be doing is making phone calls.
    Best of luck.
